• Is it better to echo javascript in raw format with php, or echo a script include that has been minif

  Hey guys quick question, I am currently echoing a lot of javascript that is based conditionally on login status and other variables. I was wondering if it would be better to simply echo the script include like <script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/openlogin.js"></script> that has been run through a minifying program and been gzipped or to echo the full script in raw format. The latter suggestion is messier to me but it reduces http requests while the latter would probably be smaller but take more cpu? Just wondering what some other people think. Thanks in advance for any advice.

• How can I include .pdf files when I publish but not in a search and replace in visual studio?

  More specifically my problem is if I include a pdf in my project and set its build action to content so it gets copied to the server when I publish, is there a way to exclude it from visual studios search and replace feature. Would a post build action be a solution to this? I just don't want anybody to do a global search and replace in my project and mess up the pdfs... I know I just said a mouth full so let me know if you need clarification. Thanks!!!

• Qt C++ signals and slots did not fire

  I have programmed Qt a couple of times already and I really like the signals and slots feature. But now, I guess I'm having a problem when a signal is emitted from one thread, the corresponding slot from another thread is not fired. The connection was made in the main program. This is also my first time to use Qt for ROS which uses CMake. The signal fired by the QThread triggered their corresponding slots but the emitted signal of my class UserInput did not trigger the slot in tflistener where it supposed to. I have tried everything I can. Any help? The code is provided below.   Hi All, I'm trying to get a simple code working, unfortunatly im a python beginner. • is it possible to include a binary in my project and use it?

  I have a binary that's used as a command-line tool to manipulate some files - tool.exe. I would like to include this in my Visual Studio 2008 project and use it from my C# code. I have it in a folder called "Resources" which also has some other files my project uses. I would like to do something like Process myproc = Process.Start("Resources/tool.exe"); but I believe C# has an issue with this because it's looking in the file system rather than the project. How can this be done?

Following the tutorial given in haystack site, I have urlpatterns = pattern('', r'^search/', include('haystack.urls')) I found haystack installed in /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/haystack and located urls.py there. It has urlpatterns=patterns('haystack.views', url(r'^$', SearchView(), name='haystack_search'),) I thought the second argument of url() should be callable object. I looked at the views.py and SearchView is a class. What is going on here? What's get called eventually?

• Is there any real advantage to use zend ce server over just referencing (include) the zend framework library?

  Hi, I'm new to PHP frameworks, and currently I'm trying Zend Framework (ZF). I'm old fashioned when it comes to installing software, I like to install apache/mysql/php all separetely since I find easier and it gives me more control of it. It seems that the "encouraged" way to develop with Zend Framework is using the Zend (CE) Server. I personally don't like this idea of a app install everything else (PHP/Apache and so on). From what I've seen if I include Zend Framework Library in php.ini path I'm ready to go. So is there any real advantage to use the Full Zend (CE) Server??

• Is there a way to include commas in CSV columns without breaking the formatting?

  I've got a two column CSV with a name and a number. Some people's name use commas, for example "Joe Blow, CFA." This comma breaks the CSV format, since it's interpreted as a new column. I've read up and the most common prescription seems to be replacing that character, or replacing the delimiter, with a new value (e.g. "this|that|the, other"). I'd really like to keep the comma separator (I know excel supports other delimiters but other interpreters may not). I'd also like to keep the comma in the name, as "Joe Blow| CFA" looks pretty silly. Is there a way to include commas in CSV columns without breaking the formatting, for example by escaping them?

• What is the smallest Windows header I can #include to define DWORD?

  I have a small header file of my own which declares a couple of functions, one of which has a return type of DWORD. I'm reluctant to drag in windows.h just to get the official definition of this type since that file is huge, and my header will be used in a number of source modules that don't otherwise need it. Of course, in practice I know that DWORD is just unsigned int, but I'd prefer the more hygienic approach of including an official header file if possible. On this page it says that DWORD is defined in windef.h, but unfortunately including just this small file directly leads to compilation errors -- apparently it expects to be included by other headers. (Also, the fact that my file is a header file also means I can't just declare WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN, since the source file that #includes my file might need this to be left undefined.) Any ideas? I know it's not the end of the world -- I can just continue to #include <windows.h> -- but thought someone might have a better idea!

