While this appears confusing it works as designed. Instead of a full page re-rendering, ADF Faces events and components can trigger partial page refresh, in which only portions of a page are refresh upon a request. In addition, some components - including the af:popup and af:subForm - represent event roots. Event roots don't propagated event notification outside of the component tag boundary, which means that the ADF Faces lifecycle only executed on components that are children of the event root component. The PanelCollection component is an event root and therefore only validates and refreshes data of its child components.

• Cannot ping any computers on LAN

  I havem't been able to find a straight forward answer on this yet. I'm hoping people here are able to help! Keep in mind that I'm a complete beginner at this - this is the first installation i've done for any LINUX systems ever so please keep that in mind when answering this question. We are a complete Windows shop, using nothing but Microsoft products but looking into the value of OpenStalk however have been having problems getting Ubuntu Server installed and speaking to the network. The machine is getting an IP address which is telling me that some sort of DHCP activity is working but I'm not able to ping any computer on our network as well as not able to connect to the internet. Every time I try to ping i'm getting; Destination Host Unreachable I've tried using modifying the resolv.conf file with our static details to match my Windows 7 machine still with no luck. Even tried disabling the firewall on Ubuntu Server 11 and no luck. Any ideas? Please let me know if there is any information you need from the server and I'll post up.

• Priority Manager&ndash;Part 1- Laying out the plan

  Now that we have shown the EDMX with XPO/XAF and how use SpecFlow and BDD to run EasyTest scripts, let’s put it all together and show the evolution of a project using all the tools combined. I have a simple project that I use to track my priorities throughout the day.  It uses some of Stephen Covey’s principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  The idea is to write down all your priorities the night before and rank them.  This way when you get started tomorrow you will have your list of priorities.  Now it’s not that new things won’t appear tomorrow and reprioritize your list, but at least now you can track them.  My idea is to create a project that will allow you manage your list from your desktop, a web browser or your mobile device.  This way your list is never too far away.  I will layout the data model and the additional concepts as time progresses. My goal is to show the power of all of these tools combined and I thought the best way would be to build a project in sequence.  I have had this idea for quite some time so let’s get it completed with the outline below. Here is the outline of the series of post in the near future: Part 2 – Modeling the Business Objects Part 3 – Changing XAF Default Properties Part 4 – Advanced Settings within Liekhus EDMX/XAF Tool Part 5 – Custom Business Rules Part 6 – Unit Testing Our Implementation Part 7 – Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and SpecFlow Tests Part 8 – Using the Windows Application Part 9 – Using the Web Application Part 10 – Exposing OData from our Project Part 11 – Consuming OData with Excel PowerPivot Part 12 – Consuming OData with iOS Part 13 – Consuming OData with Android Part 14 – What’s Next I hope this helps outline what to expect.  I anticipate that I will have additional topics mixed in there but I plan on getting this outline completed within the next several weeks.  Thanks

• javaws crashes, error in ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

  I am running Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit client as Dom0 and Xen. I am having problems getting java up and running. Java itself seems to work fine, however I get strange errors, for example when I start javaws. I tried different versions and always get the same errors. I tried openjdk 1.6 and 1.7 as well as sunjava6 and 7. I alway get an error in the same lib All other applications are working fine, so it seems ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 is working fine. Any hints what could be wrong? • ODI 11g - Faster Files

  Deep in the trenches of ODI development I raised my head above the parapet to read a few odds and ends and then think why don’t they know this? Such as this article here – in the past customers (see forum) were told to use a staging route which has a big overhead for large files. This KM is an example of the great extensibility capabilities of ODI, its quite simple, just a new KM that; improves the out of the box experience – just build the mapping and the appropriate KM is used improves out of the box performance for file to file data movement. This improvement for out of the box handling for File to File data integration cases (from the 11.1.1.5.2 companion CD and on) dramatically speeds up the file integration handling. In the past I had seem some consultants write perl versions of the file to file integration case, now Oracle ships this KM to fill the gap. You can find the documentation for the IKM here. The KM uses pure java to perform the integration, using java.io classes to read and write the file in a pipe – it uses java threading in order to super-charge the file processing, and can process several source files at once when the datastore's resource name contains a wildcard. This is a big step for regular file processing on the way to super-charging big data files using Hadoop – the KM works with the lightweight agent and regular filesystems. So in my design below transforming a bunch of files, by default the IKM File to File (Java) knowledge module was assigned. I pointed the KM at my JDK (since the KM generates and compiles java), and I also increased the thread count to 2, to take advantage of my 2 processors. For my illustration I transformed (can also filter if desired) and moved about 1.3Gb with 2 threads in 140 seconds (with a single thread it took 220 seconds) - by no means was this on any super computer by the way. The great thing here is that it worked well out of the box from the design to the execution without any funky configuration, plus, and a big plus it was much faster than before, So if you are doing any file to file transformations, check it out!

  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information Even though today is April fools day, it is my MVP renewal date. So, there is always the chance of thinking not being renewed as an April fools joke.  Well, I get to postpone that joke one more time. It looks like, I’ve been renewed again. WAHOOO!! :) Thank you Microsoft, and thank you to everyone one of you for your support and best wishes, and most of all, thanks to our MVP lead, Melissa – many don’t realize it, but it’s a tough job she has to do. Think about it, all the people who are MVPs, those who no longer will be, and those who want to be. 11 years ago when I got my first award, my love for technology was insane. Today, it is worse.I will remain a technologist until I die, even after I retire and grow crinkly. I would want my dentures fitted with Microprocessors.Technology is what I passionately love doing.   I have setup an intranet email system using postfix, dovecot and squirrel mail, Which is working fine, I can send and receive mail to all users on the system. I presume that the issue is in the postfix configuration, because when I configure Thunderbird to send mail I am getting the following error: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 4.1.8 <[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found. Please check the message recipient [email protected] and try again. Also here is the relevant syslog entries: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from host1.intranetdomain.com [More Information] [192.168.11.1 [More Information] ]: 450 4.1.8 <[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<[127.0.0.1 [More Information] ]> I have configured MX records on the DNS server and they respond appropriately when I query them for those MX records, so I do not think that is the issue. I think that my issue is caused by the default configuration of: smtpd_recipient_restrictions = reject_unknown_sender_domain, reject_unknown_recipient_domain, reject_unauth_pipelining, permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination smtpd_sender_restrictions = reject_unknown_sender_domain Since this is on an internal network and it will not be exposed to the internet as a whole which options can I remove safely?

• Oracle Java Olympics Between Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan

  Last month, 151 universities in 11 locations (Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Donetsk, Tomsk, Odessa, Rostov-on-Don, Ekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Almaty, Kiev, and Samara) competed in the second round of the Oracle Java Olympics. For two weeks in February, the best university students from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan were invited to compete with each other and prove just how good they are in Java programming.  A team of engineers from Oracle Development center in Saint-Petersburg prepared the set of problems to solve during the competition. To win, participants needed to show deep knowledge of Java technologies from Classloader and NIO to Reflection and JavaDB. Students in each location had a PC with Oracle JDK 1.7u2 and Netbeans 7.1.  As a testing system, the organizers used the open source software Ejudge (with several tweaks specifically for the competition).  Participants submitted their solutions to the remote server where they were tested by prepared test harnesses. All results were posted in real-time. "I followed the competition coming in from the many sites, and it was a really exciting experience, like a horse race or football game!" exclaimed Java Evangelist Alexander Belokrylov. Congratulations to everyone who competed! The Olympic finals will on April 4th.
