    I want to replace a url querystring parameter with a new value if it already exists or add it on if not. e.g. The current url could be: a. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=5&version=1 OR b. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?version=1 I need the resulting url to be www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=1&version=1 I suspect I can use string.replace with a regex to do this the most intelligent way but am hoping for a little help with it from someone more experienced with regexs :) Thanks!

    I need to do some functions on some text field contents before submitting the form, like checking the validity of the customer registeration code, having the customer name as his code in customers table appending an incrementing number. I don't want to do it after the form is submitted becuase I need it to be displayed in the code field before submitting the form. My code: function getCode(){ var temp = document.getElementById("temp").value ; var d = parseInt(document.getElementById("temp").value) + 1; document.getElementById("customernumber").value = d; document.getElementById("code").value = document.getElementById("name").value+"-"+ d; } It all works fine, but the last line of code developed the code WITH the spaces between the code.

    to read a child node content i use : MYDATA = xhr.responseXML.getElementsByTagName("MenuItem") [INDEX].getElementsByTagName("PageContent")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; sometimes when the childnode data contains an HTML tag (eg b or br tags, because they have the <), i have problems since they are counted like xml tags (like childnodes). my question is how to get the entire data from a child node even if it contains other html tags exp : MenuItem MenuText menu b text b MenuText MenuItem would return "menu" !!! but i want it to return :"menu text" thank you guys, and happy new year

    Do you know when you use in a form the password field, like this: <input type="password" name="pass"> And you do a GET or POST submit to the same page who have the form and if the user hit back in the browser the password field gets blank. Well thats good, but i need to get blank another form field when the user hit back. Thats because i asking for a captcha and the text field who hold the information entered by the user ramain fill when he hit back, but the captcha image change, and if i dont blank the field the user (sometimes) dont get that he needs to re-enter the captcha.     I have a 2D array called "results." Each "row" array in results contains both string and integer values. I'm using this script to sort the array by any "column" on an onclick event: function sort_array(results, column, direction) { var sorted_results = results.sort(value); function value(a,b) { a = a[column]; b = b[column]; return a == b ? 0 : (a < b ? -1*direction : 1*direction) } } This works fine for the columns with strings. But it treats the columns of integers like strings instead of numbers. For example, the values 15, 1000, 200, 97 would be sorted 1000, 15, 200, 97 if "ascending" or 97, 200, 15, 1000 "descending." I've double-checked the typeof the integer values, and the script knows they're numbers. How can I get it to treat them as such?

    I am in need of some help with trying to figure out how to go about checking the users session and seeing if they are still logged in or not. The problem being is because i have a static page that pretty much loads everything into "tabs" using jquery. So when the user navigates the page, it really never leaves that same page they started out on. Hints my problem in trying to determine if they are still logged in or not when they click on update their information on their profile or whatnot.

  • Write a serverside c++/openGL App, that is accessible via JavaScript

    Hi, I am currently having an idea where I want to save an image from a c++/openGL application on demand from a browser. So basically I would like to run the application itself on the server and have a simple communication layer like this: JS - tell application to do calculations (and maybe pass a string or some simple data) application - tell JS when finished and maybe send a link, text or something as simple as that. I don't really have alot of experience with webservers and as such don't know if that is possible at all (it's just my naive thinking). And note: I am not talking about a webGL application, I just want to have simple communication between a c++ serverside application, and the user. Any ideas how to do that? Thanks alot!

An example would be nytimes.com (when you're reading an article and you highlight a word, the reference icon pops up). However the nytimes.com script is super complex. I'm 16 and not much of a programmer, so that is definitely way out of my league.

In order to make function calls to our back-end php code we've implemented something called an ActionProxy like this: function ActionProxy(action, input, callback){ $.post("ActionProxy.php?method="+action, { data: input}, function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest){ //return data.ResponseWhatever } }); The problem we're having is that using data outside the ActionProxy is impossible due to variable scope limitations (we assume), setting var res = data.ResponseWhatever or return data.ResponseWhatever is pretty futile. How would one handle these responses most appropriately so that functions calling the actionproxy can access the response values?
