  • Validating age field

    - by Marcelo
Hi people, I'm trying to validate an age field in a form but I'm having some problem. First I tried to make sure that the field will not be send empty. I don't know JavaScript so I searched some scripts and adapted them to this: function isInteger (s) { var i; if (isEmpty(s)) if (isInteger.arguments.length == 1) return 0; else return (isInteger.arguments[1] == true); for (i = 0; i < s.length; i++) { var c = s.charAt(i); if (!isDigit(c)) return false; } return true; } function isEmpty(s) { return ((s == null) || (s.length == 0)) } function validate_required(field,alerttxt) { with (field) { if (value==null||value=="") { alert(alerttxt);return false; } else { return true; } } } function validate_form(thisform) { with (thisform) { if ((validate_required(age,"Age must be filled out!")==false) || isInteger(age,"Age must be and int number")==false)) {email.focus();return false;} } } //html part <form action="doador.php" onsubmit="return validate_form(this)" method="post"> It's working fine for empty fields, but if I type any letters or characters in age field, it'll be sent and saved a 0 in my database. Can anyone help me? Sorry for any mistake in English, and thanks in anvance for your help.

  • IE7 contentEditable word wrapping

    - by Iker Jimenez
I have the following code: <html> <style type="text/css"> DIV { display:inline; border: solid red 1px; } .editable { background:yellow; } </style> <div class="editable" contentEditable="true"> This is test text. This is test text. This is test text. This is test text. This is test text.Thihis is test text. This is test text.</div> <div class="editable" contentEditable="true"> short </div> <div class="editable" contentEditable="true"> This is test text. This is test text. This is test text.his is test text.Thihis is test text.Thihis is test text.Thihis is test text.Thi </div> And I need IE7 (IE6 not needed and FF3.x works fine) to wrap the text correctly, which it does if I remove the contentEditable="true" from the divs. Just try this code with and without contentEditable and you'll see what I mean. Make the browser window small enough so you see how the text wraps. Thanks.

  • Hiding <option>s in IE

    - by Mark
I wrote this nifty function to filter select boxes when their value is changed... $.fn.cascade = function() { var opts = this.children('option'); var rel = this.attr('rel'); $('[name='+rel+']').change(function() { var val = $(this).val(); var disp = opts.filter('[rel='+val+']'); opts.filter(':visible').hide(); disp.show(); if(!disp.filter(':selected').length) { disp.filter(':first').attr('selected','selected'); } }).trigger('change'); return this; } It looks at the rel property, and if the element indicated by rel changes, then it filters the list to only show the options that have that value... for example, it works on HTML that looks like this: <select id="id-pickup_address-country" name="pickup_address-country"> <option selected="selected" value="CA">Canada </option> <option value="US">United States </option> </select> <select id="id-pickup_address-province" rel="pickup_address-country" name="pickup_address-province"> <option rel="CA" value="AB">Alberta </option> <option selected="selected" rel="CA" value="BC">British Columbia </option> <option rel="CA" value="MB">Manitoba </option>... </select> However, I just discovered it doesn't work properly in IE (of course!) which doesn't seem to allow you to hide options. How can I work around this?

  • Is it bad use "display: table;" to organise a layout into 2 columns?

    - by Colen
Hello, I am trying to make a 2 column layout, apparently the bane of CSS. I know you shouldn't use tables for layout, but I've settled on this CSS. Note the use of display: table etc. div.container { width: 600px; height: 300px; margin: auto; display: table; table-layout: fixed; } ul { white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; display: table-cell; width: 40%; } div.inner { display: table-cell; width: auto; } With this layout: <div class="container"> <ul> <li>First</li> <li>Second</li> <li>Third</li> </ul> <div class="inner"> <p>Hello world</p> </div> </div> This seems to work admirably. However, I can't help wondering - am I obeying the letter of the "don't use tables" rule, but not the spirit? I think it's ok, since there's no positioning markup in the HTML code, but I'm just not sure about the "right" way to do it. I can't use css float, because I want the columns to expand and contract with the available space. Please, stack overflow, help me resolve my existential sense of dread at these pseudo-tables.

