    There is a (not so) particular kind of shape in Orchard: zones. Functionally, zones are places where other shapes can render. There are top-level zones, the ones defined on Layout, where widgets typically go, and there are local zones that can be defined anywhere. These local zones are what you target in placement.info. Creating a zone is easy because it really is just an empty shape. In the Layout template where we are working, the Model is the Layout shape itself, so Model.Header is really creating a new Header shape under Layout, or getting a reference to it if it already exists. The Zone function is then called on that object, which is equivalent to calling Display. In other words, you could have just written the following to get the exact same effect: @Display(Model.Header) The Zone helper function only exists to make the intent very explicit. Now here's something interesting: while this works in the Layout template, you can also make it work from any deeper-nested template and still create top-level zones. The difference is that wherever you are, Model is not the layout anymore so you need to access it in a different way: @Display(WorkContext.Layout.Header) This is still doing the exact same thing as above. This is what enables us to add shapes into a zone before the code that you would think creates it has even run. For example, in the Layout.cshtml template in TheThemeMachine, the BadgeOfHonor shape is being injected into the Footer zone on line 47, even though that zone will really be "created" on line 168.

    Not so trivial to explain but I'll try. Launch Rhythmbox Insert a CD in the CD-ROM The CD is not automatically identified (it's of a not very famous Russian band) I'm manually setting track names and... Magic, black magic! If I change the keyboard layout (RU <- EN) during editing then Rhythmbox kicks me out of the editing. So if a track name contains both Russian and English words I'm compelled to write one part, press Enter (so that the changes are not lost), change layout, click on the track name, write another part in the opposite layout. In some tricky names I have to do this several times. By the way, I use Alt+Shift to change layout. Any ideas?

  • Maintaining packages with code - Adding a property expression programmatically

    Every now and then I've come across scenarios where I need to update a lot of packages all in the same way. The usual scenario revolves around a group of packages all having been built off the same package template, and something needs to updated to keep up with new requirements, a new logging standard for example.You'd probably start by updating your template package, but then you need to address all your existing packages. Often this can run into the hundreds of packages and clearly that's not a job anyone wants to do by hand. I normally solve the problem by writing a simple console application that looks for files and patches any package it finds, and it is an example of this I'd thought I'd tidy up a bit and publish here. This sample will look at the package and find any top level Execute SQL Tasks, and change the SQL Statement property to use an expression. It is very simplistic working on top level tasks only, so nothing inside a Sequence Container or Loop will be checked but obviously the code could be extended for this if required.     First the picture: As you can see in the image, the color used for the icons and words Applications and Places (In spanish in this case) they have a different background dark gray color than the rest of the panel. Also the icons look rather bigger in that panel. Now my questions are: Can the background colors be customized so they look the same all the way in the panel. Can the icons be somehow minimized a little so they do not look strange (bigger actually) How to edit the way to add icons to the panel. I have to actually have to press the ALT key then right click on it to add something. That extra key is not friendly at all. In this particular case am trying to help an older man start in Ubuntu. Unity is too much for him but Gnome is friendlier for him (Learning curve is not the best for older people.. specially 68+ year old people).

    I am looking to use 'Packet Loss Concealment' to conceal lost PCM frames in an audio stream. Unfortunately, I cannot find a library that is accessible without all the licensing restrictions and code bloat (...up for some suggestions though). I have located some GPL code written by Steve Underwood for the Asterisk project which implements PLC. There are several limitations; although, as Steve suggests in his code, his algorithm can be applied to different streams with a bit of work. Currently, the code works with 8kHz 16-bit signed mono streams. Variations of the code can be found through a simple search of Google Code Search. My hope is that I can adapt the code to work with other streams. Initially, the goal is to adjust the algorithm for 8+ kHz, 16-bit signed, multichannel audio (all in a C++ environment). Eventually, I'm looking to make the code available under the GPL license in hopes that it could be of benefit to others... Attached is the code below with my efforts. The code includes a main function that will "drop" a number of frames with a given probability. Unfortunately, the code does not quite work as expected. I'm receiving EXC_BAD_ACCESS when running in gdb, but I don't get a trace from gdb when using 'bt' command. Clearly, I'm trampimg on memory some where but not sure exactly where. We could have delayed the real speech a little, but that would require more buffer manipulation, and hurt the efficiency of the no-lost-packets case (which we hope is the dominant case). Instead we use a degenerate form of OLA to modify the start of the synthetic data.   • 13.04 Gnome - removing icons from lower panel

    I use the stripped down Gnome UI for 13.04 (Gnome-no effects) and on the bottom there is a panel where you can put icons for app launchers, by dragging them from applications menu. This is probably a really dumb question, but I can't figure out how to REMOVE a launcher icon from that panel once I put there! How is this done? Note - I saw another answer that said click alt-super and right click on top panel - I clicked remove launcher and now my top Application and Places menus are gone! How do I get them back - all screwed up now.

