  • iphone best practice, how to load multiple high quality images

    Hi guys and girls, I have about 20-ish high quality images (~3840x5800 px) that I need to load in a simple gallery type app. The user clicks a button and the next image is loaded into the UIImageView. I currently use [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:] which takes about 6 seconds to load each image in the simulator :( if I use [UIImage imageNamed:] it takes even longer to load but caches the images which means its quicker if the user wishes to see the same images again. But it may cause memory problems later with all that caching crashing my app. I want to know whats the best practice for loading these? I'm experimenting with reducing image file size as much as is possible but I really need them to be high quality image for the purpose of the app (zoomable, etc.). Thanks for any advice

    I have a reasonably complex query to extract the Id field of the results I am interested in based on parameters entered by the user. After extracting the relevant Ids I am using the resulting set of Ids several times, in separate queries, to extract the actual output record sets I want (by joining to other tables, using aggregate functions, etc). I would like to avoid running the initial query separately for every set of results I want to return. I imagine my situation is a common pattern so I am interested in what the best approach is. The database is in MS SQL Server and I am using .NET 3.5.

    Hello there. Please, give me advice, how to construct select query. I have table table with fields type and obj_id. I want to select all records in concordance with next array: $arr = array( 0 => array('type' => 1, 'obj_id' => 5), 1 => array('type' => 3, 'obj_id' => 15), 2 => array('type' => 4, 'obj_id' => 14), 3 => array('type' => 12, 'obj_id' => 17), ); I want to select needed rows by one query, is it real? Smth like select * from `table` where type in (1,3,4,12) and obj_id in (5,15,14,17) But this query returns also records with type = 3 and obj_id = 14, and for example type = 1 and obj_id = 17. p.s. moderators, please fix my title, I dont know how to describe my question.

    How could I make this kind of query e.g. in MySQL SELECT * FROM Table t WHERE t.a IN (1,2,3) AND t.b IN (4,5,6) AND t.c IN (7,8,9) ... so that the result would contain only the three rows: t.a|t.b|t.c ---+---+--- 1 | 4 | 7 2 | 5 | 8 3 | 6 | 9 The above query of course returns all the combinations of the values in the IN clauses but I would like to get just the ones where the first elements of each tuple match, second elements of each tuple match and so on. Is there any efficient way to do this? By the way is there some common term for this kind of query or concept? I'm having hard time coming up with the question's title because I can't put this into words..

  • MSSQL Server using multiple ID Numbers

    I have an web application that creates printable forms, these forms have a unique number on them, the problem is I have 2 forms that separate numbers need to be created for them. ie) Form1- Numbered 2000000-2999999 Form2- Numbered 3000000-3999999 dbo.test2 - is my form information table Tsel - is my autoinc table for the 3000000 series numbers Tadv - is my autoinc table for the 2000000 series numbers What I have done is create 2 tables with just autoinc row (one for 2000000 series numbers and one for 3000000 series numbers), I then created a trigger to add a record to the coresponding table, read back the autoinc number and add it to my table that stores the form information including the just created autoinc number for the right series of forms. Although it does work, I'm concerned that the numbers will get messed up under load. I'm not sure the @@IDENTITY will always return the right value when many people are using the system. (I cannot have duplicates and I need to use the numbering form show above.   • Finding the most similar numbers across multiple lists in Python

    In Python, I have 3 lists of floating-point numbers (angles), in the range 0-360, and the lists are not the same length. I need to find the triplet (with 1 number from each list) in which the numbers are the closest. (It's highly unlikely that any of the numbers will be identical, since this is real-world data.) I was thinking of using a simple lowest-standard-deviation method to measure agreement, but I'm not sure of a good way to implement this. I could loop through each list, comparing the standard deviation of every possible combination using nested for loops, and have a temporary variable save the indices of the triplet that agrees the best, but I was wondering if anyone had a better or more elegant way to do something like this. Extract all the dataelemId rows from dataelem table where applicationID of dataset table is equal to 1044 and biztermid shud be null. Then whatever resultant dataelemIDs from the above query should be matched with outputdataelemID of Transformdataelem table and we shud get the respective input dataelemId's. Again with these matched inputdataelemID's we shud get the dataelemname's from datelem table.

