  • How to troubleshoot if a zip file is valid or if it is big file size to be unzipped ?

    - by mireille raad
Hello , I am trying to unzip a file with the size of 2GB I am getting the following error : unzip CLTE_C_08.zip Archive: CLTE_C_08.zip End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of CLTE_C_08.zip or CLTE_C_08.zip.zip, and cannot find CLTE_C_08.zip.ZIP, period. After some googling, some people say that this error is because the file is too big, others say because file is corrupt, others say that it could be a not unix archive. So my question , how to find out if file is valid archive file on my Centos and what is the command/trick to uncompress big files ( if any ) Thanks in advance :)

  • vim: remove previous code indentation and convert to another

    - by ramgorur
I have a c project with multiple files (more than 100), the codes are written in Whitesmiths style, but I want to change them into K&R style indentation. Is it possible to do using vim in an automated way ? For example I have a emacs-lisp script to achieve this -- (progn (find-file "{}") (mark-whole-buffer) (setq indent-tabs-mode nil) (untabify (point-min) (point-max)) (indent-region (point-min) (point-max) nil) (save-buffer)) I was wondering if there is a similar trick that could be done with vim.

  • How to find malformed - corrupted - dos - BOMByte Files in Linux

    - by Syquus
I've several problems maintaining large production servers, in which some developers drop files from Windows environments, sometime with BOM-bytes (We use UTF8, and no need for that), causing lots of troubles. Other times, I got a "no end of line" and "[DOS]" labels when vim-editing files directly on the server. I recently discovered how to find for the bom byte, and how to delete it in a batch script. What about illegal bytes, bad EOLs? Is it safe to use DOS Text Files on a linux environment? Any drawbacks If I use to convert them with dos2unix cmd ? Regards

  • What is a good XML Editor for Mac OS X?

    - by g.
I am looking for a good lightweight XML viewer/editor for Mac OS X. It would only be for occasional use, so free options are preferable though paid options aren't out of the question. It would be used primarily for reviewing and making small changes to XML files and would require the following basic features. easily create a new file from clipboard (copy/paste) re-format (pretty print) xml syntax highlighting validation find

  • Require file for mount and also update the file after mount?

    - by Andy Shinn
I am trying to make sure a directory exists for a mount and then also update the permissions of that directory after the mount happens. I am receiving the following error: err: Failed to apply catalog: Cannot alias File[pre_eos_mount] to ["/var/tmp/eos"] at /etc/puppet/modules/mymodule/manifests/eos.pp:29; resource ["File", "/var/tmp/eos"] already declared at /etc/puppet/modules/mymodule/manifests/eos.pp:47 I would like to do something like this: file { $eos_mount : ensure = 'directory', mode = '1777', owner = 'root', group = 'root', } mount { $eos_mount : ensure = 'mounted', device = $lv_device, fstype = $fstype, options = 'defaults, noatime, nodiratime', require = File[$eos_mount], notify = File['post_eos'], } file { 'post_eos' : path = $eos_mount, ensure = 'directory', mode = '1777', owner = 'root', group = 'root', } What is a way to ensure permissions of a folder after it has been mounted?

  • Is there a way to "lock" the viewport in vim?

    - by breadjesus
I recently started using Vim with NERDTree. The annoying thing is when I close the buffer, NERDTree expands to fill the rest of the screen, and I have to open another file and reopen NERDTree to get it back to the old layout. Is there a way to "lock" NERDTree in place? Ideally, closing a buffer would replace it with another buffer that's hidden, or open a new blank buffer if no other buffers are open. Thanks!

