  • UIWebView in custom UITableViewCell

    i am not sure if this is a good route to go,...i have some data i receive from the web which in turn, populates a table view. The problem is, the text is html (p tags, etc). My first thought was to create a uiwebview in the cell, and populate with loadHTMLString. Fact is , it KINDA works. But, i then the cell no longer was the recipient of touches. SO, before we get too deep in code, is there a better way to populate the cells, than using a UIWebView.   • android compile error: could not reserve enough space for object heap

    I'm getting this error during compilation: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not create the Java virtual machine. Could not reserve enough space for object heap What's worse, the error occurs intermittently. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be dependent on the amount of code in the application. If I get rid of some variables or drop some imported libraries, it will compile. Then when I add more to it, I get the error again. I've included the following sources into the application in the [project_root]/src/ directory: org.apache.httpclient (I've stripped all references to log4j from the sources, so don't need it) org.apache.codec (as a dependency) org.apache.httpcore (dependency of httpclient) and my own activity code consisting of nothing more than an instance of HttpClient. I know this has something to do with the amount of memory necessary during compile time or some compiler options, and I'm not really stressing my system while i'm coding. I've got 2GB of memory on this Core Duo laptop and windows reports only 860MB page file usage (haven't used any other memory tools. I should have plenty of memory and processing power for this... and I'm only compiling some common http libs... total of 406 source files. What gives? edit (4/30/2010-18:24): Just compiled some code where I got the above stated error. I closed some web browser windows and recompiled the same exact code with no edits and it compiled with no issue. this is definitely a compiler issue related to memory usage. Any help would be great.... because I have no idea where to go from here. Android API Level: 5 Android SDK rel 5 JDK version: 1.6.0_12 Sorry I had to repost this question because regardless of whether I use the native HttpClient class in the Android SDK or my custom version downloaded from apache, the error still occurs.

  • Custom SSL handling stopped working on Android 2.2 FroYo

    For my app, Transdroid, I am connecting to remote servers via HTTP and optionally securely via HTTPS. For these HTTPS connections with the HttpClient I am using a custom SSL socket factory implementation to make sure self-signed certificates are working. Basically, I accept everything and ignore every checking of any certificate. This has been working fine for some time now, but it no longer work for Android 2.2 FroYo. When trying to connect, it will return an exception: java.io.IOException: SSL handshake failure: I/O error during system call, Broken pipe Here is how I initialize the HttpClient: SchemeRegistry registry = new SchemeRegistry(); registry.register(new Scheme("http", new PlainSocketFactory(), 80)); registry.register(new Scheme("https", (trustAll ? new FakeSocketFactory() : SSLSocketFactory.getSocketFactory()), 443)); client = new DefaultHttpClient(new ThreadSafeClientConnManager(httpParams, registry), httpParams); I make use of a FakeSocketFactory and FakeTrustManager, of which the source can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/transdroid/source/browse/#svn/trunk/src/org/transdroid/util Again, I don't understand why it suddenly stopped work, or even what the error 'Broken pipe' means. I have seen messages on Twitter that Seesmic and Twidroid fail with SSL enabled on FroYo as well, but am unsure if it's related. Thanks for any directions/help!

    Hi folks, NOTE: this is very very similar to this SO question, but I need some more help. i'm trying to make the following section in my .config file, but i get an exception when trying to access this section. .config file <configSections> <section name="foos" type="Ackbar.Mvc.Models.Foo.FooCollection, Ackbar.Mvc" requirePermission="false"/> <section name="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler" requirePermission="false" /> </configSections> <foos> <add name="aaa" something="zzz"/> <add name="bbb" something="yyy"/> <add name="ccc" something="xxx"/> </foos> Ok, so this means i need to make two classes classes public class FooCollection : ConfigurationElementCollection { ... with my custom overrides, etc. ... } and public class FooElement : ConfigurationElement { [ConfigurationProperty("Name", IsRequired = true)] public string Name { .. } [ConfigurationProperty("Something ", IsRequired = true)] public string Something { .. } [ConfigurationProperty("IsDefault ", IsRequired = false, DefaultValue = false)] public bool IsDefault { .. } } Kewl.   • WCF Custom Delegation/Authentication without Kerberos

    I'm building a simple WCF service, probably exposed via HTTPS, using NTLM security. Since not all users are going to be capable of using the service directly, we're writing a simple web front-end for the service. Users will auth with HTML to the web front-end. What we want is a way to delegate the user of the web site all the way to the WCF service. I understand Kerberos delegation can do this, but that's not available to us. What I want to do is make the web front-end account a specially trusted account, so that if a request hits the WCF service authenticated as "DOMAIN\WebApp", we read a WCF message header containing the real identity, then switch the principal to that and continue as normal. Is there any "simple" way of achieving this? Should I give up entirely on this idea, and instead make users "sign-in" to the WCF app and then do complete custom auth? The WCF extensibility and security options seem so vast, I'd like to get a heads up on which path to start heading down.

