  I Backed up my site then totally re-did my server with a different Control Panel which created a different directory structure /var/www/vhosts/user/site.com/httpdocs I put the files into the httpdocs folder and put the database back correctly (I think) I can see the main page but clicking on any links gets me a Not Found Message I have tried running update.php and I cannot access /user/login either.

• Is it safe/wise to run Drupal alongside bespoke business web apps in production?

  I'm interested to know the general community feeling about the safety of running Drupal alongside bespoke, business critial ASP.NET MVC apps on a production server. Previously my employer's Drupal based 'visitor website' was hosted as a managed service with a 3rd party. While the LoB sites were hosted in-house. That 3rd party is no longer available so I'm considering my options: Bring Drupal in-house Find another 3rd party My concern is that I have little experience with Drupal administration (and no experience securing it) and that the addition of PHP to my IIS server poses a security risk. Is there a best practice that I can follow in this situation?

• Synchronize the position of two ScrollView views

  I am trying to synchronize the positions of two ScrollViews. I'm trying to do this to display a tv guide listing. I have created a custom class that extends RelativeLayout to display the guide. This relative layout has four children: an imageview in the top left corner, a HorizontalScrollView to display the column headers in the top right, a ScrollView to display the row headers at the bottom left, and a ScrollView in the bottom right that contains the listings. This ScrollView then contains a HorizontalScrollView, which in turn contains a LinearLayout with multiple child views that display the data. I hope this explains it clearly, but here's a diagram to make it clearer: ____________ |__|___hsv___| | | | | | sv -> | | | hsv -> | |sv| ll -> | | | etc | | | | |__|_________| I set it up like this because I wanted the guide listings to scroll both horizontally and vertically, but there's no scroll view that does this. Also, I want the row and column headers to display no matter what position the guide listings are at, but I want them to be lined up properly. So I'm trying to find a way to synchronize the positions of the two hsv's, and to also synchronize the positions of the two sv's. I'm also trying to do it in a way that avoids just running a handler every few milliseconds to poll one view and call scrollTo on the other. I'm in no way sure that this is the best way to do it, but this is what I've come up with. If anybody has any other suggestions, please feel free!

• Should onSaveInstanceState save the "enabledness" of the views?

  Hi there, I have a preferences activity where I can change the language and the theme of my application. From there I return to the previous activity via the Back key, and I want to recreate the activity. I've managed to do that by reinitializing the layout in onResume and also calling onRestoreInstanceState from there. All the views are restored properly, with checkboxes checked if needed, edittexts filled with texts I left there previously. But I also have a button which is initially disabled, and becomes enabled only when a radiobutton is checked. The problem with it is the following: I check the radiobutton, the button becomes enabled. Then I go to settings, change the theme there, and return to the first activity. When I arrive there, the radiobutton is still checked, but the button is disabled. So it seems that the enabled/disabled state isn't being saved into the bundle, which seems counterintuitive. And I haven't found any code in the Android source that does this, too. Am I missing something, or do I have to write my own code for that?

  I have an OrderForm domain class, which has property subclasses, something like: interface IOrderForm { int OrderId { get; } ICustomerDetails CustomerDetails { get; set; } IDeliveryDetails DeliveryDetails{ get; set; } IPaymentsDetails PaymentsDetails { get; set; } IOrderDetails OrderDetails { get; set; } } My "Details" view is strongly typed inheriting from IOrderForm. I then have a strongly type partial for rendering each section: <div id="CustomerDetails"> <% Html.RenderPartial("CustomerDetails", Model.CustomerDetails); %> </div> <div id="DeliveryDetails"> <% Html.RenderPartial("DeliveryDetails", Model.DeliveryDetails); %> </div> ... etc This works ok up to this point, but I'm trying to add some nice ajax bits for updating some parts of the order form, and I've realised that each of my partial views also needs access to the IOrderForm.OrderId. Whats the easiest way to give my partials access to this value?

