    How would I go about embedding a text field on my desktop? That is, I want to be able to type into it, but it needs to sit behind my windows at all times. I know I can use geektool to display text. Is there a similar program or piece of code that would allow me to do what I want?     I'm looking for a tool to monitor custom PHP Error logs/Apache and possibly Java logs on remote development servers. I'm not looking for a full production log system like Splunk, but something that's a little more flexible than an ssh terminal doing a "tail -f". Perhaps something that will: * Monitor multiple log files to my local machine for searching/analysis later * Allow "alerts" when certain strings appear in the log * Provide some kind of tabbed/dashboard view of the multiple logs being monitored (in total less than 10 logs).

Since Netmeeting was free, our budget is right around $0. We don't need audio or video, but do need to share apps/desktop and allow a remote user to take control.   • Give the www user chmod permissions

    Ive got a website (run on Ubuntu Server) that needs to modify and delete files, every now and again it comes across a file that it needs to run "chmod" on in order to perform it's operations. However it seems as tho the 'www' user does not have permission to run 'chmod' on any files. So I'm looking for the command to allow the 'www' user to do its thing on files inside the /var/www folder and also the /var/logs folder for example. Thanks.

    I have experienced this issue mainly with Excel, Word and Powerpoint 2013, where there is constant pop-up box asking for login credentials as it tries to connect to officeimg.vo.msecnd.net I have searched and found one of the solution, to prevent Office from connecting to the internet (Options Trust Center Settings Allow Office to connect to internet). This solution worked for sometime, but am back to square one again. Solutions are sought, as this is a nagging problem, I am sure others would have experienced the same.

    This is a crucial question to many: Searching the web, I have found several command line tools that allow you to convert a HTML-document to a PDF-document, however they all seem to use their own, and rather incomplete rendering engine, resulting in poor quality How can you print the rendered output of a modern web-browser to pdf, (and/or svg) whilst retaining as much vector graphics as possible? There is a solution called: webkit-pdf (which renders everything to bitmap graphics) I am looking for options, alternatives, suggestions perhaps even a printer-driver or webservices? Thanks

  • Web Farm Framework - Adding servers are offline

    My problem is that im trying to setup a server farm but the nodes all come up as offline. I dont get a connection error saying that the servername is wrong, but get "offline" after it "test connection" I have: - Setup firewalls rules to allow Remote and file share on Domain and private network - Installed WWF 2.0 on both servers - Account that im using is a domain account that is Administrator on both machines. www01 is the same server as the controller below, but same results if i try www02 as primary. Any ideas?

    I have a file that I've pulled from a DVD that is apparently in AC3 5.1 format. The extension is .AC3 and it opens an plays in QuickTime, VLC etc. What I want is each individual channel in a separate file, but I can't seem to find any tools that will allow be to do that. Is there a way to split the file I have, or alternatively is there a way to pull the audio streams from a 5.1 DVD?

    I have a Compaq CQ50-215CA laptop with a battery that does not properly hold charge. Vista's battery meter does not read the remaining charge left; the laptop will randomly shut down at ~60% and sometimes the meter goes back up to 100% before shutting down without warning. So, does freezing a dead-ish laptop battery somehow repair it and allow it to hold charge again?

Looking through the IIS logs, I have noticed that there are some IP addresses repeatedly requesting certain URLs (such as for example /mysql/phpmyadmin/main.php, /phpadmin/main.php) which do not exist, as the site is entirely served off of ASP.NET. They are obviously fishing for known vulnerabilities. My question is, are there any firewall or other tools (Windows built-in or commercial) that allow me to block those IP addresses which request certain URLs multiple times?
