  • .bat script doesn't work by using window scheduler

    i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler. Below is the script: rem **************************** rem ** To create back up file ** rem **************************** "C:\Program Files\WinZip\WINZIP32.EXE" -a -r -p "E:\Backup\Daily\sst.zip" "P:\SST\*.*" When i run it via window scheduler, the status is always "running" but nothing is generated.     Is it possible to query App Engine's Datastore from outside the cloud, i.e. a client application? I could possibly write an app to be housed within AppStore and query the Datastore returning XML-formatted data; I want to know, however, if there are any Datastore endpoints which would allow me to do it directly. Also, in case it is possible, am I able to do so via SSL?

  • Calling nested batch files in Windows 2008 R2 task scheduler

    I am trying to schedule a batch file in Windows 2008 R2 Server. My batch file internally calls two other batch files. I am trying to schedule this on hourly basis. The schedular calls my batch file correctly but it does not run the other batch files which I am calling internally! Any idea why this is not working? When I run my batch file manually outside the scheduler... it works! Its only with the scheduler that it cannot run the other batch files. I have already tried the UCA option.

    I was going to CSV based export/import for large data with app engine. My idea was just simple. First column of CSV would be key of entity. If it's not empty, that row means existing entity and should overwrite old one. Else, that row is new entity and should create new one. I could export key of entity by adding key property. class FrontExporter(bulkloader.Exporter): def __init__(self): bulkloader.Exporter.__init__(self, 'Front', [ ('__key__', str, None), ('name', str, None), ]) But when I was trying to upload CSV, it had failed because bulkloader.Loader.generate_key() was just for "key_name" not "key" itself.   • Greasemonkey is getting an empty document.body on select Google pages.

    Hi, I have a Greasemonkey script that processes Google search results. But it's failing in a few instances, when xpath searches (and document body) appear to be empty. Running the code in Firebug's console works every time. It only fails in a Greasemonkey script. Greasemonkey sees an empty document.body. I've boiled the problem down to a test, greasemonkey script, below. I'm using Firefox 3.5.9 and Greasemonkey 0.8.20100408.6 (but earlier versions had the same problem). Problem: Greasemonkey sees an empty document.body. Recipe to Duplicate: Install the Greasemonkey script. Open a new tab or window. Navigate to Google.com (http://www.google.com/). Search on a simple term like "cats". Check Firefox's Error console (Ctrl-shift-J) or Firebug's console. The script will report that document body is empty. Hit refresh. The script will show a good result (document body found). Note that the failure only reliably appears on Google results obtained this way, and on a new tab/window. Turn javascript off globally (javascript.enabled set to false in about:config). Repeat steps 2 thru 5. Only now the Greasemonkey script will work. It seems that Google javascript is killing the DOM tree for greasemonkey, somehow. I've tried a time-delayed retest and even a programmatic refresh; the script still fails to see the document body.   • Duplicate an AppEngine Query object to create variations of a filter without affecting the base quer

    In my AppEngine project I have a need to use a certain filter as a base then apply various different extra filters to the end, retrieving the different result sets separately. e.g.: base_query = MyModel.all().filter('mainfilter', 123) Then I need to use the results of various sub queries separately: subquery1 = basequery.filter('subfilter1', 'xyz') #Do something with subquery1 results here subquery2 = basequery.filter('subfilter2', 'abc') #Do something with subquery2 results here Unfortunately 'filter()' affects the state of the basequery Query instance, rather than just returning a modified version. Is there any way to duplicate the Query object and use it as a base? Is there perhaps a standard Python way of duping an object that could be used? The extra filters are actually applied by the results of different forms dynamically within a wizard, and they use the 'running total' of the query in their branch to assess whether to ask further questions. Obviously I could pass around a rudimentary stack of filter criteria, but I'd rather use the Query itself if possible, as it adds simplicity and elegance to the solution.

    I'm looking to find a way to update some Windows Defender settings via command line, gpo etc. From my research it looks like windows defender creates a hidden scheduled task named 'MP Scheduled Scan', but modifying this task does not seem to make a difference as to what shows up in the Windows Defender UI. I have also done some process monitoring to see what data Windows Defender uses and I can see that it reads/writes to the 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scan' ScheduleDay key, but if I attempt to modify this key, I get an "Error Writing the new values contents" error message.

    I want to make attributes of GAE Model properties. The reason is for cases like to turn the value into uppercase before storing it. For a plain Python class, I would do something like: Foo(db.Model): def get_attr(self): return self.something def set_attr(self, value): self.something = value.upper() if value != None else None attr = property(get_attr, set_attr) However, GAE Datastore have their own concept of Property class, I looked into the documentation and it seems that I could override get_value_for_datastore(model_instance) to achieve my goal. Nevertheless, I don't know what model_instance is and how to extract the corresponding field from it. Is overriding GAE Property classes the right way to provides getter/setter-like functionality? If so, how to do it? Added: One potential issue of overriding get_value_for_datastore that I think of is it might not get called before the object was put into datastore. Hence getting the attribute before storing the object would yield an incorrect value.

    If I have a pair of floats, is it any more efficient (computationally or storage-wise) to store them as a GeoPtProperty than it would be pickle the tuple and store it as a BlobProperty? If GeoPt is doing something more clever to keep multiple values in a single property, can it be leveraged for arbitrary data? Can I store the tuple ("Johnny", 5) in a single entity property in a similarly efficient manner?