    Often my ubuntu freezes up altogether(only able to move my cursor). So i try to reboot using the keys "ALT+PrntScrn+REISUB", but this is what happens Once i finish hitting the keys RE, my screen goes BLACK and it shows up a few lines of commands (or whatever) which I dont understand. I have no other choice other than manually force shut down (by pressing power button for 3-4 seconds) Here is a screenshot of what my black screen displays as soon as I hit R,E What do these lines mean? Is there anyway I can safely restart my PC? (Since i was unable to use printscreen, i had to manually take a snap of my monitor using my camera. I had taken 3 pictures of the same screen, because I could not capture the entire text displayed on my screen in a single click)

In my local business full page, I have a carousel with several images, so what I did is that on the container of this carousel i have written the following: "itemprop='photos' itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageObject"", i.e. <div class="tourism-product-media-gallery" itemprop='photos' itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageObject"> and then on each and every image i have written the following: "itemprop="contentURL"", i.e. <img src="@mediaItem.NormalImage" alt="@mediaItemCaption" itemprop="contentURL"/> But i am not convinced that this is the way it should be.   • How to find a Window which should be visible on Ubuntu 14.04

    In Ubuntu 14.04 I have Keepass2 in my Launchbar. I do execute Keepass and I can see it is executing by a small arrow. With statement : ps - fu bernard | grep keepass2 Also with alt-tab I see Keepass. If I click on the Keepass icon still I am not switched to Keepass. The same happened to me with XAMPP from https://www.apachefriends.org so it seems a general Ubuntu 14.04 problem I execute this in Virtualbox client. If I switch sometimes to other VB client, when I come back the Windows is visible.

Ubuntu 11.10 I edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows, by pressing Alt+F2 and gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf I get Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BoardName "GeForce GTX 470" Option "NoLogo" "True" Option "Coolbits" "4" EndSection Started getting these messages, Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap" So I did this, sudo aptitude install gtk2-engines-pixbuf terminal, a@z:~$ nvidia-settings -a [gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1 a@z:~$ nvidia-settings -q fans 1 Fan on z:0 [0] z:0[fan:0] (Fan 0) a@z:~$ nvidia-settings -a [fan:0]/GPUCurrentFanSpeed=80 ERROR: Error assigning value 80 to attribute 'GPUCurrentFanSpeed' (z:0[fan:0]) as specified in assignment '[fan:0]/GPUCurrentFanSpeed=80' (Unknown Error).   • Why does installing gnome shell extensions from extensions.gnome.org fail silently?

    On a fresh Ubuntu install (12.04, 64-bit), after installing gnome-shell, I've tried to install some extensions from extensions.gnome.org but got no result. I've tried with Firefox and Chromium and got the same issue. Open any extension page on extensions.gnome.org. Switch extension to "ON". Agree with confirmation about installation. Nothing happens and nothing has been installed (.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions is empty). I've checked .xsession-errors, Firefox's javascript console, gnome-shell console errors (Alt-F2 + looking glass). There isn't any trace of any error.

