  • Percentage function for a group based on another group.

    - by Jeff O
I have two grouping levels in a report. Group A can have a Percentage() of the entire report and so can Group B, but I would like to know the Percentage() of Group A of Group B. Even if I code it, it seems like once the inner and outer groups have created their footers, I can't go back to to the inner group and set it's value. Example: Group A Total 50 Group A percentage of Report Total = 33% Group A Percentage of Group B Total = 33% but I want 50% Group B Total 100 Group B Percentage of Report Total = 66% Report Total 150

  • Haskell: Why is it saying my function type is off?

    - by linkmaster03
I wrote a little Haskell program to find the area of a triangle, primarily to practice custom types, but it keeps throwing the following error on compile: areafinder.hs:7:4: Couldn't match expected type 'Triangle' against inferred type 'm b' In a stmt of a 'do' expression: putStr "Base: " In the expression: do { putStr "Base: "; baseStr I'm not sure where 'm b' comes from, so I'm at a loss here. Why is it throwing this error, and what can I do to fix it? Here is my code: module Main where data Triangle = Triangle Double Double -- base, height getTriangle :: Triangle getTriangle = do putStr "Base: " baseStr Double calcTriangle (Triangle base height) = base * height main = putStrLn ("Area = " ++ show (calcTriangle getTriangle)) Thanks. :)

  • Returning a list in this recursive coi function in python.

    - by Nate
Hello. I'm having trouble getting my list to return in my code. Instead of returning the list, it keeps returning None, but if I replace the return with print in the elif statement, it prints the list just fine. How can I repair this? def makeChange2(amount, coinDenomination, listofcoins = None): #makes a list of coins from an amount given by using a greedy algorithm coinDenomination.sort() #reverse the list to make the largest position 0 at all times coinDenomination.reverse() #assigns list if listofcoins is None: listofcoins = [] if amount >= coinDenomination[0]: listofcoins = listofcoins + [coinDenomination[0]] makeChange2((amount - coinDenomination[0]), coinDenomination, listofcoins) elif amount == 0: return listofcoins else: makeChange2(amount, coinDenomination[1:], listofcoins)

  • MS DOS function like ipconfig to get system performance specs?

    - by JustADude
I am aware of MSINFO32, but I'm wondering if there is a MS DOS command similar to ipconfig in order to get system specifications? I would like for the system specifications to be displayed in the MS DOS prompt. I would like to see at least: CPU RAM BUS speed Thanks for any insights. Edit: I am unable to install any other software, so just have to use existing DOS programming commands to extract this information. Thank you again. 2nd Edit: Whoops. Using Windows XP and Windows Vista.

  • What's the difference? eval() or just call the function directly?

    - by question_about_the_problem
    I'm not php expert and I don't know what's the difference(1) between a and b. a.)eval('return "'.base64_decode("encoded_text").'";') b.)base64_decode("encoded_text") -I THINK, a is php code and b is just string. And my other question is: What is the difference(2) between c and d? c.)eval('return "'.base64_decode("encoded_text").'";') d.)eval(base64_decode("encoded_text")) So I have 2 questions. Who can answer/help ? Thanks.

  • How to use a function for every C# WinForm instead of pasting .

    - by nXqd
protected override bool ProcessCmdKey(ref Message msg, Keys keyData) { { if (keyData == Keys.Escape) this.Close(); return base.ProcessCmdKey(ref msg, keyData); } } I discovered this snippet to close windows form by esc. I really want to implement this to every windows form. I try to create a new abstract class which inherit from Form and another windows form will inherit from this one . But it doesn't work this way . abstract class AbsForm: Form { protected override bool ProcessCmdKey(ref Message msg, Keys keyData) { { if (keyData == Keys.Escape) this.Close(); return base.ProcessCmdKey(ref msg, keyData); } } } public partial class HoaDonBanSach : AbsForm { public HoaDonBanSach() { InitializeComponent(); } Thanks for reading this :)

  • Where do I put all these function-like #defines, in C?