  How do I write a mod_rewrite regulare expression rule that is the opposite of this: ^(.+)/path/(page1|page2)+$ ie, I want all pages except blah/path/page1 and blah/path/page2 to redirect to another path, where the x in blah/path/x is used in the new path. For example, I'd like write a rewrite rule like: RewriteRule some_regex /index.php?path/show/$1 [L] where some_regex would pull out the last component of a url in the format: /something/path/some_param to redirect to /index.php/path/show/some_param I'm trying to use ! and [^] syntax, but I don't quite understand how these work, especially when they involve words not single characters.

Or the book with the most pages? I know, that I could include or join all books. But I don't know if its possible to load only a specific book for each author. • Why doesn't the Java Collections API include a Graph implementation?

  I’m currently learning the Java Collections API and feel I have a good understanding of the basics, but I’ve never understood why this standard API doesn’t include a Graph implementation. The three base classes are easily understandable (List, Set, and Map) and all their implementations in the API are mostly straightforward and consistent. Considering how often graphs come up as a potential way to model a given problem, this just doesn’t make sense to me (it’s possible it does exist in the API and I’m not looking in the right place of course). Steve Yegge suggests in one of his blog posts that a programmer should consider graphs first when attacking a problem, and if the problem domain doesn’t fit naturally into this data structure, only then consider the alternative structures. My first guess is that there is no universal way to represent graphs, or that their interfaces may not be generic enough for an API implementation to be useful? But if you strip down a graph to its basic components (vertices and a set of edges that connect some or all of the vertices) and consider the ways that graphs are commonly constructed (methods like addVertex(v) and insertEdge(v1, v2)) it seems that a generic Graph implementation would be possible and useful.   Hey there, I am reading up on transactions in mysql and am not sure whether I have grasped something specific correctly, and I want to be sure I understood that correctly, so here goes. I know what a transaction is supposed to do, I'm just not sure whether I understood the statement semantics or not. So, my question is, is anything wrong, (and, if that is the case, what is wrong) with the following: By default, autocommit mode is enabled in mysql. Now, SET autocommit=0; will begin a transaction, SET autocommit=1; will implicitly commit. It is possible to COMMIT; as well as ROLLBACK;, in both of which cases autocommit is still set to 0 afterwards (and a new transaction is implicitly started). START TRANSACTION; will basically SET autocommit=0; until a COMMIT; or ROLLBACK; takes place. In other words, START TRANSACTION; and SET autocommit=0; are equivalent, except for the fact that START TRANSACTION; does the equivalent of implicitly adding a SET autocommit=0; after COMMIT; or ROLLBACK; If that is the case, I don't understand http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/set-transaction.html#isolevel_serializable - seeing as having an isolation level implies that there is a transaction, meaning that autocommit should be off anyway? And if there is another difference (other than the one described above) between beginning a transaction and setting autocommit, what is it? Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

• straight to grub prompt on boot

  I am very lost. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on a laptop. First reboot was fine. I ran all the recommended upgrades, and now every time I start I get just a grub>_ prompt. No error message, just the prompt, and a little banner at the top saying grub's version and telling me that I have minimal bash style editing. I've tried: 1) Re-installing grub via sudo grub-install sda (There is only one disk with only two partitions, one primary, and one for swap) 2) Changed GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10 GRUB_TIMEOUT=30 GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="rootdelay=90" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rootdelay=90" in /etc/default/grub. No luck. I can boot with the following: grub> set root=(hd0,1) grub> probe (hd0,1) -u c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235605f756 grub> linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic root=UUID=c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235605f756 rootdelay=90 grub> initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-21-generic grub> boot And then everything seems to be fine from there. From the grub prompt if I try configfile /boot/grub/grub.cfg The screen clears and I get another grub prompt.   On my portable hard drive I set icons for almost every organized folder. All these icons are located in an Icons folder located on the root directory of the same hard drive. When I change the drive letter of the hard drive (well I don't, windows does automatically sometimes) these icons are lost. So far this hard drive is assigned to F: While it's not a problem now, it may becomes a problem if I upgrade my computer or get a new one and the F: Drive is already taken up for something else. It's also annoying on networks where F: is mapped to a network drive.

• Null date reference when passing json to MVC Controller

  I am building an event system that posts data to a google calendar. I am using jquery 1.4.2, fullcalendar 1.4.5, and asp.net MVC 2. I am using a jquery ui modal dialog for the entry system. Jquery ui datepicker for the from and to fields. Select boxes for the time fields. I have tried both string and DateTime formats in the GCalEvent Class for startDate, startTime, endDate and endTime.
