  • Colgroup in ffox/chrome

    I am testing the <colgroup> tag on a 5 columns table, with a style attribute. I can't seem to make it work on firefox 3.6/chrome 5 tho, and this is when I started searching for the reference on w3c. It seemed like my code was perfectly fine, but looking at the w3c editor I noticed not even that was working. Only IE8 seems to work correctly, opera 10.51 ignores the style tag but applies the align tag correctly, while ffox and chrome seems to ignore colgroup completely. So what am I (and w3c) doing wrong? Was colgroup deprecated and I missed it?

  • How can Safari be prevented from scrolling an overflow:hidden iframe?

    With Safari you can disable most iframe scrolling by setting style="overflow: hidden;" on the iframe. However, if you click in the iframe and move the mouse the content scrolls anyhow. Example: <html> <body> <iframe style="width: 100%; height:100px; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" src="scrollcontent.html"> </iframe> </body> </html> scrollcontent.html: <html scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <body scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <div style="background-color: green; height:100px;">A</div> <div style="background-color: red; height:100px;">B</div> </body> </html> In this example, the iframe should only show a green area and it should be impossible to reveal the red area. This is mostly true: there is no scrollbar, the mouse wheel doesn't do anything and neither do the arrow keys. However click and drag still scrolls the view. This is particularly noticeable when selecting text. Does anyone know any trick to stop Safari from doing this?

  • How can I equalize the heights of text input fields?

    What is the best way to equalize the height of my <select..> elements and my <input type="text"..> elements? It's proving difficult because of differences in box-sizing models. Google Chrome's user agent stylesheet has this: select { -webkit-box-sizing: border-box; } ..whereas other text input fields use the content box model. Why the difference? Should I perhaps make all of my text-based input fields use the border-box model? BTW, I'm using standards-compliant mode (by using <!DOCTYPE html>).

  • Three vertically stacked DIVs with scrolling middle

    Is it possible to stack three DIVs vertically and have just the middle div scroll vertically? I don't want to use pixel heights, though, because the DIVs are inside of a dialog box that is resizeable. Something like this (pardon my lousy ASCII art): +-----------+ | Header | +-----------+ | ^| | || | Scroll || | || | v| +-----------+ | Footer | +-----------+ The goal is to have the header and and footer fixed and, as the dialog grows, the middle div would grow vertically. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I've been fighting this for the last few hours and can't seem to get it right. The three DIVs probably need to be inside "another" DIV but when I do that, and set the height to 100%, it grows as the middle DIV grows. Again, it's probably something silly I'm not accounting for. I've also tried using a TABLE to no avail. Thanks for any help.

    How to create vertical gradient in flex. What i currently have is a horizontal color gradient. And its working fine.   • Easiest way to create twitter-like status update widget

    I want a widget that allows users to add a request if that request hasnt already been added, or vote for a request if it has already been added. when a user adds a request, i want it to immediately appear as the first element of the list, like what would happen to your timeline if you made new tweet. ive tried to look for a jquery plugin that offers this functionality, but i was unsuccessful (maybe i couldnt think of the right terms to search for??). i dont have enough faith in my js skills to write this from scratch, so id rather find a template to start with.     There seems to be a strange gap on the left side of the colorbox when it's laying over a Sifr element.   • Centering a div block without the width

    Hi, I have a problem when I try to center the div block "products" because I don't know in advance the div width. Anybody have a solution?   • Unable to edit .less file dynamically using dotless

    I've installed dotless and i see the handler has been added to my web.config file. However, i am unable to make changes to the .less file dynamically and reload the page and see the effect of the changes...Is there some setting I need to turn on?   • Why do Firefox and Opera ignore max-width inside of display: table-cell?

    The following code displays correctly in Chrome or IE (the image is 200px wide). In Firefox and Opera the max-width style is ignored completely. Why does this happen and is there a good work around? Also, which way is most standards compliant? Note One possible work around for this particular situation is to set max-width to 200px. However, this is a rather contrived example.     I know how to do plugins, but how do I do nested options like: var defaults = { spacing:10, shorten_to:50, from_start:0, from_end:2, classes: { test:'testing' } }; i know that isn't right, i just dont know how to write the proper syntax when I want to do something like this: $('#breadcrumbs').breadcrumbs({classes{test:'new_example'},spacing:12}) other suggestions are welcome, im in need of the ability to custom class names and there are 7, so rather than making something like test_class, example_class, etc id like it cleaner and neater like the example above.
