  • Is there a good way of automatically generating javascript client code from server side python

    - by tat.wright
I basically want to be able to: Write a few functions in python (with the minimum amount of extra meta data) Turn these functions into a web service (with the minimum of effort / boiler plate) Automatically generate some javascript functions / objects for rpc (this should prevent me from doing as many stupid things as possible like mistyping method names, forgetting the names of methods, passing the wrong number of arguments) Example python: def hello_world(): return "Hello world" javascript: ... <!-- This file is automatically generated (either dynamically or statically) --> <script src="http://myurl.com/webservice/client_side_javascript"> </script> ... <script> $('#button').click(function () { hello_world(function (data){ $('#label').text(data))) } </script> A bit of research has shown me some approaches that come close to this: Automatic generation of json-rpc services from functions with a little boiler plate code in python and then using jquery and json to do the calls (still easy to make mistakes with method names - still need to be aware of urls when calling, very irritating to write these calls yourself in the firebug shell) Using a library like soaplib to generate wsdl from python (by adding copious type information). And then somehow convert this into javascript (not sure if there is even a library to do this) But are there any approaches closer to what I want?

  • What is wrong with the nested accordion in jquery?

    - by Xaisoft
    The problem below with the nested accordion is that if a question is large enough, the answer does not push other questions down when it is expanded, it overlaps it. What is the problem? <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.1/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("#accordion").accordion({ collapsible: true, active: false }); $("#general-questions").accordion({ collapsible: true, active: false }); }); </script> <h2>Frequently Asked Questions</h2> <div id="accordion"> <h3> <a href="#">General</a></h3> <div id="general-questions"> <h3> <a href="#">Question 1</a></h3> <div> Answer 1</div> <h3> <a href="#">Question 2</a></h3> <div> Answer 2</div> <h3> <a href="#">Question 3</a></h3> <div> Answer 3</div> </div> </div>

  • How to run javascript on an ajax output?

    - by WAC0020
I am using jquery-ui tabs and ajax to load the content of the tabs. Here is my javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $("#tabs").tabs({ fx: { opacity: 'toggle' } }); $('.hd_item').hover(function() { //Display the caption $(this).find('span.hd_caption').stop(false,true).fadeIn(600); }, function() { //Hide the caption $(this).find('span.hd_caption').stop(false,true).fadeOut(400); }); }); When the user clicks on the tab is will load the content.php via ajax. The output of the ajax is: <li class="hd_item"> <img title="Backyard Brawl" alt="Backyard Brawl" src="games/normal_icons/1844.png" id="hd_icon"> <span class="hd_caption"> <h1>Backyard Brawl</h1> <p id="hd_description">In this game you pick a player and beat each other up with ...</p> <p id="hd_stat">Added: <br>2009-12-14</p><a href="/dirtpilegames/index.php?ground=games&amp;action=play&amp;dig=backyard-brawl">PLAY</a> </span> </li> The problem that I am having is the javascript is not working on the ajax output. How to I get it to work on it?

  • IE8 CSS Table Effect

    - by Ian
I've been trying to make this cross browser (specifically IE), but I do not want to use tables. I will not be able to specify the container width with CSS because its contents (the image) will dynamically change with Javascript, so I need the container to 'auto-size' horizontally. The desired effect would be a centered image with two sets of text (one of the left and one of the left) directly underneath the image, aligned to it's inner edges. Example (Doesn't work on IE): http://pastehtml.com/view/19pbyw9.html <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> #container { display:table; } </style> </head> <body> <center> <div id="container"> <img src="http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/srpr/logo1w.png" alt="" /><br /> <span style="float: left;">test</span> <span style="float: right; text-align: right;">test2</span> </div> </center> </body> </html>

