  • Network Authentication when running exe from WMI

    Hi, I have a C# exe that needs to be run using WMI and access a network share. However, when I access the share I get an UnauthorizedAccessException. If I run the exe directly the share is accessible. I am using the same user account in both cases. There are two parts to my application, a GUI client that runs on a local PC and a backend process that runs on a remote PC. When the client needs to connect to the backend it first launches the remote process using WMI (code reproduced below). The remote process does a number of things including accessing a network share using Directory.GetDirectories() and reports back to the client. When the remote process is launched automatically by the client using WMI, it cannot access the network share. However, if I connect to the remote machine using Remote Desktop and manually launch the backend process, access to the network share succeeds. The user specifed in the WMI call and the user logged in for the Remote Desktop session are the same, so the permissions should be the same, shouldn't they? I see in the MSDN entry for Directory.Exists() it states "The Exists method does not perform network authentication. If you query an existing network share without being pre-authenticated, the Exists method will return false." I assume this is related? How can I ensure the user is authenticated correctly in a WMI session?   • Hudson trigget builds remotely gives a forbidden 403 error

    I have a shell script on the same machine that hudson is deployed on and upon executing it, it calls wget on a hudson build trigger URL. Since its the same machine, I access it as http://localhost:8080/hudson/job/jobname/build?token=sometoken Typically, this is supposed to trigger a build on the project. But I get a 403 forbidden when I do this. Anybody has any idea why? I have tried this using a browser and it triggers the build, but via the command line it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

  • Deadlock in SQL Server 2005! Two real-time bulk upserts are fighting. WHY?

    Here's the scenario: I've got a table called MarketDataCurrent (MDC) that has live updating stock prices. I've got one process called 'LiveFeed' which reads prices streaming from the wire, queues up inserts, and uses a 'bulk upload to temp table then insert/update to MDC table.' (BulkUpsert) I've got another process which then reads this data, computes other data, and then saves the results back into the same table, using a similar BulkUpsert stored proc. Thirdly, there are a multitude of users running a C# Gui polling the MDC table and reading updates from it. Now, during the day when the data is changing rapidly, things run pretty smoothly, but then, after market hours, we've recently started seeing an increasing number of Deadlock exceptions coming out of the database, nowadays we see 10-20 a day. The imporant thing to note here is that these happen when the values are NOT changing. To me it looks like it's deadlocking on the PK of the table, so I tried removing that PK and switching to a Unique Constraint instead but that increased the number of deadlocks 10-fold. I'm totally lost as to what to do about this situation and am open to just about any suggestion. HELP!! Now I need to make the artifacts folder a parameter so it can be changed during execution of different targets.   • Prevent OCUnit tests from running when compilation fails

    I'm using Xcode 3.2.2 and the built in OCUnit test stuff. One problem I'm running into is that every time I do a build my unit tests are run, even if the build failed. Let's say I make a syntax error in one of my tests. The test fails to compile and the last successful compilation of the unit tests are run. The same thing happens if one of the dependent targets fail to build - the tests are still run. Which is obviously not what I want. How can I prevent the tests from running if the build fails? If this is not possible then I'd rather have the tests never run automatically, is that possible? Sorry if this is obvious, I'm an Xcode noob. Should I be using a better unit testing framework?

  • Using Hive in a maven project

    I have a project that I am migrating from ant to maven. The project makes use of a lightly-customized Hive build. I figured I would just import this build into our internal maven repo and list it as a dependency in the project's pom file. The problem I'm running into is that the Hive build just generates a bunch of jars in build/dist/lib. Some of these are the core Hive jars themselves and some are jars that Hive depends on. What's the best way to deal with these? Should I put all the core hive jars into our internal repo and just deal with undocumented dependencies in the new project's pom file? Or just jar up everything as a jar of jars and deploy that to the repo? Would that approach even work? Kind of a maven newbie still, thanks for any help.

