  hi all, I'm writing an app which connects to a static ip adress in a local network. How can I check if I have a local network connection? I want to connect to http://192.168.2.5 and i tried using the Rechability class but it returns FALSE, while the device is definately connected ( when i don't do the check, the app works fine so there is a connection ): Reachability *r = [Reachability reachabilityWithHostName:@"http://192.168.2.5"]; NetworkStatus internetStatus = [r currentReachabilityStatus]; How should work this out? • iPhone SDK Internet connection detection

  I'm working on an iPhone application that makes a few calls to web services. I posted this application on the Apple store but it got rejected (and rightly so) since there was no error message displayed to the user if no Internet connection is available. Since obviously the application would not work without it. So I just wanted to know how to best achieve this? I'm guessing something needs to go in the viewDidLoad method that will throw an alert box saying something like "You need an Internet connection to use this application". Any ideas would be appreciated.

• Entity Framework connection metadata extraction

  Hi, I am using the EntityFramework POCO adapter and since there are limitations to what microsoft gives access to with regards to the meta data, i am manually extracting the information i need out of the xml. The only problem is i want to get the ssdl, msl, csdl file names to load without having to directly check for the connection string node in app.config. In short where in the ObjectContext/EntityConnection can i get access to these file names? Worst case scenario i need to get the connection name from the EntityConnection object then load this from app.config and parse the string itself and extract the filenames myself. (But i obviously don't want to do that). Thanks

• Upload An Excel File in Classic ASP On Windows 2003 x64 Using Office 2010 Drivers

  So, we are migrating an old web app from a 32-bit server to a newer 64-bit server. The app is basically a Classic ASP app. The pool is set to run in 64-bit and cannot be set to 32-bit due to other components. However, this breaks the old usage of Jet drivers and subsequent parsing of Excel files. After some research, I downloaded the 64-bit version of the new 2010 Office System Driver Beta and installed it. Presumably, this allows one to open and read Excel and CSV files. Here's the snippet of code that errors out. • sqlite no such table

  can anyone please help. I've seen many people with the same problem and looked at all suggestions but still cannot get this to work. I have tried to unistall the application and install again, I have tried to change the version number and start again. I've debugged the code and it does go into the onCreate function, but when I go to make a select query it says the users table does not exist. Any help would greatly be appreciated. • What could cause "Connection Interrupted" on LocalHost when debugging in ASP.NET

  I'm trying to run a freshly created ASP.NET Website using C#, however when I do so it launches FireFox and attempts to connect to http://localhost:1295/WebSite1/Default.aspx (for example), but after about 10-15 seconds it displays a "Connection Interrupted - The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Error. This issue is also present with older ASP.NET C# pages/Web Services I've built in the past, nothing is actually running off the ASP.NET Development server. I am using: Windows XP Pro SP2, Visual Studio 2008 For reference I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition installed as well. I have tried: Browsing it with IE instead of Mozilla Trying 2.0 framework instead of 3.5 Reinstalling Visual Studio 2008 This problem seems so trivial the more I think about it, but I havn't been able to work it out just yet!   Is there an established way to determine whether the other end of a TCP connection is closed in the asio framework without sending any data? Using Boost.asio for a server process, if the client times out or otherwise disconnects before the server has responded to a request, the server doesn't find this out until it has finished the request and generated a response to send, when the send immediately generates a connection-aborted error. For some long-running requests, this can lead to clients canceling and retrying over and over, piling up many instances of the same request running in parallel, making them take even longer and "snowballing" into an avalanche that makes the server unusable. Essentially hitting F5 over and over is a denial-of-service attack. Unfortunately I can't start sending a response until the request is complete, so "streaming" the result out is not an option, I need to be able to check at key points during the request processing and stop that processing if the client has given up.

  I'm creating a new Client / Server application in C# and expect to have a fairly high rate of connections. That made me think of database connection pools which help mitigate the expense of creating and disposing connections between the client and database. I would like to create a similar capability for my application and haven't been able to find any good examples of how to apply this pattern. Do I really need to spin up an instance of a TcpClient every time I want to send a message to the server and receive a receipt message? Each connection is expected to transport between 1-5KB with each receiving a 1KB response message. I realize this question is somewhat vague, but I am starting from scratch so I am open to suggestions. Even if that means my suppositions are all wrong.