  • Sending custom PyQt signals?

    I'm practicing PyQt and (Q)threads by making a simple Twitter client. I have two Qthreads. Main/GUI thread. Twitter fetch thread - fetches data from Twitter every X minutes. So, every X minutes my Twitter thread downloads a new set of status updates (a Python list). I want to hand this list over to the Main/GUI thread, so that it can update the window with these statuses. I'm assuming that I should be using the signal / slot system to transfer the "statuses" Python list from the Twitter thread, to the Main/GUI thread. So, my question is twofold: How do I send the statuses from the Twitter thread? How do I receive them in the Main/GUI thread? As far as I can tell, PyQt can by default only send PyQt-objects via signals / slots. I think I'm supposed to somehow register a custom signal which I can then send, but the documentation on this that I've found is very unclear to a newbie like me. I have a PyQt book on order, but it won't arrive in another week, and I don't want to wait until then. :-) I'm using PyQt 4.6-1 on Ubuntu Update: This is an excert from the code that doesn't work. First, I try to "connect" the signal ("newStatuses", a name I just made up) to the function self.update_tweet_list in the Main/GUI thread: QtCore.QObject.connect(self.twit_in, QtCore.SIGNAL("newStatuses (statuses)"), self.update_tweet_list) Then, in the Twitter thread, I do this: self.emit(SIGNAL("newStatuses (statuses)"), statuses) When this line is called, I get the following message: QObject::connect: Cannot queue arguments of type 'statuses' (Make sure 'statuses' is registered using qRegisterMetaType().) I did a search for qRegisterMetaType() but I didn't find anything relating to Python that I could understand.

  • Difficulties using custom control - RichTextEditor

    I am working on a school project that uses ASP.NET. I found this TextEditor control ( http://blogs.msdn.com/kirti/archive/2007/11/10/rich-text-editor-is-here.aspx ) that I am trying to include but it isn't working. The error I am getting is: Error Rendering Control - TextEditor. An unhandled exception has occurred. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index. I see this error when I go Design part of the editor. I just don't understand this error at all. Also I am a lil bit confused as there is no parameter called index. :( What I have done is reference the binary in my project and then on the page I am trying to use it have registered its namespace and assembly with this line: <%@ Register Assembly="RichTextEditor" Namespace="AjaxControls" TagPrefix="rtt" %> I then go ahead and try to add the control to the page with this line of code: <rtt:richtexteditor ID="TextEditor" Theme="Blue" runat="server" /> Any help would be much appreciated. I haven't done anything like add a custom control before.

If i just remove the validator, the string value is correctly initialized to the value in the configuration file. What am I missing? EDIT I discovered that actually the validation function is being called twice: the first time with the default value of the property, which is an empty string if nothing is specified, the second time with the real value read from the configuration file. Is there a way to modify this behavior?

  • How to invalidate layout of listbox from custom children

    I have a custom panel for a listbox <ItemsPanelTemplate x:Key="FloatPanelTemplate"> <Controls:FloatPanel x:Name="CardPanel" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> The panel lays out its children using its X and Y dependency properties. This all works nicely when the FloatPanel is used by itself - I'm using FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsArrange | FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsMeasure on the dependency properties of the child items to tell the FloatPanel to redraw its layout. When I use it in a Listbox (code above) then it draws fine the first time, but when I drag the children (which modifies the item's X and Y) it is not notifying the Listbox that it needs to redraw the FloatPanel's children. I think the issue is related to the fact that each item in the bound collection is wrapped with a ListBoxItem. Hopefully I've described what i'm doing well enough that someone can tell me how to make the panel (or its children) tell it needs to do the Layout routines again. As I said it works once (initial draw) but then dragging items doesn't work (Listbox isnt aware that its children have changed and needs to relayout.) If I drag an item and then resize the window, the listbox does a layout and the items are drawn in their new locations. How do I notify the ListBox (or more importantly the FloatPanel in the ItemsPanelTemplate) that it needs to do a Layout pass?

