  • problem using getline with a unicode file

    UPDATE: Thank you to @Potatoswatter and @Jonathan Leffler for comments - rather embarrassingly I was caught out by the debugger tool tip not showing the value of a wstring correctly - however it still isn't quite working for me and I have updated the question below: If I have a small multibyte file I want to read into a string I use the following trick - I use getline with a delimeter of '\0' e.g. std::string contents_utf8; std::ifstream inf1("utf8.txt"); getline(inf1, contents_utf8, '\0'); This reads in the entire file including newlines. However if I try to do the same thing with a wide character file it doesn't work - my wstring only reads to the the first line. std::wstring contents_wide; std::wifstream inf2(L"ucs2-be.txt"); getline( inf2, contents_wide, wchar_t(0) ); //doesn't work For example my if unicode file contains the chars A and B seperated by CRLF, the hex looks like this: FE FF 00 41 00 0D 00 0A 00 42 Based on the fact that with a multibyte file getline with '\0' reads the entire file I believed that getline( inf2, contents_wide, wchar_t(0) ) should read in the entire unicode file. However it doesn't - with the example above my wide string would contain the following two wchar_ts: FF FF (If I remove the wchar_t(0) it reads in the first line as expected (ie FE FF 00 41 00 0D 00) Why doesn't wchar_t(0) work as a delimiting wchar_t of "00 00"?     Hi all, I keep receiving an error with the following code. I am trying to make a function that will format a field (content=0.0032) into a varchar/percent (content=0.32%). At the moment i'm just trying to get format to work, and it throws up an error "Error Code : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'len);" The function definition for "Format" is "Format(X,d)" where x is the number and d is the number of decimal places to round too.   • Bash scripting problem

    I'm writing a bash script to sync my iTunes music directory to a directory on a removable hard drive. The script works fine when there is absolutely nothing in the folder on the external hard drive. Once all files have been copied to the external drive, then the script begins to act strange. Even though i just sync'd everything over, it proceeds to recopy certain files again.     Hello guys, I'm using sinatra/frankie/facebooker to prototype something simple to test the facebook api, i'm using mmangino-facebooker the more recent version from github and I cloned the most recent version of frankie. I'm using sinatra 0.9.6.   • Problem in Apache CXF (Simple Frontend): 'Already connected'

    I am using apache CXF for the first time. I am trying to establish a connection based on the CXF simple front end (Configuration notes) technology. I can't really see what I've done wrong, but I am getting a weird error (see below). I have also posted this question to [email protected], but I haven't received a response yet. Perhaps someone here can help. The service bean that is wrapped here is a Spring / JPA service that does not know anything about the web, I want to use simple frontend to publish it as a web service without having to annotate it with Jax-ws etc. (This works in theory). I am able to upload files with out log in to application at the time of user registration. But once log in to application, if I upload files, it is giving "Access denied" error. Please help me.

I tried the following two things, which both didnt work. Any suggestions?   • Coda-Slider Problem in ie7, need to remove horizontal scrollbar

    Hello, I am having a big issue with coda-slider and ie7. The horizontal scrollbar is unwanted and I cannot figure out how to remove it. Since coda-slider works as one long scrolling div, I could see why this is happening, however, in all other broswers, including ie8, there is no horizonal scroll.     I've got a rails app with authlogic authentication and a username.domain.com structure built with subdomain-fu. But my session breaks when going from domain.com to username.domain.com. I've tried to add config.action_controller.session = {:domain => '.localhost:3000'} to my development.rb but that seams to break authlogic disabling sign out/sign in. Any suggestions on what to do?   • Git checking out problem [fatal: early EOFs]

    Dear all, I'm running a Ubuntu (9.10) server with Git (latest from Ubuntu package manager) installed. Access to the Git is via SSH. On windows machines, I'm using Cygwin to push/pull code. I can push my project code onto the server but when I do a clone or pull, it returns a [fatal: early EOFs] error at about 75-80%. Upon further investigation, it seems like textual data has no issue when pulled/cloned but when the jar files and images are pulled from Git, the error will occur. Any suggestion/advice that can help to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

    I have built a blog application using Ruby on Rails. In the application I have posts and tags. Post has_many :tags and Tag belongs_to :post. In the /views/posts/index.html view I want to display two things. First is a listing of all posts displayed 'created_at DESC' and then in the side bar I am wanting to reference my Tags table, group records, and display as a link that allows for viewing all posts with that tag. With the code below, I am able to display the tag groups and succesfully display all posts with that tag. There are two problems with it thought. /posts view, the code seems to be referencing the Tag table and displaying the post multiple times, directly correlated to how many tags that post has. (i.e. if the post has 3 tags it will display the post 3 times). /posts view, only displays posts that have Tags.   • Response.TransmitFile problem

    I have the following code delivering a file to users when they click on a download link. For security purposes I can't just link directly to the file so this was set up to decode the url and transmit the file. It has been working fine for a while but recently I started having problems where the file will start downloading but there's no indication of how large the file is. Because of this when the download should stop, it doesn't. The file is about 99mb but when I download it, the browser just keeps downloading way beyond 100mb. I don't know what it's downloading but if I don't cancel it, it doesn't stop. So, my question is, is there either an alternative to transmitfile or a way to make sure the size of the file is sent also so that it stops at the right time? I don't want to use writefile because I don't want to load the entire file into memory since it's so large. Thanks.
