How to handle huge table ?

I would like to display to user a table which contains ~500,000 rows. The table should be calculated based on a file (i.e. the table is known at the beginning, and does not change). I guess that building the HTML text of this table is not a good idea in terms of memory performance. So how can I build such table ? I would like user to be able to scroll the table using a vertical scroll bar. Is it possible to build on the fly only the visible part of the table ? I'm afraid to see delays because of this. Is it a better idea to use server side programming rather than Javascript ? Any advise would be appreciated.

jquery issues - it wont change it accordingly

My coding isnt linking properly , its meant to use jquery to detect the OS and change the link accordingly , however it isn't. Adding anchors to h2 in text using python and regexp

I'm trying to add anchors to all h2's in my html, using python. This code will add those anchors, but I need to fill the name of the anchors too. Any idea if the name can be the number of the match in the loop or a slugified version of the text between the h2 tags? Customized bulleted list items in ASP.NET

Hi, I am just a beginner in ASP.NET. My question is simple, I wanna add list items dynamically from the code behind file and I want each item to have a text and couple of images as hyperlinks. The HTML sample should be like, <ul> <li>do foo  <a href="#"><img src="some_image.png" /></a></li> <li>do bar  <a href="#"><img src="some_image.png" /></a></li> ... </ul> The number of items is dependent on the collection retrieved by the code behind file. P.S. my code behind file is written in C#

How to hide overflow in this example?

is it able to "override/overwrite" an input element fixed value using javascript and/or jquery? i.e. if i have an input element like this: <div id="myDiv"> <input type="text" name="inputs" value="someValue" /> </div> is it possible to make a jquery object of that element and then change its value to something else then rewrite the jquery object to the dom?? i'm trying but obviously i haven't got good results! i've been trying something like this: $('input').val("someOtherDynamicValue"); var x = $('input'); $("#myDiv").html(x);

div Height: 0 problem in IE

to clear: both my content i use this: CSS: .clr { clear: both; height: 0; /* i have tried 0.001em to */ line-height: .001em; overflow: hidden; } HTML: <div class="clr"> </div> it works perfectly in every navigator. But in IE 7 & 8 the div still have a height of a few pixels. How can i avoid this?

Im doing a questionare (form) and i need to put a button submit that do two things : 1) Be a button type INPUT ( because I need to use this kind of button on my php code, I've if(@$_POST['Next']) for save the dates of the form in my DB). 2) That this button will have a link for go to the next screen of the questionare. I tried with a href="demo2.html" target="_blank"><input class="buttonNext" name="submit" type="submit" value="NEXT &#8592" ></a This code don't works but with IE browser on the page page appears a circle next to my button that are the link. So the button don't works, only save the data, but don't link to the next page. How can I solve it ?

padding not shifting my logo

I have a logo link that's using a background-image (css sprite). All works fine, but when I try to add a 20px padding to the top of the link (to give it more space for user to click the link), the background image is not moving down. Layout with divs... can you have too many?

What is the best practice for developing a layout? Is better to limit divs? I was looking through the html/css of some popular sites and they all seem to have divs within divs. For instance, a div for the entire page, a div for the topbar, a div within the top bar for the logo, search bar, etc. Is this a good practice? I suppose it's easier to position all the divs correctly and than place the necessary elements within the divs. It's what I've been doing this far but want to make sure I'm learning the correct approach. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm a person that learns best from example. Currently, I'm diving into the field of Web Development after fifteen years of developing desktop apps. I'm still getting used to all the web technologies used for developing modern web sites and everywhere I look, I see cool little UI elements and question how they're implemented. So I thought I'd ask you, the web experts...the wexperts :) What are some straight forward or creative ways you could code this grid-breaking arrow... The basic layout for this page looks like... What would the html/css code look like? Would you split the image into multiple images or could you use a single image? I'm sure this is a really simple concept and it completely boggles me. How do I submit a form from another page?

I have a two page site. Each page contains a header with "tabs" at the top, to navigate between page 1 and 2. When a tab is selected, I need the selected page to re-POST to the server, to quickly refresh before it is displayed. I have a form on each page that allows a manual refresh from that page but need to submit that form from the other page. For example, page 2 is displayed. The tab for page 1 is selected (which is on page 2) It should then submit the refresh form on page 1. Any help is appreciated. (Using jQuery, js, html and CSS)

Table changes depending on dropdown list values with servlet

What I want to realize is the following: In a JSP x I have a 3 dropdownlists and a button called edit when user click this button a table dynamically should be displayed. Now this table is modified correponding the values in those 3 dropdownlists. So it can be 3 cols or 4 cols or even 6 cols, it depends on the selected values. So what I tried is to use the servlet to getParameter doing the if clause construct the html and then forward the response. Have you any the suggestion of the structure that I can use in JSP? Turkish character problems while parsing (Android)

I am parsing an html content and have output on my screen. This website have Turkish characters such as çÇsSöÖgGiIüÜ. I am not able to show them as proper characters, they are printed out as question marks yet. Eclipse - Project - Properties - Resource - Text File Encoding = Inherited from container (Cp1254) I searched web and found this solution: Eclipse - Project - Properties - Resource - Text File Encoding = Other: UTF-8 However, it's not working. Create MVC 5 Combo Box from CRM Entities?

I am working on an MVC 5 App that pulls data from Dynamics CRM 5. The Data I am getting back is an IQueryable of type Account (The CRM Entity class auto generated by CrmSvcUtil). I am retrieving all of the items and can loop through them with code like this: @foreach (var item in Model.ToList()) { <tr> <td> @item.AccountId </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.Name) </td> </tr> } The problem is, I would like to instead put them in a drop down list. I can't figure out what the syntax is to put these in a DropDown is. Any suggestions?

Enable vertical scrolling on textarea

I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. I want that a vertical scroll bar appears and the users are not able to resize the text area as well. I searched online and tried solutions posted, but none seem to work. Hello, I'm using Selenium for making some work: script should click at link followed by it's own address. For example, there is a method: clickAndWait. I have to pass it link title. But at my page this title changes, so I have to pass address to click at. Could you help me with this? p.s. I asked this question in selenium group, but still have no answer. upd: For exampe, I have such html-code: <a href="lalala.com">Some changeable title</a> <a href="another.com">Some changeable title</a> And selenium pseudocode: ClickAndWait('Some changeable title') But I have to click at site 'another.com', not 'lalala.com'. And link's title changes every time. Only link address is the same.
