  • Soft delete an entity in Grails with Hibernate Filters Plugin

    - by canotto90
I was looking for a way to avoid deleting my users from DB, but instead to mark them as deleted and don't bring them back in queries. I found this plugin http://grails.org/plugin/hibernate-filter, which was a great tool for the task. But when I tried to implement my solution, I passed trought same problems whose solutions wheren't (or I was not able to find) on internet. So, next, I describe the way that I solve the problem of soft delete.

  • Can continuations be used as a replacement for recursion?

    - by Sam
    The following function generates a 'stack level too deep (SystemStackError)' for n = 5,000 def factorial(n) n == 0 ? 1 : factorial(n -1) * n end Is there a way to avoid this error using continuations/callcc? Note: I know this can be implemented without recursion. e.g. def factorial2(n) (1..n).inject(1) {|result, n| result * n } end

  • Performance in backpropagation algorithm

    - by Taban
I've written a matlab program for standard backpropagation algorithm, it is my homework and I should not use matlab toolbox, so I write the entire code by myself. This link helped me for backpropagation algorithm. I have a data set of 40 random number and initial weights randomly. As output, I want to see a diagram that shows the performance. I used mse and plot function to see performance for 20 epochs but the result is this: I heard that performance should go up through backpropagation, so I want to know is there any problem with my code or this result is normal because local minimums. This is my code: Hidden_node=inputdlg('Enter the number of Hidden nodes'); a=0.5;%initialize learning rate hiddenn=str2num(Hidden_node{1,1}); randn('seed',0); %creating data set s=2; N=10; m=[5 -5 5 5;-5 -5 5 -5]; S = s*eye(2); [l,c] = size(m); x = []; % Creating the training set for i = 1:c x = [x mvnrnd(m(:,i)',S,N)']; end % target value toutput=[ones(1,N) zeros(1,N) ones(1,N) zeros(1,N)]; for epoch=1:20; %number of epochs for kk=1:40; %number of patterns %initial weights of hidden layer for ii=1 : 2; for jj=1 :hiddenn; whidden{ii,jj}=rand(1); end end initial the wights of output layer for ii=1 : hiddenn; woutput{ii,1}=rand(1); end for ii=1:hiddenn; x1=x(1,kk); x2=x(2,kk); w1=whidden{1,ii}; w2=whidden{2,ii}; activation{1,ii}=(x1(1,1)*w1(1,1))+(x2(1,1)*w2(1,1)); end %calculate output of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; hidden_to_out{1,ii}=logsig(activation{1,ii}); end activation_O{1,1}=0; for jj=1:hiddenn; activation_O{1,1} = activation_O{1,1}+(hidden_to_out{1,jj}*woutput{jj,1}); end %calculate output out{1,1}=logsig(activation_O{1,1}); out_for_plot(1,kk)= out{1,ii}; %calculate error for output node delta_out{1,1}=(toutput(1,kk)-out{1,1}); %update weight of output node for ii=1:hiddenn; woutput{ii,jj}=woutput{ii,jj}+delta_out{1,jj}*hidden_to_out{1,ii}*dlogsig(activation_O{1,jj},logsig(activation_O{1,jj}))*a; end %calculate error of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; delta_hidden{1,ii}=woutput{ii,1}*delta_out{1,1}; end %update weight of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; for jj=1:2; whidden{jj,ii}= whidden{jj,ii}+(delta_hidden{1,ii}*dlogsig(activation{1,ii},logsig(activation{1,ii}))*x(jj,kk)*a); end end a=a/(1.1);%decrease learning rate end %calculate performance e=toutput(1,kk)-out_for_plot(1,1); perf(1,epoch)=mse(e); end plot(perf); Thanks a lot.

  • UITableView section index overlaps search bar

    - by Snej
Hi: I want to display a section index in an UITableView with a search bar in the table view header (not section header). But the index strip is now overlapping the search bar. Is there an elegant solution to avoid this and let the index start below the table header?

  • What would be the total expenses of running an in-home web server?

