• InfoPath browser form submitting dirty fields changed through javascript

  I'm trying to submit an InfoPath browser form with fields that have been modified through the Spell Checker included in Sharepoint server. The spell checker checks all the fields in the page and once the user closes the SpellChecker dialog, it changes the textboxes with the new values through javascript. When I click Submit, debug the FormEvents_Submit in the form code behind and try to do a GetNodeValue("XPath to changed field"), it still shows the old values. I realize that this may be a problem of doing postbacks and I'd like to do a full page postback once the SpellChecker is done changing all the textboxes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.   Hello, I am trying to build a release version of my project. Our prof made us create a static library which i built using debug version. then i made a release version of that static library using /mt as my c runtime now in my test application (release version) I use the same runtime option and add that static library and also ignore the libcmd.lib in the ignore settings for the linker. i resolved most of the problem this is the last part lnk4075 /edit and continue due to /opt:icf specification compositelib.lib (my staticlib) lnk2001 unresolved external symbol _winmain@16. libcmtd.lib these are the last two that i can't seem to figure out.

• Windows service Null ReferenceException

  I built a windows service on my local machine. when I install and run it locally it works perfectly fine. When I try to move it to my production machine I get a null reference exception error. I've created an installation package that also works perfectly fine on my machine, but when i run it on the production machine the service still fails. The service references a .dll that in turn has references to 3 other dlls. when i build the project it pulls all of the dlls into the debug folder for the project... I've even installed the service from that folder and it works localy on my machine. I know this has to have something to do with the references, but this is beyond me. Any tips/hints would be appreciated.

• Ant build scripts totally hangs, with no messages in console

• Why doesn't Perl threading work when I call readdir beforehand?

  Whenever I call readdir before I create a thread, I get an error that looks like this: perl(2820,0x7fff70c33ca0) malloc: * error for object 0x10082e600: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug Abort trap What's strange is that it happens when I call readdir before I create a thread (i.e. readdir is not called in any concurrent code). I don't even use the results from readdir, just making the call to it seems to screw things up. When I get rid of it, things seem to work fine. • (Re)Enabling JavaScript debugger in IE7 with Visual Studio 2008

  Visual Studio 2008 comes with nice javascript debugging features. But I have played a little with NetBeans debugger wich has installed an ugly Script Debugger from Microsoft to my IE... Normally IE should ask what do I want to use for debugging, but now I can't start debugging with Visual Studio, the Script Debugger is started automatically... After uninstalling the Script Debugger I can't debug in IE at all. Even attaching to iexplore.exe process doesn't helps... Has installed the Script Debugger again... :((((( How can I get back my Visual Studio debugging working in IE again?

• How do I view Visual Studio BuildLog.htm files without cutting and pasting into an external browser

  This may or may not be specific to VS2005 (as that is the version I'm referring to for this question). I find often the case is that I see this in the Output panel inside Visual Studio 2>Build log was saved at "file://c:\\vsdll_example\MyExecRefsDll\Debug\BuildLog.htm" Now, since that looks and smells like a URL, I would have thought that I could simply left mouse click on it, or left mouse double-click on it, and a browser window of some sort would be displayed. No, that doesn't work. So, to view it, I have to cut and paste the "file://bla/bla/bla" part into an external window. Is there a way to set up Visual Studio to allow me to browse to that file directly, or view it inside Visual Studio IDE, or something to that effect, without the extra fiddling with cutting and pasting? Or is there some type of keybinding I'm not aware of? Thanks, bg

  Hello, I'm writing a C++ application. I realized that one of my worker threads may terminate unexpectedly. The (VS 2005) debug log says: The thread 'Win32 Thread' (0x5d98) has exited with code -858993460 (0xcccccccc). I surrounded all the worker thread code with a try/catch block. So, if the reason was an exception, I would catch it. But I can't: try{ ... Connection* conn = connectionPool->getConnection(); // unexpected exit occurs here ... } catch(exception& e) { ... } I have ten threads running concurrently, and only one of them gets crashed after some time, while the others continue running (and getting new [OCCI] connections). Is there an exception type that is not caught by "exception"? Or what do I not know about threads/exceptions? Thanks.

