I am using drupal_execute to create a node programatically. The first line is working for field_prx_mp3_labels. The second (for taxonomy) is not. Note that the product name is being supplied by an attribute of the current node being processed (i.e. "@name").   Using Perl's XML::LibXSLT necessitates that I use XSLT 1.0, which means that I am stuck without XSLT 2.0 features. Is there a way that I can still pad text cleanly in a plain-text output from my processing? What I want is: <values> <headers> <header>Header 1</header> <header>Header 2</header> </headers> <value> <one>First value 1</one> <two>First value 2</two> </value> <value> <one>Second value 1</one> <two>Second value 2</two> </value> .... <value> <one>Nth value 1</one> <two>Nth value 2</two> </value> </values> To become Header 1 Header 2 First value 1 First value 2 Second value 1 Second value 2 ....   Three months ago I wrote a blog post entitled Some thoughts on Visual Studio database references and how they should be used for SQL Server BI where I shared some thoughts on a feature available to database developers in Visual Studio 2010 that I would love to see added to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS) and Reporting Services (SSRS). In there I said: Over the past few weeks I have been making heavy use of the Database tools in Visual Studio 2010 and one of the features that has most impressed me has been database references.   Database references allow you to have stored procedures in your database project that refer to objects (tables, views, stored procedures etc…) that exist in other database projects and hence when you build your database project it is able to resolve those references.   It occurred to me that similar functionality would be incredibly useful for SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS) & Reporting Services (SSRS) projects. After all reports, packages and data source views are rife with references to database objects – why shouldn’t we be able to have design-time dependency checking in our BI projects the same way that database and .Net developers do? In that blog post I shared links to three Connect submissions where I requested this feature be added to SSIS, SSAS & SSRS. In addition I also submitted a request that the feature be extended to .Net projects so that any reference to a database object in a .Net assembly can be resolved at build time. That Connect submission is at [Entity FX] Use database references to constrain the EDM and overnight it received this comment from Microsoft: We have been working on this feature for a while and and will be available soon This is really good news - it improves the Microsoft developer ecosystem by ensuring invalid references to database references get caught at build time (ideally as part of a Continuous integration build) rather than run time. [Hopefully it might nip this code-first nonsense in the bud too (Ooo...way to incite flame comments :) ) ]. If you want to see this feature in action then check out a video from Teched Europe last month entitled SQL Server Developer Tools Code-named "Juneau" where it is demo'd by Lance Delano and Tim Laverty.   The point of this blog post though is not just to draw attention to this forthcoming feature for .Net developers, it is to ask you to petition Microsoft to get this feature added to SSIS/SSAS/SSRS too. After all, we already know (from the video above) that the feature is coming to this new code-name Juneau development environment plus we also know that Juneau will be the development environment for SSIS/SSAS/SSRS as well - is it really much of a stretch to expect the BI tools to have access to this great feature too? I don't think so and if you agree with me then I urge you to vote and add a comment to the Connection submissions that are requesting this feature.   This fall I'm 99% going to London to attend the awesome Devdays 2011; I have many reasons to go there and some of them are: Professional stuff Great people Awesome topics Unicorns Passion London :) Obviously all the cool technologies that will be discussed are light years far from my daily work but useful for my side projects and maybe for some future employment. Now, to get to the point; a coworker said to me that he won't come with me because Devday London is expensive, and something expensive should reward you with a certificate, a certificate that could have some value to the eyes on an employer. Is he right? Do you think that attenting to this kind of event have some value on a resume? Should it be highlighted? Does it have any value for a future employer?

  I have server objects that have corresponding client objects. The data to be kept in sync is inside the server object's key/value dictionary. To keep the client objects in sync with the sever objects, I want the server to send the key/value dictionary every frame for each object. What data-structure/algorithm will allow me to send a list of key/value dictionaries using the least amount of bits? Bonus constraint 1: For each type of object, the values of some keys change more often than others. Bonus constraint 2: Memory usage on the server side is relatively expensive.

  I have AD Users, or contacts that are not Exchange Mailbox users, or contacts. I also have a SSO system (Ping Identity... technology similar to Microsoft ADFS), where it leverages the AD Schema attribute: CustomAttribute1 to store information needed for SSO. This CustomAttribute1 was created by the Exchange Schema. I would like to use CustomAttribute1 for both AD Users and AD Contacts, as well as the Exchange equivalent user and contacts. Question Since the Exchange tools will only allow me to modify "Exchange" users, what is the way to modify the AD counterpart? e.g. if the following command sets a mailbox... set-mailbox -Identity [email protected] -CustomAttribute1 [email protected] -WarningAction silentlyContinue What command will allow me to update an AD user (non-mailbox) under the same schema attribute?

• ActiveRecord model with datetime stamp with timezone support attribute.

