  • Help trying to figure out why IIS7 is crashing / locking up / denying connections

    Hi folks, I've got a pretty busy website that is running on a single web front end machine, on W2K8 + IIS7. Every now and then - eg. maybe monday at 3am or something, then a few days later .. some early morning time .. then nothing for 2 weeks ... etc - the website fails to respond to any client connections. ie. no one can connect to the website. I can remote desktop to the machine, etc no probs. I restart the app pool (the website is running in intergrated mode), still nothing. I try and get a crash dump of the process (it's around 600 mb maybe even more) ... that fails after about a min of trying (and i have plenty of HD space). The only way to fix this issue, is to manually stop the www service and then start it again. The stopping takes a while (a minute?) while starting is nearly instant. I'm at a loss to figure out what part of my code is causing this. At first, I thought it might be a stack overflow because of some error that might be going to the error page, which in turn errors .. rinse repeat boom. But i've had a look at the error page and it feels ok. So, I'm hoping someone might be able to help and say how I can correctly get a proper dump of the IIS process so i can then do some more autopsy on it. I would email Tess Ferrandez (the goddess of crash debuging) but I thought I'd try here before I spam her. Can anyone have any suggestions to how I can figure out how to start to debug this issue?

  • IPTABLES syntax help to forward Remote Desktop requests to a VM [CentOS host]

    I've a VM running MSWindows XP hosted on my CentOS 5.4 machine. I can rdesktop into it from the hosting machine and work just fine using the private ddress (192.168.122.65), but I now need to allow Remote Desktop access from other computers (not just the machine hosting the VM). [Edit] I only need to allow access for a day or so, so don't want to add a NIC (for XP activation reasons). Could someone help me with the iptables syntax? The VM is on a private/virtual network: 192.168.122.65 and my CentOS machine is on a physical network, at 10.1.3.38 (and 192.168.122.1 as the GW for the virtual net). I found this question, but none of the answers seemed to work and I'm a bit timid at blindly trying variations. My FORWARD rules are as listed. Mostly the configuration is working, but regardless of what I try I cannot allow localhost to access the local Apache only (i.e. localhost to access localhost:80 only).   • Help in recovering partition

    Okay so i had one NTFS partition and i wanted to resize it, but while resizing it with partition magic some error occurred and now i am not able to enter in my partition anymore. I have slackware 13 also and i tried mounting the partition from there but it didn't succeed. One friend of mine came to my house with some live-cd os called backtrack3 and when he booted from cd, he was able to mount the damaged partition - and was able to read/write on it anywhere. I saw my files, they are all there, so nothing's erased just the partition is somehow damaged. But strange thing was that from backtrack we weren't able to mount some of the working partitions of my comp, and we could mount the damaged one. So i am asking for some help here: My files are all there, and i saw them from backtrack. What can i do to fix the partition so it would be usable from windows/slackware again ? Please tell me anything you've got because i have some important data on it. Thank you.

    I have a view model that looks like this: namespace AutoForm.Models { public class ProductViewModel { [UIHint("DropDownList")] public String Category { get; set; } [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CategoryList { get; set; } ... } } It has Category and CategoryList properties. The CategoryList is the source data for the Category dropdown UI element. I have an EditorTemplate that looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<ProductViewModel>" %> <%@ Import Namespace="AutoForm.Models"%> <%=Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.Category , Model.CategoryList ) %> NOTE: this EditorTemplate is strongly typed to ProductViewModel My Controller is populating CategoryList property with data from a database. I cannot get the DropDownListFor template to render a drop down list with data from CategoryList. I know CategoryList is getting populated with data in the controller because I see the data when I debug and step through the controller. Here's my error message in the browser: Server Error in '/' Application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Thanks Tom As a followup, I noticed that ViewData.Model is null when I'm stepping through the code in the EditorTemplate. I have the EditorTemplate strongly typed to "ProductViewModel" which is also the type that's passed to the View in the controller. I'm perplexed as to why ViewData.Model is null even though it's getting populated in the controller before getting passed to the view.

