  • Is it better to hard code data or find an algorithm?

    - by OghmaOsiris
    I've been working on a boardgame that has a hex grid as the board (the upper right grid in the image below) Since the board will never change and the spaces on the board will always be linked to the same other spaces around it, should I just hard code every space with the values that I need? Or should I use various algorithms to calculate links and traversals? To be more specific, my board game is a 4 player game where each player has a 5x5x5x5x5x5 hex grid (again, the upper right grid in th eimage above). The object is to get from the bottom of the grid to the top, with various obstacles in the way, and each players being able to attack eachother from the edge of their grid onto other players based on a range multiplier. Since the players grid will never change and the distance of any arbitrary space from the edge of the grid will always be the same, should I just hard code this number into each of the spaces, or should I still use a breadth first search algorithm when players are attacking? The only con I can think of for hard coding everything is that I'm going to code 9+ 2(5+6+7+8) = 61 individual cells. Is there anything else that I'm missing that I should consider using more complex algorithms?

  • display data from json file in datagrid

    - by kayn
    I want to display data from a json files in a data grid using dojo ver 1.0.0. I am able to diplay the data when i declare it on my code but when i store the same data in a json format so i can reference it in my script,i get an empty grid. This is my json file; { data: [ ['10''myfile','Css', 'CS Degree','Dr. Bottoman','This is mine'], ['10'myfile2','CS716', 'CS Degree','Prof Frank', 'This is course'], ['10'myfile3 ','CS714', 'CS Degree', 'Dr. Ree', 'Welcome'], ['14', 'myfile4','CS772', 'CS Degree', 'Mr. Boss', 'This will display content' ], ['18', 'myfile5','CS774', 'CS Degree','Ms. Kirk', 'This is networks.' ] ] } and below is my code; @import "../../../dojo/resources/dojo.css"; @import "../_grid/Grid.css"; body { font-size: 1.0em; } #grid { height: 400px; border: 1px solid silver; } .text-oneline { white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; text-overflow: ellipsis; } .text-scrolling { height: 4em; overflow: auto; } .text-scrolling { width: 21.5em; } dojo.require("dojox.grid.Grid"); dojo.require("dojox.grid._data.model"); dojo.require("dojo.parser"); <script type="text/javascript"> /*<span dojoType="dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore" jsId="myStore" url="course.json"> </span>*/ data = [ ['10''myfile','Css', 'CS Degree','Dr. Bottoman','This is mine'], ['10'myfile2','CS716', 'CS Degree','Prof Frank', 'This is course'], ['10'myfile3 ','CS714', 'CS Degree', 'Dr. Ree', 'Welcome'], ['14', 'myfile4','CS772', 'CS Degree', 'Mr. Boss', 'This will display content' ], ['18', 'myfile5','CS774', 'CS Degree','Ms. Kirk', 'This is networks.' ] ]; getDetailData = function(inRowIndex) { var row = data[this.grid.dataRow % data.length ]; switch (this.index) { case 0: return row[5]; case 1: return row[2]; case 2: return row[0]; case 3: return row[1]; case 4: return row[3]; case 5: return row[4]; default: return row[this.index]; } } getName = function(inRowIndex) { var row = data[inRowIndex % data.length]; return row[1]; } // Main grid structure var gridCells = [ { type: 'dojox.GridRowView', width: '20px' }, { onBeforeRow: function(inDataIndex, inSubRows) { inSubRows[1].hidden = !detailRows[inDataIndex]; }, cells: [[ { name: 'Master', width: 3, get: getCheck, styles: 'text-align: center;' }, { name: 'Detail', get: getName, width: 60 }, ], [ { name: '', get: getDetail, colSpan: 2, styles: 'padding: 0; margin: 0;'} ]] } ]; // html for the +/- cell function getCheck(inRowIndex) { var image = (detailRows[inRowIndex] ?   • ZFDataGrid table width

  • What could possibly cause this error when declaring an object inside a class?

    - by M4design
    I'm battling with this assignment :) I've got two classes: Ocean and Grid. When I declare an object of the Grid inside the Ocean: unsigned int sharkCount; Grid grid; The compiler/complainer says: error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'grid' Can you possibly predict what produces this error with the limited info I provided? It seems that as if the Ocean doesn't like the Grid class. Could this be because of the poor implementation of the grid class. BTW the Grid has a default constructor. Yet the error happens in compiling time!. EDIT: They're each in separate header file, and I've included the Grid.h in the Ocean.h.

