This happens even if I invoke OpenVPN as a member of Administrators, and whether or not I've specified script-security 2 (as suggested by [this question][2]). • Wildcard mapping in IIS 7.0 not working

  I can't seem to get the ASP.NET engine to handle ALL wildcard mapping. When I try to make a request that is supposed to be handled by the asp.net engine, i get a 404 error from the StaticFile handler Here is the content of my web.config file. • Windows 7 Sysprep Default User

  I seem to be having a problem with implementing my sysprep. I have been playing with Windows 7, WAIK, Server 2008 R2 and various other things. I managed to create a WIM with everything I need installed and I have worked out the autounattend.xml. I now have a Windows 7 64-bit complete unattended install from a USB device. It has all my programs, setting and everything done except one thing - the default profile set up 100% correctly. I have created a mostly set up default profile. I booted into audit mode, customized the Administrator account (mostly anyway) and then used sysprep with an unattend.xml file containing the copyprofile=true command. The file was set up with the WSIM and does not contain any extra info. This all works wonderfully. I recreated the WIM and all was good. I then decided to move the default location of the visible stuff in the user profile (Documents, Music, Pictures etc.) without changing the location of Appdata or other hidden folders. This is where things went a little... wrong. I went to the user folder (generally has the User name) with all the other folders in it. I right clicked on My Documents, found the location tab and changed it to M:\Documents. Now if I run sysprep /generalize /oobe /reboot /unattend:unattend.xml it starts the generalise... then spits out a fatal error and goes no further. • SQL 2008 SP2 RsClientPrint ActiveX - "Unable to load client print control"

  We recently updated our SQL 2008 server to use SP 2 and its causing a few headaches. We use SSRS on this server and when a client tries to print a report by the built-in print function, we're needing to download the RsClientPrint ActiveX control from the server from the client gets the following error Unable to load client print control. We have about 700 computers that are needing this fixed and I've followed the instructions found on the following URL: http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/client-side-printing-silent-deployment-of-rsclientPrint.aspx We have two issues: Most of the users who will be using this ActiveX control are not local administrators so they will not be able to install the control themselves Since there are so many computers, this has to be done silently behind the scenes run by a local admin account After following the information from the link above, we're able to put the files in the C:\Windows\System32 folder and register the DLL but we still get the same problem. The only small thing I've noticed is that in the HTML for the report page, everything that references a version is referencing version 2007.100.4000.00 and the version of the DLL that I pulled from the report server is 2007.100.1600.22. Also, for some clients that are local administrators, they are prompted every time to install the ActiveX control when they click print. This works successfully but we can't have the user asked if they want to install the same control every time they need to print.

• Powerpoint 2010 crash on quickstyle menu

  Windows 7 64-bit, recent install, added Office 2010. When I create some boxes and open the quick-style menu, it crashes (or stops responding, in windowese, and then it sends an error report). I've run the "Repair" from the installer, but it didn't help. There's nothing in Windows Update I've Googled and searched on Microsoft's site, but n Any other ideas? (It's not related to this ppt crash question as that concerns PPT 2007.   I've turned on dynamic content compression in IIS 7, but Fiddler is showing that my dynamic pages are still being served without content-encoding: gzip. Static content compression is working fine on the same servers. Not sure if it matters but most of the dynamic pages are coldfusion pages and we're also using the IIS URL rewriting module. • Windows Audio Issue

  This one is driving me nuts. Hoping someone can shed some light. I'm running windows 7 using onboard audio. It's been fine for over 2 years but lately there's a problem every time I play audio. I hear a small soft burst of static and the volume turns itself down from 50% to 23%. Once at 23%, it plays fine. No related events logged in viewer. No reported problems with the device. Different headphones, same problem. I played around with audio settings for hours but the problem persists. I know it's not an easy problem but I was hoping someone had encountered the same thing.

• IIS7 Compression CSS files only compressed when dynamic compression is enabled

  If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I would like to enable compression for static files within IIS7 (for the sake of simplicity I'll just refer to static css files for the time being). The problem I'm getting is that css files are only compressed when both dynamic and static compression is enabled in IIS for the website. What I really want to achieve is css compression (static file) whilst leaving the dynamic (aspx) pages as uncompressed for the time being (to avoid unnecessary CPU load). I am puzzled as to why just leaving 'static compression' enabled causes css files to be returned uncompressed.   I am not very experienced with configuring httpd, and I am following a tutorial to view my site w/ domain name under localhost. My localhost just blanks out and my apache services won't restart. I checked all of my paths and they are correct. I am editing the w*indows/system32/drivers/etc/host*s file and my apache httpd file. • Enabling WinRM by Group Policy

