    Is there a way to capture all requests to arbitrary sub-domains which do not have a virtual host setup, and redirect to a custom 404 page in nginx? I will have a wild card A record setup *.example.com and all our users will have a sub-domain username.example.com. If someone enters a sub-domain which does not exist how can I redirect to a custom 404 page rather than have it resolve since wild card is setup?

  • what software will rip a CD to flac files in one step?

    I'm using EAC to rip files to FLAC. Seems fine. But for a large amount of CDs (200 or so) the process is a little labor intensive. There's 4 or 5 clicks in there that seem extraneous -- EAC seems to want to rip the CD to a set of WAV files then (after all those files are ripped) I have to select "Process WAV files" (I'd get it exact, but EAC is occupied right now). I'd like to send all of it to FLAC files in just a few steps: get cddb info, select art, rip. Is there a way to do this with EAC that I'm missing? Haven't been able to find anything on the web that explains this. Is there a better program for this?

  • Is it possible to configure a CDN so that it will step out of the way for a subset of regional IPs?

    We have a website which targets customers in China, both expat and local Chinese. We have an ICP license which allows us to host in a datacenter inside China. Internet in China is actually as fast as anywhere else (faster than most places actually), so long as the content is served-up within the boundaries of the Great-Firewall. Anything that crosses the wall is horribly slow. The problem is that most expats have some sort of VPN installed so that they can access all the blocked stuff. What this means is that when they access our site, the traffic first has to go out of China through the firewall to their VPN, and then back in. The performance is terrible, worse than if we were just hosting outside of China directly (which we used to do before the ICP was issued). So I want to use a global CDN to mirror the site automatically, but I only want to deliver the content via the CDN if the user's request IP address is outside of China. Inside China I would like the content to be served by our own server. I also want to be careful with the domain names. We currently use www.xxx.com and www.xxx.cn for language selection purposes, as these perform well in SEO on Google (which the expats use), and Baidu (which the locals use). If possible I would like to avoid having one domain on the outside, and the other on the inside since not all expats use a VPN, and some Chinese speakers also use VPNs. Also some of our legitimate customers in both languages are from outside of China. I also don't want to resort to using something like www2.xxx.com/cn for the outside connection if at all possible, since I have worries about duplicate content and canonical URLs ruining our SEO (unless you know of a quick fix for that). CDNs I'm considering are: Google PageSpeed, CloudFlare, Amazon CloudFront. None of which have datacenters inside China. I have complete control of the .com DNS zone records, but the .cn zones are under the control of the domain issuing body in China. I'm not sure at this time if they would allow even a CNAME to point to an IP outside of China (although I don't see why not). They no longer allow outside registrars like they used to.

I know there are many ways to build failover cluster, but I can’t find out more, so I need next: The ways to build it? I know only virtualization. Any good book or resource to broad my mind? (Without virtualization) Do I need additional server to control "heartbeat" between main and redundant servers? (Virtualization) For example I have several physical servers with VMs. Do I need additional server to control availability of VMs and to move VMs to another physical server in the case their physical server failure?   • Installing Catalyst 11.6 for an ATI HD 6970

    Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 is displaying the desktop okay (though limited to 1600x1200) after my having installed my new HD 6970 card, so I'm now trying to install the proprietary driver (I understand the open source one requires a more recent kernel than that in Maverick). The proprietary driver under 'Additional Drivers' resulted in a black screen on boot, so I deactivated and am trying to follow the manual install instructions at the cchtml Ubuntu Maverick Installation Guide. I've tried running the command with and without sudo. I'm not experienced with installing from downloads/source, but it seems like the file debian/source isn't being set to be executable when it needs to be. If I extract only, without using the package builder command, debian/rules is 744. As to what to do next, I'm stumped. Many thanks.