  • DallasXAML.com – A New User Group for Silverlight, WPF, XBAP, etc.

    - by vblasberg
                                     http://DallasXAML.com   I’ve devoted much of last month to starting the DallasXAML User Group.  I finally got back into user group management after 2 years away from leading the Dallas C# SIG.  Now I’m having fun getting a Silverlight/WPF user group going strong for the Dallas / Ft. Worth community.  Our first meeting was March 3rd at the Improving Enterprises offices in North Dallas.  We had about 25 to 35 attendees in the first meeting and it went well.  We covered the most important topic that everyone should understand well – data binding.   So I chose the XAML user group so we can get together for a common group improvement in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and learn cross-technology information that we can use now.  It is not a lecture hall.  The great thing is that we’ll provide hands-on experience with most every meeting.  The goal is to get the experience that we can use the next work day.  I unfortunately broke that rule by speaking all through the first meeting, but next month is part two with more hands-on data binding.   The differentiation is this group concentrates on XAML, not Silverlight or Windows Client alone.  What we learn in one area, we gain for all areas.  That includes the Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 coming later this year.  Next year it may be Windows Phone 8, 9, or whatever.    I started developing WPF seriously almost a year ago.  I experienced the painful learning curve.  Anyone who reports that there isn’t a big learning curve either thinks in XAML before it was developed, is on the Silverlight or WPF development team, or has already conquered the learning and forgot the pain.  So I wanted to share the pain or make it easier for others – same thing.  I have found that the more I learn and use good disciplined techniques, the more interesting and rewarding development is again.   A few months ago, I was sitting in the iPhone development session at the Dallas C# SIG.  After the meeting, the audience was polled for future topics.  After a few suggestions, Silverlight got the big hands up.  That makes sense because it’s still the hot topic for many Microsoft developers.  So I surfed around and found that there aren’t enough user groups to help in this area.  I polled a few local group leaders and did the work to start the group.  This week I got a telerik controls licence and improved the site with some great controls, namely the RadHtmlPlaceholder control.  It provides a Silverlight control to show HTML in an IFrame-like area.  On DallasXAML.com, the newsletters and resource pages display in HTML because Silverlight just isn’t there yet.  I’m looking forward to a Silverlight XPS viewer with flow documents.  There are some good commercial version available, but this is a non-profit group.    The DallasXAML.com site points to many other resources such as podcasts and webcasts.  I would rather give them the credit than try to out-do them.  So check out the DallasXAML user group site and attend our meetings if you can.  We meet the first Tuesday of the month.   -Vince DallasXAML User Group Leader