    - by techaddict
I have several hosting accounts with companies, and plan to keep them. However, I would like to try my hand at creating my own home web-server, both for fun and for the learning experience. I would like to know the expenses involved, including: electricity costs (greater than light bulb?) internet costs (will I have to upgrade my internet? Or is 3-5Mbps upload speed fine for a web server with medium amount of traffic? Would I have to get a separate internet connection?) other unknown expenses Consider that I will configure the web server myself, so that is not an expense. Also consider that I already have a computer (year-old Dell laptop, 15R) to use to be dedicated as the web server.

  • How to implement wordwrap on jqGrid which works on IE7, IE8 and FF

    - by Brandon
How to implement wordwrap on jqGrid which works on IE7, IE8 and FF, while also having column-resize work (grid aligns correctly). Tried to innerwrap content on each td with a div of specific width (based on initial TH width), but colresize will not work on the divs I've inserted. jqGrid calculates the widths of the resized TH and adjacent THs though. Is there a better solution which will avoid all the JavaScript 'hacks'?

  • Use a MOO/MUD/MUSH for project collaboration?

    - by Clinton Blackmore
Jeff Atwood recently posted about working with a team of programmers remotely. He spoke of pros and cons and of communicating with the team. One of the comments to his article says: Jeff, have you ever considered running a MOO for this? you can have any features you want to add to a MOO- mailing lists, tasks, and so on. All it takes is a moo server and learning moocode. Leetdoodsnonexistentramblings.blogspot.com on May 9, 2010 2:52 PM It is not clear to me how to contact the commenter (short of signing up for a social networking service I've never heard of), so I thought I'd ask here -- does anyone know what useful things you could do with a MOO (or MUD or MUSH) to promote collaboration on a team?

  • Web authentication using LDAP and Apache?

    - by Stephen R
I am working on a project of setting up a web administered inventory database for my work (or if they don't want it then i'll enjoy learning about it) and hit the problem of allowing only authorized users to access the website (In its testing/development phase, I allow all people to navigate to the website to add entries to the database and query it). I am trying to make it so only particular users in the domain (Active Directory) are allowed to access the website after they are queried about their credentials. I read that Apache (I am using a LAMP server) has a means of asking visitors to the website to provide LDAP credentials in order to gain access to the site, but I wasn't sure if that was exactly what I was looking for. If anyone has experience in the LDAP configurations for Apache that I mentioned or any other means of securely authenticating with websites I would greatly appreciate advice or a direction to go Thank you!

  • Visual Studio 2008 - speed up Add Reference

    - by Mauricio Scheffer
Is there any way to speed up the Add Reference dialog? For example, has anyone found any way to open it by default in the Recent or Browse tabs (which is what I use 90% of the time), to avoid the other tabs' slowness? All I have found is this blog post where a lot of people complain about this issue, but no solutions... Note that this is not a duplicate of 8440 as this is not a general question.

  • Is there a way to reuse an XmlReader?

    - by uriDium
I have a process that uses an XmlReader. I have already done a lot to squeeze maximum performance out of it. So far we have had huge gains from using the Reader as opposed to XmlDoc or DataSet.GetXml(). We expect to get XML many times a second and I would like to avoid the overhead of recreating the reader every time. I have already cached the XmlReaderSettings but is there anyway to reuse the XmlReader or do I need to recreate it every time?

