• sql connection problem only from another computer

  I have a task that runs nightly. It connects to a sql server on our network and when I run it from my machine it runs fine. When it runs from the other computer I get the following error. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I've checked with our systems admin and he said nothing has changed on the sql box or on the box in question so I'm not sure why it runs fine from one and not the other. From what I've read about this error it sounds like it's a setting on the sql server that would disallow it to run on either box.

• Best way of invoking getter by reflection

  Hello, I need to get the value of a field with a specific annotation, So with reflection I am able to get this Field Object. The problem is that this field will be always private though I know in advance it will always have a getter method. I know that I can use setAccesible(true) and get its value (when there is no PermissionManager), though I prefer to invoke its getter method. I know that I could look for the method by looking for "get+fieldName" (though I know for example for boolean fields are sometimes named as "is+fieldName"). I wonder if there is a better way to invoke this getter (many frameworks use getters/setters to access the attributes so maybe they do in another way). Thanks

• Undefined reference to "func" when compiled with GCC

  I implement a link list in two files in linklist.h and linklist.c, and I call some functions defined in linklist.h in main function of main.c. linklist.h is included in both linklist.c and main.c. When I compile this program by GCC with Makefile, the error named "undefined reference to xxx" occurs. I think my Makefile is written correctly as below. • JSF managed bean question

  Hello, I have one page which uses <ui:insert> called master.xhtml which uses one managedbean named MasterBean.java and its of viewScoped. It calls webservice and has all useful data which will be useful in master.xhtml as well as page which is built using master.xhtml (which uses <ui:include>). When i visit data.xhtml (which uses template as master.xhtml) and which uses managed bean as DataBean.java which is also of view scoped, how do i use MasterBean? If i directly use #{Masterbean.property}, won't it create a new instance again? or will it use the bean which is already in view scope? Also how do i use MasterBean in DataBean in such a way that existing MasterBean's instance is used in DataBean. I don't want new instance of MasterBean in DataBean. Thanks in advance. If i am not clear please let me know.

• Jython project in Eclipse can't find the xml module, but works in an identical project

  I have two projects in Eclipse with Java and Python code, using Jython. Also I'm using PyDev. One project can import and use the xml module just fine, and the other gives the error ImportError: No module named xml. As far as I can tell, all the project properties are set identically. The working project was created from scratch and the other comes from code checked out of an svn repository and put into a new project. What could be the difference? edit- Same for os, btw. It's just missing some path somewhere...

• Drupal 6: moving localhost to server | clear cached data

  Hi friends, I worked on localhost to build my drupal site. then, I moved to server. Steps: Clear cache tables (Site Configuration Performance Clear Cached Data button) on localhost Export db and then import on live server Move files/folders to live server Edit settings.php to reflect live server config everything is working great until I make Clear Cached Data on Server. than my custom theme, custom front page, etc... all mess up :( What can be the problem? I appreciate helps so much!! Thanks! !!SORTED!! I used a subtheme for Zen, named mgf . then I had taken a back-up as mgf- somehow after I make Clear Cached Data, Drupal links to this mgf- which is old and doesnt have latest stylings. I just removed this folder from themes, and it linked to the right-latest mgf.

• Best way to create a Unique ID field for an enum

  What is the best way to get a Unique ID from an ENUM that will stay consistent between repeated execution of the program? Currently I am doing this manually by passing an ID to the enum constructor. I don't really want to do this is I can help it. Another option would be to use a static field that gets incremented for each enum value. The problem is that if later I decide to move the enum fields around or delete some this will cause problems with my program as the ID will be saved into user preferences. The ID can be any basic type or a String.

  I'm often confused by this. I've always been taught to name numbers I use often using variables or constants, but if it reduces the efficiency of the program, should I still do it? Heres an example: private int CenterText(Font font, PrintPageEventArgs e, string text) { int recieptCenter = 125; int stringLength = Convert.ToInt32(e.Graphics.MeasureString(text, font)); return recieptCenter - stringLength / 2; } The above code is using named variables, but runs slower then this code: private int CenterText(Font font, PrintPageEventArgs e, string text) { return 125 - Convert.ToInt32(e.Graphics.MeasureString(text, font) / 2); } In this example, the difference in execution time is minimal, but what about in larger blocks of code?

  I have a List called myData and I want to apply a particular method (someFunction) to every element in the List. Is calling a method through an object's constructor slower than calling the same method many times for one particular object instantiation? In other words, is this: for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) myClass someObject = new myClass(myData[i]); slower than this: myClass someObject = new myClass(); for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) someObject.someFunction(myData[i]); ? If so, how much slower?