  • vertical align of some inline-block divs with different content

    - by Jan Möller
i want to center some inline-block divs. I want to create a responsive design, so if the screen size is too small, the horizontal elements should be under each other. How can i center them vertical, so they are side by side without a difference in height? (See fiddle). Moveover those elements should be verticaly centered, if the screen size is too small. http://jsfiddle.net/5dpRs/52/ CSS .repeat { display:inline-block; border-style:solid; border-width:2px; height:50px; width:50px; } #content { border-style:solid; border-width:2px; text-align:center; } HTML <div id="content"> <div class="repeat"> <p>hello</p> </div> <div class="repeat"> </div> </div> Thank you :)

  • Why my Ldirectord check multiple times on read server every interval?

    - by garconcn
    I have a Ldirectord server and two real servers. My ldirectord used to check the request page on real server once in every interval, but now I found that it check four times. I have monitored the log on both real servers, they have the same problem. Here is my ldirectord configuration: checktimeout=10 checkinterval=5 autoreload=yes logfile="/var/log/ldirectord.log" quiescent=no virtual=192.168.1.100:80 fallback=127.0.0.1:80 real=192.168.1.10:80 gate real=192.168.1.20:80 gate service=http request="lb.html" receive="still alive" scheduler=sh persistent=60 protocol=tcp checktype=negotiate Ldirectord will connect to each real server once every 5 seconds (checkinterval) and request 192.168.0.10:80/test.html (real/request). The access log in real server: 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:44 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:44 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:44 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:44 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:49 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:49 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:49 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:49 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:54 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:54 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:54 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805" 192.168.1.100 - - [13/Jun/2012:10:36:54 -0700] "GET /lb.html HTTP/1.1" 200 12 "-" "libwww-perl/5.805"

  • How to force a DIV block to extend to the bottom of a page, even if it has no content?

    - by Sir Psycho
    Hi, I'm trying to get the content div to stretch all the way to the bottom of the page but so far, its only stretching if theres actual content to display. The reason I want to do this is so if there isn't much content to display, the vertical border still goes all the way down. Here is my code <body> <form id="form1"> <div id="header"> <a title="Home" href="index.html" /> </div> <div id="menuwrapper"> <div id="menu"> </div> </div> <div id="content"> </div> and my CSS body { font-family: Trebuchet MS, Verdana, MS Sans Serif; font-size:0.9em; margin:0; padding:0; } div#header { width: 100%; height: 100px; } #header a { background-position: 100px 30px; background: transparent url(site-style-images/sitelogo.jpg) no-repeat fixed 100px 30px; height: 80px; display: block; } #header, #menuwrapper { background-repeat: repeat; background-image: url(site-style-images/darkblue_background_color.jpg); } #menu #menuwrapper { height:25px; } div#menuwrapper { width:100% } #menu, #content { width:1024px; margin: 0 auto; } div#menu { height: 25px; background-color:#50657a; } Thanks for taking a looksi

  • Source code versioning with comments (organizational practice) - leave or remove?

