  • Compiling/executing Java on Sublime Text 2 works fine except that it cannot read user input

    I am a student learning Java and I want to compile and run some simple Java on ST2. Also Eclipse is very slow on my laptop. Here is my JavaC.sublime-build file so far: { "cmd": ["sublimejavaexec.bat", "$file"], "file_regex": "^(...*?):([0-9]*):?([0-9]*)", "selector": "source.java" } So far it can run code that does not require user input. However when I have something that uses the Java input scanner it either skips through or generates an error. Can anyone suggest a solution such as a plug-in or if ST2 actually has this kind of feature on its console? Thanks.

I am working on customizing how my results appear in Google as best as possible. I have learned about the meta tags to customize the text summary. However, I have some hierarchical parts to my website. When a result appears related to the "tip-of-the-iceberg", I would like to show links related to the "child" pages. For instance, if you Google "Walmart" you will see the following links listed with the result: Electronics TV & Video Departments Furniture Toys Girls Living Room Computers Is there any way that I can help Google determine which links to show and the text to display for these child links on my site?   • Textwrangler (OS X) -- Simple Text Macro Help Needed

    I often, when parsing log/error files, need to replace < and < and > with in order to be able to efficiently understand what's going on in the files. I know TextWrangler has a macro ability but I can't figure out a efficient way to do this. Since I have to do it so often I'd love to just have a simple keybinding or menu item to do this simple replace/find all for me. Anyone know how to do this? ^_^

    I am using a simple text editor from YUI, but when I click submit the code in the textarea/editor is not sent to the next page. I want to be able to receive it on the subsequent page and then store it in a DB(MySql). I have wasted lot of time already. Please help.     hi everyone Is it possible to save text of textarea (flash 10, as3, cs5) in some variable or so and with its textformat (more than one color) and then reuse it to replace text in textarea? I tried saving htmlText of textarea but the problem is when i replace it in textarea tags causes problem. There will always be another extra line. If anyone wants to view p tags problem try following. I simply try to render a js.erb template to an Ajax request for the following action (in publications_controller.rb): def get_pubmed_data entry = Bio::PubMed.query(params[:pmid])# searches PubMed and get entry @publication = Bio::MEDLINE.new(entry) # creates Bio::MEDLINE object from entry text flash[:warning] = "No publication found."if @publication.title.blank? and @publication.authors.blank? and @publication.journal.blank? respond_to do |format| format.js end end Currently, my get_pubmed_data.js.erb template is simply alert('<%= @publication.title %>') The server is responding with the following alert('Evidence for a herpes simplex virus-specific factor controlling the transcription of deoxypyrimidine kinase.') which is perfectly fine except that nothing happen in the browser, probably because the content-type of the response is 'text/html' instead of 'text/javascript' as shown by the response header partially reproduced here: Status 200 Keep-Alive timeout=5, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding chunked Content-Type text/html; charset=utf-8 Is this a bug or am I missing something?   • Resharper 5: How do I set the default formatting style for inline code blocks?

    I've got a problem with the formatting of inline code blocks within the VS2010 text editor and wonder if anyone else has had similar problems and found the 'magic' setting I'm looking for. I'm working my way through tutorials in an MVC book. Whenever I add some inline code blocks to a view I want them formatted like so: <% foreach (var link in Model) { %> <a href="<%=Url.RouteUrl(link.RouteValues)%>"> <%=link.Text%> </a> <% } %> What I'm actually getting is this (auto-formatted by the IDE when I finish writing the code): <% foreach (var link in Model) { %> <a href="<%=Url.RouteUrl(link.RouteValues)%>"> <%=link.Text%> </a> <% } %> It's pretty irritating. Any ideas on how I can instruct the IDE to leave my <% % tags alone? I've been fiddling with options under "Tools - Options - Text Editor" for ages but alas am getting nowhere... Edit: I've just noticed that this is down to Resharper 5 (when I disable it the problem disappears), however I still don't know how to stop it. Any ideas?

