Who: SaaS Web Apps – they use Software as a Service to create web applications that look and feel like desktop applications. What: SaaS Web Apps needed to build a Sports Contract Management System (SCMS) for one of its customers, Premier Stinson Sports. Why: The SCMS database is used for collecting, analyzing and recording college coach and athletic directors’ employment and contract data. The Challenge: Premier Stinson Sports works with a number of partners, each with its own needs and unique requirements. For example, USA Today uses the system to provide cutting edge news analysis while The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School uses it to for the latest sports contract data and student analysis. In addition, the system needed to be secure due to the sensitivity of the data; it was essential that the user security and permissions be easily configurable. As always, performance was a key factor, especially with the intense reporting and analytical capabilities for this project. Because of this, most of the processing had to be done on a dedicated server but the project called for the richness and responsiveness of a desktop application. The Solution: To execute the project, SaaS Web Apps used APS.Net-based Visual WebGui from Gizmox, combined with SQL Server 2008 and SQL Reporting Services. This combination resulted in a quick deployment for SaaS Web Apps’ customers. The Result: The completed project gave each partner the scalability and availability of a web application with the performance and security of a desktop application. As an example, USA Today pulls data from this database to give readers the latest sports stats – Salary analysis of 2010 Football Bowl Subdivision Coaches. And here’s a screenshot of the database itself. Great work, SaaS Web Apps!

Then I tried to update with terminal and apt-get as usual way. There then seems to be no update-files with a sudden after a pause --- Yes update-manager behaved strange, but it seems, that update-manager made a QUIET update ? There was nothing to see . . . I restarted my machine and new kernel is installed then.

    Does anyone know if the LIMIT and OFFSET clause work when using the UPDATE statement on iphone. on the sqlite3 website it says "if SQLite is built with the SQLITE_ENABLE_UPDATE_DELETE_LIMIT compile-time option then the syntax of the UPDATE statement is extended with optional ORDER BY and LIMIT clauses.." if not, can it be enabled? I'm using "UPDATE TESTDATA SET VAR = 1 LIMIT 1 OFFSET 1" but i get an error: near "LIMIT": syntax error I can get LIMIT and OFFSET clause to work on a SELECT statement. Are there any other ways around this?

Importing for the first time works without any issues. But can you suggest what can be the best way to update information.     Hi, I need to update a joined sub-class. Since Hibernate doesn't allow to update joined sub-classes in hql or named-query I want to do it via SQL. I also can't use a sql named-query because updates via named-query are not supported in Hibernate. So I decided to use a SQLQuery. But Hibernate complaints about not calling addScalar(). Are updates returning the number of rows affected and how is named that column? Are there any other ways to do an update on a joined sub-class in hibernate? Thanks in advance!

I was successful in modifying a few (name, phone number and email to be specific) but not all.     I have a generic question that I will try to explain using an example. Say I have a table with the fields: "id", "name", "category", "appearances" and "ratio" The idea is that I have several items, each related to a single category and "appears" several times. The ratio field should include the percentage of each item's appearances out of the total number of appearances of items in the category. In pseudo-code what I need is the following: For each category find the total sum of appearances for items related to it. For example it can be done with (select sum("appearances") from table group by category) For each item set the ratio value as the item's appearances divided by the sum found for the category above Now I'm trying to achieve this with a single update query, but can't seem to do it. What I thought I should do is: update Table T set T.ratio = T.appearances / ( select sum(S.appearances) from Table S where S.id = T.id ) But MySQL does not accept the alias T in the update column, and I did not find other ways of achieving this. Any ideas?

    I'm using SQL server 2005 (for testing) & 2007 (for production). I have to add a unique record ID to all the records in my table, in an existing column, using a "last record ID" column from another table. So, I'm going to do some sort of UPDATE of my table, but I have to get the "last record ID" from the other table, increment it, update THAT table and then update my record. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? Other users may be incrementing the counter also.

    I've been reading all the questions on here but I still don't get it I have two identical tables of considerable size. I would like to update table packages_sorted with data from packages_sorted_temp without destroying the existing data on packages_sorted Table packages_sorted_temp contains data on only 2 columns db_id and quality_rank Table packages_sorted contains data on all 35 columns but quality_rank is 0 The primary key on each table is db_id and this is what I want to trigger the ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE with.     Hello! Even though I've been a stalker here for ages, this is the first post I'm making. Hopefully, it won't end here and more optimistically future posts might actually be me trying to give a hand to someone else, I do owe this community that much and more. Now, what I'm trying to do is simple and most probably the reason behind it not working is my own stupidity. However, I'm stumped here. I'm working on an ASP.Net website that interacts with an SQL Server 2008 R2 database. So far everything has been going okay but updating a row (or more) just won't work. I even tried copying and pasting code from this site and others but it's always the same thing. In short: No exception or errors are shown when the update command executes (it even gives the correct count of affected rows) but no changes are actually made on the database.
