  Sometimes I need to use several disposable objects within a function. Most common case is having StreamReader and StreamWriter but sometimes it's even more than this. Nested using statements quickly add up and look ugly. • Getting XML Numbered Entities with PHP 5 DOM

  Hello guys, I am new here and got a question that is tricking me all day long. I've made a PHP script, that reads a website source code through cURL, then works with DOMDocument class in order to generate a sitemap file. It is working like a charm in almost every aspect. The problem is with special characters. For compatibility reasons, sitemap files needs to have all special chars encoded as numbered entities. And I am not achieving that. For example, one of my entries - automatically read from site URLs, and wrote to sitemap file - is: http://www.somesite.com/serviços/redesign/ On the source code it should looks like: http://www.somesite.com/servi*ç*os/redesign/ Just this. But unfortunately, I am really not figuring it out how to do it. Source code file, server headers, etc... everything is encoded as UTF-8. I'm using DOMDocument and related extensions to build the XML. (Basically, DOMDocument, $obj-createElement, $obj-appendChild). htmlentities gives ç instead of ç str_replace does not work. It makes the character just vanish in the output. I was using $obj-createElement("loc", $url); on my code, and just now I read in PHP manual that I should use $document-createTextNode($page), in order to have entities encoding support. Well, it is not working either. Any idea on how to get unstuck of this? Thanks.

For the section I'm starting to work on, I'm having some trouble putting everything together in my head, which is what I normally do. I think it's just a little too complex for that. I want to plan it out, and I want some way to visualize it and be able to play with it and manipulate the structure easily. Is there any sort of (free) program I can use to do this?

I know that this is going to be some bad black magic, but I want to use it just during debugging so I could identify my objects more easily. It's like this. I have some object from class A that creates a few B instances as attributes: class A(object): def __init__(self) self.vanilla_b = B() self.chocolate_b = B() class B(object): def __init__(self): # ... What I want is that in B.__init__, it will figure out the "vanilla_b" or whatever attribute name it was given, and then put that as the .name attribute to this specific B. I have an OpenIDSelector on my Login.aspx that lets you choose google or Yahoo. You can choose one, then a popup comes up, and lets you login. Once you login the program hangs because it is trying to do something with a database??? Can't I just use some control(like the OpenIDSelector) and get back that the user was authenticated, get their ClaimedID and handle the rest myself?   I'm having a really weird problem with a third party web service that uses an ODBC connection to Oracle 10.2.0.3.0. I've written a .NET client that generates the same SQL as the web service so I can find out what's going on. The web service is hosted by IIS 6 that's in x64 mode so we use Oracle x64 client. The oracle client version is 10.2.0.1.0. I have a table that looks like this (I've removed some columns and names): SQL> describe tablename; Name Null? Type ----------------------------------------- -------- ---------------------------- KOD VARCHAR2(30) ORDNING NUMBER(5) AVGIFT NUMBER(9) I then in SQL*Plus issue the following statement: SELECT KOD as kod, AVGIFT as riskPoang FROM tablename Where upper(KODTYP) = 'OBJLIVSV_RISKVERKSAMTYP' ORDER BY ORDNING And I get the following result: KOD RISKPOANG ------------------------------ ---------- Hög risk 55 Mellan risk 35 Låg risk 15 Mycket låg risk 5 But when I execute the exact same SQL using the same DSN on the same machine I get this: Values Kod: Hög risk RiskPoäng: 0 Kod: Mellan risk RiskPoäng: 0 Kod: Låg risk RiskPoäng: 0 Kod: Mycket låg risk RiskPoäng: 0 If I first cast the number to varchar and then back again to number, like this: SELECT KOD as kod, to_number(to_char(AVGIFT, '99'), '9999999999') as riskPoang FROM tablename Where upper(KODTYP) = 'OBJLIVSV_RISKVERKSAMTYP' ORDER BY ORDNING I get the correct result: Values Kod: Hög risk RiskPoäng: 55 Kod: Mellan risk RiskPoäng: 35 Kod: Låg risk RiskPoäng: 15 Kod: Mycket låg risk RiskPoäng: 5 Has anyone else experiences this?   I think the ANTLR lexer is treating my attempt at a range expression "1...3" as a float. The expression "x={1..3}" is coming out of the lexer as "x={.3}" when I used the following token definitions: FLOAT : ('0'..'9')+ ('.' '0'..'9'+)? EXPONENT? | ('.' '0'..'9')+ EXPONENT? ; AUTO : '...'; When I change FLOAT to just check for integers, as so: FLOAT : ('0'..'9')+; then the expression "x={1...3}" is tokenized correctly. An example bit of data looks like status { annotations : [ {myAnnotationType:{myKey:myValue}}, {someoneElsesAnnotationType:{theirKey:theirValue}}, ] } now i want to check a status to see if it has an annotation with myAnnotationType in it. If annotations was a hash instead of an array I could just write var ann = status.annotations.myAnnotationType.   My requirement is I have several tabs and one of the tabs uses rich:extendedDataTable. If sortby is clicked in the page where table is used and if I navigate to another page, it looks for the bean of the old page and throws an error saying that sortyBy of the column is undefined. For eg if iused sortBy on userId in tab1( where the table column must have had sortBy=#{data.userId}) and then i click on tab2 , it looks for the data.userId and thorws an error. I am using richfaces 3.2.2SR1 version. can you help me on this.

• Getting progress status out of a class library method

  This app that I am doing uses a class library (if I dare call it that) to do the bulk of the work: 2 main methods in there (DoWork and UndoWork) use the other classes to achieve thier goal. Now that that works, I want to get out of the Console test enviroment and do a GUI. How would I get the status of say, the DoWork() method to update a progress bar? Should I multilate the class library (which currently works with the Console and Windows.Forms) to update? The problem with that is that I would surely have to make the class library use Window.Forms which will mess up the console testing apps (And there are lots of them - I tested all the way through, and then all together). Could you suggest some ideas, or places I can read up about ideas (the whole point of writing this this program is to learn, afer all)? Oh, by the way, suggestions like "foresight" or "planning" probably won't help here...(now, anywyay!) - But certainly will in future projects!