  • Web Deployment Project failed to map path for include virtual

    I am building my site with a web deployment project but the build fails with a number of errors all relating to the "#include virtual" directives in my master page. The includes are necessary to import a set of centrally managed html template files. Here is an example of the include directive and associated error: <!-- #include virtual="/v3/sits/pdpdev/assets-templates/inc/head.html" --> /PDPRegistration.csproj/Pages/ContentPage.Master(15): error ASPPARSE: Failed to map the path '/v3/sits/pdpdev/assets-templates/inc/head.html'. The error for each included file actually appears multiple times. I'm not sure what is being mapped or why, but this was never a problem until I started using WDP (which I wanted to alter web.config depending on the build environment, among other things.) The project is built locally on my PC and then copied to the web server via a mapped drive. I found a few solutions on the 'net involving IIS metabase - they weren't quite clear to me, and I'm not sure if they apply given how I build and deploy the project (that is, would I have to build on the same system as IIS in order to make use of the metabase?) Can anyone suggest how I can get my project to build with WDP?

  • How to get a service to listen on port 80 on Windows Server 2003

    I've coded a custom windows service that listens on TCP port 80 but when I try to install it on a Windows Server 2003 machine it fails to start because some other service is already listening on that port. So far I've disabled the IIS Admin service and the HTTP SSL service but no luck. When I run netstat -a -n -o | findstr 0.0:80 it gives me the process id 4 as the culprit, but when I look at the running processes that process id points to the "System" process. What can I do to get the System process to stop listening on port 80 and get my service to listen instead? P.S. I should point out that the service runs fine if I install it on my Windows XP or Windows 7 development boxes. Also, I should specify that this has nothing to do with it being a service. I've tried starting a regular application that attempts to bing to port 80 on the Windows Server 2003 with the same outcome - it fails because another application is already bound to that port.

  • Can a 32-bit RHEL4 userland work with a 64-bit kernel?

    Is there a way to change an i386 RHEL4 machine to run an amd64 kernel, but ensure that it still builds software into same i386 binaries? On Debian this seems quite straightforward: just install an amd64 kernel (worst case, build one like this guy: http://www.debian-administration.org/users/jonesy/weblog/1) and prefix everything with "linux32". Then everything that considers uname -m will be unchanged, I just need to handle the few cases that consider uname -r. What is the Red Hat equivalent? Is the only way a full 64-bit installation on another disk and then chrooting back to the 32-bit system before anyone builds anything? (Even the best examples of that seem to be Debian-based.) Background: We make a large system that runs on (a variant of) i386 RHEL4. However, some of the larger RHEL build machines now have enough RAM that they might benefit from going 64-bit (for the kernel and maybe some of the bigger build steps). Our build system doesn't support cross-compilation.

    I'm running an ANT task in background and checking in 60 second intervals whether that task is complete or not. If it is not, every 60 seconds, a message should be displayed on screen - "Deploy process is still running. $slept seconds since deploy started", where $slept is 60, 120, 180 n so on. There's a limit of 1200 seconds, after which the script will show the log via 'ant log' command and ask the user whether to continue. If the user chooses to continue, 300 seconds are added to the time limit and the process repeats.   • Granite DS Actionscript Code Generation Ant cannot find class error

