  • converting a form from text to textarea

    - by David Cook
    I have a form created to pull PHP values into my database. I created the form with all type="text" constructions. What follows is the code that used to set up the input of data and confirmed that it is functional. <label>About Me: <input type="text" name="BIO_info"/></label> I converted the input to a textarea and adjusted some parameters for proper display. Unfortunately, it has broken the ability for the script to function. What follows is the code I wrote to convert and store from a text area input. <label for="BIO_info" style=" margin-bottom: 500px; margin-top: 2000px; ">About Me: <textarea name="BIO_info" rows="20" cols="60" style="resize: none; overflow-y: hidden;vertical-align:middle;"></textarea> <p> I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Converting Source ASCII Files to JPEGs

    - by CommonsWare
    I publish technical books, in print, PDF, and Kindle/MOBI, with EPUB on the way. The Kindle does not support monospace fonts, which are kinda useful for source code listings. The only way to do monospace fonts is to convert the text (Java source, HTML, XML, etc.) into JPEG images. More specifically, due to pagination issues, a given input ASCII file needs to be split into slices of ~6 lines each, with each slice turned into a JPEG, so listings can span a screen. This is a royal pain. My current mechanism to do that involves: Running expand to set a consistent 2-space tab size, which pipes to... a2ps, which pipes to... A small Perl snippet to add a "%%LanguageLevel: 3\n" line, which pipes to... ImageMagick's convert, to take the (E)PS and make a JPEG out it, with an appropriate background, cropped to 575x148+5+28, etc. That used to work 100% of the time. It now works 95% of the time. The rest of the time, I get convert: geometry does not contain image errors, which I cannot seem to get rid of, in part because I don't understand what the problem is. Before this process, I used to use a pretty-print engine (source-highlight) to get HTML out of the source code...but then the only thing I could find to convert the HTML into JPEGs was to automate screen-grabs from an embedded Gecko engine. Reliability stank, which is why I switched to my current mechanism. So, if you were you, and you needed to turn source listings into JPEG images, in an automated fashion, how would you do it? Bonus points if it offers some sort of pretty-print process (e.g., bolded keywords)! Or, if you know what typically causes convert: geometry does not contain image, that might help. My current process is ugly, but if I could get it back to 100% reliability, that'd be just fine for now. Thanks in advance!

  • converting date data type into varchar

    - by Sheetal Inani
    I have some dates fields in table. These columns contain dates in the following format: mmddyy For example: 31/12/2010 00:00:00:0000 I need to import these values into a table which is set to varchar and numeric and formats dates like this: monthName varchar Year numeric(4,0) currently I'm using INSERT INTO [School].[dbo].[TeacherAttendenceDet] ([TeacherCode], [MonthName], [Year]) (SELECT MAX(employeecode), Datename(MONTH, dateofjoining) AS MONTH, Datepart(YEAR, dateofjoining) AS DATE FROM employeedet GROUP BY dateofjoining) but datename() gives result in date format.. I have to save it in varchar format How can I do this? this is employeemast table: EmployeeCode numeric(5, 0) PayScaleCode numeric(7, 0) DesignationCode varchar(50) CityCode numeric(5, 0) EmployeeName varchar(50) FatherName varchar(50) BirthDate varchar(50) DateOfJoining varchar(50) Address varchar(150) this is TeacherAttendenceDet table TeacherCode numeric(5, 0) Unchecked Year numeric(4, 0) Unchecked MonthName varchar(12) Unchecked i have to insert in teacherattendencedet table the monthname and year from employeemast

  • Converting RGB values to CMYK

    - by llk
    Hi all, I have RGB values that I need to convert into CMYK values. I'm using the iPhone SDK to try and do this. I have tried a couple of things, but cannot either get the values to be anything other than 0 or 1, or the K element is completely wrong (showing up as a negative number). Any help would be a life saver! Thanks in advance!

  • Converting switch statements to more elegant solution.

    - by masfenix
    I have a 9 x 9 matrix. (think of suduko). 4 2 1 6 8 1 8 5 8 3 1 5 8 1 1 7 5 8 1 1 4 0 5 6 7 0 4 6 2 5 5 4 4 8 1 2 6 8 8 2 8 1 6 3 5 8 4 2 6 4 7 4 1 1 1 3 5 3 8 8 5 2 2 2 6 6 0 8 8 8 0 6 8 7 2 3 3 1 1 7 4 now I wanna be able to get a "quadrant". for example (according to my code) the quadrant 2 , 2 returns the following: 5 4 4 2 8 1 6 4 7 If you've noticed, this is the matrix from the very center of the 9 x 9. I've split everything up in to pairs of "3" if you know what i mean. the first "ROW" is from 0 - 3, the second from 3 - 6, the third for 6 - 9.. I hope this makes sense ( I am open to alternate ways to go about this) anyways, heres my code. I dont really like this way, even though it works. I do want speed though beccause i am making a suduko solver. //a quadrant returns the mini 3 x 3 //row 1 has three quads,"1", "2", 3" //row 2 has three quads "1", "2", "3" etc public int[,] GetQuadrant(int rnum, int qnum) { int[,] returnMatrix = new int[3, 3]; int colBegin, colEnd, rowBegin, rowEnd, row, column; //this is so we can keep track of the new matrix row = 0; column = 0; switch (qnum) { case 1: colBegin = 0; colEnd = 3; break; case 2: colBegin = 3; colEnd = 6; break; case 3: colBegin = 6; colEnd = 9; break; default: colBegin = 0; colEnd = 0; break; } switch (rnum) { case 1: rowBegin = 0; rowEnd = 3; break; case 2: rowBegin = 3; rowEnd = 6; break; case 3: rowBegin = 6; rowEnd = 9; break; default: rowBegin = 0; rowEnd = 0; break; } for (int i = rowBegin ; i < rowEnd; i++) { for (int j = colBegin; j < colEnd; j++) { returnMatrix[row, column] = _matrix[i, j]; column++; } column = 0; row++; } return returnMatrix; }