    I generally work on my projects locally in Sublime Text but sometimes need to share them with others using things like Jsfiddle, codepen, or plunker. This is usually so I can get unstuck. Is there an easier way to share code that doesn't involve purely copy pasting and the hassle of getting all the dependencies right in a new environment? It's taking me hours to get some of my angular apps working in plunker and I'm wondering if there's a better way.

  • HTML5 Input type=date Formatting Issues

    One of the nice features in HTML5 is the abililty to specify a specific input type for HTML text input boxes. There a host of very useful input types available including email, number, date, datetime, month, number, range, search, tel, time, url and week. For a more complete list you can check out the MDN reference. Date input types also support automatic validation which can be useful in some scenarios but maybe can get in the way at other times. One of the more common input types, and one that can most benefit of a custom UI for selection is of course date input. Almost every application could use a decent date representation and HTML5's date input type seems to push into the right direction. It'd be nice if you could just say:<form action="DateTest.html"> <label for="FromDate">Enter a Date:</label> <input type="date" id="FromDate" name="FromDate" value="11/08/2012" class="date" /> <hr /> <input type="submit" id="btnSubmit" name="btnSubmit" value="Save Date" class="smallbutton" /> </form> but if you'd expect to just work, you're likely to be pretty disappointed. Problem #1: Browser Support For starters there's browser support. Out of the major browsers only the latest versions of WebKit and Opera based browsers seem to support date input. Neither FireFox, nor any version of Internet Explorer (including the new touch enabled IE10 in Windows RT) support input type=date. Browser support is an issue, but it would be OK if it wasn't for problem #2. Problem #2: Date Formatting If you look at my date input from before:<input type="date" id="FromDate" name="FromDate" value="11/08/2012" class="date" /> You can see that my date is formatted in local date format (ie. en-us). Now when I run this sadly the form that comes up in Chrome (and also iOS mobile browsers) comes up like this: Chrome isn't recognizing my local date string. Instead it's expecting my date format to be provided in ISO 8601 format which is: 2012-11-08 So if I change the date input field to:<input type="date" id="FromDate" name="FromDate" value="2012-10-08" class="date" /> I correctly get the date field filled in: Also when I pick a date with the DatePicker the date value is also returned is also set to the ISO date format. Yet notice how the date is still formatted to the local date time format (ie. en-US format). So if I pick a new date: and then save, the value field is set back to: 2012-11-15 using the ISO format. The same is true for Opera and iOS browsers and I suspect any other WebKit style browser and their date pickers. So to summarize input type=date: Expects ISO 8601 format dates to display intial values Sets selected date values to ISO 8601 Now what? This would sort of make sense, if all browsers supported input type=date. It'd be easy because you could just format dates appropriately when you set the date value into the control by applying the appropriate culture formatting (ie. .ToString("yyyy-MM-dd") ). .NET is actually smart enough to pick up the date on the other end for modelbinding when ISO 8601 is used. For other environments this might be a bit more tricky. input type=date is clearly the way to go forward. Date controls implemented in HTML are going the way of the dodo, given the intricacies of mobile platforms and scaling for both desktop and mobile. I've been using jQuery UI Datepicker for ages but once going to mobile, that's no longer an option as the control doesn't scale down well for mobile apps (at least not without major re-styling). It also makes a lot of sense for the browser to provide this functionality - creating a consistent date input experience across apps only makes sense, which is why I find it baffling that neither FireFox nor IE 10 deign it necessary to support date input natively. The problem is that a large number of even the latest and greatest browsers don't support this. So now you're stuck with not knowing what date format you have to serve since neither the local format, nor the ISO format works in all cases. For my current app I just broke down and used the ISO format and so I'll live with the non-local date format. <input type="date" id="ToDate" name="ToDate" value="2012-11-08" class="date"/> Here's what this looks like on Chrome: Here's what it looks like on my iPhone: Both Chrome and the phone do this the way it should be. For the phone especially this demonstrates why we'd want this - the built-in date picker there certainly beats manually trying to edit the date using finger gymnastics, and it's one of the easiest ways to pick a date I can think of (ie. easier to use than your typical date picker). Finally here's what the date looks like in FireFox: Certainly this is not the ideal date format, but it's clear enough I suppose. If users enter a date in local US format and that works as well (but won't work for other locales). It'll have to do. Over time one can only hope that other browsers will finally decide to implement this functionality natively to provide a unique experience. Until then, incomplete solutions it is.   • Python SQLite FTS3 alternatives?