  • Loading velocity template inside a jar file

    - by Rafael
I have a project where I want to load a velocity template to complete it with parameters. The whole application is packaged as a jar file. What I initially thought of doing was this: VelocityEngine ve = new VelocityEngine(); URL url = this.getClass().getResource("/templates/"); File file = new File(url.getFile()); ve = new VelocityEngine(); ve.setProperty(RuntimeConstants.RESOURCE_LOADER, "file"); ve.setProperty(RuntimeConstants.FILE_RESOURCE_LOADER_PATH, file.getAbsolutePath()); ve.setProperty(RuntimeConstants.FILE_RESOURCE_LOADER_CACHE, "true"); ve.init(); VelocityContext context = new VelocityContext(); if (properties != null) { stringfyNulls(properties); for (Map.Entry<String, Object> property : properties.entrySet()) { context.put(property.getKey(), property.getValue()); } } final String templatePath = templateName + ".vm"; Template template = ve.getTemplate(templatePath, "UTF-8"); String outFileName = File.createTempFile("p2d_report", ".html").getAbsolutePath(); BufferedWriter writer = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(new File(outFileName))); template.merge(context, writer); writer.flush(); writer.close(); And this works fine when I run it in eclipse. However, once I package the program and try to run it using the command line I get an error because the file could not be found. I imagine the problem is in this line: ve.setProperty(RuntimeConstants.FILE_RESOURCE_LOADER_PATH, file.getAbsolutePath()); Because in a jar the absolute file does not exist, since it's inside a zip, but I couldn't yet find a better way to do it. Anyone has any ideas?

  • Why does first call to java.io.File.createTempFile(String,String,File) take 5 seconds on Citrix?

    - by Ben Roling
While debugging slow startup of an Eclipse RCP app on a Citrix server, I came to find out that java.io.createTempFile(String,String,File) is taking 5 seconds. It does this only on the first execution and only for certain user accounts. Specifically, I am noticing it Citrix anonymous user accounts. I have not tried many other types of accounts, but this behavior is not exhibited with an administrator account. Also, it does not matter if the user has access to write to the given directory or not. If the user does not have access, the call will take 5 seconds to fail. If they do have access, the call with take 5 seconds to succeed. This is on a Windows 2003 Server. I've tried Sun's 1.6.0_16 and 1.6.0_19 JREs and see the same behavior. I googled a bit expecting this to be some sort of known issue, but didn't find anything. It seems like someone else would have had to have run into this before. The Eclipse Platform uses File.createTempFile() to test various directories to see if they are writeable during initialization and this issue adds 5 seconds to the startup time of our application. I imagine somebody has run into this before and might have some insight. Here is sample code I executed to see that it is indeed this call that is consuming the time. I also tried it with a second call to createTempFile and notice that subsequent calls return nearly instantaneously. public static void main(final String[] args) throws IOException { final File directory = new File(args[0]); final long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); File file = null; try { file = File.createTempFile("prefix", "suffix", directory); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); } finally { System.out.println(System.currentTimeMillis() - startTime); if (file != null) { file.delete(); } } } Sample output of this program is the following: C:\java.exe -jar filetest.jar C:/Temp C:\Temp\prefix8098550723198856667suffix 5093

  • Rails upload file to ftp server

    - by Bob
I'm on Rails 2.3.5 and Ruby 1.8.6 and trying to figure out how to let a user upload a file to a FTP server on a different machine than my Rails app. Also my Rails app will be hosted on Heroku which doesn't facilitate the writing of files to the local filesystem. index.html.erb <% form_tag '/ftp/upload', :method => :post, :multipart => true do %> <label for="file">File to Upload</label> <%= file_field_tag "file" %> <%= submit_tag 'Upload' %> <% end %> ftp_controller.rb require 'net/ftp' class FtpController < ApplicationController def upload file = params[:file] ftp = Net::FTP.new('remote-ftp-server') ftp.login(user = "***", passwd = "***") ftp.puttextfile(file.read, File.basename(file.original_filename)) ftp.quit() end def index end end Currently I'm just trying to get the Rails app to work on my Windows laptop. With the above code, I'm getting this error Errno::ENOENT in FtpController#upload No such file or directory -.... followed by a dump of the file contents Anyone knows what's going on?