    - by ADTC
Before you start admonishing me with "DON'T DO IT," "BAD PRACTICE!" and "Learn to use proper source code control", please hear me out first. I am fully aware that the practice of commenting out old code and leaving it there forever is very bad and I hate such practice myself. But here's the situation I'm in. A few months ago I joined a company as software developer. I had worked in the company for few months as an intern, about a year before joining recently. Our company uses source code version control (CVS) but not properly. Here's what happened both in my internship and my current permanent position. Each time I was assigned to work on a project (legacy, about 8-10 years old). Instead of creating a CVS account and letting me check out code and check in changes, a senior colleague exported the code from CVS, zipped it up and passed it to me. While this colleague checks in all changes in bulk every few weeks, our usual practice is to do fine-grained versioning in the actual source code itself (each file increments in versions independent from the rest). Whenever a change is made to a file, old code is commented out, new code entered below it, and this whole section is marked with a version number. Finally a note about the changes is placed at the top of the file in a section called Modification History. Finally the changed files are placed in a shared folder, ready and waiting for the bulk check-in. /* * Copyright notice blah blah * Some details about file (project name, file name etc) * Modification History: * Date Version Modified By Description * 2012-10-15 1.0 Joey Initial creation * 2012-10-22 1.1 Chandler Replaced old code with new code */ code .... //v1.1 start //old code new code //v1.1 end code .... Now the problem is this. In the project I'm working on, I needed to copy some new source code files from another project (new in the sense that they didn't exist in destination project before). These files have a lot of historical commented out code and comment-based versioning including usually long or very long Modification History section. Since the files are new to this project I decided to clean them up and remove unnecessary code including historical code, and start fresh at version 1.0. (I still have to continue the practice of comment-based versioning despite hating it. And don't ask why not start at version 0.1...) I have done similar something during my internship and no one said anything. My supervisor has seen the work a few times and didn't say I shouldn't do such clean-up (if at all it was noticed). But a same-level colleague saw this and said it's not recommended as it may cause downtime in the future and increase maintenance costs. An example is when changes are made in another project on the original files and these changes need to be propagated to this project. With code files drastically different, it could cause confusion to an employee doing the propagation. It makes sense to me, and is a valid point. I couldn't find any reason to do my clean-up other than the inconvenience of a ridiculously messy code. So, long story short: Given the practice in our company, should I not do such clean-up when copying new files from project to project? Is it better to make changes on the (copy of) original code with full history in comments? Or what justification can I give for doing the clean-up? PS to mods: Hope you allow this question some time even if for any reason you determine it to be unfit in SO. I apologize in advance if anything is inappropriate including tags.

  • Image appearing in the wrong place.

    - by Luke
I have a list that I want to precede on each line with a small image. The CSS: .left div.arrow{background-image: url(../images/design/box.png); float:left; height:15px; width:15px; margin-right:2px;} .left a.list:link, a:visited, a:active {color:black; font-size:0.8em; text-decoration:none; display:block; float:left;} The HTML: <div class="panel">My quick links</div> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/messages.php?p=new" class="list">Send a new message</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#password" class="list">Change my password</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#picture" class="list">Upload a new site image</a> <br /> As you can see, each image should go before the writing. On the first line, the text "Send a new message" has the preceeding image. However, each line afterwards has the image at the end. So "Send a new message" has an image at the start and finish. It is like the images are staying at the end of the previous line. Any ideas?

  • Div on top of Div using z-index.

    - by Iacks
I have the following divs in my HTML: <div class="main"> <div class="bgimage"></div> <div class="content">Text</div> which is directly inside my body. With the following CSS: .content{filter:alpha(opacity=50);-moz-opacity: 0.5;opacity: 0.5;} .content{position:relative;z-index:1;border:#000 thin solid;width:960px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;background-color:#000;} .bgimage{position:absolute;z-index:-1;width:1024px;height:768px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;background-image:url(bg1.jpg);} Basically, I have a Div that with a display of a background image, and I will have another Div on top of this with transparency. This current code works, but my problem is when I am trying to take the content div down from the top. When I add margin-top:100px, for example, is also brings the image down. I thought it would not touch it if it is not on the same z-index? Why does adding a margin also force the bgimage div down? I have also tried making the div with class of content a position of absolute and a zindex, but then this won't centre. How should I solve this?

  • How to make the value of one select box drive the options of a second select box

    - by Ben McCormack
I want to make an HTML form with 2 select boxes. The selected option in the first select box should drive the options in the second select box. I would like to solve this dynamically on the client (using javascript or jQuery) rather than having to submit data to the server. For example, let's say I have the following Menu Categories and Menu Items: Sandwiches Turkey Ham Bacon Sides Mac 'n Cheese Mashed Potatoes Drinks Coca Cola Sprite Sweetwater 420 I would have two select boxes, named Menu Category and Items, respectively. When the user selects Sandwiches in the Menu Category box, the options in the Items box will only show Sandwich options. I'm stuck as how I might approach this. Once I filter out the 2nd list one time, how do I "find" the list options once I change my menu category in the 1st list? Also, if I'm thinking in SQL, I would have a key in the 1st box that would be used to link to the data in the 2nd box. However, I can't see where I have room for a "key" element in the 2nd box. How could this problem be solved with a combination of jQuery or plain javascript?