  • Neo4J and Azure and VS2012 and Windows 8

    Now, I know that this has been written about, but both of the main places (http://www.richard-banks.org/2011/02/running-neo4j-on-azure.html and http://blog.neo4j.org/2011/02/announcing-neo4j-on-windows-azure.html) utilise VS2010, and well, I’m on VS2012 and Windows 8. Not that I think Win 8 had anything to do with it really, anyhews! I’m going to begin from the beginning, this is my first foray into running something on Azure, so it’s been a bit of a learning curve. But luckily the Neo4J guys have got us started, so let’s download the VS2010 solution: http://neo4j.org/get?file=Neo4j.Azure.Server.zip OK, the other thing we’ll need is the VS2012 Azure SDK, so let’s get that as well: http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/develop/downloads/ (I just did the full install). Now, unzip the VS2010 solution and let’s open it in VS2012: <your location>\Neo4j.Azure.Server\Neo4j.Azure.Server.sln One-way-upgrade? Yer! Ignore the migration report – we don’t care! Let’s build that sucker… Ahhh 14 errors… WindowsAzure does not exist in the namespace ‘Microsoft’ Not a problem right? We’ve installed the SDK, just need to update the references: We can ignore the Test projects, they don’t use Azure, we’re interested in the other projects, so what we’ll do is remove the broken references, and add the correct ones, so expand the references bit of each project: hunt out those yellow exclamation marks, and delete them! You’ll need to add the right ones back in (listed below), when you go to the ‘Add Reference’ dialog make sure you have ‘Assemblies’ and ‘Framework’ selected before you seach (and search for ‘microsoft.win’ to narrow it down) So the references you need for each project are: CollectDiagnosticsData Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient Diversify.WindowsAzure.ServiceRuntime Microsoft.WindowsAzure.CloudDrive Microsoft.WindowsAzure.ServiceRuntime Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient Right, so let’s build again… Sweet! No errors.   Now we need to setup our Blobs, I’m assuming you are using the most up-to-date Java you happened to have downloaded :) in my case that’s JRE7, and that is located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 So, zip up that folder into whatever you want to call it, I went with jre7.zip, and stuck it in a temp folder for now. In that same temp folder I also copied the neo4j zip I was using: neo4j-community-1.7.2-windows.zip OK, now, we need to get these into our Blob storage, this is where a lot of stuff becomes unstuck - I didn’t find any applications that helped me use the blob storage, one would crash (because my internet speed is so slow) and the other just didn’t work – sure it looked like it had worked, but when push came to shove it didn’t. So this is how I got my files into Blob (local first): 1. Run the ‘Storage Emulator’ (just search for that in the start menu) 2. That takes a little while to start up so fire up another instance of Visual Studio in the mean time, and create a new Console Application. 3. Manage Nuget Packages for that solution and add ‘Windows Azure Storage’ Now you’re set up to add the code: public static void Main() { CloudStorageAccount cloudStorageAccount = CloudStorageAccount.DevelopmentStorageAccount; CloudBlobClient client = cloudStorageAccount.CreateCloudBlobClient(); client.Timeout = TimeSpan.FromMinutes(30); CloudBlobContainer container = client.GetContainerReference("neo4j"); //This will create it as well   UploadBlob(container, "jre7.zip", "c:\\temp\\jre7.zip"); UploadBlob(container, "neo4j-community-1.7.2-windows.zip", "c:\\temp\\neo4j-community-1.7.2-windows.zip"); }   private static void UploadBlob(CloudBlobContainer container, string blobName, string filename) { CloudBlob blob = container.GetBlobReference(blobName);   using (FileStream fileStream = File.OpenRead(filename)) blob.UploadFromStream(fileStream); } This will upload the files to your local storage account (to switch to an Azure one, you’ll need to create a storage account, and use those credentials when you make your CloudStorageAccount above) To test you’ve got them uploaded correctly, go to: http://localhost:10000/devstoreaccount1/neo4j/jre7.zip and you will hopefully download the zip file you just uploaded. Now that those files are there, we are ready for some final configuration… Right click on the Neo4jServerHost role in the Neo4j.Azure.Server cloud project: Click on the ‘Settings’ tab and we’ll need to do some changes – by default, the 1.7.2 edition of neo4J unzips to: neo4j-community-1.7.2 So, we need to update all the ‘neo4j-1.3.M02’ directories to be ‘neo4j-community-1.7.2’, we also need to update the Java runtime location, so we start with this: and end with this: Now, I also changed the Endpoints settings, to be HTTP (from TCP) and to have a port of 7410 (mainly because that’s straight down on the numpad) The last ‘gotcha’ is some hard coded consts, which had me looking for ages, they are in the ‘ConfigSettings’ class of the ‘Neo4jServerHost’ project, and the ones we’re interested in are: Neo4jFileName JavaZipFileName Change those both to what that should be. OK Nearly there (I promise)! Run the ‘Compute Emulator’ (same deal with the Start menu), in your system tray you should have an Azure icon, when the compute emulator is up and running, right click on the icon and select ‘Show Compute Emulator UI’ The last steps! Make sure the ‘Neo4j.Azure.Server’ cloud project is set up as the start project and let’s hit F5 tension mounts, the build takes place (you need to accept the UAC warning) and VS does it’s stuff. If you look at the Compute Emulator UI you’ll see some log stuff (which you’ll need if this goes awry – but it won’t don’t worry!) In a bit, the console and a Java window will pop up: Then the console will bog off, leaving just the Java one, and if we switch back to the Compute Emulator UI and scroll up we should be able to see a line telling us the port number we’ve been assigned (in my case 7411): (If you can’t see it, don’t worry.. press CTRL+A on the emulator, then CTRL+C, copy all the text and paste it into something like Notepad, then just do a Find for ‘port’ you’ll soon see it) Go to your favourite browser, and head to: http://localhost:YOURPORT/ and you should see the WebAdmin! See you on the cloud side hopefully! Chris PS Other gotchas! OK, I’ve been caught out a couple of times: I had an instance of Neo4J running as a service on my machine, the Azure instance wanted to run the https version of the server on the same port as the Service was running on, and so Java would complain that the port was already in use.. The first time I converted the project, it didn’t update the version of the Azure library to load, in the App.Config of the Neo4jServerHost project, and VS would throw an exception saying it couldn’t find the Azure dll version 1.0.0.0.

Alt makes the bar go away, and then 7-8 minutes later, it pops up again. This happens when I'm watching fullscreen or not fullscreen. Can you help me fix this? I've been using VLC instead (because it does not have this problem), but I don't like it as much as Movie Player.
