  • Is there any syntax checker for knockout.js?

    I like knockout.js, the only problem is Visual Studio knows nothing about this framework, so it does not prevent me from silly things like assigning some value to observable property with '=' operator which makes it regular property, and it's not easy to reveal at compile time and often at runtime even. I wonder is there any syntax checker/highlighter for Visual Studio 2010 that helps me prevent faults like this? What about VS 2011? It might be a great help for developers who are new to knockout.   • Is it possible to programatically catch JavaScript SyntaxErrors?

    I don't think that this is doable, but wanted to throw it out to the community to confirm my suspicions. Let's say you're writing a program in another language like Python, PHP, or ASP. This program is intended to build another program written in JavaScript. However, the first program is unfortunately not immune to errors. So, occasionally, the program which builds the JavaScript program does some funky stuff and outputs a syntax error in the JavaScript source. Now some user goes and loads the program and it essentially halts, because the web browser running it can't properly parse the JavaScript. This user is probably not going to be happy. I wouldn't be. This brings me to my question. Is it possible to write an error handler that would catch these kind of syntax problems allowing the application to fail gracefully? Here's an example: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> window.onerror = errorHandler; function errorHandler(a,b,c) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } vara jfs; </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html> or <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> try { vara jfs; } catch (e) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html>

  • JavaScript regex - positive lookahead -- giving me syntax errors

    This piece of regex (?<=href\=")[^]+?(?=#_) is supposed to match everything in a href value except the the hash value and what follows it within the href url. It appears to work fine under Regex debuggers/testers such as http://gskinner.com/RegExr/ but in javascript it appears to produce syntax error. If i remove the < from the (?<=) it works however, that's not the positive lookahead I am looking for. I am pulling my hair off, as usual, thanks to Regex lol Please help

    I am getting uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [@name='rbRewSelectionGroup'] when I load the page: <script language="javascript"> $("input[@name='rbRewSelectionGroup']").click(function() { $(this).closest("form").submit(); }); </script> I am not seeing it. I do not see anything wrong with this code at all. I do have the jQuery (1.4.2) library loaded with the page.

    I have heard that closures could be introduced in the next Java standard that is scheduled to be released somewhere around next summer. What would this syntax look like? I read somewhere that introducing closures in java is a bigger change than generic was in java 5. Is this true? pros and cons?     I was reading http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/gitignore.html and the 6 points used to explain the ignore patterns seem to be describing a custom variant of a glob search syntax. I am more familiar with Mercurial, which allows to explicitly ignore via glob or regex patterns, no questions asked. Is there anything similar functionality in Git?     Do you see any problem with this: I'm in ASP.net and I'm using pikachoose jquery slideshow. It works fine in IE and was working in Firefox. In C# I would just do this: func(new Object[]{}); In VB.NET I am forced to do this: Dim ctrls() As Control = {} func(ctrls) Is there a way to shorthand the call in VB.NET and have everything happen in one line of code? P.S. VB-bashing will earn bonus points. ;-)