• C++ Static Array Initialization - Memory Issue

  Hi, I have a header file which contains a member variable declaration of a static char array: class ABC { public: static char newArray[4]; // other variables / functions private: void setArray(int i, char * ptr); } In the CPP file, I have the array initialized to NULL: char ABC::newArray[4] = {0}; In the ABC constructor, I need to overwrite this value with a value constructed at runtime, such as the encoding of an integer: ABC::ABC() { int i; //some int value defined at runtime memset(newArray, 0, 4); // not sure if this is necessary setArray(i,newArray); } ... void setArray(int i, char * value) { // encoding i to set value[0] ... value [3] } When I return from this function, and print the modified newArray value, it prints out many more characters than the 4 specified in the array declaration. Any ideas why this is the case. I just want to set the char array to 4 characters and nothing further. Thanks...

  I have the following XML: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 While this XSL does what is expected (output the attr of the first picture): It seems to be not possible to do the same inside the variable declaration using xsl:copy-of: Curious: If I just select "$FirstPicture" instead of "$FirstPicture/@attr" in the second example, it outputs the text node of Picture 1 as expected... Before you all suggest me to rewrite the code: This is just a simplified test, my real aim is to use a named template to select a node into the variable FirstPicture and reuse it for further selections. I hope someone could help me to understand the behavior or could suggest me a proper way to select a node with code which could be easily reused (the decission which node is the first one is complex in my real application). • ActiveRecord find all parents that have associated children

  I don't know why I can't figure this out, I think it should be fairly simple. I have two models (see below). I'm trying to come up with a named scope for SupplierCategory that would find all SupplierCategory(s) (including :suppliers) who's associated Supplier(s) are not empty. I tried a straight up join, named_scope :with_suppliers, :joins => :suppliers which gives me only categories with suppliers, but it gives me each category listed separately, so if a category has 2 suppliers, i get the category twice in the returned array: Currently I'm using: named_scope :with_suppliers, :include => :suppliers and then in my view I'm using: <%= render :partial => 'category', :collection => @categories.find_all{|c| !c.suppliers.empty? } %> Not exactly eloquent but illustrates what I'm trying to achieve. When there's wrong data, for every thing, some IllegalArgumentException with different message is thrown. So I would like to write tests for it, but how can i recognize what error was thrown? • StructureMap DI on Model Assembly

  I’m new to Dependency Injection and had a question/need guidance. I had an application that used the repository pattern for data access. I used StructureMap to get the correct repository and all worked well. I have since broken out my model (including the repository logic) into its own assembly and added a service layer. In the interest of DI the service layer class takes an IRepository in its constructor. This seems wrong to me as now all consumers of my model need to know about the repository (at least configure their DI to know which one to use). I feel like that is getting into the guts of the model. What sounds wrong with this?

I'm using cygwin and when this line is commented out the printf's ABOVE this print to console but when include this, nothing happens. I did the following to get cygserver going- CYGWIN=server ran /bin/cygserver-config ran /usr/sbin/cygserver for the config it said the cygserver is already running And for the sygserver it saids- initailaizing complete failed to created named pipe: is the daemon already running? fatal error on IPC transport: closing down Any ideas?

I need the syntax that selects records created within the last hour. thought it would be: and DATEDIFF("hh", datePart(hh, myTime), DatePart(hh, GETDATE()) < 1 where datediff 1) looks for hours; 2) looks at the hours portion of the data in myTime as starting; 3) looks at the hours portion of now for ending 3) produces an int that gets compared to '1' the results i'm getting are clearly way, way off base cuz umm...clearly...i don't know what i'm doing. help? thx

  The standard says A variable is introduced by the declaration of an object. The variable's name denotes the object. But what does this definition actually mean? Does a variable give a name to an object, i.e. are variables just a naming mechanism for otherwise anonymous objects? Or is a variable the name itself? Or is a variable a named object in the sense that every variable is also an object? Or is a variable just a "proxy" with a name that "delegates" all operations to the real object? To confuse things further, many C++ books seem to treat variables and objects as synonyms. What is your take on this?

  I'm writing a Generic class as following. public class Foo<T> : where T : Bar, new() { public void MethodInFoo() { T _t = new T(); } } As you can see the object(_t) of type T is instantiated at run-time. To support instantiation of generic type T, language forces me to put new() in the class signature. I'd agree to this if Bar is an abstract class but why does it need to be so if Bar standard non-abstract class with public parameter-less constructor. compiler prompts following message if new() is not found. Cannot create an instance of the variable type 'T' because it does not have the new() constraint

• Unable to use JAR in Eclipse

  Hi guys, I have just created my first JAR in Eclipse, just a simple program with a single class Database.class. It is not in a package. public class Database { public Database() { int dbInit = 1; } } I have added it as an external JAR to the build path libraries for another project in Eclipse, but for some reason I cannot get Database db = new Database(), the default constructor, to work - it's as if the contents of the JAR are not being recognised. • How do they read clusters/cylinders/sectors from the disk?

  Hello, I needed to recover the partition table I deleted accidentally. I used an application named TestDisk. Its simply mind blowing. I reads each cylinder from the disk. I've seen similar such applications which work with MBR & partitioning. I'm curious. How do they read clusters/cylinders/sectors from the disk? Is it again OS dependent? If so whats the way to for Linux & for windows?