    Does anyone here use Dreamweaver for Struts development? I've been working on a web application using Eclipse/vi, but want to use Dreamweaver so that I can apply some nice looking Dreamweaver templates. I looked for tutorials on Struts development with Dreamweaver, but couldn't find any, and when I tried to import my page, a lot of stuff was broken, which I guess is expected since a lot of the html is dynamically generated by servlets/jsps. So, has anyone had any luck with dreamweaver/struts and if so, could you share how you configured it?

    Hiya, I currently use Cufon accross our site with something similar to Cufon.set('fontFamily', 'DIN Medium').replace('h1'); Now for a single H1 tag i would like Cufon to be disabled, this is without changing the H1 tag to any other tag, it must remain as it is. I can add classes etc to the H1 tag if required, and can do any HTML/CSS/JS just not changing the actual tag. Anyone know if this is possible and if it is how? Thanks in advance, Shadi

Is there a way to enforce this in this browser (possible even that the phone will have it's number mode on when entering the form)? And if I wanted to allow floats, is something possible then?

  • Hide cursor in Chrome (and IE)

    I have the following CSS that hides the mouse cursor for anything on the web page. It works perfectly in FireFox but in IE and and Chrome it doesn't work. html { cursor: none; } In Chrome I always see the mouse pointer. In IE however I see whatever cursor was last 'active' when it entered the screen. Presumably it's keeping the last selection instead of removing it.

  • What text editors support vertical rulers?

    I'm looking for a feature somewhat like the vertical red 80 columns marker in NetBeans but one that's easier to use. I'd like it to function more like the tabs in MS Word except that the horizontal line is displayed on the entire file. I looked on the Comparison of Text Editors over at Wikipedia and I didn't find that "vertical ruler" was one of their features. It would be used to line up html tags in a massive file that I did not create, but have to maintain.

I have a html table with a column of text boxes (mileage), all of them are disabled when the page loads, and I need that when user clicks on a check box, the text box for that column should be enabled and become a required field, and then if the user unchecks the checkbox, the textbox on that row must be disabled and the required class removed. I already have the function to enable and disable the text boxes (column mileage) when the user clicks on the corresponding checkbox, but it is written in javascript.However, for some reason it only works in IE).     Hi all It appears my InfoWindow, when you click on the home icon on my Google Maps v3, is not properly auto-sizing to the content of the InfoWindow. It gives scrollbars when it should not. The InfoWindow should be properly auto-sizing. Any ideas on why?   • IE6 the last three characters in a div are being repeated else where in the page? really weird

    Hey, Basically i have an issues (in IE6) where the last three characters of a line of text in a div are being repeated further down the page even though they are only in the HTML once. http://www.disturbmedia.com/jason/test/ please see the numbers in black, its always the last three characters that get repeated, so strange. I have never seen this before, its only in IE6? Anyone have any info?! Am super confused as to how this is happening. Thanks Jason

  • Filtering a dropdown in Angular IE11 issue

    I have a requirement for a select html element that can be duplicated multiple times on a page. The options for these select elements all come from a master list. All of the select elements can only show all of the items in the master list that have not been selected in any of the other select elements unless they just were duplicated. So I wrote a custom filter to do this in Angular and it seems to work just fine provided you are not using IE11. In IE when you select a new item from a duplicated select element, it seems to select the option after the one you selected even though the model still has the correct one set. I realize this sounds convoluted, so I created a jFiddle example. Using IE 11 try these steps: Select Bender Click the duplicate link Select Fry Notice that the one that is selected is Leela but the model still has Fry (id:2) as the one selected Now if you do the same thing in Chrome everything works as expected. Can anyone tell me how I might get around this or what I might be doing wrong?     Hi All, I'm a newcomer trying to get my feet wet with Ruby and Sinatra. I followed the Slicehost articles in getting Ruby 1.9.1 setup along with Thin 1.2.7 with a reverse proxy to Nginx. Most things were going pretty smooth until I tried to start up my thin server.