• Defining Views Based On Selection

  Well the title isn't very descriptive but I'm not exactly sure how to explain but here goes! I have a web application (can use either MVC or standard web forms) which a user signs in to. If the user has signed up for more than one product they will have the option to switch between them. For the sakes of this example lets say User1 signs in and has access to Product1, Product2 and Product3. Now, each product will be very different and offer different functionally. What I want is the main view to be focused around the product they have selected and not redirected to a sub domain. What I don't want to have to do is get them to go to www.mysite.com/product1 or www.mysite.com/product2 but simply www.mysite.com regardless of the product they have selected and have the site render the views etc for that product. Wow does any of that make any sense? I was thinking mabe the use of sessions or something and URL rewriting? Are there any sample apps out there that make use of the same kind of functionallity that I could take a look at? Thanks for any help I appreciate it!

• How should I organize complex SQL views in Rails?

  I manage a research database with Ruby on Rails. The data that is entered is primarily used by scientists who prefer to have all the relevant information for a study in one single massive table for use in their statistics software of choice. I'm currently presenting it as CSV, as it's very straightforward to do and compatible with the tools people want to use. I've written many views (the SQL kind, not the Rails HTML/ERB kind) to make the output they expect a reality. Some of these views are quite large and have a fair amount of complexity behind them. I wrote them in SQL because there are many calculations and comparisons that are more easily done with SQL. They're currently loaded into the database straight from a file named views.sql. To get the requested data, I do a select * from my_view;. The views.sql file is getting quite large. Part of the problem is that we're still figuring out what the data we collect means, so there's a lot of changes being made to the views all the time -- and a ton of them are being created. Many of them need to be repeatable. I've recently run into issues organizing and testing these views. Rails works great for user interface stuff and business logic, but I'm not aware of much existing structure for handling the reporting we require. Some options I've thought of: Should I move them into the most relevant models somehow? Several of the views interact with each other, which makes this situation more complex than just doing a single find_by_sql, so I don't know if they should only be part of the model. Perhaps they should be treated as a "view" in the MVC sense? (That is, they could be moved into app/views/ and live alongside the HTML, perhaps as files named something like my_view.csv.sql which return CSV.) How would you deal with a complex reporting problem like this?

  I have a drupal site where all the views and times associated with nodes are off by 1-hour. -I checked the server time, and it is correct -I checked that my admin user (uid 1) had a zero in the timezone offset -Checked all CCK date fields in question to make sure there was no timezone handling Yet still when the admin user views nodes, there is a 1-hour offset. Is there some sort of system variable - or something else I haven't checked....?

  I'm converting a Wordpress blog to Drupal and need to map the WP paths to the new Drupal ones. What's the best practice for doing this? There are only around a hundred pages to map. I've been experimenting with the URL Alter module, which provides an alternative to messing with custom_url_rewrite functions settings.php but keep getting 404. Waiting to hear back from the module maintainer if this is what the module is intended for. In the meantime I am wondering how others do this? Should I be using .htaccess?

  I'm new to Drupal 6.10 CMS and PHP too. I'm creating my website with drupal and I have found a module called Webform I like it, it's pretty easy to create forms with different types of fields and file uploading. The one thing that i can't figure out is how to add Rich Text before all fields. Something like introduction to the form. This module has "Description" field that will show text as a plain text but it doesn't have rich text in it. What can I use to make that happen. Is it possible to hardcode html there or is there any other modules that can allow to do something like that? Thanks

My friend has taken the time to design the layout for our site, and we have things looking how we want in a static HTML page. What I'd like to do now is move over to a Content Management System like Drupal but keep the same design that we have all ready laid out. Since I'm completely new to this field, I'm looking for some best-practices advice as to how to make this leap. It's apparent to me that I could probably edit some existing Drupal Theme to make it give me the layout that I want, but is that the path I should go down? Thanks! • Creating custom contact page -- page-contact.tpl.php (Drupal)

  I'm new to Drupal. I want to create a contact page, so I copied page.tpl.php and renamed it to page-contact.tpl.php. I created some new elements in the page, so I can see that if I click on the "contact" link, I'll know that I went to the correct page. Right now I don't see any change. Was there something I missed? Do I need to do something in the admin settings so Drupal knows which file I need to open? I also tried clearing my cache.

• How to get all paths in drupal install

  Hi, I need to write a module that gives me a page will all possible paths in a drupal install, including orphaned pages. (site map won't work for that). I can query the url_alias table for aliases, and I can query the menu_router table for all paths, even ones set in page/feed displays in views. But, variable paths (those with arguments) get interpreted at run-time. So, is there a way to get all possible paths in a drupal install, including dynamic paths and orphans? It's catch22. I have to know all the urls ahead of time to get them.