  • Infinite loop during A* algorithm

    - by Tashu
    The A* algorithm is used by enemies to have a path to the goal. It's working but when sometimes I placed a tower in a grid (randomly) it produces a stack overflow error. The A* algorithm would iterate the enemy and find its path and pass the list to the enemy's path. I added debug logs and the list that I'm getting it looks like it would arrive from start cell to goal cell. Here's the log - 06-19 19:26:41.982: DEBUG/findEnemyPath, enemy X:Y(4281): X2.8256836:Y3.5 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/findEnemyPath, grid X:Y(4281): X3:Y2 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/START CELL ID:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/GOAL CELL ID:(4281): 47 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 38(4281): passThrough:0.0 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 38 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 39(4281): passThrough:8.875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 39 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 40(4281): passThrough:7.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 40 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 40 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 52(4281): passThrough:8.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 52 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 52 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 53(4281): passThrough:7.96875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 53 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 28(4281): passThrough:8.9375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 28 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 65(4281): passThrough:8.984375 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 65 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 65 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Best : 66(4281): passThrough:7.9921875 06-19 19:26:41.990: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 66 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 78(4281): passThrough:8.99609375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 78 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 79(4281): passThrough:7.998046875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 79 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 80(4281): passThrough:6.9990234375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 80 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 80 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 81(4281): passThrough:5.99951171875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 81 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 81 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 82(4281): passThrough:4.999755859375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 82 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 82 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 83(4281): passThrough:3.9998779296875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 83 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 71(4281): passThrough:2.99993896484375 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 59(4281): passThrough:1.99951171875 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Neighbor's Parent:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.000: DEBUG/Best : 47(4281): passThrough:0.99951171875 Then, the goal cell would be iterating its parent till start cell to break off the loop. private void populateBestList(Cell cell, List<Cell> bestList) { bestList.add(cell); if (cell.parent.start == false) { Log.d("ID:", ""+cell.id); Log.d("ParentID:", ""+cell.parent.id); populateBestList(cell.parent, bestList); } return; } The log with error above would show like this - 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 47 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 59 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ParentID:(4281): 71 06-19 19:26:42.010: DEBUG/ID:(4281): 71 71 and 59 would switch over and goes on. I thought the grid is the issue due to the fact that enemies are using the single grid so I make the parent, start, and goal clear before starting the A* algorithm for an enemy. for(int i = 0; i < GRID_HEIGHT; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < GRID_WIDTH; j++) { grid[i][j].parent = null; grid[i][j].start = false; grid[i][j].goal = false; } } That didn't work. I thought it might be something related to this code, but not sure if I'm on right track - neighbor.parent = best; openList.remove(neighbor); closedList.remove(neighbor); openList.add(0, neighbor); Here's the code of the A* algorithm - private List<Cell> findEnemyPath(Enemy enemy) { for(int i = 0; i < GRID_HEIGHT; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < GRID_WIDTH; j++) { grid[i][j].parent = null; grid[i][j].start = false; grid[i][j].goal = false; } } List<Cell> openList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); List<Cell> closedList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); List<Cell> bestList = new ArrayList<Cell>(); int width = (int)Math.floor(enemy.position.x); int height = (int)Math.floor(enemy.position.y); width = (width < 0) ? 0 : width; height = (height < 0) ? 0 : height; Log.d("findEnemyPath, enemy X:Y", "X"+enemy.position.x+":"+"Y"+enemy.position.y); Log.d("findEnemyPath, grid X:Y", "X"+height+":"+"Y"+width); Cell start = grid[height][width]; Cell goal = grid[ENEMY_GOAL_HEIGHT][ENEMY_GOAL_WIDTH]; if(start.id != goal.id) { Log.d("START CELL ID: ", ""+start.id); Log.d("GOAL CELL ID: ", ""+goal.id); //Log.d("findEnemyPath, grid X:Y", "X"+start.position.x+":"+"Y"+start.position.y); start.start = true; goal.goal = true; openList.add(start); while(openList.size() > 0) { Cell best = findBestPassThrough(openList, goal); //Log.d("ID:", ""+best.id); openList.remove(best); closedList.add(best); if (best.goal) { System.out.println("Found Goal"); System.out.println(bestList.size()); populateBestList(goal, bestList); /* for(Cell cell : bestList) { Log.d("ID:", ""+cell.id); Log.d("ParentID:", ""+cell.parent.id); } */ Collections.reverse(bestList); Cell exit = new Cell(13.5f, 3.5f, 1, 1); exit.isExit = true; bestList.add(exit); //Log.d("PathList", "Enemy ID : " + enemy.id); return bestList; } else { List<Cell> neighbors = getNeighbors(best); for (Cell neighbor : neighbors) { if(neighbor.isTower) { continue; } if (openList.contains(neighbor)) { Cell tmpCell = new Cell(neighbor.position.x, neighbor.position.y, 1, 1); tmpCell.parent = best; if (tmpCell.getPassThrough(goal) >= neighbor.getPassThrough(goal)) { continue; } } if (closedList.contains(neighbor)) { Cell tmpCell = new Cell(neighbor.position.x, neighbor.position.y, 1, 1); tmpCell.parent = best; if (tmpCell.getPassThrough(goal) >= neighbor.getPassThrough(goal)) { continue; } } Log.d("Neighbor's Parent: ", ""+best.id); neighbor.parent = best; openList.remove(neighbor); closedList.remove(neighbor); openList.add(0, neighbor); } } } } Log.d("Cannot find a path", ""); return null; }

  • Silverlight for Windows Embedded Tutorial (step 5 and a bit of Windows Phone 7)

