• ejb timer service vs cron

  Hi Ejb timer service can start some process in desired time intervals. Also we can do the same thing with cron (min 1 minute) interval. But doing it with cron we have more power on controlling, monitoring and changing the intervals. Also we can restart if needed the cron very easily by command line. Also we can add or remove lines in the cron transparently. What are the advantages of using ejb timer services over calling the ejbs from cron ? (several lines of code in the cron classes are not a problem) Regards.

• Classloader problems Tomcat 6 javagent

  I am using Salve Dependency Injection library that instruments the byte code of the web application. I specified -javaagent in Tomcat VM options and pointed it to the Salve agent jar. The agent jar gets loaded, but then it throws a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError unable to find classes that are in other Salve jars which are located in WEB-INF/lib folder of my web app. I can solve this problem by putting those JARs in Tomcat/endorsed folder. However, some of those jars depend on third-party libraries, such as Spring and servlet-api.jar. Therefore, I am forced to put all these dependencies in Tomcat/endorsed as well. Could anybody suggest a better way for handling dependencies of a Tomcat javaagent? Thanks.

  Hey I have a problem getting my head around how custom GWT event Handlers work. I have read quite a bit about the topic and it still is some what foggy. I have read threads here on Stackoverflow like this one http://stackoverflow.com/questions/998621/gwt-custom-event-handler.Could someone explain it in an applied mannar such as the following. I have 2 classes a block and a man class. When the man collides with the block the man fires an event ( onCollision() ) and then the block class listens for that event. Thanks

• java.util.regex.* Recursive matching

  Hi Guys, I have been using the java.util.regex.* classes for Regular Expression in Java and all good so far. But today I have a different requirement. For example consider the pattern to be "aabb". Now if the input String is aa it will definitely not match, however there is still possibility that if I append bb it becomes aabb and it matches. However if I would have started with cc, no matter what I append it will never match. I have explored the Pattern and Matcher class but didn't find any way of achieving this. The input will come from user and system have to wait till pattern matches or it will never match irrespective of any input further. Any clue? Thanks.

So it seems it has something to do with Zend Framework?

Etc They told me they want to implement PSP. Would you resign if a company wants to measure this way? OR Would you install this kind of software for self improvement?

• Selenium/NUnit run one test on multiple IP addresses.

  I have a test suite DLL written in C# that uses Selenium.This is then loaded into NUnit and tests can be performed on our embedded web server boards. Does anyone know how to run a NUnit Selenium test on multiple IPs in multiple browsers? I have tried creating multiple DefaultSelenium classes but they point to the same Internet Explorer window. I need multiple instances of the Selenium RC controlling individual Internet Explorer windows. Have been looking a lot on the Selenium User Group and in various documentation but can find a definitive answer. Cheers, Matt

• Replacement for PHP's __autoload function?

  I have read about dynamically loading your class files when needed in a function like this: function __autoload($className) { include("classes/$className.class.php"); } $obj = new DB(); Which will automatically load DB.class.php when you make a new instance of that class, but I also read in a few articles that it is bad to use this as it's a global function and any libraries that you bring into your project that have an __autoload() function will mess it up. So does anyone know of a solution? Perhaps another way to achieve the same effect as __autoload()? Until I find a suitable solution I'll just carry on using __autoload() as it doesn't start becoming a problem until you bring in libraries and such. Thanks.

• Netbeans Editor Library?

  Netbeans seems to say in several places that it supports a library to just host the "Netbeans editor" widget in some other program. It has some weird documentation that seems to say a lot, but doesn't really say much about how to use it: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/org-netbeans-modules-editor-lib2/architecture-summary.html I can't seem to find any download for the "Netbeans editor library" (1 or 2), and the documentation they provide says to download the entire mercurial repository, which doesn't really help me, since it doesn't tell me what is part of this "library" and what is not. If someone could point me to a download for this library, or some minimal documentation about how to use it, that would be great. I've already seen the blog post here, but it doesn't really help with getting the library, and it seems to be talking about classes which I can't find in the Netbeans sources I downloaded (Maybe a different version?)

• Marshal a list of objects from VB6 to C#

  I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

• WriteableBitmap in .NET 4

  Hi there, I have got a problem: I would like to use a method Render() for WriteableBitmap object. However, as I noticed, the method is not available without using a Silverlight assembly System.Windows.dll. I need to use RenderTargetBitmap in my project (PresentationCore assembly for standard .net). Here is the problem - there are definitions of some classes in both assemblies, thus they are in conflict. Basically, I need to add some stuff to Bgra32 bitmap. However, RenderTargetBitmap works only with Pbgra32 ones. I found that using WriteableBitmap to render would be nice. Maybe I am wrong? Do you have any ideas? Thank you in advance for the reply! • How do I use SimpleRepository without the migration approach?

  I am evaluating SubSonic for use in Phase 2 of a large project. This is an ASP.NET project, with 700 tables in a SQL Server database. We are planning for our domain model to consist of POCO classes to assist with an offline access requirements we have. I believe that the SimpleRepository pattern would be among my best options. Since I have a database already, however, the migration assistance doesn't help me. Are there T4 templates for SimpleRepository that I just overlooked? How do I 'turn off' migration? If I missed something in the Wiki, point me there, otherwise get me started and I'll write up a Wiki entry for y'all when we get there.