    I am trying to get my Ant build to run the granite DS Actionscript code generation task and am running into some problems. At the moment I am getting this error: BUILD FAILED C...\build.xml:62: Could not load Java class file: SampleDTOOne.class So the .class files are obviously being found. I am not however sure if this error means that the it cannot load the .class file or that it cannot find the actual java source code. My Ant task definition looks like this: <classpath> <pathelement location="C.../src/packages/" /> </classpath> <fileset dir="${base.build.dir}/jc/classes/gpbit/packageName"> <include name="*.class" /> </fileset> </gas3> I have tried many different values for the classpath but cannot get anythign to work. I do not like the path that I am using to find the .class files but again at the moment this is the only one I can get to work. None of the variables seem to make it any easier to get to this location. The fileset is definitely working as it definitely found the .clas files to include the name in the error message.     I've got this XML: <BillingLog> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2003-11-04</date-and-time> <application-name>Billing Service</application-name> <severity>Warning</severity> <process-id>123</process-id> <description>Timed out on a connection</description> <detail>Timed out after three retries.</detail> </BillingItem> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2010-05-15</date-and-time> <application-name>Callback Service</application-name> <severity>Error</severity> <process-id>456</process-id> <description>Unable to process callback</description> <detail>Reconciliation timed out after two retries.</detail> </BillingItem> </BillingLog> That I want to project using LINQ-to-XML into a collection of BillingItem objects contained in a single BillingLog object. public class BillingLog { public IEnumerable<BillingItem> items { get; set; } } public class BillingItem { public string Date { get; set; } public string ApplicationName { get; set; } public string Severity { get; set; } public int ProcessId { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public string Detail { get; set;} } This is the LINQ query that I'm using to project the XML (which is contained in the string variable source). XDocument xdoc = XDocument.Parse(source); var log = from i in xdoc.Elements("BillingLog") select new BillingLog { items = from j in i.Descendants("BillingItem") select new BillingItem { Date = (string)j.Element("date-and-time"), ApplicationName = (string)j.Element("application-name"), Severity = (string)j.Element("severity"), ProcessId = (int)j.Element("process-id"), Description = (string)j.Element("description"), Detail = (string)j.Element("detail") } }; When I try and iterate over the objects in log using foreach. foreach (BillingItem item in log) { Console.WriteLine ("{0} | {1} | {2} | {3} | {4} | {5}", item.Date, item.ApplicationName, item.Severity, item.ProcessId.ToString(), item.Description, item.Detail); } I get the following error message from LINQPad. Cannot convert type 'UserQuery.BillingLog' to 'UserQuery.BillingItem' Thanks in advance.

  • Compile IL code at runtime using .NET 3.5 and C# from file

    I would like to take a file that is an IL file, and at run time compile it back to an exe. Right now I can use process.start to fire off the command line with parameters (ilasm.exe) but I would like to automate this process from a C# service I will create. Is there a way to do this with reflection and reflection.emit? While this works: string rawText = File.ReadAllText(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")), Encoding.ASCII); rawText = rawText.Replace("[--STRIP--]", guid); File.Delete(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName"))); File.WriteAllText(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")),rawText, Encoding.ASCII); pi = new ProcessStartInfo(); pi.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; pi.FileName = "\"" + ilasm + "\""; pi.Arguments = string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")); using(Process p = Process.Start(pi)) { p.WaitForExit(); } It is not ideal as I really would like this to be a streamlined process. I have seen examples of creating the IL at runtime, then saving, but I need to use the IL I already have in file form and compile it back to an exe. Thanks.

  • Static Libraries on iPhone device

    I have two projects, a Cocoa iPhone application and a static library which it uses. I've tested it successfully on the iPhone simulator, but when I try to deploy it to my iPhone device I get (symbol not found) link errors. If I remove the dependancy of the library the project builds/runs fine. I have made sure all the build settings are set to iPhoneOS not the simulator. Im sure its something simple, but has anyone run into similar problems moving from iPhone simulator to device? --EDIT: I have managed to create new projects (one for the application and one for the static library), and successfully get them to run on the iPhone or simulator. But I have a very strange problem... for each specific project I cannot get it working for BOTH the device and the simulator... I have double checked the build settings, made sure the libraries that are being references are for the matching build settings (I believe) but I cannot resolve these linking errors. I think I must be doing something very wrong... all the apple documentation says 'its super simple - one click' but this is giving me a lot of problems. This is probably something to do with xCode build settings, but I cannot seem to understand why selecting the different build platforms and rebuilding the libraries does not work.