    - by Valter Minute
    If you haven’t spent the last week in the middle of the Sahara desert or traveling on a sled in the north pole area you should have heard something about the launch of Windows Phone 7 Series (or Windows Phone Series 7, or Windows Series Phone 7 or something like that). Even if you are in the middle of the desert or somewhere around the north pole you may have been reached by the news, since it seems that WP7S (using the full name will kill my available bandwidth!) is generating a lot of buzz in the development and IT communities. One of the most important aspects of this new platform is that it will be programmed using a new set of tools and frameworks, completely different from the ones used on older releases of Windows Mobile (or SmartPhone, or PocketPC or whatever…). WP7S applications can be developed using Silverlight or XNA. If you want to learn something more about WP7S development you can download the preview of Charles Petzold’s book about it: http://www.charlespetzold.com/phone/index.html Charles Petzold is also the author of “Programming Windows”, the first book I ever read about programming on Windows (it was Windows 3.0 at that time!). The fact that even I was able to learn how to develop Windows application is a proof of the quality of Petzold’s work. This book is up to his standards and the 150pages preview is already rich in technical contents without being boring or complicated to understand. I may be able to become a Windows Phone developer thanks to mr. Petzold. Mr. Petzold uses some nice samples to introduce the basic concepts of Silverlight development on WP7S. On this new platform you’ll use managed code to develop your application, so those samples can’t be ported on Windows CE R3 as they are, but I would like to take one of the first samples (called “SilverlightTapHello1”) and adapt it to Silverlight for Windows Embedded to show that even plain old native code can be used to develop “cool” user interfaces! The sample shows the standard WP7S title header and a textbox with an hello world message inside it. When the user touches the textbox, it will change its color. When the user touches the background (Grid) behind it, its default color (plain old White) will be restored. Let’s see how we can implement the same features on our embedded device! I took the XAML code of the sample (you can download the book samples here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/D/B/1DB49641-3956-41F1-BAFA-A021673C709E/CodeSamples_DRAFTPreview_ProgrammingWindowsPhone7Series.zip) and changed it a little bit to remove references to WP7S or managed runtime. If you compare the resulting files you will see that I was able to keep all the resources inside the App.xaml files and the structure of  MainPage.XAML almost intact. This is the Silverlight for Windows Embedded version of MainPage.XAML: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightTapHello1.MainPage" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:phoneNavigation="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Phone.Controls;assembly=Microsoft.Phone.Controls.Navigation" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignWidth="480" d:DesignHeight="800" FontFamily="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilyNormal}" FontSize="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeNormal}" Foreground="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}" Width="640" Height="480">   <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="{StaticResource PhoneBackgroundBrush}"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="*"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions>   <!--TitleGrid is the name of the application and page title--> <Grid x:Name="TitleGrid" Grid.Row="0"> <TextBlock Text="SILVERLIGHT TAP HELLO #1" x:Name="textBlockPageTitle" Style="{StaticResource PhoneTextPageTitle1Style}"/> <TextBlock Text="main page" x:Name="textBlockListTitle" Style="{StaticResource PhoneTextPageTitle2Style}"/> </Grid>   <!