    - by Dusty Roberts
    Hi Peeps i have an href that once clicking on it, it opens a dialog and sets a textbox value for that dialog. however, once i click on submit in that dialog, the textbox value is null. Link: <a href="#" onclick="javascript:expand('https://me.yahoo.com'); jQuery('#openiddialog').dialog('open'); return false;"><img id="yahoo" class="spacehw" src="/Content/Images/spacer.gif" /></a> Script: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function () { jQuery("#openiddialog").dialog({ autoOpen: false, width: 600, modal: true, buttons: { "Cancel": function () { $(this).dialog("close"); } } }); }); function expand(obj) { $("#<%=openIdBox.ClientID %>").val(obj); } </script> Dialog:<div id="openiddialog" title="Log in using OpenID"> <p> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text="OpenID Login" /> <asp:TextBox ID="openIdBox" EnableViewState="true" runat="server" /> <asp:JButton Icon="ui-icon-key" ID="loginButton" runat="server" Text="Authenticate" OnClick="loginButton_Click" /> <asp:CustomValidator runat="server" ID="openidValidator" ErrorMessage="Invalid OpenID Identifier" ControlToValidate="openIdBox" EnableViewState="false" OnServerValidate="openidValidator_ServerValidate" /> <br /> <asp:Label ID="loginFailedLabel" runat="server" EnableViewState="False" Text="Login failed" Visible="False" /> <asp:Label ID="loginCanceledLabel" runat="server" EnableViewState="False" Text="Login canceled" Visible="False" /> </p> </div> ... sorry... can't fix formatting ?!?

  • How to MakeTable ReadOnly including contents like images

    - by GustlyWind
I have a table which has two text boxes and a image beside it to click and open a popup. In read-only mode based on condition I am able to make text boxes read-only but images are not becoming read-only.One solution I had is the anchor tag associated with image calls for JavaScript where I can check for a dummy click when it is in read-only mode. The problem here is the function is common and effects everywhere. So is there a way to make the entire table read-only so that no extra workaround needs to done. Edited for code <table> <tr> <td class="lightbg" colspan='4'>&nbsp; Expires:<input type="TEXT" value="" id="element1" name="expireDate" size="10" maxlength="20" class="" onChange="javascript:validateDateEntry('element1',true);;"> Period:<input type="TEXT" value="" id="element2" name="refershDate" size="10" maxlength="20" class="" onChange="javascript:validateDateEntry('element2',true);;"> &nbsp; <a href="javascript:doCalendar('element1');"> <img src="/PWM/images/images_2006/calendarbtn.gif" border="0" alt="Click to select date from calendar" align="absmiddle"> </a> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan='4'><b>*</b>Times are in the WFM Server's Time Zone.</td></tr> </table> Thanks

  • Obtaining YouTube video ID in a URL and inputting selected video ID into a URL

    - by Dave
I've been having trouble in trying to figure this out. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. I know the URL for the thumbnail of any video, but I just need to be able to change the ID to display different video thumbnails. <script> $(document).ready(function() { function(data){ videoID = data.split('www.youtube.com/v/')[1].split('&amp')[0]; $("#304817679").append(videoID); }); $("#304817679").replaceWith("<div id=\"304817679\" style=\"background: url(http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ $.function(data) +"/0.jpg) no-repeat middle; width: 15px; height: 150px;\"></div>"); }); }); </script> <div id="304817679"> <div style="display: none;"><object width="248" height="222"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="248" height="222" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></div> </div> Trying to explain this better, I want the 11 Character YouTube Video ID from the embedded code, and put it into the URL of the thumbnail (http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ function(data) +"/0.jpg). Which, would then also replace the original div (div id="304817679"). Am I on the right track with my script? I'm entirely new to this, and I would appreciate some of the help that's offered here.