• Translating external api results in Drupal

  We're building a multi-language Drupal stack and one of the concerns we have is that our payment processor is going to have to send back some information to us. We've been able to narrow this down so that the strings they're sending back look like <country code>-<number of months> so we can easily translate that into any number of languages, except English. t('FR-12') is all well and good if we want to translate that into a french description, but because there's not an English language a similar string like t('EN-12') is not translatable. Similarly for the generic string: #API_Connection_Error This sort of generic string approach seemed really compelling to me at first but it seems to not work in Drupal. Do you have any suggestions about how to translate generic strings like this into both English and other languages? Thank you, I've been looking through Google all morning.

• Drupal htaccess redirect - all files in directory to new directory

  Hiya, I've moved a site to Drupal, but am now getting a lot of 404 errors due to the search engines taking their time to update the indexes. The 404 paths all look similar to this: recipedata/ccp1300006/633_L.jpg recipedata/ccp1500005/risotto.jpg recipedata/ccp1500006/haddock.jpg So I'd like to do some htaccess redirection with mod_rewrite to take care of this lot. All the images DO exist - the path has just changed to /sites/default/files/images/ I've edited a lot of redirects into my htaccess already, but because the ccpXXXXXX directory changes I can't quite figure out the regex. This was my last attempt, but yeah - doesn't work :) Can anyone give me some pointers?   Hi. I need to run a php code snippet in a Drupal template and not have it cached. The php snippet sniffs for a cookie and if found returns one of messages according to the cookie value. ie: if(isset($_GET['key'])) { $cookievalue = $_GET['key']; } if(isset($_COOKIE['cookname'])) { $cookievalue = $_COOKIE['cookname']; } switch ($cookievalue) { case hmm01: echo "abc"; break; case hmm02: echo "def"; break; case hmm03: echo "ghi"; break; default: echo "hello"; } Right now, Drupal displays the messages randomly according to when the page was first caches and with which cookie - no good at all! I can't see a great deal of info on how I might go about this - it seems that you have to turn the cache off for the page rather than run php code uncached.

• Sending email from Drupal contact form, but GMail marks it as "Forged"

  Hi, My Drupal site sends email to a GMail account, but the emails sent all go into the Spam folder, and GMail puts up a bar with the message "This message was likely forged and did not originate from your account." Although I can create a filter to prevent them going to Spam, I want to start sending newsletters, and I suspect they'll have the same problem. I suspect the problem is with the way I've set up either PHP or Drupal to send mail. As far as I know it's just using the sendmail function. I've set the from address to "info@..." where ... is the site domain. Any tips on how I can make set up my outgoing mail so it won't be refused by GMail (and presumably other major mail providers)? I've got this client who's a dietician and wants a site with some functionality I'm not sure how to implement: custom forms that calculate some stuff (like ideal body weight, based on a bazillion factors), the user is supposed to be able to pay for the consultation with a credit card - which lets him access more consultation forms, bi-weekly results from how a user's diet is going (weight reduction and so on) should be displayed using a series of charts, preferably in the user's account page. I use Drupal exclusively, so the question is whether such functionality can be implemented using existing modules? Which modules would you recommend? Can this be achieved without writing custom modules (I've never written a Drupal module)? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  I'm running into problems trying to pass absolute URIs as parameters with clean URLs enabled. I've got hook_menu() set up like this: function mymodule_menu() { return array( 'page/%' = array( 'title' = 'DBpedia Display Test', 'page callback' = 'mymodule_dbpedia_display', 'page arguments' = array(1), ), ); } and in the page callback: function mymodule_dbpedia_display($uri) { // Make an HTTP request for this URI // and then render some things return $output; } What I'm hoping to do is somehow pass full URIs (e.g. "http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee") to my page callback. I've tried a few things and nothing's worked so far... http://mysite.com/page/http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Completely breaks Drupal's rewriting http://mysite.com/page/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Gives a 404 http://mysite.com/page/http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee Returns just "http:", which makes sense I could probably use $_GET to pull out the whole query string, but I guess I'm hoping for a more 'Drupal' solution. Any suggestions?
