Hi Guys,
Can someone point me to some instructions for configuring multiple monitors in Ubuntu 10.04 using the generic drivers (nv)? I can't seem to find this online.

Hi, I would like to be able to serve a local webpage (on a LAN) when someone connects to a WiFi network. This happens quite often in libraries, cafes etc, so i'm sure it can be done, but I have no idea how and can't seem to find much through searching the web. That, and my very limited networking knowledge means I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. Many thanks!
The checkbox "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" is checked.
Yet, at some point in time, my computer has stopped giving me AutoPlay prompts.
I can't really elaborate beyond this because that's basically all there is to observe.
Does anyone know of a solution?
I am running VMware Fusion on my Mac (10.6) with an Ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit) VM for my development environment. How would I setup SSH to be able to SSH into the Ubuntu VM from the Mac? Also, when I am testing websites in browsers, how would I set it up so that I can go to the site on FF on the Mac and have it point to the site running on the Apache server on Ubuntu?
I'm trying out SnagIt 10 ( I won it at a giveway, yay me!). Coming to the point: When I choose to capture and send it to FTP, Snagit seems to upload the files with a filename as - plain snagit. Is there any setting which I can change so that Snagit will prompt me for the filename ?
Hello,
A professor at the university asked me if I could install some software for him on his laptop that runs SLES 11. I'm not familiar with SUSE (I typically work with debian based machines) so I'm having some trouble finding/installing some software.
Here's the list of software he needs installed:
-xv (plotting software)
-xmgrace
-LaTeX
Can someone point me toward some rpms for the above-mentioned software?
i would like to develop an application to edit image's metadata, I know there are free tools for this out there but I would like to research into this and develop my own application. I am not software developer but I have the skill of learning to program really fast.
Can someone please point me in the right direction, Thanks!
Can it be done in Java oR VB or which language would you recommend, please guide me
Context: How can I configure a NameCheap domain to point to an Apache subfolder?
Following Devin's answer here I've created a .htaccess file in /var/www and wrote in the following:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond !sergiotapia.me
RewriteRule (.*) sergiotapia.me/$1 [QSA]
My folder structure is such:
/var/www/
/var/www/sergiotapia.me
When visiting the URL sergiotapia.me I see the contents of /var/www when I would like to be directly redirected to /var/www/sergiotapia.me
Any ideas?
How would someone go about setting up wildcard sub-domains with the suggested Tornado deployment? Specifically for SaaS apps that would allow users to have http://username.example.com/ As well as letting them point their own domain to that URL.
I'm getting the following GET requests in my apache logs:
109.230.251.14 - - [29/Mar/2011:16:28:18 +0100] "GET http://209.191.92.114/config/pwtoken_get?login=jackmcphee232&src=ygodgw&passwd=e59e2240415e6f1aba3da72b8f189f4e&challenge=9TbU_9yfZhKmzlHtK9X4OkQlesTH&md5=1 HTTP/1.0" 404 1226 "-" "-"
Any idea what it could be and how is that possibly a get request? That IP address seems to point to Yahoo! I'm very confused.
I have a mount point — let it be /media/question — and two possible devices: a physical HDD and a remote NFS folder. Sometimes I plug the device in physically, in other cases I mount it via NFS.
Is there a way to specify both of them in fstab so that executing mount /media/question will preferably choose physical volume, and when it's not available — NFS?
I'm running desktop Ubuntu 9.10 on my Dell laptop. Previously it was Ubuntu 9.04. After some period of time (lets say 3-4 months) my X fails to start automatically after some restart calls. If that takes place my network manager applet doesn't start either (after I do startx). Can any one point out what I'm missing/what's the problem?
For the use case where the WAN connection goes down, but employees can still access wifi, I'd like them to be able to check on some sort of a public router status page in their problem reports. This may have been available on DD-WRT at one point (or still is), I can't 100% recall anymore.
Going through all LuCI's screens with a fine-toothed comb and googling a fair amount isn't producing results. Anyone have a solution?
So of lately, I've had to warn my users to watch out for unwanted programs that are coming in with Adobe Flash and Java updates. Adobe seems to be pushing Google's Chrome and Java with the Ask.com Toolbar. I admit that it could be much worse because both instance simply require an uncheck during some point of the update process, but on a large scale, prevention is better than confrontation.
Any suggestions?
SharePoint MOSS 2007 on 64 bit OS and SQL. Added a new Web Front End to our farm, all sites seem to work fine - but now we've noticed that the search service has completely stopped working. It works if I change my host file to point to the original WFE, but if I use the NLB IP or the IP of the new WFE, it says "Unable to Connect to the Search Service
The new MobileMe iCal data lives in the cloud, and the data on your computer is actually a cache. This support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4226 from Apple explains how to backup calendar data by exporting to an .ics file. I would like to automate that process via AppleScript, Automator or any other method (paid software is fine).
The sticking point with AppleScript is selecting the calendar on the left hand column. In Automator I don't think the available actions support this level of automation.
We are setting up a new database system and have 15 drives to play with (+2 on-board for the OS).
With a total of 15 drives would it be better to setup all 14 as one RAID-10 block (+1 hot spare) OR split into two RAID-10 sets one for Data (8 disks) and one for logs/backups (6 disks).
My question boils down to the following: is there a specific point where having more drives in a RAID-10 setup will out preform having the drives broken into smaller RAID-10 sets.
Is this possible? I want to close programs in the taskbar with middle-click, like tabs in firefox. The best approach I have so far is waiting for the mini-view that pops up when you point with the mouse in the taskbar and then middle-clicking there, but I would like to close them directly.
Is it possible to do the following in Ubuntu? If so can someone point me in the right direction.
Say you want to set a keyboard shortcut to do the following:
For examples sake, set Alt+F to open Firefox and maximize it, but only if Firefox is not already running. If it is running and not maximized, then maximize the most recently touched Firefox window. If it is maximized, then minimize Firefox.
Thanks, Joe
I'm new to Excel-post-2000, and I'd like to learn more about how to use tables (formerly lists) and structured references.
Can anyone point me to some good treatments of this topic that go beyond the help?
(For example, there are numerous full books about just pivot tables. Something like that for using table would be ideal.)
I want to set up a server with a lot of users so that (in order of importance):
Users cannot obtain ip addresses of other users with who, or last
Users cannot wall
Users can write to each other
Users are able to selectively mesg n other users, as opposed to simply blocking everyone
Point 1 is easily solved by a 660 on wtmp and utmp, but I don't know how to achieve the other points
The server runs Gentoo Linux
I would like to create a few static subdomains like:
mycategory.mydomain.com
in a rather small website and would like it to point to the folder:
mydomain.com/mycategory
without showing such redirection in browser address bar.
What is an easiest way to achieve it? I can do it in either IIS settings, asp.net, C# code, etc
I guess there are better ways then creating a few separate Sites in IIS - one for each subdomain.
I went to my zoneedit.com, changed mydomain.com to point to a different IP.
But changes haven't taken affect yet.
Is this because my ISP DNS is caching?
Is there any way to configure a Windows 7 RDP to require a client certificate to login. So user need to use the certificate and password (just like SSH or client-side certificates in HTTP)
If there is, could you point me a step by step article?
I keep getting this warning when doing operations in git (commit, fetch etc). I had a 'bad' branch at some point in the past. It doesn't prevent any operations so far with my repository, but I'd like to clean it up.
git fsck doesn't seem to help. Also, I can not just re-clone from another repository as I'd like to keep some commits that are unique to this repository.
