  I'd like to be able to generate a compiled expression to set a property, given the lambda expression that provides the "get" method for a property. Here's what I'm looking for: public Action<int> CreateSetter<T>(Expression<Func<T, int>> getter) { // returns a compiled action using the details of the getter expression tree, or null // if the write property is not defined. } I'm still trying to understand the various types of Expression classes, so if you can point me in the right direction that would be great.

• Is it possible to use inheritance in this situation? (Java)

  I have ClassA and ClassB, with ClassA being the superclass. ClassA uses NodeA, ClassB uses NodeB. First problem: method parameters. ClassB needs NodeB types, but I can't cast from the subclass to the superclass. That means I can't set properties which are unique to NodeB's. Second problem: When I need to add nodes toClassB, I have to instantiate a new NodeB. But, I can't do this in the superclass, so I'd have to rewrite the insertion to use NodeB. Is there a way around it or am I gonna have to rewrite the whole thing?

  What am I doing wrong here, I can't get the result of this division: aspectRatio = backingWidth / backingHeight; I've thought I might try casting to (GLfloat) but that didn't do anything. As I step through the code I see that aspectRatio is 0 after the operation, while backingWidth is clearly 768 and backingHeight is 1029. Here are the types: GLfloat aspectRatio; and // The pixel dimensions of the CAEAGLLayer GLint backingWidth; GLint backingHeight; It must be something basic I'm doing wrong here..

  iam using asp.net and asp.net-ajax every thing happens on browser urls are of format http://somepage#page1 http://somepage#page2 http://somepage#page3 now all these urls are in a secured folder when logged in user directly types (or use bookmark) a url like below, he is shown that page http://somepage#page2 -- (bookmarked url lying in secured folder) now when a user user who is not logged in directly type above url he gets redirected to login page but on login page in redirection url iam unable to read characters after pound (#) sign. iam just getting redirection url= "http://somepage" while i want it to be "http://somepage#page2" is there is any way i can do this

• No mapping for LONGVARCHAR in Hibernate 3.2

  I am running Hibernate 3.2.0 with MySQL 5.1. After updating the group_concat_max_len in MySQL (because of a group_concat query that was exceeding the default value), I got the following exception when executing a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause: "No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1" -1 is the java.sql.Types value for LONGVARCHAR. Evidently, increasing the group_concat_max_len value causes calls to group_concat to return a LONGVARCHAR value. This appears to be an instance of this bug: http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3892 I guess there is a fix for this issue in Hibernate 3.5, but that is still a development version, so I am hesitant to put it into production, and don't know if it would cause issues for other parts of my code base. I could also just use JDBC queries, but then I have to replace every instance of a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause. Any other suggestions?

  I have an abstract "GridBase" class with two types of derived classes "DetailGrid" and "HeaderGrid". Respectively, one is comprised of "DetailRow" objects and the other "HeaderRow" objects. Both of those inherit from a "RowBase" abstract class. What I am trying to do is the following: Public MustInherit Class GridBase Private pRows As List(Of RowBase) Public ReadOnly Property Rows As List(Of RowBase) Get Return pRows End Get End Property End Class Public Class DetailGrid Inherits GridBase End Class In this scenario, I want DetailGrid.Rows to return a list of DetailRow. I want HeaderRow.Rows to return a list of HeaderRow. Am I on the right track with this or should the Rows property not be included in the GridBase class?

• Efficient retrieval of lists over WebServices

  I have a WCF WebService that uses LINQ and EF to connect to an SQL database. I have an ASP.NET MVC front end that collects its data from the webservice. It currently has functions such as List<Customer> GetCustomers(); As the number of customers increases massively the amount of data being passed increases also reducing efficiency. What is the best way to "page data" across WebServices etc. My current idea is to implement a crude paging system such as List<Customer> GetCustomers(int start, int length); This, however, means I would have to replicate such code for all functions returning List types. It is unfortunate that I cannot use LINQ as it would be much nicer. Does anyone have any advice or ideas of patterns to implement that would be "as nice as possible" Thanks

  I have a control that I need to restrict the types of child controls that it can contain during design time (dragging a new control onto an existing control on the form designer). • Separating MySQL SELECT statement based on data in a column

  Hi everyone, I need to retrieve data (vehicle details, in this case) from a MySQL table tabled and then loop through the results to generate separate lists for each category of vehicle. Is there a simple way to do this without having to have a SELECT statement for each type of vehicle? If I were just doing this for one category, I would use the following: <?php $sql = "SELECT * FROM apparatus WHERE vehicleType = 'Support'; $getSQL = mysql_query($sql); ?> <ul> <?php while ($vehicleData = mysql_fetch_assoc($getSQL)) {?> <li><?php echo $vehicleData['name'];?></li> <?php } ?> </ul> ..etc. Need to do this for four different types of vehicles. • If I'm projecting with linq and not using a range variable what is the proper syntax?

  I have a query that sums and aggregates alot of data something like this: var anonType = from x in collection let value = collection.Where(c=>c.Code == "A") select new { sum = value.Sum(v=>v.Amount) }; I find it really weird that I have to declare the range variable x, especially if I'm not using it. So, am I doing something wrong or is there a different format I should be following? Also, keep in mind that anonType has about 15 different properties that are all types of aggregates (sums,counts, etc). So I couldn't do something like: int x = collection.Where(c=>c.Code == "A").Sum(v=>v.Amount);

  I have some doubt about python's class variables. As my understanding, if I define a class variable, which is declared outside the init() function, this variable will create only once as a static variable in C++. This seems right for some python types, for instance, dict and list type, but for those base type, e.g. int,float, is not the same. For example: class A: dict1={} list1=list() int1=3 def add_stuff(self, k, v): self.dict1[k]=v self.list1.append(k) self.int1=k def print_stuff(self): print self.dict1,self.list1,self.int1 a1 = A() a1.add_stuff(1, 2) a1.print_stuff() a2=A() a2.print_stuff() The output is: {1: 2} [1] 1 {1: 2} [1] 3 I understand the results of dict1 and list1, but why does int1 behavior different?