  • How does the receiver of a cipher text know the IV used for encryption?

    - by PatrickL
If a random IV is used in encrypting plain text, how does the receiver of the cipher text know what the IV is in order to decrypt it? This is a follow-up question to a response to the previous stackoverflow question on IVs here. The IV allows for plaintext to be encrypted such that the encrypted text is harder to decrypt for an attacker. Each bit of IV you use will double the possibilities of encrypted text from a given plain text. The point is that the attacker doesn't know what the IV is and therefore must compute every possible IV for a given plain text to find the matching cipher text. In this way, the IV acts like a password salt. Most commonly, an IV is used with a chaining cipher (either a stream or block cipher). ... So, if you have a random IV used to encrypt the plain text, how do you decrypt it? Simple. Pass the IV (in plain text) along with your encrypted text. Wait. You just said the IV is randomly generated. Then why pass it as plain text along with the encrypted text?

  • AIR File.resolvePath won't work anymore

    - by Palleas
Hi all, I'm having a very strange issue, it looks like my application can't create file anymore. It works w/ directories, but the so-many-times-used resolvePath() methods doesn't. Here is what I do : var databaseFileContent : File = new File(File.desktopDirectory.nativePath + "/testing"); databaseFileContent.createDirectory(); databaseFileContent.resolvePath("test"); (Here I'm trying on desktop but that's the same w/ applicationStorageDirectory) When I execute this, it works only for the "testing" folder which is actually created, but my file isn't. I tried to create another application, doing this : trace(File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath("maiswtf.db").exists); trace(File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath("wtf.db").exists); Both are displaying "false". Am I missing something here? I have another application with this code : var databaseFileContent : File = File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath(File.separator + "sitra.db"); When I run this one, it works perfectly! My file is created at /sitra.db! Any hints? I thinks I'm going mad :/ Thanks!

  • Difference between putting variables in header vs putting variables in source

    - by Mohit Deshpande
Say I declare a header file with a variable: int count; Then in the source file, I want to use count. Do I have to declare it as: extern int count Or can I just use it in my source file? All assuming that I have #include "someheader.h". Or should I just declare it in the source file? What is the difference between putting count in the header file vs the source file? Or does it not matter?

  • Retrieving Encrypted Rich Text file and showing it in a RichTextBox C#

    - by Ranhiru
OK, my need here is to save whatever typed in the rich text box to a file, encrypted, and also retrieve the text from the file again and show it back on the rich textbox. Here is my save code. private void cmdSave_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { FileStream fs = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write); AesCryptoServiceProvider aes = new AesCryptoServiceProvider(); aes.GenerateIV(); aes.GenerateKey(); aes.Mode = CipherMode.CBC; TextWriter twKey = new StreamWriter("key"); twKey.Write(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(aes.Key)); twKey.Close(); TextWriter twIV = new StreamWriter("IV"); twIV.Write(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(aes.IV)); twIV.Close(); ICryptoTransform aesEncrypt = aes.CreateEncryptor(); CryptoStream cryptoStream = new CryptoStream(fs, aesEncrypt, CryptoStreamMode.Write); richTextBox1.SaveFile(cryptoStream, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText); } I know the security consequences of saving the key and iv in a file but this just for testing :) Well, the saving part works fine which means no exceptions... The file is created in filePath and the key and IV files are created fine too... OK now for retrieving part where I am stuck :S private void cmdOpen_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { OpenFileDialog openFile = new OpenFileDialog(); openFile.ShowDialog(); FileStream openRTF = new FileStream(openFile.FileName, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); AesCryptoServiceProvider aes = new AesCryptoServiceProvider(); TextReader trKey = new StreamReader("key"); byte[] AesKey = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(trKey.ReadLine()); TextReader trIV = new StreamReader("IV"); byte[] AesIV = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(trIV.ReadLine()); aes.Key = AesKey; aes.IV = AesIV; ICryptoTransform aesDecrypt = aes.CreateDecryptor(); CryptoStream cryptoStream = new CryptoStream(openRTF, aesDecrypt, CryptoStreamMode.Read); StreamReader fx = new StreamReader(cryptoStream); richTextBox1.Rtf = fx.ReadToEnd(); //richTextBox1.LoadFile(fx.BaseStream, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText); } But the richTextBox1.Rtf = fx.ReadToEnd(); throws an cryptographic exception "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed." while richTextBox1.LoadFile(fx.BaseStream, RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText); throws an NotSupportedException "Stream does not support seeking." Any suggestions on what i can do to load the data from the encrypted file and show it in the rich text box?