    - by Tristan
I'm working with an embedded system, and I'm ending up with a ton of HW-interfacing #define functions. I want to put all of these into a separate file (for OOP-ness), but I don't know the best way to #include that. Do I just put them all into a .c file, then include that? Seems silly to put these in a .h file.

  • How to display the found matches of preg_match function in PHP?

    - by Eric
I am using the following to check if links exist on file.php: $fopen = fopen('file.php', 'r'); $fread = fread($fopen, filesize('file.php')); $pattern = "/^<a href=/i"; if (preg_match($pattern, $fread)) { echo 'Match Found'; } else { echo 'Match Not Found'; } if I echo preg_match($pattern, $fread) I get a boolean value, not the found matches. I tried what was on the php.net manual and did this: preg_match($pattern, $fread, $matches); then when I echoed $matches I got "Array" message. So I tried a foreach loop and when that didn't display anything I tried $matches[0] and that too outputted nothing. So how does one go about displaying the matches found?

  • Are these REST HTTP response codes right, and what about the Content-Type?

    - by talentedmrjones
    I'm writing a controller helper that sets the proper response headers for my REST controller action. It's pasted below and should be simplified enough for those who aren't familiar with Zend Framework to understand what I'm doing. My question is: Are these codes correct for their respective responses, and in the case of "access denied" do I use a 401 or 403? Also, in case of responding with an error, I understand I should be placing a message in the response body, but should I set the "Content-Type" to "text/plain"? <?php class App_Controller_Helper_RestResponse extends Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Abstract { public function denied() { // 403 or 401? } public function notFound() { // 404 } public function created() { // 201 } public function deleted() { // 204 } public function redirect() { // 301 // new url } public function malformed() { // 400 } public function gone() { // 410 } }

  • How to access a method of a closure's parent object?

    - by Bytecode Ninja
I have defined a class named MyClass and I have defined two methods myMethod1 and myMethod2 for it: function MyClass() {} MyClass.prototype.myMethod1 = function() {...}; MyClass.prototype.myMethod2 = function() {...}; Inside myMethod1, I use jQuery and there's a callback closure defined there: MyClass.prototype.myMethod2 = function() { $.jQuery({success: function(data) { this.myMethod2(); }, ...}); } Now the problem is that this no longer is referring to MyClass. The question is how can I refer to it? At the moment I have assigned it to a variable named thisObj and access it this way: MyClass.prototype.myMethod2 = function() { var thisObj = this; $.jQuery({success: function(data) { thisObj.myMethod2(); }, ...}); } Is there a better way to access MyClass.this from the closure nested in myMethod2? Thanks in advance.

  • What hack can I use to suppress an unused function warning?

    - by Yuval A
Consider a private method which is called from JNI and not used otherwise, generating a compiler warning about an unused method: private void someMethodCalledOnlyFromJNI() { // WARNING: method is never used // .... } This is some legacy code in Java 1.4 - so no dice on @SuppressWarnings. What hack would you use to suppress this compiler warning?

  • Fastest way to move records from an Oracle database into SQL Server

    - by user347748
Ok this is the scenario... I have a table in Oracle that acts like a queue... A VB.net program reads the queue and calls a stored proc in SQL Server that processes and then inserts the message into another SQL Server table and then deletes the record from the oracle table. We use a DataReader to read the records from Oracle and then call the stored proc for each of the records. The program seems to be a little slow. The stored procedure itself isn't slow. The SP by itself when called in a loop can process about 2000 records in 20 seconds. But when called from the .Net program, the execution time is about 5 records per second. I have seen that most of the time consumed is in calling the stored procedure and waiting for it to return. Is there a better way of doing this? Here is a snippet of the actual code Function StartDataXfer() As Boolean Dim status As Boolean = False Try SqlConn.Open() OraConn.Open() c.ErrorLog(Now.ToString & "--Going to Get the messages from oracle", 1) If GetMsgsFromOracle() Then c.ErrorLog(Now.ToString & "--Got messages from oracle", 1) If ProcessMessages() Then c.ErrorLog(Now.ToString & "--Finished Processing all messages in the
