  hi I have created a jar inside this folder: '/usr/local/bin/niidle.jar' in eclipse. And I have another jar inside /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar. In my niidle.jar file,there is one 'lib' folder and in that 'lib' folder,there is another jar file 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar'. I have added this 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar' file in MANIFEST.MF as follows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager Class-Path: hector-0.6.0-17.jar But when I run this using command: >>java -jar /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar arguments... It is not working.. • SQL: Join multiple tables and get a grouped sum

  I have a database with 3 tables that have related data. One table has transactions, and the other two relate to transaction categories. Basically it's financial data, so each transaction has a category (i.e. "gasoline" for a gas purchase transaction). A short version of my Transactions table looks like this- Transactions Table: ________________________________ | ID | Type | Amount | Category | --------------------------------- I also have two more tables relating a category to a categories parent. So basically, every Category entry in the Transactions Table belongs to a parent category (i.e. "gasoline" would belong to say "Automotive Expenses"). For categories, and their parent, I have two tables - Category Children: ____________________________________________ | ID | Parent Category ID | Child Category | -------------------------------------------- Category Parent: ________________________ | ID | Parent Category | ------------------------ What I'm trying to do is query the database and have it return a total spending by parent category. To get "spending" the Type of transactions must be "Debit".   Hi, I'm trying to get the html content of a page using silverlight. Webresponse and request classes don't work in silverlight. I did some googling and I found something. I'm confused as I thought the IO streams would be passive, unable to keep a process alive, or to make Java think the process is still alive.

• How to safely transfer reference to object across window?

  I'm debugging a web application. Javasript in one window create one object and use it as argument to invoke global method in another window. Pseudo code is like below. var obj = new Foo(); anotherWin.bar(obj); In anotherWin, the argument is stored in global variable. var g_obj; function bar(obj) { g_obj = obj; ... } When other function tries to reference g_obj.Id, it throws exception "Cannot evaluate expression". This happens in IE8.0.7600.16385 on Windows 7. In Visual Studio debugger, when this exception happens, the g_obj shows as {...} It looks all its properties are lost. Perhaps the root reason is the object is created in one window but only referenced in another window. The object might be garbage-collected at any time. Is there any way to work around this?

• Cannot run Python script on Windows with output redirected??

  This is running on Windows 7 (64 bit), Python 2.6 with Win32 Extensions for Python. I have a simple script that just print "hello world". I can launch it with python hello.py. In this case I can redirect the output to a file. But if I run it by just typing hello.py on the command line and redirect the output, I get an exception. C:> python hello.py hello world C:> python hello.py >output C:> type output hello world C:> hello.py hello world C:> hello.py >output close failed in file object destructor: Error in sys.excepthook: Original exception was: I think I first get this error after upgrading to Windows 7. • How do I tell if an action is a lambda expression?

  I am using the EventAgregator pattern to subscribe and publish events. If a user subscribes to the event using a lambda expression, they must use a strong reference, not a weak reference, otherwise the expression can be garbage collected before the publish will execute. I wanted to add a simple check in the DelegateReference so that if a programmer passes in a lambda expression and is using a weak reference, that I throw an argument exception. This is to help "police" the code. • Why am I having this InstantiationException in Java when accessing final local variables?

  I was playing with some code to make a "closure like" construct ( not working btw ) Everything looked fine but when I tried to access a final local variable in the code, the exception InstantiationException is thrown. If I remove the access to the local variable either by removing it altogether or by making it class attribute instead, no exception happens. The doc says: InstantiationException Thrown when an application tries to create an instance of a class using the newInstance method in class Class, but the specified class object cannot be instantiated. The instantiation can fail for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: - the class object represents an abstract class, an interface, an array class, a primitive type, or void - the class has no nullary constructor What other reason could have caused this problem? • Unable to store NSNumber in core data

  Hi all, I am using Core Data in my application.I have an attribute named PINCode which has property Int64. Now,in my app I take the PIN code from a text field,convert it into NSNumber and try to store as an attribute value for an entity.But I am unable to do so.The exception that it shows on the console is:- Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Unacceptable type of value for attribute: property = "PINCode"; desired type = NSNumber; given type = NSCFString; value = 121.' Here is the code:- (Conversion to NSNumber):- NSString *str= txtPINCode.text; NSNumber *num = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; int tempNum = [str intValue]; num = [NSNumber numberWithInt:tempNum]; (Storing in core data entity):- NSManagedObjectContext *context = [appDelegate managedObjectContext]; NSManagedObject *newContact; newContact = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MemberTable" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newContact setValue:num forKey:@"PINCode"]; The app crashes at this point.I am unable to find the reason of crash.I have also tried to check the conversion by the following code:- NSNumber *testNumber = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; id test = num; BOOL testMe = [test isKindOfClass:(Class)testNumber]; Can anybody help me with this?? We are both using version 6 of the Sun JRE. This error also occurs when he's uses double backslashes in the path instead of single backslashes and when he uses forward slashes instead of backslashes. First of all, is the XML correct? Is the path expressed correctly? Second of all, why is this error occurring on one computer but not on another?

• How do you manually set a RadioGroup value in wicket?

