I can see from the server log files that the script does not arrive on the Project page. I am new to webrat and quite new to ruby and I am now thoroughly confused. I have no idea why the response.body is gone. I have no idea where I am. I speculated that I had to wait for the page request, but all documentation says that webrat nicely waits till all redirects, pageloads, etc are finished. (At least I think I read that). Besides I find no method to wait for the page in the webrat API. Can someone give some tips on how to proceed with debugging this?

    Hi All, I had a problem when I am using Cilk++, an extension to C++ for parallel computing.     I've got a BaseDataClass with shared fields and functions Protected Shared dbase as SqlDatabase Protected Shared dbCommand as DBCommand ... //also have a sync object used by the derived classes for Synclock'ing Protected Shared ReadOnly syncObj As Object = New Object() Protected Shared Sub Init() //initializes fields, sets connections Protected Shared Sub CleanAll() //closes connections, disposes, etc. I have several classes that derive from this base class. The derived classes have all Shared functions that can be called directly from the BLL with no instantiation. The functions in these derived classes call the base Init(), call their specific stored procs, call the base CleanAll() and then return the results. So if I have 5 derived classes with 10 functions each, totaling 50 possible function calls, since they are all Shared, the CLR only calls one at a time, right? All calls are queued to wait until each Shared function completes. Is there a better design with having Shared functions in your DAL and still have base class functions? Or since I have a base class, is it better to move towards instance methods within the DAL?

  • How can I force maven to use my mock version of dependencies during the test phase.

    Hi, so I have a Java application with a that accesses some web services. I want to mock out the appropriate classes so I can just use a few hard coded request/responses and I want maven to seamlessly use them during the tests and ignore them during the final build. I want maven2 to: 1)compile my mock classes 2)compile the main classes that depend on the mocked code 3)run tests 4)recompile any main classes with the real dependencies, not my mocks 5)finish up the maven install Ideally I want to just name my mock classes the same as my main class and just keep them in src/test/mocks or something. I'm kind of new to maven and so far it looks like maven will only compile the src/main and then src/test but I'm hoping I can have my way. Any ideas?

After implementing these in ios5 map view coming like this In Ios6 This one not coming properly as like in ios5. for example

    Hi, I have a set of functional jars(more than 3) that tests my source code. These jars just contains test classes and assisting asserter classes. I am creating a new performance jar that would import all the functional tests from these jars so that all can be run simultaneously. But when I include them as test dependencies in pom of current jar, what all I get to see is the classes in src/main/java. How can I include these functional jars as dependent jars so that I can also reference classes in src/test/java. In other words, how do I reference the test classes in other jars. In what way should I include the dependency as. Thanks for your support.

    I'm planning on using CXF's rest implementation. I'm thinking of simply annotating my entity classes with jaxb annotations, such as @XmlRootElement, in order to create response objects. The benefit being avoidance of code duplication. As for the (client) request object, which will be used by a separate web app, I'm thinking of 'copying' the entity classes, removing the orm annotations, and adding jaxb annotations. Based on the above: Are there any dangers of creating request/response objects from entity classes? My entity classes contain relational properties, if I were to annotate them with @XmlRootElement, how can I stop the relational properties from being added (or considered apart of) to the response object? Is there a better/easier way to create request objects rather than copying the entity classes, removing/adding annotations?

  • Proper network configuration for a KVM guest to be on the same networks at the host

    I am running a Debian Linux server on Lenny. Within it, I am running another Lenny instance using KVM. Both servers are externally available, with public IPs, as well as a second interface with private IPs for the LAN. Everything works fine, except the VM sees all network traffic as originating from the host server. I suspect this might have something to do with the iptables-based firewall I'm running on the host. What I'd like to figure out is: how to I properly configure the host's networking such that all of these requirements are met? Both host and VMs have 2 network interfaces (public and private). Both host and VMs can be independently firewalled. Ideally, VM traffic does not have to traverse the host firewall. VMs see real remote IP addresses, not the host's.   • Unable to access intel fake RAID 1 array in Fedora 14 after reboot

    Hello everyone, 1st I am relatively new to linux (but not to *nix). I have 4 disks assembled in the following intel ahci bios fake raid arrays: 2x320GB RAID1 - used for operating systems md126 2x1TB RAID1 - used for data md125 I have used the raid of size 320GB to install my operating system and the second raid I didn't even select during the installation of Fedora 14. After successful partitioning and installation of Fedora, I tried to make the second array available, it was possible to make it visible in linux with mdadm --assembe --scan , after that I created one maximum size partition and 1 maximum size ext4 filesystem in it. Mounted, and used it. After restart - a few I/O errors during boot regarding md125 + inability to mount the filesystem on it and dropped into repair shell. I commented the filesystem in fstab and it booted.   • C# Proposal: Compile Time Static Checking Of Dynamic Objects

