• The Fantastic New WebLogic on Oracle Database Appliance 2.9 Release is Here!

  Last week was a big day in virtualised ODA-land as it saw the launch of WebLogic on ODA 2.9. Admittedly it doesn't sound like a very exciting release but it is one that we at O-box have been looking forward to for quite some time. Let me explain why, then we'll look into the details... The ODA X4-2 has 48 Intel Xeon cores. That is a lot of compute power. Whilst the largest O-box SOA Appliance single environment configuration can in theory use all those cores (currently with 40 vCPU of SOA!) the vast majority of O-box users will want smaller configurations. Prior to 2.9 the Oracle WebLogic implementation only supported one domain per ODA, so the conundrum O-box development faced last year was either: offer customers only one SOA environment on their O-box for now (but have the benefit of a standard, easily supportable WebLogic installation), or build our own WebLogic/OTD OVM templates from scratch. One of our driving goals with O-box is to give the best possible experience and make the appliance as supportable as possible. Therefore we took the gamble that we would stick with the Oracle's one-domain WebLogic configuration initially, and just hope that it would deliver multi-domain support for us in a timely manner (note: this is probably not a strategy that business textbooks would recommend!). Anyway, we've been working closely with Oracle Product Management for a few months now and I'm delighted to see 2.9 as the fruits of their labour. This also neatly ties in with several recent requests for O-box to include OSB as well as SOA/BPEL (which we have always wanted to have in separate domains).   Consider a scenario where an application is built using SOA Async processes and needs to be consumed in a WebService Proxy. In this blog, we will be demonstrating how to implement this use case. To achieve this, we will follow a two step process: Create an Async SOA BPEL process. Consume it in a WebService Proxy. Pre-requisite: Jdeveloper with SOA extension installed. • Understanding Service Compensation part of Industrial SOA series

  Some of the most important SOA design patterns that we have successfully applied in projects will be described in this article. These include the Compensation pattern and the UI mediator pattern, the Common Data Format pattern and the Data Access pattern. All of these patterns are included in Thomas Erl's book, "SOA Design Patterns", and are presented here in detail, together with our practical experiences. We begin our "best of" SOA pattern collection with the Compensation pattern. Compensation is required in error situations in an SOA, as multiple atomic service operations cannot generally be linked with classic transactions this would violate the principle of loose coupling. An error situation of this sort will occur, particularly if service operations are combined into processes or new services during orchestration or by applying the Composite pattern, and the transaction bracket has to be expanded as a result. We need mechanisms to undo the effects of individual services (the status changes in the overall system) and to ensure that a consistent system state is maintained at all times, so as to preserve system integrity.   local install of wp site brought down from host - home page is ok but other pages redirect to wamp config page. I got all local files from host to www dir under local wamp. I got database from host and loaded to new local db and used this tool to adjust site_on_web.com to "localhost/site_on_local" now the home page works great and can login to admin page but when click on reservations page and others of site then site just goes to the wamp server config page even though the url shows correctly as localhost/site_on_local/reservations my htaccess file is this # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress and rewrite-module is checked in the php-apache-apache modules setting. now when I uncheck the rewrite-module is checked in the php-apache-apache modules setting or I clear out the whole htaccess file then the pages just goto Not Found The requested URL /ritas041214/about-ritas/ was not found on this server. Please help as I am unsure now about my process to move local site up and down and be able to make it work and without this I am lost...

  This recipe, taken from the recently published Oracle SOA Suite 11g Performance Cookbook gives guidance on how to avoid rule executions that will loop, potentially indefinitely! We’ll use an inbound XML fact and a local RL fact as an example. Getting ready You’ll need access to a SOA composite containing an Oracle Business Rules component in JDeveloper to apply this recipe. We’ll assume you have an XSD schema with an input type RequestInput containing input and bonus String types, and output String value called output in a type ResponseOutput. These aren’t efficient but serve as an example. We’ll step through adding a rule to a composite and creating an RL fact. How to do it... Open a SOA composite. Right click on the Project and select Business Rules (Service Components), use the search box if it is not immediately available. Give the rule a name and click the green plus icon to add the RequestInput to the input and ResponseOutput to the output types. Read the complete article here.   As part of our current project the Build Management team asked for a solution to undeploy multiple composites at one time. Of course you have the “Undeploy All from This Partition” menu option in Enterprise Manager but since we have a lot of deployments every day the guys wanted to have a script solution. It is even more important for the nightly deployments on our continuous integration environment – strange, we couldn’t find anybody who wants to do the undeployment via Enterprise Manager manually every night ;-) However with WLST or ANT the SOA Suite comes with two options to undeploy composites via script. In this article I’d like to explain you both ways. Undeployment with WLST You can test the steps below on Oracle's Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g. It this release, we have introduced some major new functionality and improvements. Web application firewall. Oracle Traffic Director supports web application firewalls. A web application firewall (WAF) is a filter or server plugin that applies a set of rules, called rule sets, to an HTTP request. Using a web application firewall, users can inspect traffic and deny requests to protect back-end applications from CSRF vulnerabilities and common attacks such as cross-site scripting. WebSocket Connections. Oracle Traffic Director handles WebSocket connections by default. WebSocket connections are long-lived and allow support for live content, games in real-time, video chatting, and so on. Support for LDAP/T3 Load Balancing. Oracle Traffic Director now supports basic LDAP/T3 load balancing at layer 7, where requests are handled as generic TCP connections for traffic tunneling. It works in full-NAT mode.   Oracle Enterprise Manager continues to expand its Eco-system with the NEW Extensibility Exchange! The Exchange offers a searchable listing of Enterprise Manager entities. Today it’s stocked with plug-ins and connectors for Enterprise Manager 12c and 11g. Anyone - partners, customers, ACE community members, anyone - can post an entity subject to approval of course. So in addition to plug-ins and connectors, the Exchange will have best practices, deployment procedures, templates, and essentially any Enterprise Manager entity that’s relevant. The Exchange provides Development Resources to guide contributors in the creation of plug-ins and connectors. A Community Resources page features plug-ins validated through the Oracle Validate Integration program as well as some other contributions important to customers.  You can also discover ways to get more involved with Enterprise Manager through the user and partner communities. • Adaptive Case Management Modeling with CMMN by Jessica Ray

  A new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with Adaptive Case Management (ACM) is now available, so what will that mean for requirements gathering? BPM project requirements can be documented using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0). For ACM, there is a new notation in the works. It is called Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN). For now, this notation isn’t included as a modeling tool in the new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with ACM, but it is possible that a modeling tool could be included in a future release. What is CMMN? CMMN is a standard intended to capture the common elements that Case Management Products use, the same way that BPMN is a standard for BPM products (such as Oracle BPM). CMMN is created by the Object Management Group (OMG) and is still in the beta version. In April 2014, OMG released the second beta version the CMMN 1.0, and the most recent version is available here. CMMN captures some of the elements that are commonly used when talking about ACM such as Cases, Milestones, and Tasks. It also introduces some elements that you may not automatically hear when talking about ACM such as Stages, Events, and Decorators.
