  • CLR Profiler Allocated Bytes and XNA ContentManager

    I've been fighting with XNA ContentManager and memory allocations for some weeks because I'm trying to port my game from XNA (Windows) to ExEn / Monotouch (iphone). The problem is that after playing a few levels, my game exits unexpectedly on a real iPhone device (not simulator). Profiling memory usage on Windows with CLRProfile, I found some useful stuff but I also found something I dont understand. If I use 2 ContentManagers (1 for shared assets and 1 for level assets), when profiling, "Allocated Bytes" grows and grows after level through level but Memory consumption measured by Windows Task Manager stays constant (down when I unload the content manager and up again when I load content). Obviously, I contentManager.Unload() when level ends. After a few levels my game exits unexpectedly on an iPhone device. If I use 1 content manager, "CRLProfiler Allocated Bytes" stays constant on Windows and on the iPhone; I can play the game normally and it doesnt exit unexpectedly. I use the same assets level through level. It seems like in ios (iPhone) when loading and unloading the same assets, it allocates memory and consumes all device memory, so the ios kill it. Can anybody explain me how this really works? I've read quite a bit, but I still don't understand what's going on.

  • Get and install Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS driver

    Recently, I changed my OS kernel from 10.04 to 11.10 (bugs), but after doing it, the video driver for the 8400 GS disappeared (was there in 10.04). I worked out the same procedure I did to install it in 10.04, mainly, sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-current sudo apt-get --purge autoremove sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y install nvidia-current but it didn't work even though the commands seemed to install the driver without problems.     My guess is this is on here somewhere but I have searched and even tried looking at bunch of other similar video problems. My ATI 9550 shows up as laptop in displays after update to Ubuntu 12.04, how do I fix this? I found the following command on another post sudo lshw -c video. This doesn't look to me like a laptop video would list? I also see this command xrandr, it reports this: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024 default connected 1280x1024+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x1024 0.0* 1024x768 0.0 800x600 0.0 640x480 0.0 This is what shows in displays for resolutions but only the 1280x1024 works the others produce tearing in the video. Also I should have mentioned 3D mode does not work. I have tried ATI/AMD drivers the new one won't load and older ones won't work. I found out the newer driver no longer supports the 9550.

    I have a Samsung Series 7 NP730U3E which is running Ubuntu Gnome 13.10. This computer have an Intel Core i5 3337U an AMD Radeon HD 8570M on the inside. Ubuntu 13.10 is said to have driver support for this graphics card, but I am not sure whether or not this is the case. When I check System Settings Details it says "Graphics: Intel® Ivybridge Mobile" and lspci | grep VGA returns VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09). But lshw -c video returns *-display description: Display controller product: Mars [Radeon HD 8730M] vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.     I am running httperf client on my m/c and after few seconds it is getting killed. dmesg shows: The command is: httperf --hog --client=0/1 --server=39.0.0.2 --port=80 --uri=/50kb --rate=20000 --send-buffer=4096 --recv-buffer=16384 --num-conns=6000000 --num-calls=1 Although I had done this test no. of times but never faced this error any time. From last two days I am observing this.   • Ubuntu 11.10 boot: xhost: unable to open display