  • Loading jQuery multiple times in the same page

    I'm implementing a plug-in that's embeddable in different sites (a la Meebo, Wibiya), and I want to use jQuery. Problem is, the site I'm embedding to, may already have a jQuery script loaded. The question is, what's the best approach for this kind of problem: Should I just check if jQuery is already loaded and if so, use the original site's jQuery, otherwise load it myself? If I use this approach, am I not risking comaptibility problems (i.e. the site uses an old version of jQuery)? Should I load jQuery myself (whether it's already loaded or not) and call "jQuery.noConflict(true)" when it's finished loading? If so, how can I make sure that my jQuery has finished loading (hooking to the onLoad event doesn't seem to work all the time, and polling for "jQuery" won't work for obvious reasons)? Should I do something else? Thanks.

    I have an index.php file that has 3 includes <?php require_once('mod.php'); $mod = new Mod(); require_once('start.php'); require_once('tools.php'); ....some code.... ?> I need to be able to reference the $mod object inside the start.php and tools.php. How do I pass that object to be referenced by those 2 other require files? Basically the mod.php is a class that has an array list generated in its __construct(). I want to use that array list data inside the startup.php and tools.php file but not sure how to pass in the existing one without calling "new" inside both of those files separately which doesn't do what I need since it resets everything.     I have a 2D numpy array of shape (N,2) which is holding N points (x and y coordinates). For example: array([[3, 2], [6, 2], [3, 6], [3, 4], [5, 3]]) I'd like to sort it such that my points are ordered by x-coordinate, and then by y in cases where the x coordinate is the same. So the array above should look like this: array([[3, 2], [3, 4], [3, 6], [5, 3], [6, 2]]) If this was a normal Python list, I would simply define a comparator to do what I want, but as far as I can tell, numpy's sort function doesn't accept user-defined comparators. Any ideas?

    Thanks to some great folks on SO, I discovered the possibilities offered by collections.defaultdict, notably in readability and speed. I have put them to use with success. Now I would like to implement three levels of dictionaries, the two top ones being defaultdict and the lowest one being int. I don't find the appropriate way to do this. Here is my attempt: from collections import defaultdict d = defaultdict(defaultdict) a = [("key1", {"a1":22, "a2":33}), ("key2", {"a1":32, "a2":55}), ("key3", {"a1":43, "a2":44})] for i in a: d[i[0]] = i[1] Now this works, but the following, which is the desired behavior, doesn't: d["key4"]["a1"] + 1 I suspect that I should have declared somewhere that the second level defaultdict is of type int, but I didn't find where or how to do so. The reason I am using defaultdict in the first place is to avoid having to initialize the dictionary for each new key. Any more elegant suggestion? Thanks pythoneers!

  • Calling multiple functions simultaneously with jquery.

    I want to loop through an object that contains functions which will execute one after another. My most ideal approach would be to have these chain somehow (ie. func2 waits for func1 and func3 waits for func2) but this needs to happen dynamically and the functions will all have different durations. I'm using jQuery so I thought that perhaps "queue()" may help but I haven't worked with it much. A main concern is to not add any scope/callbacks to the functions within the object. I'd rather somehow enclose them within a parent function to execute within the loop in order to create the callback/chaining. Here's an example of what I've got now, but dumbed down.     I need to select records say 2000 from a table with a matching timestamp from c# .net code. Eg: SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME='Item1' and TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' The above query has to execute for 2000 items more for the same timestamp. for this we can use SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME in ('Item1','Item2','Item3','Item4',......) AND TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' from SQL Server Management Studio. I have tried appending all Item names to one string variable and giving it as a parameter to the stored procedure,but it resulted into a wrong concatenation. How can I do this as a stored procedure executing from the .net code? Can anyone suggest me/correct me in doing this? Thanks & Regards Padma

    For my ASP.NET MVC application I've created custom validation attribute, and indicated that more than one instance of it can be specified for a single field or property: [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Field | AttributeTargets.Property, AllowMultiple = true)] public sealed class SomeAttribute: ValidationAttribute I've created validator for such an attribute: public class SomeValidator : DataAnnotationsModelValidator<SomeAttribute> and wire up this in the Application_Start of Global.asax DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider.RegisterAdapter( typeof (SomeAttribute), typeof (SomeValidator)); Finally, if I use my attribute in the desired way: [SomeAttribute(...)] //first [SomeAttribute(...)] //second public string SomeField { get; set; } when validation is executed by the framework, only first attribute instance is invoked. Second one seems to be dead. I've noticed that during each request only single validator instance is created (for the first annotation). How to solve this problem and fire all attributes?

How can I get this data to show in a query? For example, a query to return this: Query: Query1 Column1 Column2 Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Value 4 Value 4 Value 3 Value 2 Value 1 I'm familiar enough with SQL to do a join with one column, but lost beyond that.
