I have in my model:
def presenter
@presenter ||= ProfilePresenter.new(self)
@presenter
end
The ProfilePresenter is a class that has methods like, get_link(), get_img_url(size), get_sex(), get_relationship_status() and other methods that have not to do with the model, not even with the controller but is used multiple times in the view.
So now i use them by doing this:
Profile.presenter.get_link
# or
Profile.presenter.get_img_url('thumb') # returns the path of the image. is not used to make a db query

I want my video to show a specified image while embedding it on html
basically I'm doing the following:
<embed src="video.m4v" width="520" height="456" autoplay="false" controller="true" type="video/quicktime" scale="tofit" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" bgcolor="black"> </embed>
Is there a specific parameter that I can add that says when the video shall start?
I have a simple blogging functionality in my Rails 3 app. I am trying to add commenting to each post. The BlogComment model has a property, blog_post_id, to be able to find the corresponding comments for each post. I already setup my associations in the model, I also nested BlogComments under BlogPost in the routes file.
However, I can't figure out how to give each BlogPost access to its respective comments through the controller so that they can be shown later in the view.
I have an iPhone application and I am porting it over to Android.
I have a service/controller that spawns new threads to perform some network tasks.
I use performSelectorOnMainThread in my iPhone app. How can I have my Java app do the same or similar thing?
What's the purpose of having the Simulated User Interface elements, i.e. the top and bottom toolbars? Is this to allow you to design with the space accounted for but the actual toolbars would be provided by the Navigation Controller?
If I have a textbox in my view:
<div><%= Html.TextBox("Comments", Model.Comments)%></div>
I want to post the contents of this textbox to the controller with an Ajax call. I only need this one value though, so I don't want to post the whole form back.
<%= Ajax.ActionLink("update", "UpdateComments",
new { comments = /* ????? */ },
new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod="POST" })%>
How do I get the textbox value?
How do you generate an input's id attribute, given a model? For example, if I have a model of Person with a first_name attribute, the form helper prints out a textbox with this html:
<input type="text" id="person_first_name" />
How can I generate that person_first_name from some other place in the code (like in a controller or some place)?
I have an app with a tab bar, and nav controllers in each tab. When user shakes the device, a UIImageView appears as a child view in the nav controller. But the UIImageView must contain a special image, depending on the device's current orientation.
If I write just
- (void)willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)
if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait|| interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) {
//Code
}
else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight||interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) {
//Code
}
}
The view just goes crazy if user rotated the device before shaking. Is there a method to get iPhones current orientation?
Hi All,
I am calling a controller method to convert a video file. This process
is called using background_fu job. When the function tries to create a
new folder in rails root it gives error i.e. Permission denied. The
function performs well if not called in background job process.
Can any one point out what can be the trouble.
Thanks in advance,
Anubhaw
I'd like to write a simple decorator that I can put above functions in my controller to check authentication and re-direct to the login page if the current user is not authenticated. What is the best way to do this? Where should the decorator go? How should I pass cookie info to the decorator? Sample code is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I am having trouble displaying a webview. I have a webview inside a custom view. I load this custom view as a subview of the window, and then have an object controller linking a text field to the content of the web view. Once a page is loaded, it loads all the content, but it is visually white. You can click on links. If you go to a Youtube video you can listen to it, but it still displays nothing.
I have a few ActionLinks that when rendered are getting a length key/value added that appears to indicate the number of characters of the controller name. How can this be removed?
Is it possible to render different actions based on what fails at validation?
For example - I have one field in the form - email addres. It is validated like this:
validates :email,
:presence => true,
:uniqueness => { :case_sensitive => false }
In the controller:
def create
@user = User.new(params[:user])
if @user.save
redirect_to somewhere
else
# render :new if email is blank
# redirect_to somwhere if email is taken
end
end
I have quite a few libraries and models that get loaded into a controller, and each library/model creates an instance of CI using $this->CI =& get_instance(); in the __construct function.
Are there any performance issues with this and is there a better way?
I'm thinking whether it makes sense in order to increase the speed of the website to do some strategy of caching the js files that are being included ?
one idea that I have is to do something like this:
[OutputCache(Location = OutputCacheLocation.Any, Duration = 3600)]
public JsController : Controller
public ActionResult JQuery()
{
//I would have a ascx with the entire jquery script inside
return View();
}
and on the site.master:
<%=Html.RenderAction("JQuery","JsController");
Using Git or Mercurial, how would you know when you do a clone or a pull, no one is checking in files (pushing it)? It can be important that:
1) You never know it is in an inconsistent state, so you try for 2 hours trying to debug the code for what's wrong.
2) With all the framework code -- potentially hundreds of files -- if some files are inconsistent with the other, can't the rake db:migrate or script/generate controller cause some damage or inconsistencies to the code base?
I generally like the View Persistor in the Three20 URLNavigation, however, I would like to exclude a few Controllers so they can't be the the first controller to show when the app loads. how can i do that?
So I am a total cakephp newb and one of the first things I expected to see basic info about each page request logged. More specifically, what route data including what controller/method is being used. Obviously I did not find what I was expecting and about the only kind of meaning info I can find is from the apache logs. What I expected was to see something similar to first log entry for a rails app request.
Does cakephp not log this kind of data?
Hello,
my application (ASP.NET MVC) shows a page which loads data constantly, at certain intervals.
The jQuery script calls a controller and this one renders a different partial view, based on certain conditions.
This partial view is the appended to the DOM with jQuery; previous elements are removed with the empty() method.
I've realized that after one day the browser loads something like 600Mb of memory.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Alberto
I have a root view controller with no nib file,
I tried adding this at cellForRowAtIndexPath as that passes in a UITableView as tableView.
So I put :
tableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped];
It ran with no error but it didnt seem to change anything.
Hi,
The standard extension for template files in Zend Framework is .phtml... I need to change them to .js in one specific module... can anyone help... I'd ideally like to change this a Controller level...
Many thanks...
Hi, This is a simple question:
I have 2 different view controllers, and each one has its own data stored in its .m file.
I want to take a value, for instance, an integer value (int i=3;) that is declared in ViewController1 and pass it to ViewController2, so I will be able to use that value in the second view controller.
Can anyone please tell me how to do it?
Thanks in advance,