• A 110 kb .NET 4.0 app needs 10 seconds for a cold start, thats not acceptable !

  Hello, I am using the .NET 4.0 client profile for my app and I run a dual core with 4 GB Ram and a fast hard disk. nothing big is done at the start just showing a generic List in a wpf listview. How can I make the cold start faster of my assembly ? I have done now again a cold start and run the windowsapplication.exe in my \obj\x86\Debug folder and my harddisk run like hell and it took 10,5 seconds ??? What is wrong? The warm start after the cold one took 1 second. Java 6 apps has not that problem, not at all just to compare...

• Is it possible to show the download progress of a flash file?

  I know how to setup a preloader and I have that working. But when I debug the flash application and simulate a download, it has a blank background until a few seconds have passed. I know it is "downloading" the swf file and I'm wondering if I can show a progress bar for that, or do I need to have the swf file as small as possible and pre load everything needed and have all assets as a separate file I fetch? I found something with ProgressEvent.PROGRESS but this only loads after the flash file is finished downloading.

• Problems debugging using Cygwin gdb in Eclipse CDT(Helios)

  I am trying to debug an application using Eclipse CDT and cygwin gdb and I am facing a problem if my code calls Sleep(), it looks like whenever a sleep is encountered in the code the debugger seems to go in an infinite loop(I meant it never terminates or hit a breakpoint after sleep). On pressing pause the code is stuck on one of the thread on sigint::interrupt. Even my debugger console windows throw these error in the console output: [New thread 5968.0x1f98] Error: dll starting at 0x774a0000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x775c0000 not found. [New thread 5968.0x19e8] Any idea what are these errors about? It would be helpful if someone can help me out here as I am new to eclipse and I am used to using VS so it has made be lazy to be honest and expect things to work out of box. Here are more details if required Windows 7 x64 bit. Eclipse 3.6 Helios with CDT plug-in compiled from the CVS head. Cygwin latest from website, I think it is 1.71

• Sharepoint connected web parts question

  I have one web part (the provider) which displays insurance claims in a gridview. When user clicks on one this value(case number) is passed via IWebPartField interface to another web part(consumer) which displays detailed info about the claim. So far so good. I can select different claims in the provider and the details show up in the consumer just fine. The moment I add a TextBox to the consumer, the consumer no longer recognizes the case number passed. I need the user to be able to enter a value in the textbox and click a button to update that claim info. I can debug and attach to process and it looks like it is getting the case in the callback function, etc, but when it is setting parameters for the stored proc in CreateChildControls, it is null. Comment out the TextBox and it works fine. Any clues as to what is going on? Brand new to Sharepoint web parts...any help appreciated! thanks, PhilJ

• GetBytes Issue in Loading External Flash

  I'm trying to debug a gallery section within a site of mine. Currently the section display a number of thumbnails which visitor select one to view. Once selected, the main flash loads in an external swf. To make the process smoother, I have a preloader for this process using normal getbytes codes. However for some reasons, the flash works fine in IE but not in Firefox or Chrome. In these browsers, as soon as you click the thumbnail, the preloader animated away to reveal the holder of the external swf. However as it is still loading, the holder is a blank area. Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on why this is so.

  I'm using Visual Studio 2008 C++ and working on a dll project. Debug compiled and linked perfectly but when I compile the release version, it shows this: VImgPtr.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol @__security_check_cookie@4 VLibraryPtr.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl operator delete[](void *)" (??_V@YAXPAX@Z) D:\Source Code\VImgLib\Release-vc9u\VImgLib-vc9u.dll : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals If I selected Multi-threaded (/MT) in "C/C++-Code Generation tab), it linked ok. The problem is only when I choose Multi-threaded DLL (/MD). I'm releasing a dll, so should be /MD right?

This may not exactly be the right way to go about it, but I've stumbled upon something which isn't making sense to me. Code is like this: [Test] private void DeleteFruit() { BuildTestData(); var f1 = new Fruit("Banana",1,1.5); var f2 = new Fruit("Apple",1,1.5); fm.DeleteFruit(f1,listOfFruit); Assert.That(listOfFruit[1] == f2); } Now the fruit object I create line 5 is the object that I know should be in that position (with this specific dataset) after f1 is deleted. Also if I sit and debug, and manually compare objects listOfFruit[1] and f2 they are the same. But that Assert line fails. What gives?