  • JQuery set img src depending on where you click

    - by Anna
Hello ! I used javascript for loading a picture on my website depending on which "small" photos in ul you clicked... I had something like that : <script type="text/javascript"> function viewImage(src, legende) { document.getElementById("imageBig").src = "images/photos/"+src; document.getElementById("legend").innerHTML = legende; } </script> and in html simply : things like that : <li><a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('flute.jpg','La Reine de la Nuit au Comedia')"><img src="images/photos/carre-09.jpg" alt="" /></a> <a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('perichole.jpg','Manuelita - <em>La P&eacute;richole</em> &agrave; l&#8217;Op&eacute;ra Comique')"><img src="images/photos/carre-03.jpg" alt="" /></a></li> <li><a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('12.png','R&eacute;cital &agrave; Carnac, septembre 2008')"><img src="images/photos/carre-12.jpg" alt="Marion Baglan Carnac R&eacute;" /></a> <a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('01.jpg','')"><img src="images/photos/carre-01.jpg" alt="" /></a></li> so you see, I could, depending on which small photos in the unordered list you clicked, load some particular photos, by passing the src string in argument... but I decided to use Jquery to get some fade-in effect. But I can't find a way to pass an argument that would tell my JQuery function which photo to load depending on where I clicked... stuck here : $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ulPhotos').click(function() { var newSrc= $('#imageBig').attr("src", "images/photos/11.jpg"); }); }); I don't want the 11.jpg to be hardcoded, I need to pass it through argument when I click on a special li element in my ul element of id #ulPhotos... I hope I'm clear enough sorry !

  • Have to click twice to submit the form in IE8

    - by phil
A very peculiar bug in a simple html form. After changing an option, button has to be clicked twice to submit the form. Button is focused after clicking once, but form is not submitted. It's only this way in IE8 and works fine in Chrome and FF. PAY ATTENTION TO 'g^' right before <select>. It has to be a letter or number followed by a symbol to generate this bug. For example, 'a#','f$','3(' all create the same bug. Otherwise it works fine. BTW, if you don't change option and click button right away, there won't be any bug. Very strange, huh? <form method="post" action="match.php"> g^ <select> <option>Select</option> <option>English</option> <option>French</option> </select> <input type="submit" value="Go" /> </form>

  • css layout - break down

    - by Luke
    So I am trying to get the effect of having two frames inside a 750px wide frame. .news {width: 750px;} .news1 {width:550px;} .news2 {width:200px;} Very simple css at this stage. The html/php: <div class="news"> <div class="format"><a href='newspiece.php?news=<?echo $id?>'><?echo "$subject\n";?></a></div> <div class="news1"> <? echo "<div class='content'>"; echo nl2br($comment); echo "<a href='newspiece.php?news=$id'>..[read more]..</a>\n"; echo "</div>"; ?> <h5><? echo "Posted by <a href=\"userprofile.php?user=$posted\">$posted</a> on $final_date\n";?></h5> <? echo "<br />\n";?> </div> <div class="news2"> <img src="images/news/<? echo $id?>.jpg" /> </div> </div>] THe problem I am getting is that the image that should be on the right is going underneath. So in effect, news1 is above news2, rather than side by side. Any ideas?

  • Why is the colspan not working properly in this script? js bug or IE ?

    - by Perpetualcoder
This question is related to this question I asked a little while back. The updated code is posted here. This to note is that i am looking to create a HTML table dynamically that looks similar to this: <table> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Col1</td> <td>Col3</td> <td>Col4</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Col1</td> <td>Col3</td> <td>Col4</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> I can get this done in markup but when I do it in js the colspan does not seem to work in IE7. Any hep will be greatly appreciated.

  • IE8 claims my page has an error, firefox doesn't, and I can't find any error. Help!