--ContentGrid is empty. Place new content here--> <Grid x:Name="ContentGrid" Grid.Row="1" MouseLeftButtonDown="ContentGrid_MouseButtonDown" Background="{StaticResource PhoneBackgroundBrush}"> <TextBlock x:Name="TextBlock" Text="Hello, Silverlight for Windows Embedded!" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" /> </Grid> </Grid> </UserControl> If you compare it to the WP7S sample (not reported here to avoid any copyright issue) you’ll notice that I had to replace the original phoneNavigation:PhoneApplicationPage with UserControl as the root node. This make sense because there is not support for phone applications on CE 6. I also had to specify width and height of my main page (on the WP7S device this will be adjusted by the OS) and I had to replace the multi-touch event handler with the MouseLeftButtonDown event (no multitouch support for Windows CE R3, still). I also changed the hello message, of course. I used XAML2CPP to generate the boring part of our application and then added the initialization code to WinMain: int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPTSTR lpCmdLine, int nCmdShow) { if (!XamlRuntimeInitialize()) return -1;   HRESULT retcode;   IXRApplicationPtr app; if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return -1; XRXamlSource dictsrc;   dictsrc.SetResource(hInstance,TEXT("XAML"),IDR_XAML_App);   if (FAILED(retcode=app->LoadResourceDictionary(&dictsrc,NULL))) return -1;   MainPage page;   if (FAILED(page.Init(hInstance,app))) return -1;   UINT exitcode;   if (FAILED(page.GetVisualHost()->StartDialog(&exitcode))) return -1;   return exitcode; }   You may have noticed that there is something different from the previous samples. I added the code to load a resource dictionary. Resources are an important feature of XAML that allows you to define some values that could be replaced inside any XAML file loaded by the runtime. You can use resources to define custom styles for your fonts, backgrounds, controls etc. and to support internationalization, by providing different strings for different languages. The rest of our WinMain isn’t that different. It creates an instances of our MainPage object and displays it. The MainPage class implements an event handler for the MouseLeftButtonDown event of the ContentGrid: class MainPage : public TMainPage<MainPage> { public:   HRESULT ContentGrid_MouseButtonDown(IXRDependencyObject* source,XRMouseButtonEventArgs* args) { HRESULT retcode; IXRSolidColorBrushPtr brush; IXRApplicationPtr app;   if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return retcode;   if (FAILED(retcode=app->CreateObject(IID_IXRSolidColorBrush,&brush))) return retcode;   COLORREF color=RGBA(0xff,0xff,0xff,0xff);   if (args->pOriginalSource==TextBlock) color=RGBA(rand()&0xFF,rand()&0xFF,rand()&0xFF,0xFF);   if (FAILED(retcode=brush->SetColor(color))) return retcode;   if (FAILED(retcode=TextBlock->SetForeground(brush))) return retcode; return S_OK; } }; As you can see this event is generated when a used clicks inside the grid or inside one of the objects it contains. Since our TextBlock is inside the grid, we don’t need to provide an event handler for its MouseLeftButtonDown event. We can just use the pOriginalSource member of the event arguments to check if the event was generated inside the textblock. If the event was generated inside the grid we create a white brush,if it’s inside the textblock we create some randomly colored brush. Notice that we need to use the RGBA macro to create colors, specifying also a transparency value for them. If we use the RGB macro the resulting color will have its Alpha channel set to zero and will be transparent. Using the SetForeground method we can change the color of our control. You can compare this to the managed code that you can find at page 40-41 of Petzold’s preview book and you’ll see that the native version isn’t much more complex than the managed one. As usual you can download the full code of the sample here: http://cid-9b7b0aefe3514dc5.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/SilverlightTapHello1.zip And remember to pre-order Charles Petzold’s “Programming Windows Phone 7 series”, I bet it will be a best-seller! • Project Server 2007 Task Updates hangs on 'Loading Grid...'