    - by VJ

Also is there any way I can use the HtmlHelper to use the markitup editor, since I can easily do something like this - <%= Html.TextAreaFor((model => model.Description)) %> I want to just get the value in the markitup editor and store in my sql server db in a string variable. Also further I would like to get these text which I assume will be storing html tags and display or render it with the html tags...I know HttpUtility.HttpDecode() method but are there any more suggestions on this...Thanks.

  • Need help manipulating WAV (RIFF) Files at a byte level

    - by Eric
I'm writing an an application in C# that will record audio files (*.wav) and automatically tag and name them. Wave files are RIFF files (like AVI) which can contain meta data chunks in addition to the waveform data chunks. So now I'm trying to figure out how to read and write the RIFF meta data to and from recorded wave files. I'm using NAudio for recording the files, and asked on their forums as well on SO for way to read and write RIFF tags. While I received a number of good answers, none of the solutions allowed for reading and writing RIFF chunks as easily as I would like. But more importantly I have very little experience dealing with files at a byte level, and think this could be a good opportunity to learn. So now I want to try writing my own class(es) that can read in a RIFF file and allow meta data to be read, and written from the file. I've used streams in C#, but always with the entire stream at once. So now I'm little lost that I have to consider a file byte by byte. Specifically how would I go about removing or inserting bytes to and from the middle of a file? I've tried reading a file through a FileStream into a byte array (byte[]) as shown in the code below. System.IO.FileStream waveFileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(@"C:\sound.wav"); byte[] waveBytes = new byte[waveFileStream.Length]; waveFileStream.Read(waveBytes, 0, waveBytes.Length); And I could see through the Visual Studio debugger that the first four byte are the RIFF header of the file. But arrays are a pain to deal with when performing actions that change their size like inserting or removing values. So I was thinking I could then to the byte[] into a List like this. List<byte> list = waveBytes.ToList<byte>(); Which would make any manipulation of the file byte by byte a whole lot easier, but I'm worried I might be missing something like a class in the System.IO name-space that would make all this even easier. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way to do this? I should also mention that I'm not hugely concerned with performance, and would prefer not to deal with pointers or unsafe code blocks like this guy. If it helps at all here is a good article on the RIFF/WAV file format.

  • JQuery text display problem?

    - by SLAPme
    Kind of new to JQuery and I was wondering how can I state that the users submitted info was saved when they click the submit button by displaying the message Changes saved at the top of the form and then have it disappear when the user leaves the web page and return back to it? Right now my code only displays that changes were saved at the bottom of the form outside of the lists and will not disappear when the users leave the web page and return back to it. Here is the JQuery code. $(function() { $(".save-button").click(function() { $.post($("#contact-form").attr("action"), $("#contact-form").serialize(), function(html) { $("div.contact-info-form").html(html); $('#contact-form').append('<li>Changes saved!</li>'); }); return false; // prevent normal submit }); }); Here is the html code. <div id="contact-info-form" class="form-content"> <h2>Contact Information</h2> <form method="post" action="index.php" id="contact-form"> <fieldset> <ul> <li><label for="address">Address 1: </label><input type="text" name="address" id="address" size="25" class="input-size" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['address'])) { echo $_POST['address']; } else if(!empty($address)) { echo $address; } ?>" /></li> <li><label for="address_two">Address 2: </label><input type="text" name="address_two" id="address_two" size="25" class="input-size" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['address_two'])) { echo $_POST['address_two']; } else if(!empty($address_two)) { echo $address_two; } ?>" /></li> <li><label for="city_town">City/Town: </label><input type="text" name="city_town" id="city_town" size="25" class="input-size" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['city_town'])) { echo $_POST['city_town']; } else if(!empty($city_town)) { echo $city_town; } ?>" /></li> <li><label for="state_province">State/Province: </label> <?php echo '<select name="state_province" id="state_province">' .   • .NET C# Filestream writing to file and reading the bfile