  • General website publishing questions involving domain forwarding issue

    - by Gorgeousyousuf
Even though I have been having a certain level of knowledge and experience about web development I have never interested in obtaining a domain and publishing a website from my own server. Since today I have been struggling with getting my own domain and configuring it utilizing web sources. I started with learning the outline of web publishing process including web server installation, deploying a website for testing purpose, router port forwarding, getting a domain and forwarding domain to my router which will also forward http requests to my web server I am confused about some parts and so far could not get the web site accessed from outside of the network. All I try to do is just for learning purpose so I do not pay much attention to security issues for now. I have Server 2008 and IIS 7.5 installed. I use a laptop and have access to the modem over wireless and my modem is Zoom x6 5590. Well I will continue explaining what I have done so far and what I think will be after each action I did, I have successfully had access to my website on any local computer entering the internal ip address and port pair of the host machine in a browser. Next, I forwarded port 80 of my host machine creating a virtual server like 10.0.0.x(internal ip(static) of the host) - tcp - start port : 80 - end port : 80 in router options. Now I suppose every request that will come to the public Ip on port 80 will be forwarded to my host machine(10.0.0.x) over port 80. So If everyhing went as desired, the website listening on port 80 will accept the request and process the issue and finally respond bla bla bla... I suppose to access my website from outside of the network by entering http://MyPublicIp:80 in a browser but I couldn't accomplish this task by now despite using godady's domain forwarding tool,I see a small view of my website when I click the "preview" button that checks whether the address(http://publicip/Index.aspx) I entered where my domain will be forwarded is available or not. I am sure that configuring domain does not play a role in solving such a problem since using public ip and port matching does not help. So here is the first question, What is the fact that I face this problem? After that, I have couple of question regarding domain forwarding using godaddy tool. Can I forward my domain to a any port for example port 8080 other than default http port 80? Additionally, can I use a sub-domain to forward to a different port of the host? What I want to design is if the client enters www.mydomain.com, website1 will respond over a specified port and after when a client enters info.mydomain.com, another website which listens on different port will respond. I tried to add a sub-domain and forward it to a address like http://www.mydomain.com:8080/Index.aspx with no success. Can I really do that? Finally, what if I have a ftp site listening on the default port 21 and I create a domain like ftp.mydomain.com that will forward to that ftp site address. Is it possible to use sub-domains for ftp site access? I know I am more than confused but no matter whatever and however you reply to me, you will help me have a more clear view on this subject. Thank you very much from now.

  • Ajax call to WCF service returns 12031 ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_RESET on new endpoint

    - by cyrix86
    I have extended a WCF service with new functionality in the form of a second service contract. The service.cs now implements both contracts. I have added another endpoint to expose the new contract operations. Here is my web.config relating to the service <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BasicHttpBinding" /> </basicHttpBinding> <webHttpBinding> <binding name="XmlHttpBinding"/> </webHttpBinding> </bindings> <services> <service name="MyNamespace.MyService" behaviorConfiguration="MyServiceBehavior"> <!-- Service Endpoints --> <endpoint address="xmlHttp1" behaviorConfiguration="XmlHttpBehavior" binding="webHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="XmlHttpBinding" contract="MyNamespace.IContract1" /> <endpoint address="xmlHttp2" binding="webHttpBinding" behaviorConfiguration="XmlHttpBehavior" bindingConfiguration="XmlHttpBinding" contract="MyNamespace.IContract2" /> <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding" contract="MyNamespace.IContract1" /> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="MyServiceBehavior"> <!-- To avoid disclosing metadata information, set the value below to false and remove the metadata endpoint above before deployment --> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <!-- To receive exception details in faults for debugging purposes, set the value below to true. Set to false before deployment to avoid disclosing exception information --> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false"/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="XmlHttpBehavior"> <webHttp/> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> From Javascript, calling 'http://server/wcfServiceApp/MyService.svc/xmlHttp1/Method1' still works fine. Calling 'http://server/wcfServiceApp/MyService.svc/xmlHttp2/Method2' returns the 12031 error. There must be something simple I'm not doing, any help is appreciated.

  • Which is better for running Ubuntu and other Linux OSes, Chromebook or Windows, why? [on hold]

    - by Serge
I'm learning programming and I would like to switch to a Linux OS, perhaps Ubuntu, to continue this, but the current machine is generally getting pretty old and slow and Windows is the least favorite option for production, and I can manage getting something new right around the price range of the nicest Chromebook on the market right now. However, I have compared specs of HP Chromebook 14 with those of regular PC laptops that roughly cost the same, and the latter consistently have approximately the same and sometimes higher (like the processor speed) specs. Yet usage of Chromebooks for this purpose is pretty widespread nowadays. Is this because they were initially built for a Linux OS - and is it really THAT crucial - or are there other major factors at play here?