    - by Bears will eat you
This is something of a follow-up question to my question here. You can find the HTML source in a text file here. When I load that page in IE8, I get the "Done, but with errors on page." message in my status bar. The detail view shows Expected identifier sms Line: 147 Code: 0 Char: 67 and I see absolutely no problems anywhere near there. In IE8, the page is still behaving erratically w/r/t the randomly losing focus as mentioned in my other question. When I load the same exact page in Firefox (using Firebug) the console shows no errors and the page works perfectly. Any thoughts on what's going on here? This is driving me nuts and making me want to give up on even trying to write an IE friendly page. Edit: Thanks for all the comments! This page is written as a JSP, so I edit in Eclipse. I found an Eclipse warning about the onblur event for the username field. I switched it from onblur="alert(document.activeElement + ' class:' + document.activeElement.class)" to onblur="alert(document.activeElement)" and that made the bizarre IE page error vanish. I had been trying to give more info (namely, its CSS class) about specifically which element is stealing focus - to my own detriment, apparently, since Javascript was interpreting the '.class' part in the Java(script) sense. And, no, the page doesn't validate. But the errors were mostly/all ones that just didn't make sense, such as Line 14, Column 41: Attribute "LANGUAGE" is not a valid attribute. Did you mean "language"? to which I say, WTF?! But I'm still stuck trying to figure out why, as I enter text in the username & password fields, focus randomly switches to a div (working on figuring out which div currently). Edit 2: It's the div between the two "global nav" comments, at the very top of the body. Still no idea why it's happening, though.

  • Trying to replace contents of a Div, with no luck

    - by bluedaniel
Ive tried to use the Dom model with no bloody luck, getElementByID just doesnt work for me. I loathe to resort to a regex but not sure what else to do. The idea is to replace a <div id="content_div"> all sorts </div> with a new <div id="content_div"> NEW ALL SORTS HERE </div> and keep anything that was before or after it in the string. The string is a partial HTML string and more specifically out of the wordpress Posts DB. Any ideas? UPDATE: I tagged this question PHP but probably should of mentioned Im looking for a PHP solution only. Update: Code Example $content = ($wpdb->get_var( "SELECT `post_content` FROM $wpdb->posts WHERE ID = {$article[post_id]}" )); $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->validateOnParse = true; $doc->loadHTMLFile($content); $element = $doc->getElementById('div_to_edit'); So Ive tried a whole lot of code and this is what Ive got so far, probably not right but Ive been hacking at it for a little while now.

  • jquery.append() - only the last element of my list is appended, previous ones are erased

    - by jaes
    Hi, I have a page like this : <div id="daysTable"> <div id="day0" class="day"></div> <div id="day1" class="day"></div> <div id="day2" class="day"></div> <div id="day3" class="day"></div> <div id="day4" class="day"></div> <div id="day5" class="day"></div> <div id="day6" class="day"></div> </div> and some javascript to fill my calendar like this function getWeek(){ $.getJSON("/getWeek",function(events){ var eventHeight = $("#hoursTable > div").height(); var eventWidth = $("#daysTable > div").width(); var startWeek = events[0]// timestamp of the start of the week for(var i = 1; i < events.length; i ++){ $(".day").empty(); var startHour = (events[i].startDate - startWeek)/3600 var duration = (events[i].stopDate - startWeek)/3600 - startHour var dayStart = Math.floor(startHour/24); var startHour = startHour - dayStart * 24 divEvent = $('<div id="event'+events[i].idEvent+'"/>') .width(eventWidth-2) .height(duration*eventHeight) .css("border","1px solid black") .css("margin-top",startHour*eventHeight) .html(events[i].name); divEvent.appendTo("#day"+dayStart); console.log(divEvent); } }); } my problem being : events contain 3 element I'd like to display but only the last is displayed. If I stop my "for" at the first iteration I can see the first div appended, but it seems that if my loop goes for three iteration the two previous are deleted. The console.log() display some "not-anymore" existing element. Any idea ?

So my code goes like this: <h3><a href="#">Test </a></h3> <div class="accordion" style="background-color:yellow;"> <div class="test_1"> my first dynamic content div </div> <div class="test_2"> my second dynamic content div </div> </div> So you see the H3 that's the 'accordian', if i click on that the div accordion opens with inside 2 seperate divs. That all works but the positioning of my 2 divs inside the accordion div fails. I should like to get them UNDER eachother, but both divs got generated dynamically what means that i don't know the size of the first div (test_1) so i can't position on pixels. I already tried with some br tags etc but nothing seems to work. Is there a way to do this in css maybe with float or something or should it be done inside the html ? ANy other ideas? Regards, T

