I need to update(increment by 1) last counter reports for day,week,month and year. If I'm adding manually, sql works fine, but with subqueries it fails to launch. Thanks. :)

    I have 3 tables. Here is the relevant information needed for each. items prod_id order_id item_qty orders order_id order_date order_status acct_id accounts acct_id is_wholesale items is linked to order by the order_id and orders is linked to accounts via acct_id I need to sum item_qty for all items where prod_id=464 and the order stats is not 5 and where the is_wholesale is 0 and the order_date is between two dates. Im struggling with this and would appreciate any help. Here is what I have but it's not working correctly: SELECT SUM(items.item_qty) as qty FROM items LEFT JOIN orders ON orders.order_id = items.order_id LEFT JOIN accounts on orders.acct_id = accounts.acct_id WHERE items.prod_id =451 AND orders.order_date >= '$from_date' AND orders.order_date <= '$to_date' AND orders.order_status <>5 AND accounts.is_wholesale=0; Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Why is that when I search a row in my database, it ended up 0 results? In fact, there are rows that meet my search criterion when I view them manually, but the search button doesnt work as it is. Heres how you can see there are rows that have '0000-00-00 00:00:00' in them, but when I used the search feature, it ended up like this: take note that Im entering it in the right field which is 'AcctStopTime'.     i know that if you create a foreign key on a field (parent_id) in a child table that refer to a parent table's primary key (id), then if this parent table is deleted the child class will be deleted as well if you set onDelete to cascade when creating the foreign key in the child class. but what happens if i set it to onUpdate = cascade?

    I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but I'm assuming it was an dump and import. The db is full of characters like — for commas and such. I've tried various solutions on the web, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that the html header specifies utf8. Any ideas on how I can get the entire db back to normal characters?

    Is there an easy way to dump an array returned from mysql_fetch_row into a CFArray? (part of the PHP implementation of CFPropertyList) I'm bummed by the lack of documentation on CFPropertyList for PHP. Iterating through each item in the array seems inefficient. I'm open to using a different mysql_fetch_... command. I'd like to just say: $NewArray = new CFArray( $ResultArray ) But that deosn't seem to work. If it returns 0 rows, I want next line to be something like: if (!$result) { //do this; } However, in my test, I am getting false when I know it should be true. Is this sound logic here?     Okay I use this script here to make a backup of my database: mysqldump -u root -h localhost -pPASSWORD forums | gzip -9 > backup-$(date +%Y-%m-%d).sql.gz This is used in a cron daily. But I need to download this remotely or through a ftp program every day as well so I have a physical copy of it on my home hard drive, is this possible? I know it is, can anyone tell me a quick way to do it?

    in my forum i have threads and replies. one thread has multiple replies. but then, a reply can be a reply of an reply (like google wave). because of that a reply has to have a column "reply_id" so it can point to the parent reply. but then, the "top-level" replies (the replies directly under the thread) will have no parent reply. so how can i fix this? how should the columns be in the reply table (and thread table). at the moment it looks like this: threads: id title body replies: id thread_id (all replies will belong to a thread) reply_id (here lies the problem. the top-level replies wont have a parent reply) body what could a smart design look like to enable reply a reply?