  • MySQL query from subquery not working

    - by James Goodwin
I am trying to return a number based on the count of results from a table and to avoid having to count the results twice in the IF statement I am using a subquery. However I get a syntax error when trying to run the query, the subquery I have tested by itself runs fine. Any ideas what is wrong with the query? The syntax looks correct to me SELECT IF(daily_count>8000,0,IF(daily_count>6000,1,2)) FROM ( SELECT count(*) as daily_count FROM orders201003 WHERE DATE_FORMAT(date_sub(curdate(), INTERVAL 1 DAY),"%d-%m-%y") = DATE_FORMAT(reqDate,"%d-%m-%y") ) q

  • How to populate object dependencies with routing bapi

    - by Ben V
I'm using BAPI_ROUTING_CREATE to interface routing creation/changes from an external system. There doesn't seem to be a way to pass VC object dependencies for each operation. Does anyone know of a way to programmatically update object dependencies? I'd prefer to avoid BDCs if possible.

  • PHP: optimum configuration storage ?

    - by Jerome WAGNER
Hello, My application gets configured via a lot of key/values (let's say 30.000 for instance) I want to find the best deployment method for these configurations, knowing that I want to avoid DEFINEs to allow for runtime re-configuration. I have thought of - pre-compiling them into an array via a php file - pre-compiling them into a tmpfs sqlite database - pre-compiling them into a memcached db what are my options for the best random access time to these configuration (memory is not an issue) ? Thanks Jerome

  • Two identical fiber optic broadband lines working as one

    - by Katafalkas
I have been trying to find an answer to this, but all I can find is hobbyists trying to connect their Linksys devices to get some magic out of them. I am looking for a way I could combine two 100Mbit fiber optic lines into a single connection for our office. I assume it involves some Cisco learning or something similar. Do I need to configure some big router to load-balance the NATing in some way? I assume that many of you have done something similar and hope someone could share their knowledge or at least provide me some tips on how to do this.

  • Decent simple SQL Server client

    - by John
Hi, does anyone know of a very simple SQL Server client tool - that does the same basic functions as Management Studio (i.e. choose a database and run a query - doesn't need an Object Explorer, or anything fancy)? Ideally it would be great to have a single exe or zip file version that I could take around on a USB key - anything to avoid installing the full set of SQL Server client tools all the time! Thanks, John

  • Automatically select last row in a set in Excel

    - by Luke
In Excel 2003, I am trying to keep track of some petty cash, and have it set up with the denomination along the top row, along with a sub total and difference column. I want a small section that shows how many rolls of coins I should have, by taking the total amount, and dividing it by however many should be in a roll, and rounding to the lowest whole number. That part is fine. What I want done is for that ONE section (how many rolls) I should have, based on the last row that has information in it. For example, if the last row is row 13, it should read the data from B13, C13, D13, etc. I don't mind learning Macros, if that's what the solution requires. I don't want to be manually selecting the last row each time though, I just want the worksheet to know automatically.

  • Configuring Notepad++ to run knitr2pdf

    - by Stat-R
Sorry for such a basic question but since I do not have a degree in programming... I am a user of R, knitr and Notepad++. I was trying to configure Notepad++ to run pdflatex and knitr(knit2pdf). By googling I found how to do it for pdflatex but I did not find anything for sweave/knitr. The following are the good ones for pdflatex http://www2.sofi.su.se/~mbe/docs/npp_r_latex.pdf http://www.tlhiv.org/ma497/software/ I inserted cmd /c cd /d "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)" && pdflatex.exe -shell-escape "$(FILE_NAME)" into the runrun menu in Notepad++. I do not fully understand the command though. I will appreciate any help on this. Please direct me if you can to any resource for learning these commands. I will be grateful to get any help in configuring Notepad++ for running knitr.

  • Going from imagex/AIK to WDT

    - by lross1309
I was looking learning Windows Deployment Toolkit. I have been using AIK to create answer files and sysprep to clean the referece computer and imagex to capture and apply images. I have some .wim files I need to keep (they also have an answer file in them). I was wondering, if I start using WDT, can I import these images and have WDT deploy them or do I have to start over with capturing the images using WDT? If I can import, how do you deploy them in the same manner that imagex would use the images internal answer file using WDT? Leon