  I'm having partial success enabling WinRM through Active Directory GPO's on our Server 2008 R2 environment. I've created a GPO that enables "Allow automatic configuration of listeners" and also enables all the necessary predefined WinRM Firewall rules. This GPO works fine for our webservers. Indeed, this is reflected by the "Server Manager Remote Management" nicely flipping to "enabled" in Server Manager Server Summary. However, the same GPO applied to both our Management servers, which are Domain Controllers, does not give the same result. I see the GPO settings being applied, including the listener as confirmed by C:\Windows\system32>winrm e winrm/config/listener Listener [Source="GPO"] Address = * Transport = HTTP Port = 5985 Hostname Enabled = true URLPrefix = wsman CertificateThumbprint ListeningOn = 10.32.40.210, 10.32.40.211, 10.32.40.212 But in Server Manager, Server Summary, Remote Management remains on "disabled" and indeed when trying to connect to one of these machines Server Manager gives an "Access Denied". Manually enabling WinRM locally via Server Manager "Configure Server Manager Remote Management" on either of these machines works fine. What can be the cause? • WHS - Windows Update Failure

  Clicking "Update Now..." inside my EX470 control panel for Windows Update produces the following error message: "Windows Home Server updates installation can not complete. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please restart the server." I have rebooted the server numerous times, and I have also used remote desktop to connect to the machine to perform the update this way, however the browser is unable to pull up http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This is very strange behavior because I am able to access all other sites (gmail.com, serverfault.com, etc). Would it be possible for someone to explain to me how I can check to see what is blocking the connection of this device, which apparently has a valid internet connection, to the Microsoft Windows Update site? note #1 Using the shortcut: %SystemRoot%\system32\wupdmgr.exe does not work either. It says "Connecting to 65.55.200.155..." but nothing ever happens. This is strange because all other sites seem fine. Also, I can connect to windowsupdate.microsoft.com on my local desktop so I know this is running as well

• How a batch file runs on a remote machine started by PSEXEC

  I am having an issue running a Batch file on a remote machine suing PSEXEC. The file runs but does not run like it does when run through remote desktop. The batch runs a file which is a 32 bit application, which opens multiple 16bit applications, this should all run under one ntvdm.exe (In one Memory Space). Through remote desktop the batch file runs under the explorer process, and works correctly opening only one ntvdm.exe. Using PSEXEC the batch runs but not under the explorer process, a separate ntvdm.exe is open for each process. I found running the batch from explorer in PSEXEC works, but comes up with a "File Download - Security Warning" eg. psexec.exe" \compname -u username -p passowrd -s -d -i 0 explorer C:\Program.bat I want to be able to run the batch successfully without receiving warnings, it is a local warning and not a network share warning. Possible to recreate warning typing "explorer C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" in Run I would like to know if anyone knows of a way to get PSEXEC to open the batch file to run as though it was started by explorer. Or a way of removing the local "File Download - Security Warning" Thanks

• Windows 7 Apache Crashes on ANY request

  I have XAMPP installed. I am running Windows 7. I have WordPress installed so that I may tweak it and test things locally before putting them 'live' on a remote server. I just installed BuddyPress. The installation was rather seamless. I activated the plugin and almost immediately, Apache crashed. I have Apache running as a service so it immediately restarted itself and was running BUT if I even so much as refresh the page (or create any other request), down it goes. • Windows 7: Windows Firewall: Logging/Notifying on Outgoing Request Attempts

  I'm trying to configure Windows Firewall with Advanced Security to log and tell me when programs are trying to make outbound requests. I previously tried installing ZoneAlarm, which worked wonders for me with this in XP, but now, I'm unable to install ZA on Win7. My question is, is it possible to somehow monitor a log or get notifications when a program tries to do that if I set all outbound connections to auto-block, so that I can then create a specific rule for the program and block it.? Thanks! UPDATE: I've enabled all the logging options available through the Properties windows of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security Console, but I am only seeing logs in the %systemroot%\system32\LogFiles\Firewall\pfirewall.log file, not in the Event Viewer, as the first answer suggested. However, the logs that I can see only tell me the request's or response's destination IP and whether the connection was allowed or blocked, but it doesn't tell me what executable it comes from. I want to find out the file path of the executable that each blocked request comes from. So far, I haven't been able to.

• When gaming computer freezes with a blank screen and a buzzing sound

  I have a problem with random freezes when playing games. Sometimes it's fine for hours, other times it dosn't last even one. I tried googling around and I found recomendations to update my graphics drivers and to test for overheating. The graphics drivers haven't helped worked and Furmark created a consistant heat higher than I get during a crash. I even tried running a game using the Linux dual boot and WINE, that crashed too. Here are the tempreture logs leading up to the latest crash. The GPU dosn't hit 80, and I've hit 90 with no crash on firmark. • Purge print driver cache on windows 7 with powershell script

  [Background] We have been having trouble with our network clients suddenly being unable to print. They get an odd error with a hex code. We determined that something in the driver was messed up and we could resolve the issue by clearing the driver cache and reinstalling the driver. This happens to random computers every so often. We're assuming this is a bug with the latest Dell 2330dn driver since that is the only model that has this problem. [Problem] What we are looking to do is write a Powershell script that would clear the driver cache and redownload the driver. I see a ton of scripts out there to manage queues, servers, and ports, but nothing for local driver cache management. [Current Workaround] Since we have to do this manually, I'll write out the steps so you know what we want this script to replicate. Disable print spooler Restart machine Delete contents of: C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 Enable print spooler and start service. Delete the network printer object and re-add network printer off of server. [Request] I'm good enough with powershell to translate the above workaround into a pair of scripts. I'd like to find a more elegant solution then my current workaround. Any suggestions?