  I am using N-Hibernate and have a class/table called Boxers I also have a prospect table which tells use if the boxer is a prospect. (this table is one column of just the boxersID) So i Want to get all boxers that are prospects (meaning all boxers that have there id in the prospects table) Public static IQueryable<Boxer> IsProspect(this IQueryable<Boxer> query) { return query.Where(x => x.Prospect != null); } this doesnt trim down my list of boxers to the boxers that are prospect... yet if i debug and look at any boxer it will have True or false next to each one correctly... Why isnt the where clause correctly trimming down the list?

  I'm trying do build and debug a small project for BlackBerry. During the build I'm getting this error Error preverifying class java ... I read on the net this error could be caused by referencing multiple projects but I tried to move every package in a single project but the error is still there. I tried with multiple JDE version (currently 4.7) and the Java compiler is set to 1.6. Eclipse version is 3.4.1 as recommended by RIM's documentations. Does someone have some clue?

• How to shutdown local tomcat server when closing browser window?

  Hi, I hava a web app running on a local tomcat server. When the user starts the app (via desktop shortcut) the server starts and the app is opened in a browser window. But when the user just clicks on the close button to stop the application the server is still running in the background - that's annoying. I tried to utilize the "unonload" and "onbeforeunload" events from javascript but unfortunately these events are also fired on some other requests in the app. So I can't use them, except I do a lot of refactoring. Does anyone have an idea for a possible solution? Btw, what I find interesting is the behaviour of Visual Studio when debugging a web application. When I close the browser window Visual Studio also gets a trigger to stop debug mode. So it seems it somehow notices the close event of the browser window, which would be exactly what I need. • How can I tell what files are currently open by a process (i.e. my app)?

  I am using a Lucene.Net index and want to give the user an option to move the index, but am having trouble closing it down so the directory/contents can be moved (I keep getting access denied exceptions). I need to be able to have some more information so I can debug this problem, such as being able to tell what files are currently open, and as much information about each use as possible. Alternatively, is there any way to simply force close a bunch of files so they can be moved? This would make things a lot easier to solve.

• Why is C++ fwrite() producing larger output in release?

  I recently wrote an implementation of the Canonical Huffman compression algorithm. I have a 500kb test file that can be compressed to about 250kb when running the debug and release builds from within Visual Studio 2008. However when I run the release build straight from the executeable the test file only compresses to about 330kb. I am assuming that something is going wrong when the file is written using fwrite(). I have tested the program and confirmed that uncompressing the files always produces the correct uncompressed file. Does anyone know why this could possibly be? How could the same executeable file be producing different sized outputs based on where it is launched from?

It seems like be stoped. After 20 min ,I just canceld build. It has been built well before. I just added some files(.h .cpp) and resorces(.bmp), not special code and it happened. • Import C + Makefile into a linux IDE?

  I have a project for Linux that i've been developing for some time. Basically it's a bunch of C and H files together with a directory structure and a Makefile. Every time I need to debug something it's so painful, I need to manually search for var. definitions, structs, etc. Is there any good IDE out there for Linux that will allow me to import those files into a "project" and that will provide code completion or at least an easy way to get my bearings in the source code? thanks!

• IIS 7 problem which does not occur under apache

  I'm hosting a little site using a JavaScript to draw a simple graph. It involves one html index file, some css and some js files. It has all been working perfectly on two different apache servers, but when I set up IIS 7 the ajax calls fail. I get no java debug errors in firefox that I can work with, or any kind of error message at all. Without going into the code itself, does anyone have a similar experience with IIS? This is the first time I'm using IIS so I'm not quite sure what to expect to have trouble with. I'd love some input on this, if I have to delve into the code itself I'll make a new thread, I just thought I'd see if this could be a typical issue. Any help is appreciated!

Though it always works in debug mode, but it sometimes fails while running. And the strange thing is that these two pieces of code seems absolutely equal for me.
