- by Emily

• How do I set the background color in swfObject?

- by fmz
I am using swfobject to display some Flash content (please don't tell Steve Jobs) and I need to set the background color of the swfobject content to black so it blends nicely with the black page it is on. I tried using the following code but it didn't change anything: What is the correct way to set the background color to #000000? Thanks.

• Placing a window near the system tray

- by user227990
I am writing a program that needs to set a window just above/below the traybar for gtk. I have tried using the 2 approaches that failed. One was using the gtk_status_icon_position_menu function and placing the window in the point where the user clicks (in the tray bar). The problem is that these solutions work in gnome(Linux) but not in Windows. In Linux they work because the window manager doesn't seem to allow placement of windows in the tray panel, honoring the closest possible. In Windows this doesn't happen and the window can go "out" of the screen which understandably is not desired. With this said i went out for a work around. My idea was to set the window in the location of mouse click and get the x and y coordinates of a normal window placement and with it's size check if it would be within the screen boundaries. If it was not make the correction. I have came up with the functions needed but for some reason the gdk_drawable_get_size(window-window ,&WindowWidth, &WindowHeight) and other similar functions only give the correct size value after the second run of the signal function. The result of the first run is just 1 to both size and width. (I have read the issue of X11 not giving correct results, but i think this is not it) event_button = (GdkEventButton *) event; if (event_button->button == 1) { if (active == 0) { gboolean dummy; gint WindowHeight, WindowWidth, WindowPosition[2]; GdkScreen *screen; gint ScreenHeight, ScreenWidth; dummy = FALSE; gtk_widget_show_all(window); gtk_window_present(GTK_WINDOW(window)); gtk_status_icon_position_menu(menu, &pos[X], &pos[Y], &dummy, statusicon); gtk_window_move(GTK_WINDOW(window), pos[X],pos[Y]); gdk_drawable_get_size(window->window ,&WindowWidth, &WindowHeight); screen = gtk_status_icon_get_screen(statusicon); ScreenWidth = gdk_screen_get_width(screen); ScreenHeight = gdk_screen_get_height(screen); g_print("Screen: %d, %d\nGeometry: %d, %d\n",ScreenWidth, ScreenHeight, WindowWidth, window->allocation.height); gtk_entry_set_text(GTK_ENTRY(entry),""); active = 1; return TRUE; } How can i do what i want in a portable way?

• whats wrong in this LINQ synatx?

- by Saurabh Kumar
Hi, I am trying to convert a SQL query to LINQ. Somehow my count(distinct(x)) logic does not seem to be working correctly. The original SQL is quite efficient(or so i think), but the generated SQL is not even returning the correct result. I am trying to fix this LINQ to do what the original SQL is doing, AND in an efficient way as the original query is doing. Help here would be really apreciated as I am stuck here :( SQL which is working and I need to make a comparable LINQ of: SELECT [t1].[PersonID] AS [personid] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t0] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t1] ON [t1].[PhoneCode] = [t0].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[person] ON [t1].[PersonID]= [dbo].[Person].PersonID WHERE ([t0].[codetype] = 'phone') AND ( ([t0].[CodeDescription] = 'Home') AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = '111') OR ([t0].[CodeDescription] = 'Work') AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = '222') ) GROUP BY [t1].[PersonID] HAVING COUNT(DISTINCT([t1].[PhoneNum]))=2 The LINQ which I made is approximately as below: var ids = context.Code.Where(predicate); var rs = from r in ids group r by new { r.phonenumbers.person.PersonID} into g let matchcount=g.Select(p => p.phonenumbers.PhoneNum).Distinct().Count() where matchcount ==2 select new { personid = g.Key }; Unfortunately, the above LINQ is NOT generating the correct result, and is actually internally getting generated to the SQL shown below. By the way, this generated query is also reading ALL the rows(about 19592040) around 2 times due to the COUNTS :( Wich is a big performance issue too. Please help/point me to the right direction. Declare @p0 VarChar(10)='phone' Declare @p1 VarChar(10)='Home' Declare @p2 VarChar(10)='111' Declare @p3 VarChar(10)='Work' Declare @p4 VarChar(10)='222' Declare @p5 VarChar(10)='2' SELECT [t9].[PersonID], ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT [t13].[PhoneNum] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t10] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t11] ON [t11].[PhoneType] = [t10].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t12] ON [t12].[PersonID] = [t11].[PersonID] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t13] ON [t13].[PhoneType] = [t10].[Code] WHERE ([t9].[PersonID] = [t12].[PersonID]) AND ([t10].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t10].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t11].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t10].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t11].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) ) AS [t14] ) AS [cnt] FROM ( SELECT [t3].[PersonID], ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT [t7].[PhoneNum] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t4] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t5] ON [t5].[PhoneType] = [t4].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t6] ON [t6].[PersonID] = [t5].[PersonID] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t7] ON [t7].[PhoneType] = [t4].[Code] WHERE ([t3].[PersonID] = [t6].[PersonID]) AND ([t4].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t4].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t5].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t4].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t5].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) ) AS [t8] ) AS [value] FROM ( SELECT [t2].[PersonID] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t0] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t1] ON [t1].[PhoneType] = [t0].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t2] ON [t2].[PersonID] = [t1].[PersonID] WHERE ([t0].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t0].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t0].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) GROUP BY [t2].[PersonID] ) AS [t3] ) AS [t9] WHERE [t9].[value] = @p5 Thanks!