  • Can not make the settings from the sidebar gadget get applied

    - by Daniel
    Hey guys, OK, I am not an expert at Sidebar Gadgets, but I have this project I will have to make for school. Have tried to solve it on my own but I got really stuck. I will have to use the Cirip API (Cirip.ro being a kind of Twitter), and for the use of the API I have to input the username. I do so by means of the Settings, but when closing the settings there is no effect. Here is the code, but it's pretty messy. I am not a web programmer so javascript/html is new to me. http://www.box.net/shared/7yogevhzrr Thank you for your remark, Andy. From gadget.js function setUserName(userNameSet){ userName = userNameSet; } function getUserName(){ return userName; } function settingsClosed(event) { if(event.closeAction == event.Action.commit) { var user = System.Gadget.Settings.read("userName"); if(user != "") { setUserName(user); } } From settings.js document.onreadystatechange = function DoInit() { if(document.readyState=="complete") { var user = System.Gadget.Settings.read("userName"); if(user != "") { userBox.value = user; } } } // -------------------------------------------------------------------- // Handle the Settings dialog closed event. // event = System.Gadget.Settings.ClosingEvent argument. // -------------------------------------------------------------------- System.Gadget.onSettingsClosing = function(event) { if (event.closeAction == event.Action.commit) { var user = userBox.value; if(user != "") { System.Gadget.Settings.write("userName", user); } event.cancel = false; } }

  • How do I include a frameset under CGI.pm?

    - by neversaint
    I want to have a cgi-script that does two things. Take the input from a form. Generate results base on the input values on a frame. I also want the frame to exist only after the result is generated/printed. Below is the simplified code of what I want to do. But somehow it doesn't work. What's the right way to do it? #!/usr/local/bin/perl use CGI ':standard'; print header; print start_html('A Simple Example'), h1('A Simple Example'), start_form, "What's your name? ",textfield('name'), p, "What's the combination?", p, checkbox_group(-name=>'words', -values=>['eenie','meenie','minie','moe'], -defaults=>['eenie','minie']), p, "What's your favorite color? ", popup_menu(-name=>'color', -values=>['red','green','blue','chartreuse']), p, submit, end_form, hr; if (param()) { # begin create the frame print <<EOF; <html><head><title>$TITLE</title></head> <frameset rows="10,90"> <frame src="$script_name/query" name="query"> <frame src="$script_name/response" name="response"> </frameset> EOF # Finish creating frame print "Your name is: ",em(param('name')), p, "The keywords are: ",em(join(", ",param('words'))), p, "Your favorite color is: ",em(param('color')), hr; } print end_html;

  • How to make parts of a div element resize automatically?

    - by vladimir
I'm trying to create a small html fragment (a div element) consisted of three parts: a label, textbox, and a button. Within that div element the label would be on the left (autosized), the button would be on the right (again, autosized) and the textbox should take up all remaining space within the parent div element. This is what I've tried (assuming I want my div to be 400 pixels wide): <div style="width:400px"> <div style="float: left">Label</div> <input style="width:100%"> <!-- doesn't work --> <button type='button' style='float: right'>Click</button> </div> The trouble is, my textbox does not get resized automatically. Add 'width=100%' to the textbox doesn't work. What would be the way to make it take up all remaining space between the label and the button? Ideally it should be done just by applying some styles, not by introducing new elements. (I guess the issue isn't related only to div element, but that just happens to be my work scenario.)

  • Does anchor href of an image make it download?

    - by matthewsteiner
So I was using yslow for firefox and my page weight was way high. My page has a main product image and then maybe 10 thumbnails. If you click a thumbnail, the image opens up in a popup done through jquery. The problem is, yslow is listing even the targets of the thumbnails as part of the page weight, so I guess for some reason the images are downloading. For example, I have: <a class="group nyroModal" rel="lightbox-group" href="/upload/topview.jpg"> <img alt="thumbnail" src="/upload/thumb/t_topview.jpg" /> </a> Would this normal html cause the "upload/topview.jpg" to automatically download? Or is it the jquery plugin "nyroModal"? I'd rather the images didn't preload, that'd waste a lot of bandwidth. So my question is, does a browser automatically try to download image files that are in the href property of anchors, or is the plugin most likely causing this? Thanks for any direction you can give me.