  • Converting "A* Search" code from C++ to Java [on hold]

    - by mr5
    Updated! I get this code from this site It's A* Search Algorithm(finding shortest path with heuristics) I modify most of variable names and some if conditions from the original version to satisfy my syntactic taste. It works in C++ (as I can't see any trouble with it) but fails in Java version. Java Code: String findPath(int startX, int startY, int finishX, int finishY) { @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") LinkedList<Node>[] nodeList = (LinkedList<Node>[]) new LinkedList<?>[2]; nodeList[0] = new LinkedList<Node>(); nodeList[1] = new LinkedList<Node>(); Node n0; Node m0; int nlIndex = 0; // queueList index // reset the node maps for(int y = 0;y < ROW_COUNT; ++y) { for(int x = 0;x < COL_COUNT; ++x) { close_nodes_map[y][x] = 0; open_nodes_map[y][x] = 0; } } // create the start node and push into list of open nodes n0 = new Node( startX, startY, 0, 0 ); n0.updatePriority( finishX, finishY ); nodeList[nlIndex].push( n0 ); open_nodes_map[startY][startX] = n0.getPriority(); // mark it on the open nodes map // A* search while( !nodeList[nlIndex].isEmpty() ) { LinkedList<Node> pq = nodeList[nlIndex]; // get the current node w/ the highest priority // from the list of open nodes n0 = new Node( pq.peek().getX(), pq.peek().getY(), pq.peek().getIterCount(), pq.peek().getPriority()); int x = n0.getX(); int y = n0.getY(); nodeList[nlIndex].pop(); // remove the node from the open list open_nodes_map[y][x] = 0; // mark it on the closed nodes map close_nodes_map[y][x] = 1; // quit searching when the goal state is reached //if((*n0).estimate(finishX, finishY) == 0) if( x == finishX && y == finishY ) { // generate the path from finish to start // by following the directions String path = ""; while( !( x == startX && y == startY) ) { int j = dir_map[y][x]; int c = '0' + ( j + Node.DIRECTION_COUNT / 2 ) % Node.DIRECTION_COUNT; path = (char)c + path; x += DIR_X[j]; y += DIR_Y[j]; } return path; } // generate moves (child nodes) in all possible directions for(int i = 0; i < Node.DIRECTION_COUNT; ++i) { int xdx = x + DIR_X[i]; int ydy = y + DIR_Y[i]; // boundary check if (!(xdx >= 0 && xdx < COL_COUNT && ydy >= 0 && ydy < ROW_COUNT)) continue; if ( ( gridMap.getData( ydy, xdx ) == GridMap.WALKABLE || gridMap.getData( ydy, xdx ) == GridMap.FINISH) && close_nodes_map[ydy][xdx] != 1 ) { // generate a child node m0 = new Node( xdx, ydy, n0.getIterCount(), n0.getPriority() ); m0.nextLevel( i ); m0.updatePriority( finishX, finishY ); // if it is not in the open list then add into that if( open_nodes_map[ydy][xdx] == 0 ) { open_nodes_map[ydy][xdx] = m0.getPriority(); nodeList[nlIndex].push( m0 ); // mark its parent node direction dir_map[ydy][xdx] = ( i + Node.DIRECTION_COUNT / 2 ) % Node.DIRECTION_COUNT; } else if( open_nodes_map[ydy][xdx] > m0.getPriority() ) { // update the priority info open_nodes_map[ydy][xdx] = m0.getPriority(); // update the parent direction info dir_map[ydy][xdx] = ( i + Node.DIRECTION_COUNT / 2 ) % Node.DIRECTION_COUNT; // replace the node // by emptying one queueList to the other one // except the node to be replaced will be ignored // and the new node will be pushed in instead while( !(nodeList[nlIndex].peek().getX() == xdx && nodeList[nlIndex].peek().getY() == ydy ) ) { nodeList[1 - nlIndex].push( nodeList[nlIndex].pop() ); } nodeList[nlIndex].pop(); // remove the wanted node // empty the larger size queueList to the smaller one if( nodeList[nlIndex].size() > nodeList[ 1 - nlIndex ].size() ) nlIndex = 1 - nlIndex; while( !nodeList[nlIndex].isEmpty() ) { nodeList[1 - nlIndex].push( nodeList[nlIndex].pop() ); } nlIndex = 1 - nlIndex; nodeList[nlIndex].push( m0 ); // add the better node instead } } } } return ""; // no route found } Output1: Legends . = PATH ? = START X = FINISH 3,2,1 = OBSTACLES (Just right) From what I read about Java's documentation, I came up with the conclusion: C++'s std::queue<T>::front() == Java's LinkedList<T>.peek() Java's LinkedList<T>.pop() == C++'s std::queue<T>::front() + std::queue<T>::pop() What might I be missing in my Java version? In what way does it became different algorithmically from the C++ version?

