• What is the best way to detect white color?

  I'm trying to detect white objects in a video. The first step is to filter the image so that it leaves only white-color pixels. My first approach was using HSV color space and then checking for high level of VAL channel. • JQuery Dragging Outside Parent

  I'm using JQuery's draggable(); to make li elements draggable. The only problem is when the element is dragged outside its parent, it doesn't show up. That is, it doesn't leave the confines of its parent div. An example is here: http://imgur.com/N2N1L.png - it's as if the z-index for everything else has greater priority (and the element slides under everything). • How do I find and open a file in a Visual Studio 2005 add-in?

  I'm making an add-in with Visual Studio 2005 C# to help easily toggle between source and header files, as well as script files that all follow a similar naming structure. However, the directory structure has all of the files in different places, even though they are all in the same project. I've got almost all the pieces in place, but I can't figure out how to find and open a file in the solution based only on the file name alone. So I know I'm coming from, say, c:\code\project\subproject\src\blah.cpp, and I want to open c:\code\project\subproject\inc\blah.h, but I don't necessarily know where blah.h is. I could hardcode different directory paths but then the utility isn't generic enough to be robust. The solution has multiple projects, which seems to be a bit of a pain as well. I'm thinking at this point that I'll have to iterate through every project, and iterate through every project item, to see if the particular file is there, and then get a proper reference to it. But it seems to me there must be an easier way of doing this.

• I want to request JSON inside of a WordPress page.

  Hello Everyone, For the last few hours I've been trying to set up this http://code.google.com/apis/books/docs/dynamic-links.html on a WordPress blog. Google's API sends back a JSON response (which is supposed to be "put" into _GBSBookInfo variable). However, that variable never is assigned so my javascript callback function explodes saying the variable doesn't exist. So far, all of my javascript is in the WordPress header. I tried this outside of WordPress and it works fine. But now I am being asked to have it stay in place until user clicks anywhere on the document. How can this be accomplished? • Symfony 1.2 to 2.3 migration

  I've got a pretty big Symfony 1.2 project to migrate. First, I modified my .htaccess so I can have some pages handled by Symfony 2. What I'd like to do, to make the migration smoother, is to be able to render some SF2 action/templates/methods/... inside SF1. I added the autoloader to the SF1 app, so I can access to twig rendering methods and other stuff. But how can I call a SF2 action ? For example, if I want to migrate only the footer first, I would also need some php methods, not only rendering. That was previously in SF1 component, where should it be now ? If you've got any suggestion about the way of migrating, don't hesitate ! EDIT 1 : Apparently, the only way to do something like that is to render a full twig template, and/or in this template call some other partial twig templates with render(url, params). • Why does this attempt at preloading images with jQuery not work?

Normally, I get no alert boxes. However, if I open developer tools, and pause script execution, I get a single alert that says 0. There's nothign like a good old heisenbug! A live example can be found here. The script itself is called style.js, and it is clear that images have loaded. Am I doing something stupidly, or is jQuery playing up?

  Hello there, Here is the issue. Suppose there is a DOMAIN A which is going to be the server containing a PHP Script file. The data from Domain A is to be accessed by a Client at DOMAIN B. I know it cannot be accessed directly using JavaScript. So what I did is, in Domain A I created a a JavaScript file as front-end for the PHP Script which AJAXes the PHP and returns the data. But unfortunately it din't work I came across an example having PHP as a Middle Man in the client side. But I donot want to keep any server side PHP code as a middle man in the client side. • Script to install and compile Python, Django, Virtualenv, Mercurial, Git, LessCSS, etc... on Dreamho

  The Story After cleaning up my Dreamhost shared server's home folder from all the cruft accumulated over time, I decided to start afresh and compile/reinstall Python. All tutorials and snippets I found seemed overly simplistic, assuming (or ignoring) a bunch of dependencies needed by Python to compile all modules correctly. So, starting from http://andrew.io/weblog/2010/02/installing-python-2-6-virtualenv-and-virtualenvwrapper-on-dreamhost/ (so far the best guide I found), I decided to write a set-and-forget Bash script to automate this painful process, including along the way a bunch of other things I am planning to use. The Script I am hosting the script on http://bitbucket.org/tmslnz/python-dreamhost-batch/src/ The TODOs So far it runs fine, and does all it needs to do in about 900 seconds, giving me at the end of the process a fully functional Python / Mercurial / etc... setup without even needing to log out and back in. I though this might be of use for others too, but there are a few things that I think it's missing and I am not quite sure how to go for it, what's the best way to do it, or if this just doesn't make any sense at all. Check for errors and break Check for minor version bumps of the packages and give warnings Check for known dependencies Use arguments to install only some of the packages instead of commenting out lines Organise the code in a manner that's easy to update Optionally make the installers and compiling silent, with error logging to file failproof .bashrc modification to prevent breaking ssh logins and having to log back via FTP to fix it EDIT: The implied question is: can anyone, more bashful than me, offer general advice on the worthiness of the above points or highlight any problems they see with this approach? (see my answer to Ry4an's comment below) The Gist I am no UNIX or Bash or compiler expert, and this has been built iteratively, by trial and error. It is somehow going towards apt-get (well, 1% of it...), but since Dreamhost and others obviously cannot give root access on shared servers, this looks to me like a potentially very useful workaround; particularly so with some community work involved.

• I would like to know how to put a "change image" layer like in facebook on a mouseover event

  Hello: I have a photo gallery I would like that every time a user does mouseover the image, there is a button on the top of this image that appears. The user can click on it. But every time that the user mouse out of the photo it must disappear. It works like the "change photo" in Facebook, with the photo of your profile. The problem I am having is that when I try to get over the button that appears (in my code is a link), it disappear because javascript understands that the mouse is just out of the image, even if this button/link is over the image. The image that I use is positioned absolutely over the image.