• How to safely remove global.asax from web service

- by Niklas
I have a web service asp.net project which has a global.asax with empty Application_Start and Application_End implementations. As far as I can understand, in this case it is of no use and could be removed (correct me if I'm wrong). Do I need to do anything other than delete global.asax and global.asax.cs (such as change something in web.config or in the project settings)? Just asking in order to not screw up some dependencies I'm not aware of...

• Websphere 6.1, Datasource, two apps

- by asrijaal
Hi, I've got a webapp running on a Websphere 6.1 Server which JNDI lookups for a datasource. This webapp runs fine, the Websphere server recognizes the datasource ref in the web.xml etc.. Now we added a second webapp which should use this datasource with same configuration but I only getting a NULL Object when I invoke my JNDI lookup and a ClassCastException is thrown (which is correct). Maybe one of you has some suggestions?

• Mailer issue, PHP values do not change

- by Roland
I have a script that runs once every month and send out stats to clients, now the stats are displayed in normal text and in the shape of a Pie Graph, now if I run the script mannually from the command line all info on the graphs are correct, but when the cron job executes the script the values for the first client are displaying on the graphs of all clients. but the text is correct. I'm using domDocument to build the HTML and PHPMailer to send out the email with the Graphs embedded into the mail also use pChart to generate the Graph My code that generates the PIE graph is below include_once "pChart.1.26e/pChart/pData.class"; include_once "pChart.1.26e/pChart/pChart.class"; // Dataset definition unset($DataSet); $DataSet = new pData; $DataSet->AddPoint(array($data['total_clicks'],$remaining),"Serie1"); if($remaining < 0){ $DataSet->AddPoint(array("Clicks delivered todate","Clicks remaining = 0"),"Serie2"); }else{ $DataSet->AddPoint(array("Clicks delivered todate","Clicks remaining"),"Serie2"); } $DataSet->AddAllSeries(); $DataSet->SetAbsciseLabelSerie("Serie2"); // Initialise the graph $pie = new pChart(492,292); $pie->drawBackground(255,255,254); $pie->LineWidth = 1.1; $pie->Values = 2; // $pie->drawRoundedRectangle(5,5,375,195,5,230,230,230); //$pie->drawRectangle(0,0,480,288,169,169,169); $pie->drawRectangle(5,5,487,287,169,169,169); $pie->loadColorPalette('pChart.1.26e/color/tones-3.txt',','); // Draw the pie chart $pie->setFontProperties("pChart.1.26e/Fonts/calibrib.ttf",18); $pie->drawTitle(140,33,"Campaign Overview",0,0,0); $pie->setFontProperties("pChart.1.26e/Fonts/calibrib.ttf",11); $pie->drawTitle(343,125,"Total clicks : ".$total_clicks,0,0,0); $pie->setFontProperties("pChart.1.26e/Fonts/calibri.ttf",10); if($remaining < 0){ $pie->setFontProperties("pChart.1.26e/Fonts/calibrib.ttf",10); $pie->drawTitle(260,250,"Campaign over-delivered by ".substr($remaining,1)." clicks",205,53,53); $pie->setFontProperties("pChart.1.26e/Fonts/calibri.ttf",10); } $pie->drawPieLegend(328,140,$DataSet->GetData(),$DataSet->GetDataDescription(),255,255,255); $pie->drawPieGraph($DataSet->GetData(),$DataSet->GetDataDescription(),170,150,130,PIE_VALUE,FALSE,50,30,0); $pie->Render("generated/3dpie.png"); unset($pie); unset($DataSet); $mail->AddEmbeddedImage("/var/www/html/stats/generated/3dpie.png","5"); I just can't understand why this only happens when the cronjob runs?