  • Querying Visual Studio project files using T-SQL and Powershell

    Earlier today I had a need to get some information out of a Visual Studio project file and in this blog post I’m going to share a couple of ways of going about that because I’m pretty sure I won’t be the only person that ever wants to do this. The specific problem I was trying to solve was finding out how many objects in my database project (i.e. in my .dbproj file) had any warnings suppressed but the techniques discussed below will work pretty well for any Visual Studio project file because every such file is simply an XML document, hence it can be queried by anything that can query XML documents. Ever heard the phrase “when all you’ve got is hammer everything looks like a nail”? Well that’s me with querying stuff – if I can write SQL then I’m writing SQL. Here’s a little noddy database project I put together for demo purposes: Two views and a stored procedure, nothing fancy. I suppressed warnings for [View1] & [Procedure1] and hence the pertinent part my project file looks like this:   <ItemGroup>    <Build Include="Schema Objects\Schemas\dbo\Views\View1.view.sql">      <SubType>Code</SubType>      <SuppressWarnings>4151,3276</SuppressWarnings>    </Build>    <Build Include="Schema Objects\Schemas\dbo\Views\View2.view.sql">      <SubType>Code</SubType>    </Build>    <Build Include="Schema Objects\Schemas\dbo\Programmability\Stored Procedures\Procedure1.proc.sql">      <SubType>Code</SubType>      <SuppressWarnings>4151</SuppressWarnings>    </Build>  </ItemGroup>  <ItemGroup> Note the <SuppressWarnings> elements – those are the bits of information that I am after. With a lot of help from folks on the SQL Server XML forum  I came up with the following query that nailed what I was after. AS [_node]        ,       build.value('ns:SuppressWarnings[1]','nvarchar(100)') AS [SuppressedWarnings]        ,       build.value('@Include','nvarchar(1000)') AS [ObjectPath]        FROM    @xml.nodes('//ns:Build[ns:SuppressWarnings]') AS R(build)        )q And here’s the output: And that’s it – an easy way of discovering which warnings have been suppressed and for which objects in your database projects. I won’t bother going over the code as it is fairly self-explanatory – peruse it at your leisure.   Once I had the SQL above I figured I’d share it around a little in case it was ever useful to anyone else; hence I’m writing this blog post and I also posted it on the Visual Studio Database Development Tools forum at FYI: Discover which objects have had warnings suppressed. Luckily Kevin Goode saw the thread and he posted a different solution to the same problem, one that uses Powershell. The advantage of Kevin’s Powershell approach is that it is easy to analyse many .dbproj files at the same time.   • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service. The error occurs in the main class library project. Here is the error message: Error 1 The "ResolveAssemblyReference" task failed unexpectedly.     G'day, I've read both of Steve McConnell's excellent Code Complete books "Code Complete" and "Code Complete 2" and was wondering if people have any other suggestions for commenting code. My commenting mantra could be summed up by the basic idea of expressing "what the code below cannot say". While enjoying this interesting blog post by Jeff about commenting I was still left wondering "When coding, when do you feel a comment is required?" Edit: Oops. Seems to be a duplicate of this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/121945/how-do-you-like-your-comments so sorry for the noise. Thanks to my, seemingly, SO shadow for pointing it out - wouldn't have thought I was that interesting. Now off to read the original post and see if it is relevant. Edit: I meant to emphasise the best appraoch to ensure that your comments will stay in step with the code. Maybe expressing an intent rather than the mechansim for instance.

    Hi all, In SharePoint 2010, This is rare error, I got when I deploy and activate Feature using VS2010. Deployment works file  but in activation process it get stuct and throws error. Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': The field with Id {GUID} defined in feature {GUID} was found in the current site collection or in a subsite. When I googled I found very good solution  from Sandeep Snahta Blog. http://snahta.blogspot.hk/2011/10/error-in-activate-features-from-visual.html As suggested in this blog, there is two option to overcome this error; Close VS2010 and restart again.   • Does CodeIgniter have to load view in the final step?

But apparently it is done before rendering the view. My question is, does $this->load->view(); have to be the final step in a function? I did a little research, and seems like my question is similar to this topic. Correct?

Running sudo apt-build build-source lirc then gave me Some error occured building package which is not really informative. I have successfully built patched lirc from source but now I would like to get a deb package. Where can I look for this 'some errors' in detail? Thank you, Alexei

  • How to install Multiple ActiveX Controls per one step?

    My .ocx contains two ActiveX controls and I use both of them on one page. When user comes to page he gets two install confirmations for the same binary. After the first installation and page reload he gets one control displayed and “the website wants to run the following add-on...” yellow bar with control’s run confirmation for the other. I have only two possible solutions: Adding my CLSID’s to IE’s pre-approved control list, but I guess I cannot do it in the case of Non-Admin installation. Besides I consider this way as unreliable. Use the third control-container for hosting all other controls. It seems to my too complicated. Actually I’m not sure it can be done. Controls are used from the WEB, so I cannot use any administrative tools for installation. Is it possible to do all installation actions with one step without twice installation or run confirmation? Are there any “Best practices” for my case?

  • How do I configure NetBeans to only step through Java code that I've written.

    Am I missing something? I'm delighted that all that code is there showing how the generic collections work etc. However when I want to simply walk my code I'm forever finding myself going deeper into Java's own library code than I care to. Is it possible to simply disable that when stepping code - I want to treat all of that stuff as a Black Box, code stepping is just for stuff I've written. And you know what, now I've got that capability, is it possible to wrap up my own code that way too so that I can step just the bits I'm most interested in? And if i can't easily in netbeans, is it possible in eclipse? thanks