    I've had this papercut for a while now, it's time it was fixed. When I boot up Ubuntu, choosing "Ubuntu...generic" from the grub screen, Ubuntu fails to load. It just sits at the driver/module loading screen. What seems to be the most significant line in this output is "xhost: unable to open display" If I choose "Ubuntu...(recovery mode)" from grub then it loads OK. I don't get why this is. Out of interest I tried enabling boot error logging with #/etc/default/bootlogd BOOTLOGD_ENABLE=Yes but I'm not seeing anything in that file. ETA: I've had this problem since fresh install of 11.10.     Hi friends I am getting images from webservice and loading these images in table view.But when i continue to scroll the program receives memory warning level1,level2 and then app exits with status 0.That happens only in device not in simulator.     I am trying to use a ViewFlipper and make it act like the home screen(The layout will move with your finger). Check out this for an example. I want to do this with a ViewFlipper that only contains two children so the opposite view should be shown on either side of the current view depending on which way the user moves their finger. This code works but only for 1 direction at a time.     Hi gang - [this may seem like my problem is with Compojure, but it isn't - it's with Clojure] I've been pulling my hair out on this seemingly simple issue - but am getting nowhere. I am playing with Compojure (a light web framework for Clojure) and I would just like to generate a web page showing showing my list of todos that are in a PostgreSQL database. The code snippets are below (left out the database connection, query, etc - but that part isn't needed because specific issue is that the resulting HTML shows nothing between the <body> and </body> tags). As a test, I tried hard-coding the string in the call to main-layout, like this: (html (main-layout "Aki's Todos" "Haircut<br>Study Clojure<br>Answer a question on Stackoverfolw")) - and it works fine. So the real issue is that I do not believe I know how to build up a string in Clojure. Not the idiomatic way, and not by calling out to Java's StringBuilder either - as I have attempted to do in the code below. A virtual beer, and a big upvote to whoever can solve it!     Could any help me to do this?My code is like: public CustomClass extends View { //uses ondraw() to do something } For displaying my custom view on HomeScreen i created a class to extend Broadcast Receiver public class customAppWidgetProvider extends BroadcastReceiver { public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); if (AppWidgetManager.ACTION_APPWIDGET_UPDATE.equals(action)) { RemoteViews views = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.main); //Here i want to create my custom view class object and i want to add this view to linear layout in main.xml CustomClass object = new CustomClass(context) ; LinearLayout layout = new LinearLayout(context) ; layout.setLayoutParameters(new LayoutParameters(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); layout.addView(object); views.addview(R.id.linearlayout, (ViewGroup) layout) ; views.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.analog_appwidget, PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, new Intent(context, AlarmClock.class), PendingIntent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT)); int[] appWidgetIds = intent.getIntArrayExtra( AppWidgetManager.EXTRA_APPWIDGET_IDS); AppWidgetManager gm = AppWidgetManager.getInstance(context); gm.updateAppWidget(appWidgetIds, views); } } } But adding viewgroup to RemoteView reference is not working... above main.xml contains only LinearLayout.I want to add custom view object to it.But after running this not showing anything on screen.. please help me to do this.Thanks in Advance.

  • How can I get size in bytes of an object sent using RMI?

    I'm implementing a cache server with MongoDB and ConcurrentHashMap java class. When there are available space to put object in memory, it will put at. Otherwise, the object will be saved in a mongodb database. Is allowed that user specify a size limit in memory (this should not exceed heap size limit obviously!) for the memory cache. The clients can use the cache service connecting through RMI. I need to know the size of each object to verify if a new incoming object can be put into memory. I searched over internet and i got this solution to get size: public long getObjectSize(Object o){ try { ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(o); oos.close(); return bos.size(); } catch (Exception e) { return Long.MAX_VALUE; } } This solution works very well. But, in terms of memory use doesn't solve my problem. :( If many clients are verifying the object size at same time this will cause stack overflow, right? Well... some people can say: Why you don't get the specific object size and store it in memory and when another object is need to put in memory check the object size? This is not possible because the objects are variable in size. :( Someone can help me? I was thinking in get socket from RMI communication, but I don't know how to do this...

Questions: Firstly right to the jargon, is there any actual difference between the two or do they mean the same? Is it safe to classify the current development mainly a html5/css3 based one? What popular frameworks are available to easily implement this? What testing methods used in this regard? What are the most common compatibility issues in terms of different browser types? Are there any external browser detection methods besides the API calls specific to the browser that are employed in this regard? I've also come across this while trying to find out the optimal highest layout size to account for http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10538599/default-web-page-width-1024px-or-980px which brings to light seemingly that 1366x768 is a popular web resolution. Is it safe to assume that just accounting for proper scaling from width 980px onwards to the maximum size would be sufficient to accommodate this? given we aren't presenting any new information for the new size. Does it make sense to have additional information ( which conflicts with purpose of responsive web design) to utilize the top size and beyond?

    Hello everyone! This is just a simple question. I've been reading the source of something which attaches to a memory address of a subroutine using DetourAttach(&(PVOID &)BindKeyT, BindKeyD); where BindKeyT is the address to a subroutine in memory. I'm curious, what exactly does (&(PVOID &) mean in english? I understand that PVOID is a void pointer, but how does this get translated into a function which can be used to attach a detour to?