    - by pythonrg7
I have a web service that checks a dictionary to see if a file exists and then if it does exist it reads the file, otherwise it saves to the file. This is from a web app. I wonder what is the best way to do this because I occasionally get a FileNotFoundException exception if the same file is accessed at the same time. Here's the relevant parts of the code: String signature; signature = "FILE," + value1 + "," + value2 + "," + value3 + "," + value4; // this is going to be the filename string result; MultipleRecordset mrSummary = new MultipleRecordset(); // MultipleRecordset is an object that retrieves data from a sql server database if (mrSummary.existsFile(signature)) { result = mrSummary.retrieveFile(signature); } else { result = mrSummary.getMultipleRecordsets(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["MyConnectionString"].ConnectionString.ToString(), value1, value2, value3, value4); mrSummary.saveFile(signature, result); } Here's the code to see if the file already exists: private static Dictionary dict = new Dictionary(); public bool existsFile(string signature) { if (dict.ContainsKey(signature)) { return true; } else { return false; } } Here's what I use to retrieve if it already exists: try { byte[] buffer; FileStream fileStream = new FileStream(@System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["CACHEPATH"] + filename, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read); try { int length = 0x8000; // get file length buffer = new byte[length]; // create buffer int count; // actual number of bytes read JSONstring = ""; while ((count = fileStream.Read(buffer, 0, length)) > 0) { JSONstring += System.Text.ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(buffer, 0, count); } } finally { fileStream.Close(); } } catch (Exception e) { JSONstring = "{\"error\":\"" + e.ToString() + "\"}"; } If the file doesn't previously exist it saves the JSON to the file: try { if (dict.ContainsKey(filename) == false) { dict.Add(filename, true); } else { this.retrieveFile(filename, ipaddress); } } catch { } try { TextWriter tw = new StreamWriter(@System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["CACHEPATH"] + filename); tw.WriteLine(JSONstring); tw.Close(); } catch { } Here are the details to the exception I sometimes get from running the above code: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'E:\inetpub\wwwroot\cache\FILE,36,36.25,14.5,14.75'. • Access Adobe InDesign files

    - by PeterMmm
I need some directions for the following problem: I have a lot of InDesign files and i have to setup a process that will track if a certain paragraph or text block has changed between diferent versions of the file. If the text block has changed i want to extract that text block in a "portable" format (html, pdf, txt). Is there an Adobe product that would do that ? Is there any public API to access an InDesign file ? Is there the posibility to export InDesign to, say, html ?