    OK, this is basicly just about any non-default OS API running on all different OS. But for my example let´s consider platform Windows, API SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer). Actually this question came to my mind when I was reading about SDL. Originally, I thought that on Windows (and basicly any other OS) you must use OS API to make certain actions, like wrtiting to screen, creating window and so on, becouse that API knows what kernel calls and system subroutines calls it has to do. But when I read about SDL, I surprised me, becouse, you cannot make computer to do anything more than OS can, since you cannot acess HW directly, only thru OS API, from Console allocation to DirectX. So, my question actually is, how does this not-default-OS APIs work? Do they use (wrap) original system API (like MFC wraps win32 api)? Or, do they actually have direct acess to Windows kernel? Or is there any third, way in between? Thanks.

    Are there examples of how to pass a list of key_names to Model.get_or_insert() ? My Problem: With a method of ParentLayer I want to make the children.     I've got a scheduled task set up in my Windows 7 machine which is meant to run a BAT file when I'm not around, i.e. the machine has been idle for 15 minutes. Does anyone know how to track down the cause of the error code ? Checked on MSDN and it says ... SCHED_E_TASK_ATTEMPTED 0x80041324 The Task Scheduler service attempted to run the task, but the task did not run due to one of the constraints in the task definition. And to confuse me even further, I've just noticed it has run while I'm at the machine with last result (0x0)

    I hope this is the correct forum. I wish to write a mobile application (MVC 4 mobile app) that extends Google Latitude for Windows Mobile 7 (or version 8 when launched in November). However, according to Google's own website (see http://www.google.com/mobile/latitude/), the check-in feature is not supported on Windows Mobile. So, how would I implement such a feature (not so interested in the UI here) using the technologies that I have mentioned? EDIT The implementation needs to store check-in data against a Google Latitude account.

  • Running batch file through a service.

    I'm trying to schedule a batch file to run through a third party application, however the output file doesn't get created in the directory. If I run the .BAT file from the command line, it works and the file gets created. Also using the Windows Schedule will also succeed. Basically, the 3rd party software will schedule the .BAT file and it shows success within the 3rd party user interface. The difference between running from the command prompt and the software, is that the software will use its Windows service to launch the batch. The 3rd party software will show success since it was able to successfully call the .BAT file to run, however it has no control of the other EXE's that's being called within the script. I'm able to run a simple .BAT file in the 3rd party software, for example a copy command. The .BAT I'm having problems with calls a compiled EXE which launches Excel to create a file to a location. The .bat file calls something.exe, which then calls Excel.exe: C:\something.exe -o D:\filename.xlsm C:\filename.xlsm refresh_pivot Do you think it's a permissions issue? I used Process Monitor to verify any Access Denied errors but everything seems to be working according to the trace. It worked on a non-64-bit OS, I'm currently using Win2008 64-bit.

  • Way to wake up win-xp pc, without hibernate or network?

    I have no need to wake up a remote pc, just the pc I use at work. I want to wake it up, by itself, without having to use hibernate, which I am not comfortable with, or have ever used. Then I can have the "System Scheduler" freeware that I use, to automatically do anti-virus updates, anti-malware updates, ccleaner /auto of course... It just would make my day's easier if it was already on by the time I arrived, I usually always turn my pc off when I am done with work, or if I didn't, I have a scheduled task to auto-shutdown pc 1 hour after my normal work hours... Without using hibernate, can i get my pc to wake up on it's own at a certain time each weekday?

    Hi, I am trying to use a fetcher method to retrieve items from my datastore. If I use the following def getItem(item_id): q = Item.all() q.filter("itemid = ", item_id) It fails because nothing is returned. If I hard code in an item like def getItem(item_id): q = Item.all() q.filter("itemid = ", 9000) it fetches just fine, and sings merrily along. I have tried every which way to get this to work. I have used result = db.GqlQuery("SELECT * FROM Item WHERE item_id = :1 LIMIT 1", title).fetch(1) to the same effect. If I hard code in a number, works fine. I have tried setting the select statement as a local string, assembling it that way, casting the int as a string, and nothing. When I output the SELECT statement to the screen, looks fine. I can cut ans paste the output into the string, and whammo, it works. Any help would be appreciated.

    I think I'm overlooking something simple here, I can't imagine this is impossible to do. I want to filter by a datetime attribute and then order the result by a ranking integer attribute. When I try to do this: query.filter("submitted >=" thisweek).order("ranking") I get the following: BadArgumentError: First ordering property must be the same as inequality filter property, if specified for this query; received ranking, expected submitted Huh?     Are very large TextProperties a burden? Should they be compressed? Say I have a information stored in 2 attributes of type TextProperty in my datastore entities. The strings are always the same length of 65,000 characters and have lots of repeating integers, a sample appearing as follows: entity.pixel_idx = 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5....etc. entity.pixel_color = 2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,...etc. So these above could also be represented using much less storage memory by compressing say using only each integer and the length of its series ( '0,8' for '0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0') but then its takes time and CPU to compress and decompress? Any general ideas? Are there some tricks for testing different attempts to the problem?

  • Black screen after scheduled resume from sleep

    I have a problem with my two Windows 7 setups at home. Whenever a scheduled task wakes up the machines from sleep, a black screen with a mouse cursor appears. If I move the mouse or press any key, desktop appears. The biggest problem is that during that black screen phase the display, sometimes even the PC too, doesn't go to stand by after a set period of time in power settings. If I get the desktop to show up, standby functions work fine. Display goes blank after a few minutes and as soon as the task doesn't need the PC, it goes back to sleep. It's frustrating that this "feature" is wasting energy and keeps lighting up the pc in the middle of the night for me to find it that way after I wake up. I found a handful of threads on the intertubes about the issue, but there were no answers in any of them. It sometimes happens in my XP machine at work as well.