  • how to incorporate a function within a function

    - by bklynM
    I updated my code with string dates created with new Date and added back in the if statement. This isn't disabling the string or range though. I've added the datepicker code too. function unavailableDays(date) { function createDateRange(first, last) { var dates = []; for(var j = first; j < last; j.setDate(j.getDate() + 7)) { dates.push(new Date(j.getTime())); } var alwaysDisabled = [new Date("1963-3-10T00:00:00"), new Date("1963-3-17T00:00:00"), new Date("1963-3-24T00:00:00"), new Date("1963-3-31T00:00:00"), new Date("1965-9-18T00:00:00")]; return dates.concat(alwaysDisabled); } var disabledDays = createDateRange(new Date("1978-8-10T00:00:00"), new Date("1978-11-5T00:00:00")); var yy = date.getFullYear(), mm = date.getMonth(), dd = date.getDate(); for (i = 0; i < disabledDays.length; i++) { if($.inArray(yy + '-' + (mm+1) + '-' + dd,disabledDays) != -1 || new Date() < date) { return [false]; } } return [true]; } $(document).ready(function (){ $('.selector').datepicker({ inline: true, dateFormat: 'yy-mm-dd', constrainInput: true, changeYear: true, changeMonth: true, minDate: new Date(1940, 1-1, 1), maxDate: new Date(2011, 10-1, 24), beforeShowDay: unavailableDays, onSelect: function(dateText, inst) { $("#img").attr("src", "http://www.example.com" + dateText + ".jpg"); var chosenDates = $.datepicker.parseDate('yy-mm-dd', dateText); var backToString = $.datepicker.formatDate('MM dd' + ',' + ' yy', chosenDates); $('.info').html('You are viewing:' + '<br />' + backToString).addClass('background'); } }); });

  • Why does only youtube embeds work on iPad?

    - by Nagaraj Hubli
I am trying to find out as to why youtube embeds works just fine on iPad, and not the embeds of any other video site. Example of youtube embed: <object width="640" height="385"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DlIU5TgwEFg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DlIU5TgwEFg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed> </object> is this because iPad has got a native youtube app which has special support for youtube embeds, or is this something that is handled by the script that's get executed by the youtube embed code, which might check for the user agent, and then load the HTML5 video player with a source pointing to the h.264 encoded version of the video (is something of this sort possible)?

  • jquery: how can i load the Google Maps API via ajax?

    - by Haroldo
Before you reply: this is not as straight foward as you'd expect! I have a 'show on map' button which when clicked opens a dialogbox/lightbox with the google map in. I don't want to load the maps api on pageload, just when a map has been requested This is php file the "show on map" button puts into the dialog box: <div id="map_canvas"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { //google maps stuff var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(<?php echo $coords ?>); var options = { zoom: 14, center: latlng, mapTypeControl: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map_canvas'), options); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: new google.maps.LatLng(<?php echo $coords ?>), map: map }); }) </script> I've been trying to load the API before ajaxing in the dialog like this: $('img.map').click(function(){ var rel = $(this).attr('rel'); $.getScript('http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false', function(){ $.fn.colorbox({ href:rel }) }); }) this doesn't seem to work :( i've also tried: adding <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> to the ajax file type="text/javascript" running $.getScript('http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false'); on doc.ready the problem the browser seems to be redirected to the api.js file - you see a white screen

  • Using HTML5 on iPhone - cannot pause

    - by Ariel
Hey guys, I was wondering whether anyone has tried to use the new tag that comes with HTML5 on the iPhone. Specifically, I didn't manage to make the pause() command to work. Below is a portion of the page. As you can see, I'm trying to pause the video 10sec after it started. It works on Safari on a Mac btw. Has anyone managed to make this work? <head> <javascript language="JavaScript"> function timeUpdate() { var myVideo = document.getElementsByTagName('video')[0]; var time = myVideo.currentTime; if (time > 10) { myVideo.pause(); } } function addListeners() { var myVideo = document.getElementsByTagName('video')[0]; myVideo.addEventListener('timeupdate',timeUpdate, false); } </script> </head> <body onload="addListeners()"> <video controls src="resources/bb_poor_cinderella_512kb.mp4" poster="resources/background.png"> Video tag not supported! </video> </body> Thanks, Ariel