  I have installed MySql on windows 7 ... issue is i'm unable to get multiple connection to MySql . If I connect to MySql through command line and at the same time open an other MySql command line client it goes into wait state, as soon as I disconnect the first one later one gets connected. Because of above issues I'm unable to run tomcat in debug mode as it tries to get more than one connection to MySql in debug mode. Previously I was using same version of MySql i.e. 5.1 on vista and it was working fine.

  Hi, My application connects to MSSQL but sometimes it takes a while and the GUI is getting frozen. I would like to do the connection on the other thread, I guess BeginInvoke would be the best way (I know about background worker but I would like to learn this). I have studied MSDN page but I did not understand what is the best way to use? They also say that you can use only callback when the thread that called the async.method does not need to know the results...I dont understand it as I believe I can set some variable in the other thread to "pass" the result well. I would just need the GUI to be not frozen while the connection is being established. Thank you for your advice.

  Hi, I'm trying to use Putty 0.60 to log in to an OpenSSH 5.3 server. Connections with openssh from another Linux server are possible, but Putty fails. Putty's event log tells me "software caused connection abort" right after the DH key exchange, the server log doesn't report anything (set to INFO). I analyzed the traffic with Wireshark and got a whole bunch of "TCP retransmission" and "TCP DUP ACK" after said key exchange. Sometimes I was able to log in, but at some point (usually < 2 min.) the connection froze without any logged messages. Sadly, I didn't capture a trace. The server is my own (Funtoo with genkernel and gentoo-sources 2.6.34), so I may tweak it, but I'd still like to know what causes the error. Any suggestions? Thank you!

  I have a Apache + Haproxy + Mongrel setup for my rails application. When I hit a particular server page, mongrel takes around 100ms to process the request and I get the page in around 5 secs due to data transmission time on my slow home connection. Now I see that during these 5 secs of data transmission, mongrel does not serve any other request. I am surprised as that means mongrel is serving the response html to the client and is blocked till the client receives it. Shouldn't serving response be the job of Apache? This puts serious bottleneck in the no of requests Mongrel can serve as that would depend on the speed of the client connection. Is there any way that html generated by mongrel is served by apache/haproxy or any other web server like nginx? I wonder how the other high traffic sites are managing it?

  ALL, I am looking for a simple example of non-blocking socket connection that will run on Windows. I tried to Google, but all samples are either for *nix (POSIX) or blocking sockets on Windows. Looking thru msdn I see that it is easy to make a socket non-blocking and issue a connect(), but then you need some preparation in order to put the socket back. So, all in all I need something on a non-blocking socket that will connect and then put it back to be blocking. The read and write operation should be performed on the blocking socket. The reason for a non-blocking socket is that I need a connection timeout and there is no other way than non-blocking socket. Or is there? Thank you.

  I'm trying to connect to a mySQL database at http://bluesql.net, but when I try to connect, it gives this error: Connect Error (2000) mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication I've looked into this, and it has to do with some old password scheme used before MySQL 4.1. Newer versions have the option to use old passwords, which I've read may cause this problem. I'm running php 5.3, and connecting with mySQLi (new mysqli(...)). I'm hoping I can do something in the code to connect to the DB at bluesql.net - clearly I don't control how their database is set up. Downgrading php versions isn't an option. Anyone have any ideas?

  I am developing a server simulator for one of my client application. I am using GlassFish server. I have to simulate a http connection terminate condition in my server application. Is there a way by which I can explicitly terminate a connection from server side such that client does not receive any response header. Currently I have tried many options like closing the response outputStream. But in every case a http 200 OK message is delivered to the client application. I would like to consume the http-request and do not want to return anything to the client. I am using a simple conrtroller servlet and had overridden doGet() and doPost() functions.

  I am trying to consume this WSDL service: Transit Time Service I successfully connect and get a response the first time but on subsequent calls I receive the exception: The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the server. I overrode the GetWebRequest in the reference.cs file as such: protected override System.Net.WebRequest GetWebRequest(Uri uri) { HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)base.GetWebRequest(uri); webRequest.KeepAlive = false; return webRequest; } This hasn't yielded any improvement. I am at a loss as to what options I have now, does anyone have any other ideas that I could try so that I may avoid this error? Thanks in advance! Josh