  Rails is great that it will support timezone overall in the application with Time.zone. I need to be able to support the timezone a user selects for a record. The user will be able to select date, time, and timezone for the record and I would like all calculations to be done with respect to the user selected timezone. My question is what is the best practice to handle user selected timezones. The model is using a time_zone_select and datetime_select for two different attributes timezone and scheduled_at. When the model saves, the scheduled_at attribute gets converted to the locally defined Time.zone. When a user goes back to edit the scheduled_at attribute with the datetime_select the datetime is set to the converted Time.zone timezone and not the timezone attribute. Is there a nice way to handle to the conversion to the user selected timezone?

I like the separation of "work" in small, manageable functions, but I feel like I'm passing name, value, and options arguments around too much. Is there a way this can be refactored?   I have a MVC Web Api Controller that uses the [Authorize] attribute at the class level. This makes all of the api methods require authorization but I'd like to create an attribute called [ApiPublic] that overrides the [Authorize] attribute. There is a similar technique described here for normal MVC controllers. I tried creating an AuthorizeAttribute based of the System.Web.Http.AuthorizeAttribute but none of the overridden events are called if I put it on a api method that has the [Authorize] at the class level. Anyone have an idea how to override the authorize for the web api?   How would I assign a column of a TableView to be a specific entry in a Core Data entity that is linked to the NSArrayController via a to-many relationship? For example Entity: MovieEntity Attributes: title(NSString), releaseDate(NSDate) Relationship: posters<-->> PosterEntity Entity:PosterEntity Attributes: imageLocation(NSURL), default(BOOL) Relationships: movie<<--> MovieEntity So I have a three column table that I want to display the Poster, Title, and Release Date attributes in, but as one movie could potentially have several different style's of posters how do I get the poster column to only show the one that's marked default? Since the rest of the table is defined in Interface Builder I would prefer to keep it that way for the sake of keeping the code as clean as possible, but if this can only be done programmatically then I'm all ears. I just wanted to give preference in case there's more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak.

  The documentation on Core Data entities says: You might implement a custom class, for example, to provide custom accessor or validation methods, to use non-standard attributes, to specify dependent keys, to calculate derived values, or to implement any other custom logic. I stumbled over the non-standard attributes claim. It's just a guess: If my attribute is anything other than NSString, NSNumber or NSDate I will want to have a non-standard Attribute with special setter and getter methods? So, for example, if I wanted to store an image, this would be a non-standard Attribute with type NSData and a special method, say -(void)setImageWithFileURL:(NSURL*)url which then pulls the image data from the file, puts in in an NSData and assigns it to core data? Or did I get that wrong?

  In one article I was reading on ViewState, I saw a sentence saying that I should not fall into a mistake to believe that the value of a TextBox is stored in ViewState; it is stored in PostBack data. From here what I understand is when I post back a web form, the input controls values are stored in HTTP Request body. Not in the Viewstate. But as far as I know ViewState values are stored in an hidden field called __VIEWSTATE anyway. Then does it mean that __VIEVSTATE value is not posted in HTTP POST Request body as a postback data? Sounds nonesense to me. In another words, basically if I say the ViewState mechanism for such scenerio works like this, am I seeing it right or skipping something: You enter a value on an empty TextBox and submit the page The value of text box is posted back inside POST HTTP Request body. Nothing inside __VIEWSTATE at this point from the TextBox On the server side, the TextBox is created with the default value on OnInit method of the page The TrackChange property of ViewState is set to true. The posted back data of TextBox is loaded. Because it is different than the TextBox defalut value(because the user entered something), the ViewState of this text box is marked as DIRTY. The new value of the textbox is written into __VIEWSTATE hidden field From now on __VIEWSTATE hiddenfeild contains the last given value of the TextBox The page is sent to the user's browser having the __VIEWSTATE hidden field. When I try to assign the values to array it is giving error:incompatible types in assignment. I tried to cast the value but I got error: pointer value used where a floating point value was expected. I need to store the values in an 2 dimensional array . How can I make it ?   Hello to all! This is my first question here on stack overflow. i need help on a problem i encountered during an ASP.NET MVC2 project i am currently working on. I should note that I'm relatively new to MVC design, so pls bear my ignorance. Here goes : I have a regular form on which various details about a person are shown. One of them is "Date of Birth". My view is like this <div class="form-items"> <%: Html.Label("DateOfBirth", "Date of Birth:") %> <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.DateOfBirth) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.DateOfBirth) %> </div> I'm using an editor template i found, to show only the date correctly : <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.DateTime?>"%> <%= Html.TextBox("", (Model.HasValue ? Model.Value.ToShortDateString() : string.Empty))%> I used LinqToSql designer to create my model from an sql database. Once i enter an incorrect date in the DateOfBirth field then no custom message is displayed even if use the attribute like [Birthday(ErrorMessage=".....")]. The message displayed is the one returned from the db ie "The value '32/4/1967' is not valid for DateOfBirth.". I tried to enter some break points around the code, and found out that the "value" in attribute is always null when the date is incorrect, but always gets a value if the date is in correct format. The same ( value == null) is passed also in the code generated by the designer. This thing is driving me nuts. Please can anyone help me deal with this? Also if someone can tell me where exactly is the point of entry from the view to the database. Is it related to the model binder? because i wanted to check exactly what value is passed once i press the "submit" button. Thank you.