  I'm trying to change the selected radio button in a Wicket RadioGroup during an AjaxEventBehavior but can't figure out how to do so. Specifically when a user types some text in a textbox I want to change the selected radio button to one I specify. How do you do this? • Opening port 80 with Java application on Ubuntu

  What I need to do is running a Java application which is a RESTful service server side writtern by Restlet. And this service will be called by another app running on Google App Engine. Because of the restriction of GAE, every http call is limited to port 80 and 443 (http and https) with HttpUrlConnection class. As a result, I have to deploy my server side application on port 80 or 443. However, because the app is running on Ubuntu, and those ports under 1024 cannot be accessed by non-root user, then a Access Denied exception will be thrown when I run my app. The solutions that have come into my mind includs: Changing the security policy of JRE, which is the files resides in /lib/security/java.policy, to grantjava.net.SocketPermission "*.80" "listen, connect, accept, resolve" permission?However, neither using command line to include this file or overrides the content in JRE's java.policy file, the same exception keeps coming out. try to login as a root user, however because my unfamiliarity with Unix, I don't know how to do it. another solution I haven't try is to map all calls to 80 to a higher port like 1234, then I can deploy my app on 1234 without problem, and GAE call send request to port 80. But how to connect the missing gap is still a problem. Currently I am using a "hacking" method, which is to package the application into a jar file, and sudo running the jar file with root privilege. It works now, but definitely not appropriate in the real deployment environment. So if anyone have any idea about the solution, thanks very much!

Is it possible to make all classes loaded by new thread use given classloader?

• linq: SQL performance on high loaded web applications

  I started working with linq to SQL several weeks ago. I got really tired of working with SQL server directly through the SQL queries (sqldatareader, sqlcommand and all this good stuff).  After hearing about linq to SQL and mvc I quickly moved all my projects to these technologies. I expected linq to SQL work slower but it suprisongly turned out to be pretty fast, primarily because I always forgot to close my connections when using datareaders. Now I don't have to worry about it. But there's one problem that really bothers me. There's one page that's requested thousands of times a day. The system gets data in the beginning, works with it and updates it. Primarily the updates are ++ @ -- (increase and decrease values). I used to do it like this UPDATE table SET value=value+1 WHERE ID=@I'd It worked with no problems obviously. But with linq to SQL the data is taken in the beginning, moved to the class, changed and then saved. Stats.registeredusers++; Db.submitchanges(); Let's say there were 100 000 users. Linq will say "let it be 100 001" instead of "let it be increased by 1". But if there value of users has already been increased (that happens in my site all the time) then linq will be like oops, this value is already 100 001. Whatever I'll throw an exception" You can change this behavior so that it won't throw an exception but it still will not set the value to 100 002. Like I said, it happened with me all the time. The stas value was increased twice a second on average. I simply had to rewrite this chunk of code with classic ado net. So my question is how can you solve the problem with linq

Here is peace of code that works fine: IQueryable<SomeEntitiy> someEntities; var globbalyFilteredSomeEntities = from se in m_Entities.SomeEntitiy where se.GlobalFilter == 1234 select se; I can use this to apply global filter, and later use result in such way result = globbalyFilteredSomeEntities .OrderByDescending(se => se.CreationDate) .Skip(500) .Take(10); What I want to do - use some stored procedures in global filter. I tried: Add stored procedure to m_Entities, but it returns IEnumerable<> and executes sp immediately: var globbalyFilteredSomeEntities = from se in m_Entities.SomeEntitiyStoredProcedure(1234); Materialize query using EFExtensions library, but it is IEnumerable<>. If I use AsQueryable() and OrderBy(), Skip(), Take() and after that ToList() to execute that query - I get exception that DataReader is open and I need to close it first(can't paste error - it is in russian). var globbalyFilteredSomeEntities = m_Entities.CreateStoreCommand("exec SomeEntitiyStoredProcedure(1234)") .Materialize<SomeEntitiy>(); //.AsQueryable() //.OrderByDescending(se => se.CreationDate) //.Skip(500) //.Take(10) //.ToList(); Also just skipping .AsQueryable() is not helpful - same exception.

  Hi, In my ASP.Net MVC application, I use custom error handling. I want to perform custom actions for each error case I meet in my application. So I override Application_Error, get the Server.GetLastError(); and do my business depending on the exception, the current user, the current URL (the application runs on many domains), the user IP, and many others. Obviousely, the application is often the target of hackers. In almost all the case it's not a problem to detect and manage it, but for some JS URL attacks, my error handling does not perform what I want it to do. Ex (from logs) : http://localhost:1809/Scripts/]||!o.support.htmlSerialize&&[1 When I got such an URL, an exception is raised when accessing the ConnectionStrings section in the web.config, and I can't even redirect to another URL. It leads to a "System.ArgumentException - Illegal Characters in path, etc." The screenshot below shows the problem : http://screencast.com/t/Y2I1YWU4 An obvious solution is to write a HTTP module to filter the urls before they reach my application, but I'd like to avoid it because : I like having the whole security being managed in one place (in the Application_Error() method) In the module I cannot access the whole data I have in the application itself (application specific data I don't want to debate here) Questions : Did you meet this problem ? • XML-RPC over SSL with Ruby: end of file reached (EOFError)

  Hello, I have some very simple Ruby code that is attempting to do XML-RPC over SSL: require 'xmlrpc/client' require 'pp' server = XMLRPC::Client.new2("https://%s:%d/" % [ 'api.ultradns.net', 8755 ]) pp server.call2('UDNS_OpenConnection', 'sponsor', 'username', 'password') The problem is that it always results in the following EOFError exception: /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/protocol.rb:135:in `sysread': end of file reached (EOFError) So it appears that after doing the POST, I don't get anything back. Interestingly, this is the behavior I would expect if I tried to make an HTTP connection on the HTTPS port (or visa versa), and I actually do get the same exact exception if I change the protocol. Everything I've looked at indicates that using "https://" in the URL is enough to enable SSL, but I'm starting wonder if I've missed something. Note that Even though the credentials I'm using in the RPC are made up, I'm expecting to at least get back an XML error page (similar to if you access https://api.ultradns.net:8755/ with a web browser). I've tried running this code on OSX and Linux with the exact same result, so I have to conclude that I'm just doing something wrong here. Does anyone have any examples of doing XML-RPC over SSL with Ruby?