  • Converting a Matrix to a grid of colors

    - by Zach
    I'm currently making a console application in C# (will be going to a Windows Form application in the future. Sooner if needed). My current objective is to have a matrix (current size 52x42) be exported as an image (bitmap, jpeg, png, I'm flexible) where each value in the matrix (0, 1, 2, 3) is portrayed as a white, black, blue, or red square of size 20px x 20px with a grid 1px wide seperating each 'cell'. Can this even be done in a console application, and if so how? If not, what would I need to get it working in a Windows Form application?

  • converting compressed Rich text (C#)

    - by Code Smack
    Hello, I have a string with CompressedRichText in it. I want to uncompressed it to standard RTF and then to plain Text. I am using VS 2008 C# Windows Application. I found references to C++ code to do it, but nothing directly in C#. here is a sample of what I am thinking... not much code though... private string _CompressedRichText = "5A46751234E1234A3214C12D34213412346F4"; private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Convert to Uncompressed RTF richTextBox1.Text = //Some action //Convert to text textBox1.Text = //some action } This will at least give you an example of what I am thinking.

  • Reliably converting C preprocessor macros to python code

    - by manual-manuel
    Hi, I have a bunch of C macros the operation of which I need to simulate in python. I saw some pointers to pygccxml or ctypeslib etc. Are these the ways to go ? Or is there something out there that is better ? The C macros if and when they change, I would like the python implementation to be auto generated rather than having to make manual modifications. Hence the question. <my_c_header.h> /* #defines type 1 */ #ifdef OS #define NUM_FLAGS (uint16_t)(3) #define NUM_BITS (uint16_t)(8) #else #define NUM_FLAGS (uint16_t)(6) #define NUM_BITS (uint16_t)(16) #endif #define MAKE_SUB_FLAGS (uint16_t)((1<<NUMFLAGS) -1) #define MAKE_TOTAL_FLAGS(x) (uint16_t)((x & MAKE_SUB_FLAGS) >> NUM_BITS) /* #defines type 2 */ #ifdef OS #DO_SOMETHING(X) os_specifc_process(x) #else #DO_SOMETHING(x) #endif /* #defines type 3 */ enum { CASE0, CASE1, CASE2 } #define MY_CASE_0 ((uint16_t)CASE0) #define MY_CASE_1 ((uint16_t)CASE1) #define MY_CASE_2 ((uint16_t)CASE2) #define /*End of file <my_c_header.h> */ Thanks M

  • perl - converting a date into a string

    - by Jason
    I need to convert a date to a string, the date is entered as 07/04/2010 and should then read July 4th 2010. It should also be able to be entered using singe digits instead of double (7 instead of 07, and it needs to add the 20 to the year if the user enters only /10) This is what I have so far - #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI qw(:standard); use strict; #declare variables my ($date, $month, $day, $year); my @months = ("January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December"); #assign input item to variable $date = param('Date'); #break date apart $date =~ /([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{2,2}|20[0-9]{2,2})/; $month = $1; $day = $2; $year = $3; unless($year =~ /20[0-9]{2,2}/){ $year = "20".$year; } $date = $months[int($1)]." ".$day.", ".$year; #display date print "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The Date</TITLE></HEAD>\n"; print "<BODY>\n"; print "The date is: $date\n"; print "</BODY></HTML>\n"; However I keep getting errors Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at c08ex6.cgi line 14. I've seen some mention of doing this on Linux using Ghostscript, but I've got no idea how to replicate this on windows. Many thanks

  • Converting human readable date into integer values

    - by kahrn
    Hello all, I am looking to do something really simple. Merely convert a string, such as 'december' into something I can use with MySQL (such as '12'). At the moment I use a dict, month_map = { 'december': '12', 'november': '11', 'october': '10', 'september': '09', 'august': '08', 'july': '07', 'june': '06', 'may': '05', 'april': '04', 'march': '03', 'february': '02', 'january': '01' } and then month_map.get('december'). Does any function already exist within the standard python modules that can achieve this? Apologies if this has already been asked.. the questions I have found using search seem a little different.

    I use this regex on some input, [^a-zA-Z0-9@#] However this ends up removing lots of html special characters within the input, such as 227;, #1606;, #1588; (i had to remove the & prefix so that it wouldn't show up as the actual value..) is there a way that I can convert them to their values so that it will satisfy the regexp expression? I also have no idea why the text decided to be so big.
