    I have a bunch of images that are guaranteed to have: minimum width = 200px maximum width = 250px minimum height = 150px maximum height = 175px What I want to do is display a consist 200px by 150px rectangle of the image while maintaining scale (no stretching or shrinking). Which means, I might have some overflow. How can I display the image so that it keeps porpotions to the original image size, yet displayed inside a 200x150 px window and hiding any overflow?

  • Problems with textarea focus

    My textarea is behaving very strange, when I click inside it .. the cursor appears there when I click, if I click on the middle of the textarea it appears there, and I'd like it to appear on the beginning wherever I click inside, like here on SO when asking question, wherever you click inside textarea it takes your cursor to the topmost left. What can I do to fix this?

    I have an embed window media player which is always on top of other DIV tags. I used wmode = opaque; WindowlessVideo = -1 but it does not help.     Here's a weird one. I'm developing a responsive site here: http://74.209.178.54:3000/index.html There are three pages built so far: the home page, the "Why" page, and the "Pricing" page. The Home and Why pages are just fine on my iPhone 4. The "Pricing" page is really blurry. And I don't just mean the images are blurry - absolutely everything is blurry: text, borders, backgrounds... Has anyone seen this before? Do you know what's happening?

  • how to hightlight a div if the page.isvalid=false.

    I wanna high light particular div when the page.isvalid=false. on the pageload i am able to get display the error message. But the issue is that i am not able to highlight the control which is required. I have a js function which sets the error class to the div. Its working fine when i click on a button.     Hello I've a doubt. Lets consider that we have a div of width 200px. If i add the following the style style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:10px" to the element what happens actually? Will the total width of the div increases to 220px with 10px at the left (for left padding), original width 200px at the middle and 10px at the right (for right padding)? Or will it takes the padding space from the 200px and becomes (10px + 180px + 10px)? Does the above rendering differs for each browser (especially IE and FF)? Thank you NLV

    'This is bizarre bug. I have CSS3 anchors/buttons, which I've continued to strip properties out of, that sometimes require multiple clicks to fire.     I'm looking for a simple light-weight jquery plugin that'll help me show something like this in my website: Essentially, this is like a timeline. I know the start and end dates (in that, they don't change) and the position of today's date just gives an indication of how far along I am into a task I took up on Jun 1, 2012. That's all I need it for - a better visual indication of my current status. I've found a lot of jquery timeline plugins but they are too complex for what I'm trying to do. Any ideas or suggestions?     I'm displaying 3 <img> in a row like this: <div style="width: 950px"> <img src='/UploadedImages/86.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/85.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/84.gif' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> </div> As you can see I have thin black borders around the images. My problem is that there are white spaces about 5px wide between the borders of neighbouring images and I have set the margin to be 0px but it does not work. So what is happening here?

  • horizontal align in a div

    I have a box like this: <div id="selectBox"> Select: <select> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> </select> </div> How do i get them aligned so that they are horizontal in the middle of each other, the baseline of the "Select" text and the content of the select box ("1").(and not the box itself). I can solv this by wrapping a table around them and make two cells but i feel that method is very crude.

  • Phantom horizontal scroll bars on the whole window in IE.

    I'm working on a website layout you can find at dev.movingcost.com In most browsers, everything seems fine... but I'm getting a horizontal scroll bar on the window when viewing the page in IE. I'm using a fixed width of 960px with auto margins to center the content. I've even tried using "overflow-x:hidden" on the html and body tags to no avail... any clue where the problem is?

  • ModalPopupExtender doesn't work on IE6 frame layout

    I'm using a "frame" layout similar to the one in this excellent answer: a div #top at the top of the page, a div#left on the left, and a div #main with the main content. The #top and #left divs contain navigation menus. Now I want to use a popup div using the AjaxControlToolkit ModalPopupExtender inside the content (#main) div. This works fine on IE8 (where #top, #left, #main all have position:fixed), but when I run it on IE6, the modal background only covers the #main div - I need it to cover the whole of the page including the #top and #left navigation divs. Looking at the script for ModalPopupExtender, it appears to be searching up the parent hierarchy until it finds a parent with position relative or absolute. And in the IE6 rendering, the #main div has position:absolute because position:fixed is not supported, which I guess explains what is happening. Any suggestions for the best/easiest way to get this working properly on IE6? Ideally without modifying the ModalPopupExtender code, but I'll do this if I have to and it's the best solution.
