  • Add time to a Date object in javascript

    I am trying to add time to a Date object in javascript but am not getting the results that I am expecting. I am trying to pull a timer off of the page and add it to the current time to get the unix timestamp value of when the timer will hit zero. The time on the page is displayed as " HH:MM:SS ". This is what I have: time=getTimerText.split(":"); seconds=(time[0]*3600+time[1]*60+time[2])*1000; to convert the time into milliseconds. fDate=new Date(); fDate.setTime(fDate.getTime()+seconds); add the milliseconds to the javascript timestamp alert(Math.round(fDate.getTime() / 1000)); convert the javascript timestamp to a unix timestamp Since the timer is counting down I should get the same result every time i run the script, but I don't. Can anyone see what I might be doing wrong here?

    Consider the following analogy: If we have a class: "Car" we might expect it to have an instance of "Engine" in it. As in: "The car HAS-A engine". Similarly, in the "Engine" class we would expect an instance of "Starting System" or "Cooling System" which each have their appropriate sub-components. By the nature of encapsulation, is it not true that the car "HAS-A" "radiator hose" in it as well as the engine?   • MySQL Rating system (calculating average from two tables).

    I have two tables, videos and videos_ratings. The videos table has an int videoid field (and many others but those fields are not important I think) and many records. The videos_ratings table has 3 int fields: videoid, rating, rated_by which has many records (multiple records for each fields from the videos table) but not for all records from the videos table. Currently I have the following mysql query: SELECT `videos`.*, avg(`videos_ratings`.`vote`) FROM `videos`, `videos_ratings` WHERE `videos_ratings`.`videoid` = `videos`.`videoid` GROUP BY `videos_ratings`.`videoid` ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 0, 12 It selects all the records from table videos that have a rating in table video_ratings and calculates the average correctly. But what I need is to select all records from the videos table, no matter if there is a rating for that record or not. And if there aren't any records in the videos_ratings table for that particular videos record, the average function should show 0. Hope someone could understand what I want... :) Thanks!

    Hello, I'm developing a "script generator" to automatize some processes at work. It has a Rails application running on a server that stores all data needed to make the script and generates the script itself at the end of the process. The problem I am having is how to export the data from the ActiveRecord format to Plain Old Ruby Objects (POROs) so I can deal with them in my script with no database support and a pure-ruby implementation. I tought about YAML, CSV or something like this to export the data but it would be a painful process to update these structures if the process changes. Is there a simpler way? Ty!

    I was wondering if you know of a way I could filter a mysql query to only show the ‘alpha’ characters from a specific field So something like SELECT col1, col2, **alpha_chars_only(col3)** FROM table I am not looking to update only select. I have been looking at some regex but without much luck most of what turned up was searching for fields that only contain ‘alpha’ chars. In a much watered down context... I have col1 which contains abc and col two contains abc123 and I want to match them on alpha chars only. There can be any number of letters or numbers. Any help very much wel come

    Is it possible to write a linq-to-sql statement that will return two different COUNTs that have been put into a single dataset using UNION ALL? I know this is syntactically wrong but here's what I'm trying to do: (from t1 in TableOne select t1).Count().Union( (from t2 in TableTwo select t2).Count() ) Here's the sql I would like would like to have generated: select count(*) from TableOne union all select count(*) from TableTwo I realize that Count() returns an int and does not have a Union method on it and therein lies my question. Can Linq-to-Sql be written that will achieve what I'm after?

I want to find all messages in database that have user_id or reciever_id equal to the object user and his attribute id (for short user.id). Say I have the following arrays String[] array1 = new String[7]; String[] array2 = new String[2]; String[] mergedArray = new String[array1.length + array2.length]; I would want mergedArray to have the following elements array1 array1 array1 array2 array1 array1 array1 array2 array1 but if I were to change the size of the arrays to String[] array1 = new String[5]; String[] array2 = new String[3]; String[] mergedArray = new String[array1.length + array2.length]; then I would want it to be array1 array2 array1 array2 array1 array2 array1 array1 basically if it can be helped each array2 element shouldn't be touching each other; exception if array2 has a size larger than array1.

I have two tables 1 . imdb (its for store movie details) id,name,actors,vote 2. ratings (its for store users rating details) id,rating_id(its same as id from first table),rating_num,IP now what am doing is..when anyone rating a movie take the avg of that movie rating by using rating tables (total ratings/number of ratings) and insert that value into "vote" column in first table..my demands this..thats why done like this.. Now my problem is..i want to fetch top rated movies..i mean in vote column which movie have top rating which want to list and one more condition is that that movie should rated by 10 users(use ratings table for that) thanks in advance

    im trying to understand the factory design pattern. i dont understand why it's good to have a middleman between the client and the product (object that the client wants). example with no factory: $mac = new Mac(); example with a factory: $appleStore = new AppleStore(); $mac = $appleStore->getProduct('mac'); how does the factory pattern decouple the client from the product? could someone give an example of a future code change that will impact on example 1 negative, but positive in example 2 so i understand the importance of decoupling? thanks

    I am using javascript map to store keys and values.Later on I check if specified key is present in map or not, but it sometimes gives correct result but sometimes it dont.I tried to print the map using console.log(mapname), it shows all keys, but i i try to check if some specified key is presnt sometimes it gives wrong answer.   • Creating objects and referencing before saving object to db

    Sorry about the vague title, but i didnt know how to ask the question in one line :) I have an order with nested itemgroups that again have nested items. the user specify the amount of item that he would like to have in each itemgroup. I would like to create these items in the create method of the orders controller when the order itself is being created. I kinda have 2 problems here. First, how do i set the reference of the items, or better yet, put the items into the @order object so they are saved when the @order is saved? the items are being stored in the db as the code is now, but the reference is not set because the order is not stored in the db yet so it doesnt have an id yet. Second, im not sure im using the correct way to get the id from my itemgroup. @order = Order.new(params[:order]) @order.itemgroups.each do |f| f.amount.times do @item = Item.new() @item.itemgroup_id = f.id @item.save end end

    Suppose I have two lists that holds the list of source file names and destination file names respectively. The Sourcefilenamelist has files as 1.txt, 2.txt,3.txt, 4.txt while the Destinaitonlist has 1.txt,2.txt. I ned to write a linq query to find out which files are in SourceList that are absent in DestinationFile list. e.g. here the out put will be 3.txt and 4.txt.     I'm currently trying to optimize the sluggish process of retrieving a page of log entries from the SQLite database. I noticed I almost always retrieve next entries along with count of available entries: SELECT time, level, type, text FROM Logs WHERE level IN (%s) ORDER BY time DESC, id DESC LIMIT LOG_REQ_LINES OFFSET %d* LOG_REQ_LINES ; together with total count of records that can match current query: SELECT count(*) FROM Logs WHERE level IN (%s); (for a display "page n of m") I wonder, if I could concatenate the two queries, and ask them both in one sqlite3_exec() simply concatenating the query string. How should my callback function look then? Can I distinguish between the different types of data by argc? What other optimizations would you suggest?

    I want to do this, yet I can't. Here is my scenario and rational. I have an abstract class for test cases that has an abstract method called test(). The test() method is to be defined by the subclass; it is to be implemented with logic for a certain application, such as CRMAppTestCase extends CompanyTestCase. I don't want the test() method to be invoked directly, I want the super class to call the test() method while the sub class can call a method which calls this (and does other work too, such as setting a current date-time right before the test is executed for example).