    - by entens
    A strange problem began occurring after applying MOSS2 (KB953334) and the August 2009 cumulative update to our Project server. When a user enters the 'Task Update' screen they are prompted to download a new ActiveX control. Upon refresh, and subsequent access attempts, the user is presented with a blank grid with the caption 'Loading Grid...' We have attempted to fix this issue by updating the 'Trusted Sites' list and changing the security settings according to KB818046. However, nothing seems to definitely fix the problem. Also, when the problem randomly fixes itself, it still occurs when viewing specific projects. Any ideas on a fix?

  • How to programmatically create customcontrol and change its values in Silverlight 4

    - by user361317
    Hi! I want to create a custom tabcontrol class which has an icon before the text, and I want to be able to change the icon in the constructor of the new tabcontrol. I use implicit styles in Silverlight 4, and the custom tabcontrol should not have any xaml of its own, just the class and the implicit xaml style in my App.xaml. I cannot, however, get this to work. This is my code: <!-- Style for generic tabcontrols --> 20,0,0,0 <Style TargetType="controls:TabItem"> <Setter Property="IsTabStop" Value="False"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFDBEDFB"/> Is this even possible? Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers! - jonah

  • Correctly calling setGridWidth on a jqGrid inside a jQueryUI Dialog

    - by Dan
    I have a jQueryUI dialog (#locDialog) which has a jqGrid ($grid) inside it. When the Dialog opens (initially, but it gets called whenever it opens), I want the $grid to resize to the size of the $locDialog. When I do this initially, I get scrollbars inside the grid (not inside the dialog). If I debug the code, I see the width of the $grid is 677. So, I call setGridWidth() again and check the width and now I have 659, which is 18px less, which is the size of the scroll area for the jqGrid (Dun-dun-dun..) When I rezie the dialog, I resize the grid as well, and everything is happy - no scrollbars, except where necessary. My dialog init code: $locDialog = $('#location-dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, position: ['center', 100], width: 700, height:500, resizable: true, buttons: { "Show Selected": function() {alert($('#grid').jqGrid('getGridParam','selarrrow'));}, "OK": function() {$(this).dialog('close');}, "Cancel": function() {$(this).dialog('close');} }, open: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridHeight($(this).height()-54); // No idea why 54 is the magic number here $grid.setGridWidth($(this).width(), true); }, close: function(event, ui) { }, resizeStop: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridWidth($locDialog.width(), true); $grid.setGridHeight($locDialog.height()-54); } }); I am curious if anyone has seen this before. Really, it isn't the end of the world if I initially have unnecessary scrollbars at first, but it is just odd that when I call setGridWidth initially, it doesn't take into account the scroll area of 18px. As far as the magical number 54, that is the number I had to subtract from the height of the dialog value to get the grid to render without unnecessary scrollbars.

  • WinForms Control.BeginInvoke asynchronous callback

    - by Darran
    I have a number of Janus grid controls that need to be populated on an application startup. I'd like to load these grids on different threads to speed startup time and the time it takes to refresh these grids. Each grid is on a seperate tab. Ideally I'd like to use Control.BeginInvoke on each grid and on the grid load completing the tabs will become enabled. I know with Delegates you can do a Asynchronous callback when using BeginInvoke, so I could enable the tabs in the asynchronous callback, however when using Control.BeginInvoke this is not possible. Is there a way to do asynchronous callbacks using Control.BeginInvoke or possibly a better solution? So far I have: public delegate void BindDelegate(IMyGrid grid); private IAsyncResult InvokeBind(IMyGrid grid) { return ((Control)grid).BeginInvoke( new BindDelegate(DoBind), new object[] { grid } ); } private void DoBind(IMyGrid grid) { grid.Bind(); // Expensive operation } private void RefreshComplete() { IAsyncResult grid1Asynch = InvokeBind(grid1); IAsyncResult grid2Asynch = InvokeBind(grid2); IAsyncResult grid3Asynch = InvokeBind(grid2); IAsyncResult grid4Asynch = InvokeBind(grid3); IAsyncResult grid5Asynch = InvokeBind(grid4); IAsyncResult grid6Asynch = InvokeBind(grid5); } Now I could spin off a separate thread and keep checking to see if the IAsynchResults have completed and depending on which one completes I could re-enable the Tab control that the grid is contained in. Is there a better way of doing this?

  • Silverlight: stretching to remaining space in StackPanel

  • MVC 2.0 - JqGrid Sorting with Mulitple Tables

    - by Billy Logan
    I am in the process of implementing the jqGrid and would like to be able to use the sorting functionality. I have run into some issues with sorting columns that are related to the base table. Here is the script to load the grid: public JsonResult GetData(GridSettings grid) { try { using (IWE dataContext = new IWE()) { var query = dataContext.LKTYPE.Include("VWEPICORCATEGORY").AsQueryable(); ////sorting query = query.OrderBy<LKTYPE>(grid.SortColumn, grid.SortOrder); //count var count = query.Count(); //paging var data = query.Skip((grid.PageIndex - 1) * grid.PageSize).Take(grid.PageSize).ToArray(); //converting in grid format var result = new { total = (int)Math.Ceiling((double)count / grid.PageSize), page = grid.PageIndex, records = count, rows = (from host in data select new { TYPE_ID = host.TYPE_ID, TYPE = host.TYPE, CR_ACTIVE = host.CR_ACTIVE, description = host.VWEPICORCATEGORY.description }).ToArray() }; return Json(result, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } } catch (Exception ex) { //send the error email ExceptionPolicy.HandleException(ex, "Exception Policy"); } //have to return something if there is an issue return Json(""); } As you can see the description field is a part of the related table("VWEPICORCATEGORY") and the order by is targeted at LKTYPE. I am trying to figure out how exactly one goes about sorting that particular field or maybe even a better way to implement this grid using multiple tables and it's sorting functionality. Thanks in advance, Billy

  • Windows Phone 7 ListBox uncustomizable?