  • Problem using custom HttpHandler to process requests for both .aspx and non-extension pages in IIS7

    I am trying to process both ".aspx" and non-extension page requests (i.e. both contact.aspx and /contact/) using a custom HttpHandler in IIS7. My handler works just fine in either one case or the other, but as soon as I try to process both cases, it only works for one. Please see Handlers snippet from my web.config below: If i keep only mapping to "*.aspx" then all .aspx requests are processed correctly, but obviously extensionless requests won't work: <add name="AllPages.ASPX" path="*.aspx" verb="*" type="Test.PageHandlerFactory, Test" preCondition="" /> If i change the mapping to "*" then all extensionless requests are processed correctly, but ".aspx" requests that should still be handled by this handler stop working. Note that i added the StaticFiles entry in order to process files that are on disk like images, css, js, etc. <add name="WebResource" path="WebResource.axd" verb="GET" type="System.Web.Handlers.AssemblyResourceLoader" /> <add name="StaticFiles" verb="GET,HEAD" path="*.*" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" resourceType="File" /> <add name="AllPages" path="*" verb="*" type="Test.PageHandlerFactory, Test" preCondition="" /> The crazy thing is that when i load an ".aspx" request (with the 2nd configuration shown) IIS7 gives a 404 not found error. The error also says that the request is processed by the StaticFiles handler. But I made sure to add resourceType="File" to the StaticFileHandler in order to avoid this. According to MS this means the request is only for "physical files on disk". Am i misreading/interpreting the "on disk" part? My .aspx file isn't on disk, that's why i want to use the handler in the first place.

  • [ASP.NET] Difficulties using custom control - RichTextEditor

    I am working on a school project that uses ASP.NET. I found this TextEditor control ( http://blogs.msdn.com/kirti/archive/2007/11/10/rich-text-editor-is-here.aspx ) that I am trying to include but it isn't working. The error I am getting is: Error Rendering Control - TextEditor. An unhandled exception has occurred. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index. I see this error when I go Design part of the editor. I just don't understand this error at all. Also I am a lil bit confused as there is no parameter called index. :( What I have done is reference the binary in my project and then on the page I am trying to use it have registered its namespace and assembly with this line: <%@ Register Assembly="RichTextEditor" Namespace="AjaxControls" TagPrefix="rtt" %> I then go ahead and try to add the control to the page with this line of code: <rtt:richtexteditor ID="TextEditor" Theme="Blue" runat="server" /> Any help would be much appreciated. I haven't done anything like add a custom control before.

  • Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

    I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble.   • trying to draw scaled UIImage in custom view, but nothing's rendering

    I've created a custom view class and right now just want to draw an image scaled to fit the view, given a UIImage. I tried just drawing the UIImage.CGImage, but as others have attested to on this site (and in the docs), that renders the image upside down. So, at the suggestion of an answer I found to another question, I'm trying to draw it directly, but nothing is rendering in the view and I'm not sure why.     I'd like to implement a custom post retrieval page in wordpress. Basically, I'm using AJAX to call this page that will be passed a post ID and retrieve certain data from that post. Note: please don't mistake this as a template question. I do not want a template for one single page -- I am looking to make this page query multiple different posts based on postID and return certain data from that post. So I tried creating a page <?php $args=array( 'p'=>'77' ); $friends = new WP_Query($args); ?> <?php if ($friends->have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <?php the_title(); ?> <?php the_content(); ?> <?php else: ?> <p>Sorry, no posts are available.</p> <?php endif; ?> But this does not work since it is not loading in the wp functions to handle the query.     I have converted postcode boundary polygons to point data (point[] for each polygon) from GIS Shape Files. I am wanting to show this in a c# windows forms application. I have managed to show this using the System.Drawing (GDI+) DrawPolygon() method. Graphics g = this.CreateGraphics(); Pen pen = new Pen(Color.Black); Brush brush = new SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(255,255,o)); PointF[] ptr = { point data here }; g.FillPolygon(brush, ptr); g.DrawPolygon(pen, ptr); Is it possible to add events to a drawn polygon? If so how do I do this for individual polygons. For example, click on a postcode polygon and a messagebox shows information about the postcode. Secondly, would it be easier to make a custom control inheriting the winforms panel. Is there a way to shape the border of a winforms panel control using a set of points? Postcode objects are serialised and stored in the filesystem.