• Is frozenset adequate for caching of symmetric input data in a python dict?

- by Debilski
The title more or less says it all: I have a function which takes symmetric input in two arguments, e.g. something like def f(a1, a2): return heavy_stuff(abs(a1 - a2)) Now, I want to introduce some caching method. Would it be correct / pythonic / reasonably efficient to do something like this: cache = {} def g(a1, a2): return cache.setdefault(frozenset((tuple(a1), tuple(a2))), f(a1, a2)) Or would there be some better way?

• Unexpected output from Bubblesort program with MSVC vs TCC

- by Sujith S Pillai
One of my friends sent this code to me, saying it doesn't work as expected: #include<stdio.h> void main() { int a [10] ={23, 100, 20, 30, 25, 45, 40, 55, 43, 42}; int sizeOfInput = sizeof(a)/sizeof(int); int b, outer, inner, c; printf("Size is : %d \n", sizeOfInput); printf("Values before bubble sort are : \n"); for ( b = 0; b < sizeOfInput; b++) printf("%d\n", a[b]); printf("End of values before bubble sort... \n"); for ( outer = sizeOfInput; outer > 0; outer-- ) { for ( inner = 0 ; inner < outer ; inner++) { printf ( "Comparing positions: %d and %d\n",inner,inner+1); if ( a[inner] > a[inner + 1] ) { int tmp = a[inner]; a[inner] = a [inner+1]; a[inner+1] = tmp; } } printf ( "Bubble sort total array size after inner loop is %d :\n",sizeOfInput); printf ( "Bubble sort sizeOfInput after inner loop is %d :\n",sizeOfInput); } printf ( "Bubble sort total array size at the end is %d :\n",sizeOfInput); for ( c = 0 ; c < sizeOfInput; c++) printf("Element: %d\n", a[c]); } I am using Micosoft Visual Studio Command Line Tool for compiling this on a Windows XP machine. cl /EHsc bubblesort01.c My friend gets the correct output on a dinosaur machine (code is compiled using TCC there). My output is unexpected. The array mysteriously grows in size, in between. If you change the code so that the variable sizeOfInput is changed to sizeOfInputt, it gives the expected results! A search done at Microsoft Visual C++ Developer Center doesn't give any results for "sizeOfInput". I am not a C/C++ expert, and am curious to find out why this happens - any C/C++ experts who can "shed some light" on this? Unrelated note: I seriously thought of rewriting the whole code to use quicksort or merge sort before posting it here. But, after all, it is not Stooge sort... Edit: I know the code is not correct (it reads beyond the last element), but I am curious why the variable name makes a difference.

My goal is to launch multiple Git Bash windows from a single script, each Bash terminal set to a different working directory.