    Are there any good alternatives to SQLite + FTS3 for python? I'm iterating over a series of text documents, and would like to categorize them according to some text queries. For example, I might want to know if a document mentions the words "rating" or "upgraded" within three words of "buy." The FTS3 syntax for this query is the following: (rating OR upgraded) NEAR/3 buy That's all well and good, but if I use FTS3, this operation seems rather expensive. The process goes something like this: # create an SQLite3 db in memory conn = sqlite3.connect(':memory:') c = conn.cursor() c.execute('CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE fts USING FTS3(content TEXT)') conn.commit() Then, for each document, do something like this: #insert the document text into the fts table, so I can run a query c.execute('insert into fts(content) values (?)', content) conn.commit() # execute my FTS query here, look at the results, etc # remove the document text from the fts table before working on the next document c.execute('delete from fts') conn.commit() This seems rather expensive to me. The other problem I have with SQLite FTS is that it doesn't appear to work with Python 2.5.4. The 'CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE' syntax is unrecognized. This means that I'd have to upgrade to Python 2.6, which means re-testing numerous existing scripts and programs to make sure they work under 2.6. Is there a better way? Perhaps a different library? Something faster? Thank you.

    Hello, I would to use JavaScript to clean up text that’s being copied from my site. I use snippets like this: body { vertical-align: middle; ? } Where ? indicates comment later on. I want readers to copy this snippet and use it – so I need to delete that Unicode marker. How can I access text that’s being copied and make changes to it? I considered deleting marker(s) from snippet when user clicks (mousedown) on it, so she could select the text, copy it and then I would restore markers but it seems a really long way to do it.

    Do search engines treat the alt text of an image placed within an h1 tag the same way they would treat regular text placed in an h1 tag? I gave a search through here looking for an answer to this question, but was only able to find information on image replacement and the infamous h1 debate. For example would: <h1><img src="#" alt="Contact Us" /></h1> Act the same as: <h1>Contact Us</h1> In the electronic eye of a search engine? This seems considerably less "CSS Hacky" than other image replacement techniques like negative text indents, display:none, height:0, or ridiculous z-index integers.

  • jquery ui is not scaling text properly!

    I'm trying use jquery ui to scale a div that I'm dragging around to make it easier to see what's behind it, but any text inside it is scaling strangely. The text itself becomes smaller, but it seems to have a bunch of padding around it and is floating now. The text extends past the bottom of the div even though it should be contained properly by the div. I put a red border around the lines of text and the borders are the same size as the original text. I'm not really sure what to do to get this to work...   • winusb formatting and installation error, lost data storage on 32gb flash drive

    i recently purchased a pny brand 32gb usb drive to use for configuring a dual boot on my computer, and for hdd files backup. i also recently installed zorin os 6.1 as my main os, and then downloaded winusb for linux, and set it to install the iso for windows 8 release preview as the activation code is still good untill jan.2013, and there was an error on the installation. i rebooted the computer, plugged in the usb drive, and i went from 32gb usable space to somehow having a partitioned drive (mounted as two separate drives) one being 3.7gb, and the other being i believe 25gb or so... i then formatted the drive with gparted back to fat32, and it still read as a windows usb with the installation files on it still? so then i took my usb drive to my library which runs windows 8, i installed bootice, and completely reformatted my usb drive, and somehow it is usable, but still not perfect. it reads i only have 29.9gb usable space... i have already thought of the non usable area, and that doesnt account for this error as when i first bought the drive and plugged it in on linux, it read total drive space was 32.2 and exactly 32 was usable. somehow i am short by 2gb of space which is very critical for what i am doing. i love linux, i only needed windows for bluray playback with daplayer as it wont work well in wine, but if i keep losing space on my usb drives im afraid ill have to switch back. any help would be appreciated as i already visited pny's site, and they have no support for this issue, and im not that fond of partitions, file systems, or formatting.