Here's the output I'm getting when running the identify command directly. $ identify Version: ImageMagick 6.7.7-6 2012-10-06 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org Copyright: Copyright (C) 1999-2012 ImageMagick Studio LLC Features: OpenCL ... other usage info omitted ... I also used pry with the pry-debugger and put a breakpoint in geometry.rb inside of Paperclip. Here's what that section of geometry.rb looks like: # Uses ImageMagick to determing the dimensions of a file, passed in as either a # File or path. # NOTE: (race cond) Do not reassign the 'file' variable inside this method as it is likely to be # a Tempfile object, which would be eligible for file deletion when no longer referenced. def self.from_file file file_path = file.respond_to?(:path) ? file.path : file raise(Errors::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError.new("Cannot find the geometry of a file with a blank name")) if file_path.blank? geometry = begin silence_stream(STDERR) do binding.pry Paperclip.run("identify", "-format %wx%h :file", :file => "#{file_path}[0]") end rescue Cocaine::ExitStatusError "" rescue Cocaine::CommandNotFoundError => e raise Errors::CommandNotFoundError.new("Could not run the `identify` command. Please install ImageMagick.") end parse(geometry) || raise(Errors::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError.new("#{file_path} is not recognized by the 'identify' command.")) end At the point of my binding.pry statement, the file_path variable is set to the following: file_path => "/var/folders/91/63kgbtds2czgp0skw3f8190r0000gn/T/ror_tote.jpeg20121007-22732-1ctl1g1" I've also double checked that this exists, by opening my finder in this directory, and opened it with preview app; and also that the program can run identify by running %x{identify} in pry, and I receive the same version Version: ImageMagick 6.7.7-6 2012-10-06 Q16 as before. Removing the additional digits (is this a timestamp?) after the file extension and running the Paperclip.run command manually in Pry gives me a different error: Cocaine::ExitStatusError: Command 'identify -format %wx%h :file' returned 1. Expected 0 I've also tried manually updating the Paperclip gem in Spree to 3.0.2 and still get the same error. So, I'm not really sure what else to try. Is there still something incorrect with my ImageMagick setup?

  • Splitting string on probable English word boundaries

    - by Sean
I recently used Adobe Acrobat Pro's OCR feature to process a Japanese kanji dictionary. The overall quality of the output is generally quite a bit better than I'd hoped, but word boundaries in the English portions of the text have often been lost. For example, here's one line from my file: softening;weakening(ofthemarket)8 CHANGE [transform] oneselfINTO,takethe form of; disguise oneself I could go around and insert the missing word boundaries everywhere, but this would be adding to what is already a substantial task. I'm hoping that there might exist software which can analyze text like this, where some of the words run together, and split the text on probable word boundaries. Is there such a package? I'm using Emacs, so it'd be extra-sweet if the package in question were already an Emacs package or could be readily integrated into Emacs, so that I could simply put my cursor on a line like the above and repeatedly invoke some command that splits the line on word boundaries in decreasing order of probable correctness.

  • Alignment of Hebrew Vowel points in Android

    - by Aharon Manne
I want to display Hebrew text with vowel points (nikkud) using the Canvas.drawText interface. The vowel points come out misaligned, as in the following image taken using a Motorola Defy+ device: The hiriq is between the resh and the yod, the holam between the vav and nun. I have added the rtl code (\u200F) to the string at both ends, no joy. I know that there are applications that have solved this problem, such as the Smart Siddur. Is there a difference between text-based applications and graphics based? I would think that the same engine renders the text in both cases. I suppose I could split up the string and place the vowels separately, but that seems pretty painful and not extensible. TIA for any clues.

  • synchronized block in JSP tag class

    - by Sudhakar
Hi, I am trying to find answer for the following ,for the past couple of days ,but couldnt find comprehensive answer Problem Statement I have a custom JSP tag class which handles a web form submission ,captures data and write it to same file in the filesystem. As all web applications, this can be triggeredsimultaneosly ,and i fear that multiple threads would be in action handling each of the submission (we all know thats how Servlet works.) CODE synchronized (this){ final String reportFileName = "testReport.csv"; File reportDir = new File( rootCsDirectory, "reports" ); if(!reportDir.isDirectory())reportDir.mkdir(); File reportFile = new File (reportDir, reportFileName); logReport(reportFile,reportContent.toString()); } ISSUE: - A File object can be opened by one thread for writing and at same time another thread might try to access and fail and throw an exception So i thought of synchronizing (on the object ) should solve the issue , but read some where that jsp engine would have pool of jsp tag objects, so i am afraid that synchronized (this) wont work and it should be changed to synchronized (this.getClass())