  I currently have a function that gets some data from the database and puts it into a dataset. The return type on my function is GenericCollection (Of CustomerDetails) If I do this: Dim dataset As DataSet = Read(strSQL.ToString) 'Gets Data from DB What's the most efficient way to map the dataset results to an collection of objects. More importantly, since I'm using GenericCollection, is there a way to do this in which I can call a function from the ObjectType class (CustomerDetails) that would have a means to converting that specific object. Or is there a way in which I can use a function that would handle all types? Is there a way to do something like: Return returnedResults.TransformDataSet(dataset) In which returnedResults is an object collection Of CustomerDetails, or would it simply be easier to have TransformDataSet return an object collection Of CustomerDetails by itself?   I am trying to implement order management module. There are different order types (approximately about 15). Each order has a seperate view. But the actions performed on UI are same irrespective of order type. Below is the structure of my DTO abstract class Order abstract class SecurityOrder extends Order abstract class TermDepositOrder extends Order ..... ..... ..... I am trying to implement a single controller capable of managing all views. Something similar to the one below: @Controller public class OrderController<F extends Order> { public F validate(F order) { } public F insert(F order) { } } I am not sure how spring mvc would be able to map request parameters properly to the order instance as it doesn't know which order instance to populate. Is it possible to achieve this with single controller or should I go with a controller for each order type and duplicate same code across all controllers?

  How would I translate this into LINQ? Say I have A parent table (Say, customers), and child (addresses). I want to return all of the Parents who have addresses in California, and just the california address. (but I want to do it in LINQ and get an object graph of Entity objects) Here's the old fashioned way: SELECT c.blah, a.blah FROM Customer c INNER JOIN Address a on c.CustomerId = a.CustomerId where a.State = 'CA' The problem I'm having with LINQ is that i need an object graph of concrete Entity types (and it can't be lazy loaded. Here's what I've tried so far: // this one doesn't filter the addresses -- I get the right customers, but I get all of their addresses, and not just the CA address object. from c in Customer.Include(c = c.Addresses) where c.Addresses.Any(a = a.State == "CA") select c // this one seems to work, but the Addresses collection on Customers is always null from c in Customer.Include(c = c.Addresses) from a in c.Addresses where a.State == "CA" select c; Any ideas?

  I have a code for best fit algorithm. I want to try to use the best fit algorithm using the operator new. Every time I create an object I should give it from the already allocated memory say, 1]20 2]12 3]15 4]6 5]23 respectively. which ever minimum amount fits to the objects size(eg.21) I wanted to do it for different object types, so I need to write the overloaded operator new to be common functionality for all the class objects. Can I do it through friend functions, or is there any possible way to do it.

  hi, I've installed Taxonomy SuperSelect module in my Drupal. Now my customer can not only type the tag for some content types pages but also select multiple tags using checkboxes. I've also ordered the chekboxes alphabetically. • Passing parameters among views in a navigation frame INSIDE a custom control

  I created a silverlight 3 application with a navigation frame and 3 views: search, add and edit. I used the app file to pass parameters among the 3 pages, eg: ((App)Application.Current).SNIPSELECTED = currentSnip; Then in the receiving page: currentSnip = ((App)Application.Current).SNIPSELECTED; currentSnip is a SnipItem object: public class SnipItem { public string itemID {get;set;} public string category {get;set;} public string itemDescription {get;set;} public string codeSnip {get;set;} } This worked fine until I decided to make this entire application into a user control and put that inside a second silverlight application with its own navigation frame and app file. The app files are getting confused. The first app file with all my parameter passing is not being read. I know how to pass a simple parameter between views in the first application without the app file (in a query string), but how about these custom types like my currentSnip above?

  I want to rewrite URLs so when a user goes to; http://www.example.com/applications/newWeb/www/index.php?page=48&thiscontent=2660&date=2013-10-11&pubType=0&PublishTime=09:30:00&from=home&tabOption=1 and if the URL contains thiscontent=2660 (which in this example above, it does) I want to redirect them to; http://www.example.come/index.php/publications/finance-and-economics/departmental-resources I have about 30 different thiscontent=XXXX types and imagine I’ll have to copy and edit this rule 30 different times for any links to my old website still knocking around out there. I have access to my httpd.conf file but have never done a mod_rewrite before. I also don't really need these showing up in the error logs as 301s. Will that happen? Because at the moment there are hundreds!

  I have sql statement one; select linkscat.id, linkscat.category from linkscat, contentlinks, links where contentlinks.linksid = links.id and contentlinks.contentid = @contentid and links.linkscatid = linkscat.id order by linkscat.category and sql statement 2 takes a parameter called @linkscat which is 'id' from the statement above; select * from links where linkscatid= @linkscat I'm running into all types of trouble trying to use many sqldatareaders, nested repeaters etc, but it would be great if all the work could be done in the one statement? • Best way to save info in hash

  I have a webpage that the user inputs data into a textarea and then process and display it with some javascript. For example if the user types: _Hello_ *World* it would do something like: <underline>Hello</underline> <b>World</b> Or something like that, the details aren't important. Now the user can "save" the page to make it something like site.com/page#_Hello_%20*World* and share that link with others. My question is: Is this the best way to do this? Is there a limit on a url that I should be worried about? Should I do something like what jsfiddle does? I would prefer not to as the site would work offline if the full text would be in the hash, and as the nature of the site is to be used offline, the user would have to first cache the jsfiddle-like hash before they could use it. What's the best way to do this?