  • Formatting: Group Multiline Alignment - Added

    One week ago I have added two new properties for formating PHP code into NetBeans 7.1. In Alignment category there are new properties for Group Multiline Alignment - Assignment and Array Initializer.  The Assignment property influence position of the char '=' in a group of lines with assignments.  Let see the pictures below.  On the left site -  Assignment property is off and on the right site the property is on. As you can see, when the property is set on, then the assignment char '=' is placed after the longest identifier in a group. The group is defined as a number of lines that contains the same type of assignments. End of a group can be empty line, line where is only a comment, different expression, end of a block. This formatting options works for variable assignment, field initialization and constants.  The second new property is for Array Initializer.   Both properties are switched off by default. If you will play with it, please file any problem into our Bugzilla.

    Some .conf files have a lot of comments and parameters in them like so: # WINS Server - Tells the NMBD components of Samba to be a WINS Client # Note: Samba can be either a WINS Server, or a WINS Client, but NOT both ; wins server = w.x.y.z # This will prevent nmbd to search for NetBIOS names through DNS. dns proxy = no ..... It gets difficult to look for only the parameters among the plethora of comments, so, is there some text editor that can highlight the comments in dark grey so that the real parameters stand out?

  • Sending formatted Lotus Notes rich text email from Excel VBA

    I have little Lotus Script or Notes/Domino knowledge but I have a procedure, copied from somewhere a long time ago, that allows me to email through Notes from VBA. I normally only use this for internal notifications where the formatting hasn't really mattered. I now want to use this to send external emails to a client, and corporate types would rather the email complied with our style guide (a sans-serif typeface basically). I was about to tell them that the code only works with plain text, but then I noticed that the routine does reference some sort of CREATERICHTEXTITEM object. Does this mean I could apply some sort of formatting to the body text string after it has been passed to the mail routine? As well as upholding our precious brand values, this would be quite handy to me for highlighting certain passages in the email. I've had a dig about the 'net to see if this code could be adapted, but being unfamiliar with Notes' object model, and the fact that online Notes resources seem to mirror the application's own obtuseness, meant I didn't get very far.   • HTML text input and using the input as a variable in a script(tcl)/sql(sqlite)

    Hello all, I'm very VERY new at this whole web thing. And I'm just very confused in general. Basically, what I want to do is take an input via text using HTML and adding that input to database, table trans. Should be simple but I am lost. <li>Transaction Number</li> <li><input type=|text| name=|tnumber| </li> // do i need to use value? <li>Employee Name</li> <li><input type=|text| name=|ename| </li> <li><input type=|SUBMIT| value=|Add|></li> ...... ...... sqlite3 db $::env(ROOT)/database.db mb eval {INSERT INTO trans VALUES ($tnumber, $ename} mb close They are both in a same file and there are only two fields to the database to keep things simple. What I can see here is that tnumber and ename aren't declared as variables. So how do I do that so that the text input is assigned to respective variables?

  • Lotus Notes - Export emails to plain text file

    I am setting up a Lotus Notes account to accept emails from a client, and automatically save each email as a plain text file to be processed by another application. So, I'm trying to create my very first Agent in Lotus to automatically export the emails to text. Is there a standard, best practices way to do this? I've created a LotusScript Agent that pretty much works. However, there is a bug - once the Body of the memo exceeds 32K characters, it starts inserting extra CR/LF pairs. I am using Lotus Notes 7.0.3.