Is any CSS Frameworks really can save time and make semantic code even for Experienced CSS developer? Many CSS Frameworksd are popular in SIMPLE PSD 2 XHTML CSS and in wordpress/drupal/joomla theme development. Can we make CSS XHTML development as faster as with CSS frameworks but without using CSS Grid Frameworks? What makes development with CSS frameworks faster which we can't do without frameworks?

How can I achieve this using Dojo combo box and datagrid. the following code snippet not working for me. when I use setStore method on the grid with new json data. <div dojoType="dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore" jsId="store" url="/child/index/"></div> // grid store <div dojoType="dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore" jsId="parentStore" url="/parent/index/"></div> // combo box store //combo box <input dojoType="dijit.form.ComboBox" value="Select" width="auto" store="parentStore" searchAttr="name" name="parent" id="parent" onchange="displayChildren()"> //MY GRID <table dojoType="dojox.grid.DataGrid" jsId="grid" store="store" id="display_grid" query="{ child_id: '*' }" rowsPerPage="2" clientSort="true" singleClickEdit="false" style="width: 90%; height: 400px;" rowSelector="20px" selectionMode="multiple"> <thead> <tr> <th field="child_id" name="ID" width="auto" editable="false" hidden="true">Text</th> <th field="parent_id" name="Parent" width="auto" editable="false" hidden="true">Text</th> <th field="child_name" name="child" width="300px" editable="false">Text</th> <th field="created" name="Created Date" width="200px" editable="false" cellType='dojox.grid.cells.DateTextBox' datePattern='dd-MMM-yyyy'></th> <th field="last_updated" name="Updated Date" width="200px" editable="false" cellType='dojox.grid.cells.DateTextBox' datePattern='dd-MMM-yyyy'></th> <th field="child_id" name="Edit/Update" formatter="fmtEdit"></th> </tr> </thead> </table> //onchange method of parent combo box in which i am trying to reload the grid with new data from the server. function displayChildren() { var selected = dijit.byId("parent").attr("value"); var grid = dojo.byId('display_grid'); var Url = "/childsku/index/parent/" + selected; grid.setStore(new dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore({ url: Url })); } But its not updating my grid with new contents. I would be glad if I get the solution for both ItemFileReadStore and ItemFileWrireStore. Thanks Raj..

  • DataTrigger inside ControlTemplate doesn't update

    - by kennethkryger
    I have a ListBox that is bound to a list of CustomerViewModel-objects, that each has two dependency properties: - Name (string) - Description (string) - IsVisible (bool) (the IsVisible property is True by default and is reversed via the ToggleVisibility Command on the CustomerViewModel) I would like to display the Name and Description to the right of a Border-control, that is has a Transparent background when the IsVisible property is True and Green when the False. My problem is that the DataTrigger part of the code below doesn't work the way I want, because the Setter-part isn't triggered when the IsVisible is changed. What am I doing wrong? Here's my code: <UserControl.Resources> <Style x:Key="ListBoxStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="-1,-1,0,0" /> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0" /> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> <Setter Property="ItemContainerStyle" Value="{DynamicResource ListboxItemStyle}" /> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility" Value="Disabled" /> </Style> <Style x:Key="ListboxItemStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{x:Null}" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Grid> <Border x:Name="border" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="#FFD4D6D5" BorderThickness="0,0,0,1"> <Grid Height="70" Margin="0,0,10,0"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="10" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition Height="10" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Border x:Name="visibilityColumn" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Grid.RowSpan="4" Background="Transparent" Width="4" Margin="0,0,4,0" /> <TextBlock x:Name="customerName" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" Foreground="#FF191919" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Name}" VerticalAlignment="Top" /> <TextBlock Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="1" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Text="{Binding Description}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Foreground="#FFB4B4B4" TextTrimming="CharacterEllipsis" /> </Grid> <Border.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Header="Edit..." /> <MenuItem Header="Visible" IsCheckable="True" IsChecked="{Binding IsVisible}" Command="{Binding ToggleVisibility}"/> </ContextMenu> </Border.ContextMenu> </Border> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFEEEEEE" /> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFF5F5F5" /> <Setter TargetName="customerName" Property="Foreground" Value="Green" /> </Trigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsVisible}" Value="False"> <!--If Value="True" the customerName Border shows up green!--> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Green" /> </DataTrigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </UserControl.Resources> <ListBox Style="{StaticResource ListBoxStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding CustomerViewModels}" />