  • Android - I can't make a widget clickable to launch an intent

    - by Daniele
Hi all. I am new to Android development. I have developed a very simple widget that was meant to interact with the user via an ImageButton. What I am trying to do now is as follows. When a user taps the button (after adding the widget to their home screen), I want the phone to dial a certain telephone number. A sort of speed dial for your home screen. Unfortunately when I tap the button nothing happens. This is the body of my SpeedDialAppWidgetProvider.onUpdate method: Log.d("", "beginning of onUpdate"); final int N = appWidgetIds.length; for (int i=0; i<N; i++) { int appWidgetId = appWidgetIds[i]; Log.d("", "dealing with appWidgetId: " + appWidgetId); // Create an Intent to launch ExampleActivity Intent dialIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse("tel:1234567")); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, dialIntent, 0); Log.d("", "pendingIntent classname " + pendingIntent.getClass().getName()); // Get the layout for the App Widget and attach an on-click listener to the button RemoteViews remoteViews = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.speed_dial_appwidget); remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.dial_icon, pendingIntent); Log.d("", "remoteViews classname " + remoteViews.getClass().getName()); // Tell the AppWidgetManager to perform an update on the current App Widget appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetId, remoteViews); Log.d("", "end of onUpdate"); I can see the method is called and the result of the logging makes sense. The speed_dial_appwidget.xml file is like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" androidrientation="vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <ImageButton id="@+id/dial_icon" android:src="@drawable/speed_dial" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> </LinearLayout> Can you please help me with this? Thanks in advance, Dan

  • Dynamically created iframe not working on Safari

    - by mhammout
I have a weird problem and I find no answer on google... I dynamically create and fullfil an iframe with jquery on a page. It works fine withFF and IE, but not with Safari. The iframe is created but empty (the message "greetings from the iframe !" is missing). Here is a piece of code to illustrate it : <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="fr-fr" lang="fr-fr" > <head> <title>iframe</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var jFrame = $('<iframe id="myiframe" name="myiframe">'); jFrame.css({'height':'40px','width':'200px'}).appendTo($('#container')); $('#myiframe').load(function() { jFrame.contents().find("body").html('greetings from the iframe !'); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="container"></div> </body> </html> I really wonder why the iframe stays empty with Safari. It seems like if "contents()" was not well interpreted... Any idea ?

  • Ant: How to force java compilation if classpath jars have changed but sources have not

    - by Ittai
Hi, I have the following usecase: I have a java project (myProj) which uses a common.jar from a different project(common). I want the javac ant task to work even if the sources of myProj have not changed if the common.jar has changed (as the sources of myProj depend of it and might be invalid now). I have a task which copies the common.jar from a central location to the myProj lib if it has changed and I can use it to set a property whether or not to "force" compilation so that end is taken care of. I'm not sure how (or if) I can tell the javac task to try and compile anyway? I don't want to change myProj's sources (or timestamps) so that the task will start. Excerpt from the ant build.xml file: <path id="project.class.path"> <pathelement location... /> ... <fileset dir="lib" includes="**/*.jar" /> </path> <target name="copyLibs" > <copy file="${central.loc}/common.jar" todir="lib" /> ... </target> <target name="javac" > <javac srcdir="src" includes="**" excludes=... > <classpath refid="project.class.path"/> </javac> </target> Thanks in advance, Ittai

  • text not wrapping around some floated images, wraps in IE & FF but not chrome, safari

    - by Hartley
This is unlike anything I've read about and I've been totally scratching my head for the last few hours trying to figure out what's going on. I have a hand-coded site @ hartbro.com Part of the site is a blog, in which I include pictures. Here's the HTML code around one of the images that's causing trouble. <a href="blogcontent/090811.jpg" class="img"> <img src="blogcontent/090811.jpg" alt="Downed trees" width="25%" class="floatright" /></a> The storm left as quickly as it came. The sky cleared up and we were glad that the oppressive heat had let up. What I've noticed is that, on some of the blog entries that include more than one image, the 2nd image isn't really floating like its supposed to be, with the text wrapping around it. I figure its got to be some sort of conflict with some CSS that I have that's causing the problem but I just can't figure out what it is. I don't understand how it works in FF & IE but not Chrome or Safari?? Here's all of the relevant CSS, let me know if you need anything else. Thanks in advance. img{ margin:10px; } img.floatleft{ float:left; } img.floatright{ float:right; } edit: here's an screen-shot of what's happening.