  I'm starting out with classes in Javascript and have hit a wall. I've looked all over for a tutorial that goes a little further than simply how to construct a class (usually Animal) then extend the class and have a Method do something (Dog alert('Bark');). I have created a class that I want a user to be able to instantiate (is that the right word)? For example the first stage in my program is for the user to give the class a name, and then start to populate the various variables in the class. When they've done that they may do it again many times. So if: var className = new MyObject(); How do I dynamically create the name of the new object className and then refer to it later in the code?

  Is there any built in .net Classes to assist in the reduction of boiler plate code? I have numerous database operations going on and I find that I am reproducing the connection, command, transaction and occassianlly data set. I am aware of the Java Related Question, however, the solutions pertain to Java. • XSD NewDataSet Namespace?

  I'm running XSD on an XML file and getting something strange. Depending on the depth of elements it produces a 'NewDataSet' element which will then is prefixed in Visual Studio to my auto-generated classes which is something I don't want. I've got quite a complex structure and am just trying to add a simple version element or attribute which is causing the problem. The simplest demo I could come up with is this. <A> <B>Text</B> </A> Running this through XSD says there is an element called 'NewDataSet' which may or may not appear and will prefix namespaces. <A> <B> <C>Text</C> </B> </A> This example works as expected and there is no magic 'NewDataSet' element in the generated XSD file.

  I would like to use the new concurrent collections in .NET 4.0 to solve the following problem. The basic data structure I want to have is a producer consumer queue, there will be a single consumer and multiple producers. There are items of type A,B,C,D,E that will be added to this queue. Items of type A,B,C are added to the queue in the normal manner and processed in order. However items of type D or E can only exist in the queue zero or once. If one of these is to be added and there already exists another of the same type that has not yet been processed then this should update that other one in-place in the queue. The queue position would not change (i.e. would not go to the back of the queue) after the update. Which .NET 4.0 classes would be best for this?

  Hi everyone! I need to translate colors in bitmap loaded to BufferedImage from RGB to YCbCr (luminance and 2 channels chrominance) and back after process. I made it with functions used like rgb2ycbcr() in main method for each pixel, but it isn't so smart solution. I should use ColorSpace and ColorModel classes to get BufferedImage with correct color space. It would be more flexible method, but I don't know how to do that. I'm lost and I need some tips. Can somebody help me?

• Why doesn't Maven's mvn clean ever work the first time?

  Nine times out of ten when I run mvn clean on my projects I experience a build error. I have to execute mvn clean multiple times until the build error goes away. Does anyone else experience this? Is there any way to fix this within Maven? If not, how do you get around it? I wrote a bat file that deletes the target folders and that works well, but it's not practical when you are working on multiple projects. I am using Maven 2.2.1.   Hello! I write a simple OLAP viewer for my web-site. Here are the classes (abstract example): Employee { ID; Name; Roles[]; //What Employee can do } Order { Price; Employee Manager; Employee Executive; //Maybe wrong english. The person which perform order } Employee can be Manager and Executive in the order at the same time. This means that Employee role is not fixed. I have to group orders by employees and finally get IGrouping with Employee key. So .GroupBy(el=new {el.Manager,el.Executive}) is not allowed. I considered some tricks with IEqualityComparable, but found no solution. If somrbody will help I'll be vary glad, thank you.

• Auto generate SWF in Flex SDK

  I'm building my first website with AS3, and I'm using Flash Builder 4 to create/edit my AS classes. I have two .fla files (preloader.fla and portfolio.fla) which I both published as .swc and loaded them into my ActionScript project in FB4 (build path). When I hit debug, FB4 automatically generates a .SWF in bin-debug folder called Preloader.swf, but in my Preloader.as I have new URLRequest("Portfolio.swf"); and this Portfolio.swf isn't being generated by itself. Now the real question; how can I tell FB4 to automatically create both .SWF files for me? Or isn't that possible, any workaround then? Thanks.

• Entity framework (1): implement 1 foreign key to multiple tables

  Hi, i've modeled this: i have an import table, and an import steps table import 1 .. N importsteps Now i have a table importparams, which hold key/value pairs to register all kind of info about the import or the importsteps. So i have modeled a FK in SqlServer which points to the PK of the import table and to the PK of the importsteps table (the ID's for both the import as the importsteps table are guids, so i can query the importparams with either the id from import or from importsteps and get the right importparams). Makes sense a bit? But how can i model this in the EF? I can see it's a bit hard for the EF to model this, because one realtion can point to multiple classes, but is there a way? The workaround normally is just to get all importparams where FK is the ID, but as you know the FK is not available in the EF version 1. I hope you can help me out, michel

• Static string variable in Objective C on iphone

  Hi, How to create & access static string in iPhone (objective c)? I declare static NSString *str = @"OldValue" in class A. If i assign some value to this in class B as str = @"NewValue". This value persists for all methods in class B. But if I access it in class C (after assignment in B) I am getting it as OldValue. Am I missing something? Should i use extern in other classes?   Hello, This is my messages_en_US.properties file in WEB-INF/classes folder :- Login=Login And then i created messages_fr_FR.properties :- Login=frenchLogin Then in my JSF page i wrote this :- <f:loadBundle basename="messages" var="msg"/> <h:commandButton id="btnLogin" value="#{msg.Login}" actionListener="#{IndexBean.doLogin}"/> I can correctly see the Login text by default. But when i go in firefox and change my default language to fr-fr, my text still remains the same i.e i can't see frenchLogin. I don't have anything in my faces-config.xml What am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance :)