    C# 4.0 introduces a new type: dynamic. dynamic is a static type that bypasses static type checking. This new type comes in very handy to work with: The new languages from the dynamic language runtime. HTML Document Object Model (DOM). COM objects. Duck typing … Because static type checking is bypassed, this: dynamic dynamicValue = GetValue(); dynamicValue.Method(); is equivalent to this: object objectValue = GetValue(); objectValue .GetType() .InvokeMember( "Method", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, objectValue, null); Apart from caching the call site behind the scenes and some dynamic resolution, dynamic only looks better. Any typing error will only be caught at run time. In fact, if I’m writing the code, I know the contract of what I’m calling. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the compiler do some static type checking on the interactions with these dynamic objects? Imagine that the dynamic object that I’m retrieving from the GetValue method, besides the parameterless method Method also has a string read-only Property property. This means that, from the point of view of the code I’m writing, the contract that the dynamic object returned by GetValue implements is: string Property { get; } void Method(); Since it’s a well defined contract, I could write an interface to represent it: interface IValue { string Property { get; } void Method(); } If dynamic allowed to specify the contract in the form of dynamic(contract), I could write this: dynamic(IValue) dynamicValue = GetValue(); dynamicValue.Method(); This doesn’t mean that the value returned by GetValue has to implement the IValue interface. It just enables the compiler to verify that dynamicValue.Method() is a valid use of dynamicValue and dynamicValue.OtherMethod() isn’t. If the IValue interface already existed for any other reason, this would be fine. But having a type added to an assembly just for compile time usage doesn’t seem right. So, dynamic could be another type construct. Something like this: dynamic DValue { string Property { get; } void Method(); } The code could now be written like this; DValue dynamicValue = GetValue(); dynamicValue.Method(); The compiler would never generate any IL or metadata for this new type construct. It would only thee used for compile type static checking of dynamic objects. As a consequence, it makes no sense to have public accessibility, so it would not be allowed. Once again, if the IValue interface (or any other type definition) already exists, it can be used in the dynamic type definition: dynamic DValue : IValue, IEnumerable, SomeClass { string Property { get; } void Method(); } Another added benefit would be IntelliSense.   • What is the best practice, point of view of well experienced developers

    My manager pushes me to use his self defined best practices. All of these practices are based on is own assumptions. I disagree with them and I would like to have some feedback of well experienced people about these practices. I would prefer answers from people involved in the maintenance of huge products and people whom have maintained the product for years. Developers with 15+ years of experience are preferred because my manager has that much experience himself. I have 7 years of experience. Here are the practices he wants me to use: never extends classes, use composition and interface instead because extending classes are unmaintainable and difficult to debug. What I think about that Extend when needed, respect "Liskov's Substitution Principle" and you'll never be stuck with a problem, but prefer composition and decoration. I don't know any serious project which has banned inheriting, sometimes it's impossible to not use that, i.e. in a UI framework. Design patterns are just unusable. In PHP, for simple use cases (for example a user needs a web interface to view a database table), his "best practice" is: copy some random php code wich we own, paste and modify it, put html and php code in same file, never use classes in PHP, it doesn't work well for small jobs, and in fact it doesn't work well at all, there is no good tool to work with. Copy & paste PHP code is good practice for maintenance because scripts are independent, if you have a bug somewhere you can fix it without side effects. What I think about that: NEVER EVER COPY code or do it because you have five minutes to deliver something, you will do some refactoring after that. Copy & paste code is a beginners error, if you have errors you'll have the error everywhere any time you have pasted it's a nightmare to maintain. If you repsect the "Open Close Principle" you'll rarely get edge effects, use unit test if you are afraid of that. For small jobs in PHP use at least something you get or write the HTML separately from the PHP code and reuse it any time you need it. Classes in PHP are mature, not as mature as other languages like python or java, but they are usable. There is tools to work with classes in PHP like Zend Studio that work very well. The use of classes or not depends not on the language you use but the programming paradigm you have choosen. I'm a OOP developer, I use PHP5, why do I have to shoot myself in the foot? When you find a simple bug in the code, and you can fix it simply, if you are not working on the code where you have found it, never fix it, even if it takes 5 seconds. He says to me his "best practices" are driven by the fact that he has a lot of experience in maintaining software in production (14 years) and he now knows what works and what doesn't work, what the community says is a fad, and the people advocating such principles as never copy & paste code, are not evolved in maintaining applications. What I think about that: If you find a bug fix it if you can do it quickly inform the people who've touched that code before, check if you have not introduced a new bug, ideally add a unit test for it. I currently work on a web commerce project, which serves 15k unique users per day. The code base has to be maintained and has been maintained this way since 2005. Ideally you include a short description of your position and experience in terms of years effectively maintaining an application which has been in production for real.