  • jQuery loading issues within wordpress

    - by Chase
I am having a couple problems trying to manually insert some jQuery features into a wordpress theme. I have a lightbox wordpress plugin that is jQuery based that is working fine. So if I manually load the jQuery script into wordpress the functions seem to work but instead of say a slide being hidden it is revealed when it should still be hidden. Or a pop up that should work is already being shown instead of hidden. I don't think I'm supposed to manually include the jQuery into my skin but using the wp_enqueue_script('jquery'); doesn't seem to be resolving my issues either. <script src="http://platform.twitter.com/anywhere.js?id=i5CnpkmwnlWpDdAZGVpxw&v=1" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".btn-slide").click(function(){ $("#twitpanel").slideToggle("slow"); $(this).toggleClass("active"); }); }); </script> <div id="tweetit"><a class="btn-slide">Tell em'</a> <div id="twitpanel"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> twttr.anywhere(function (T) { T("#twitpanel").tweetBox({ height: 100, width: 225, defaultContent: "Some Random Text" }); }); </script> </div></h2> Like I said it works but in the reverse fashion that it should be. I think I'm just loading in something wrong? TIA, Chase

Application ID: DefaultDomain Process ID: 3316 Exception: System.NotImplementedException Message: The method or operation is not implemented. StackTrace: at DotNetOpenAuth.Messaging.ProtocolException.GetObjectData(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) in c:\Users\andarno\git\dotnetopenid\src\DotNetOpenAuth\Messaging\ProtocolException.cs:line 90 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.WriteObjectInfo.InitSerialize(Object obj, ISurrogateSelector surrogateSelector, StreamingContext context, SerObjectInfoInit serObjectInfoInit, IFormatterConverter converter, ObjectWriter objectWriter, SerializationBinder binder) at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.WriteObjectInfo.Serialize(Object obj, ISurrogateSelector surrogateSelector, StreamingContext context, SerObjectInfoInit serObjectInfoInit, IFormatterConverter converter, ObjectWriter objectWriter, SerializationBinder binder) at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.Serialize(Object graph, Header[] inHeaders, __BinaryWriter serWriter, Boolean fCheck) at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter.Serialize(Stream serializationStream, Object graph, Header[] headers, Boolean fCheck) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.CrossAppDomainSerializer.SerializeObject(Object obj, MemoryStream stm) at System.AppDomain.Serialize(Object o) at System.AppDomain.MarshalObject(Object o) If it was thrown and caught once a day I'd be fine, but this is a big one - I'm getting this in the Application Error log on the server, and it's crashing the process entirely - the site goes down and restarts. Has anyone else run into this? Something I'm clearly doing wrong?

  • Google Analytics Event Tracking and Variable visibility.

    - by Jeow
Hi guys, I have added to my html page the standard latest snippet to get google analytics to work: ... ... var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-15080849-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = 'http://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(ga); })(); Now looking at the official 'event tracking guide' google says: add a snippet such as: pageTracker._trackEvent('Videos', 'Play', 'Gone With the Wind'); my question is: where is pageTracker coming from ? is it a global object in ga.js ? but if it is, why google did not tell me that they run a risk on breaking some script... I must be missing something any help really appreciated.

  • How to minify JS in PHP easily...Or something else

    - by RickyAYoder
I've done some looking around, but I'm still confused a bit. I tried Crockford's JSMin, but Win XP can't unzip the executable file for some reason. What I really want though is a simple and easy-to-use JS minifier that uses PHP to minify JS code--and return the result. The reason why is because: I have 2 files (for example) that I'm working between: scripts.js and scripts_template.js scripts_template is normal code that I write out--then I have to minify it and paste the minified script into scripts.js--the one that I actually USE on my website. I want to eradicate the middle man by simply doing something like this on my page: <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts.php"></script> And then for the contents of scripts.php: <?php include("include.inc"); header("Content-type:text/javascript"); echo(minify_js(file_get_contents("scripts_template.js"))); This way, whenever I update my JS, I don't have to constantly go to a website to minify it and re-paste it into scripts.js--everything is automatically updated. Yes, I have also tried Crockford's PHP Minifier and I've taken a look at PHP Speedy, but I don't understand PHP classes just yet...Is there anything out there that a monkey could understand, maybe something with RegExp? How about we make this even simpler? I just want to remove tab spaces--I still want my code to be readable. It's not like the script makes my site lag epically, it's just anything is better than nothing. Tab removal, anyone? And if possible, how about removing completely BLANK lines?
