  • MDX filter members in a sum-function

    I have an SSAS cube containing customers and their purchased memberships (let's say magazines). I want to calculate the retention. I.e. how many customers remain a customer. To do this I specify a set (males, 30yrs, 1 january 2011). I want to see if this set - identified by a customer number - is still present in the following months. I named my set MySet2. What I try to do is: sum(measures.amount, [membership].[name].&[X], MySet2, [date].[date].currentmember) However, the result is incorrect. The number is far to low. I suspect it still tries to account for all the males of 30 years old, but after a year they're not 30 anymore. What am I missing? I looked at scope and filter, but I'm not sure how to apply it.

    I'm using NSDate to get a string such as "18 Jun 09", with code: NSDate *theDate = [NSDate date]; NSString *dateString = [theDate descriptionWithCalendarFormat:@"%d %b %y" timeZone:nil locale: nil]; This works, but only results in an English output. I need the output to be localized in the user's default language. Does Cocoa (Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 in this case) provide a facility for this localization or do I have to manually localize for each case of day and & month names my self? (I have provided a locale, but although that does provide a locale-specific ordering of the date, it does not appear to do any localization of day-month names.)

    I have an asp:calendar on my view page and as I hover over it..it shows a javascript postback status bar. but I have an asp:button also on the same page and when I hover over it. The action from the controller is in the status bar..because I have an onClick attribute for the button that triggers an action on the server side. and in the asp:calendar I also have a trigger event OnSelectionChanged the has a method on the server side...but as I said when I hover over the calendar to pick a date in the status bar it shows:javascript:_doPostBack($ct100ContentPlaceHolder?mycalendar',''3270) and when I click a date I receive an error that says object doesnt support this method..Also mycalendar is the id name of the asp:calendar

    Hi all, I have recently started to use Kohana and I know inheritance is in infancy stages at the moment. The work around is using a $_has_one annotation on the child class model. In may case i have "page" as the parent of "article". I have something like, protected $_has_one = array('mypage'=>array('model'=>'page', 'foreign_key'=>'id')); In my controller, I have an action which queries the database. In this query I am trying to access fields form the parent of "article" which is the "page". $n->articles=ORM::factory('article')->where('expires','=',0) ->where('articledate','<',date('y-m-d')) ->where('expirydate','>',date('y-m-d')) ->where('mypage->status','=','PUBLISHED') ->order_by('articledate','desc') ->find_all(); The status column resides in the page table and my query is generating an error to the effect of "cannot find status", clearly because it belongs to the parent. Any ideas ?

    I keep coming across scenarios where it will be useful to store a set of arbitrary data in a table using a per-row key/value model, rather than a rigid column/field model. The problem is, I want to store the values with their correct data type rather than converting everything to a string. This means I have to choose either a single table with multiple nullable columns, one for each data type, or a set of value tables, one for each data type. I'm also unsure as to whether I should use full third normal form and separate the keys into a separate table, referencing them via a foreign key from the value table(s), or if it would be better to keep things simple and store the string keys in the value table(s) and accept the duplication of strings. Old/bad: This solution makes adding additional values a pain in a fluid environment because the table needs to be modified regularly.     I have a DataGridView in a windows form with 3 columns: Serial number, Name, and Date-Time. The Name column will always have either of the two values: "name1" or "name2". I need to sort these columns such that the grid displays all the rows with name values in a specific order (first display all the "name1" rows and then all the "name2" rows). Within the "name1" rows, I want the rows to be sorted by the Date-Time. Please note programmatically, all the 3 columns are strings.   • Would this prevent the row from being read during the transaction?

    I remember an example where reads in a transaction then writing back the data is not safe because another transaction may read/write to it in the time between. So i would like to check the date and prevent the row from being modified or read until my transaction is finish. Would this do the trick? and are there any sql variants that this will not work on? update tbl set id=id where date>expire_date and id=@id Note: dateexpire_date happens to be my condition. It could be anything. Would this prevent other transaction from reading the row until i commit or rollback?

Is there a way to join the two fields together so I call the sub-selects only once?   • How to get parameters out of an ascx back to the main aspx page

    I've got an aspx page that renders an ascx page with filtering capabilities. Inside the ascx page, parameters are passed as follows: <tr> <td class="label">Plataforma</td> <td class="field lookup"><%= Html.Lookup("s.Site", null, Url, "Sites") %></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="label">Data</td> <td class="field date"><%= Html.TextBox("s.Date", DateTime.Today.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd")) %></td> </tr> I need to be able to get those parameters on the main aspx page, because they are needed for an action that is called there. How could I access these parameters?
