    Hi, I wrote multiple scripts in perl & shell and I had compared the real execution time. In all the cases - Perl script is more than 10 times faster than shell script. So i wondered if it possible to write a Shell script which is faster to the same script in perl? and why perl faster than shell although I use the 'system' function in perl script.     Hey, I was looking at the Google Map API for the first time and I had a quick question. I am woking on an Android application and I was wondering if there is a good way to take a route that I have created using Google Maps (snapping to roads) and use the API display this route on an Android application? I see that there is a way to generate images overlayed with polylines created with coordinates but it seems like it would be tought to create a polyline for something like a curved road. Thanks, Rob

The Notepad sample program on Google's website refers to <script src="closure-library/base.js" > </script > Can you simply download closure-library/base.js somewhere and start playing with the UI examples? The Closure Lite quick-start version doesn't appear to include goog.ui

I originally thought I could use Google App Engine to provide the payloads to Apple, but I see now that it won't be possible because App Engine doesn't support the low-level socket programming that is needed to communicate with Apple. To do this, it appears that I need to use a custom KML/KMZ file that contains the county mapping data (which I've located). Could anyone provide me with a sample of how I can display an intensity map based on a KMZ file? I know how to display Google Visualization intensity maps in general. I just can't find any examples that use a custom KMZ file.

  • Is it possible to run locally JRuby on Google App Engine without restarting server on every change?

    Unfortunately, GAE requires restart of the server on each code change. Is it possible to prevent it and have immediate feedback after code save? Or, can I import Google App Engine's API into my ruby code and run it on Sinatra server? Tried this but it fails on "import com.google.appengine.api" (it doesn't know what 'com' is). For Sinatra, I use "Rerun" ( http://github.com/alexch/rerun ) which restarts server immediately after a change with minimum wait. Thanks.

    So I'm trying to use the django 1.1 template engine with the google app engine web app framework, from here. This is on Ubuntu Jaunty, I've made sure that the PYTHONPATH contains the location of Django-1.1.1 yet I'm getting this 'ImportError: No module named django' error when it tries to execute the use_library() line below.     Say I have this piece of code: var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: location, title: 'B&#250;fals', map: map }); This creates a marker as expected but if I hover the mouse over it I don’t see 'Búfals' as I would expect (instead I see the html code). This doesn't make any difference: var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: location, title: unescape('B&#250;fals'), map: map }); Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Google search ajax api is to restrictive. Any alternatives?

    The google search ajax api is terrific, and the .net wrapper available on codeplex makes using it from a .net project very simple. However, the api itself is crippled so that it only returns 64 results per query. Not very useful for many applications. Ignoring the likely TOS problems, are there known .net libraries that can query the root google website and scrape the results into a resultset? I'm assuming this could result in much larger result counts than the ajax version enabled.

    Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm at a loss. I'm trying to simply load a plain text file into a page at runtime using jquery- everything works fine in IE8 (8.0.7600.16385), Firefox 3.6.3, however in Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 the "data" comes back as nothing- i get an empty alert box.
