  First I'm sorry this might be a dumb question but I'm trying to self learn python and I can't find the answer to my question. I want to make a phonebook and I need to add an email to an already existing name. That name has already a phone number attached. I have this first code: phonebook = {} phonebook ['ana'] = '12345' phonebook ['maria']= '23456' , '[email protected]' def add_contact(): name = raw_input ("Please enter a name:") number = raw_input ("Please enter a number:") phonebook[name] = number Then I wanted to add an email to the name "ana" for example: ana: 12345, [email protected]. I created this code but instead of addend a new value (the email), it just changes the old one, removing the number: def add_email(): name = raw_input("Please enter a name:") email = raw_input("Please enter an email:") phonebook[name] = email I tried .append() too but it didn't work. • AS3 TextField - unwanted carriage return when setting value to ""

  I have an input TextField and have a KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN even listener on the stage to listen for the Keyboard.ENTER event. The event listener adds the entered text to an array or whatever, and then clears the TextField. The problem is that when the Enter key event fires and the TextField value is set to "", it leaves a carriage return in the TextField and the cursor positioned on the second line. WTF? I've been coding AS2 and AS3 for a LONG time and have never ran into this before. Am I losing my mind? • Bind selected value on combobox to view model

  Hi, I have my silverlight app which pulls data into a datagrid from a view model. The vm is exposed via Mef. I also have a details grid which has comboboxes. The vm also contains the data to populate the combobox values. Upon first load, everything works fine and the selected items on te comboboxes are correct and I can select alternative values. However, if I sort my main data grid (allow sort=true) then I find the binding for selected value on the comboboxes dissapear. The combobox is still populated with data but nothing is selected. Has anyone come across this issue before? I am unsure how to solve this one. Thanks

  Im using the Twitter API to collect the number of tweets I've favorited, well to be accurate the total pages of favorited tweets. I use this URL: http://api.twitter.com/1/users/show/username.xml I grab the XML element 'favorites_count' For this example lets assume favorites_count=5 The Twitter API uses this URL to get the favorties: http://twitter.com/favorites.xml (Must be authenticated) You can only get the last 20 favorties using this URL, however you can alter the URL to include a 'page' option by adding: ?page=3 to the end of the favorites URL e.g. http://twitter.com/favorites.xml?page=2 So what I need to do is use CURL (I think) to collect the favorite tweets, but using the URL: http://twitter.com/favorites.xml?page=1 http://twitter.com/favorites.xml?page=2 http://twitter.com/favorites.xml?page=3 http://twitter.com/favorites.xml?page=4 etc... Some kind of loop to visit each URL, and collect the Tweets and then output the cotents. Can anyone help with this: - Need to use CURL to authenticate - Collect the number of pages of tweets (Already scripted this) - Then use a loop to go through each page URL based on the pages value?

• Using the Antenna and J2ME Polish preprocessors interchangeably and setting a variable value

  I have J2ME code, which I want to be able to compile using the J2ME Polish preprocessor or the wtkpreprocessor (antenna). They mostly use the same directives so it usually works, but ... When I want to insert an URL value in the Java code this gives a problem. • Strange behaviour of switch case with boolean value

  My question is not about how to solve this error(I already solved it) but why is this error with boolean value. My function is private string NumberToString(int number, bool flag) { string str; switch(flag) { case true: str = number.ToString("00"); break; case false: str = number.ToString("0000"); break; } return str; } Error is Use of unassigned local variable 'str'. Bool can only take true or false. So it will populate str in either case. Then why this error? Moreover this error is gone if along with true and false case I add a default case, but still what can a bool hold apart from true and false? Why this strange behaviour with bool variable?

  I have two models, product and order. Product - cost - id Order - cost - product_id Each time someone places an order, it captures the product_id through a radio button value in the "new order" form. In the controller when creating the new order it needs to set order.cost to order.product.cost. Logically I thought the code should be something like this: def create ... @order.cost == @order.product.cost ... end However I can't seem to make it work at all, hence me asking the question here.   Hi all, In php we can assign a method name to a variable and then use that variable to call the method. For example: $image_create_func = 'ImageCreateFromGIF'; $newImage = $image_create_func($oldImage); But can we do this in Flex? In flex, I have the string public var key:String = "email" And I also have a value object searchTerm:SearchTermVO which has a public property "email" (searchTerm.email). I'd rather not create any copies of the list because it's filled with a lot of really large objects.   I'm working on an API that accepts data from remote clients, some of which where the key in an HTTP POST almost functions as an array. In english what this means is say I have a resource on my server called "class". A class in this sense, is the type a student sits in and a teacher educates in. When the user submits an HTTP POST to create a new class for their application, a lot of the key value pairs look like: student_name: Bob Smith student_name: Jane Smith student_name: Chris Smith What's the best way to handle this on both the client side (let's say the client is cURL or ActiveResource, whatever..) and what's a decent way of handling this on the server-side if my server is a Ruby on Rails app? Need a way to allow for multiple keys with the same name and without any namespace clashing or loss of data.

  How can I test that every value in the collection returned by map is true? I am using the following: (defn test [f coll] (every? #(identity %) (map f coll))) with the anonymous function #(identity %), but I was wondering if there is a better way. I cannot use (apply and ...) because and is a macro. UPDATE: BTW, I am making my way through The Haskell Road to Logic, Maths, and Programming, by Kees Doets and Jan can Eijck, but doing the exercises in Clojure. It's a very interesting book.

  Hi. The question may seem vague, but let me explain it. Suppose we have a function f(x,y,z ....) and we need to find its value at the point (x1,y1,z1 .....). The most trivial approach is to just replace (x,y,z ...) with (x1,y1,z1 .....). Now suppose that the function is taking a lot of time in evaluation and I want to parallelize the algorithm to evaluate it. Obviously it will depend on the nature of function, too. So my question is: what are the constraints that I have to look for while "thinking" to parallelize f(x,y,z...)? If possible, please share links to study.

  Im trying to make a simple survey in php I have a set of radio buttons on a page called sja.php that sends its to sjamail.php page the problem is that when i go to get $answer = $_POST['ans']; I can't seen to do anything like echo "$answer"; but if i were to throw some logic at it like if ($answer == "ans1") { echo 'Correct'; } else { echo 'Incorrect'; } IT will display correct or incorrect so why is it i can't access the value of the radio button ans?

• Google SpreadSheets - When using a time trigger in code, some cells getting '#N/A' value

  I've created a Google spreadsheet with imported data on one cell, extracting specific string to another cell and pasting the data in a table with a trigger for every 2 hours. Now everything works perfectly when running the script manually but when logged out and waiting for the cells to fill, sometimes the pasted cell getting "#N/A" value. • postgres store with composite value type, or a better way of attributing an inverted index

  can't seem to figure out the syntax for populating a hstore with a value of composite type -- note: I do not want to convert a record to a hstore. select hstore('hello => ROW(1,2)'); I know it's something simple; However, google is not my friend today. use case : custom inverted index. The data is modelling an inverted index of lexemes, the composite data types are various probabilities related to the lexemes which I will use to implement document clustering. Does anyone know a better way of doing this ? I'm open to using an external system if it allows attaching attributes to key-posting pairs in the inverted index. I'd use something external if it had solid support for what I am trying to do, I suspect that sticking 3-10k lexemes per tuple and then doing batch processing on them is gonna be nasty as the whole hstore will have to be parsed and converted .
