• ConcurrentDictionary and updating values

  Hello, After searching via Google and coming up empty, I decided to ask the gurus here on StackOverflow. I am trying to update entries in a ConcurrentDictionary something like this: class Class1 { public int Counter { get; set; } } class Test { private ConcurrentDictionary<int, Class1> dict = new ConcurrentDictionary<int, Class1>(); public void TestIt() { foreach (var foo in dict) { foo.Value.Counter = foo.Value.Counter + 1; // Simplified example } } } Essentially I need to iterate over the dictionary and update a field on each Value. I understand from the documentation that I need to avoid using the Value property. Instead I think I need to use TryUpdate except that I don’t want to replace my whole object. Instead, I want to update a field on the object. After reading this: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/pfxteam/archive/2010/01/08/9945809.aspx Perhaps I need to use AddOrUpdate and simply do nothing in the add delegate. I thought after reading the MSDN article on the Enumerable.Join() method, I'd understand exactly what was happening, but I don't. • How to Edit data in nested Listview

  I am using listview to display a list of items and a nested listview to show list of features to each item. Both parent and child listview need to able Insert,Edit and delete operation. It works fine for parent listview. But when I try to edit an child item, The edit button does not take it into Edit mode. • EF4 - possible to mock ObjectContext for unit testing?

  Can it be done without using TypeMock Islolator? I've found a few suggestions online such as passing in a metadata only connection string, however nothing I've come across besides TypeMock seems to truly allow for a mock ObjectContext that can be injected into services for unit testing. Do I plunk down the $$ for TypeMock, or are there alternatives? Has nobody managed to create anything comparable to TypeMock that is open source?

But when i change anything in the Designer all these Annotations are lost. Is it possible to keep self made changes to the edmx file, or is there any better way of applying System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations to the generated Entities? Thanks.

  I have been looking at frameworks for writing 2D games in Java - part of a growing desire to rediscover my roots in writing those simple but addictive video games. I have googled and found some possibilities, but it's hard to judge which is best without investing significant time in each. Does anyone out there have any recommendations from experience, preferably with a list of pro's and con's for the framework. NOTE: I am not looking so much for comparisons between frameworks but, rather, feedback on any given framework from actually having used it firsthand, or knowing someone who has. The other possibility I am considering is rolling my own, but would rather not. EDIT: I am targeting Java on the Desktop, and expect capable machines, though not state of the art.   How have I to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> to remove duplicates rows from a DataTable with next structure: ID primary key, col_1, col_2, col_3, col_4 The default comparer doesn't work because each row has it's own, unique primary key. How to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> that will skip primary key and compare only data remained. • Cannot redeclare class error when generating PHPUnit code coverage report

  Starting a project with Zend Framework 1.10 and Doctrine 2 (Beta1). I am using namespaces in my own library code. When generating code coverage reports I get a Fatal Error about Redeclaring a class. To provide more info, I've commented out the xdebug_disable() call in my phpunit executable so you can see the function trace (disabled local variables output because there was too much output). I guess it should be noted that HelperBroker is the first file in the filesystem stemming out from library/Cob I am on Snow Leopard with the latest/recent versions of all software (Zend Server, Zend Framework, Doctrine 2 Beta1, Phing, PHPUnit, PEAR).

  Hi, I'm just starting out with NHibernate and I'm having trouble with running more complex queries. I have entities with a list of tags attached. The user will provide two lists of tags, include and exclude. I need to find all the entities that have all of the include tags, and exclude any entites that have any tag in the exclude list. Below is my first effort- which is clearly wrong as its listing all Display objects that have any of the include tags rather than all! I'm finding out that a significant amount of time is being spent by my program on the Count and First methods, so I started to change to .Single, only to find out that there is no such method. The code below was my first attempt at creating one (mostly copied from the Where method), but it's not working. • Does the EntityDataSource support "it.Property.Property" syntax?

  I have an EntityDataSource where I'm trying to replace some previous code-behind work. My EntityDataSource looks like: <asp:EntityDataSource runat="server" ID="personDataSource" ContextTypeName="Model.GuidesEntities" EntitySetName="CharacterFavorites" OrderBy="it.Person.FullName" Select="it.Person.Id" Where="it.UserName = @userName" /> When when I actually use it I get the error: 'Person' is not a member of type 'Transient.rowtype[(Id,Edm.Int32(Nullable=True,DefaultValue=))]' in the currently loaded schemas. Does the EntityDataSource not support walking the relationships? How would you do this with the EntityDataSource? Also the @userName parameter is being added in the code behind for now. Extra points for anyone who knows how to specify a username parameter directly in the WhereParameters collection.

We're working in a Dynamic Data project that will handle entities coming from two different namespaces: myModel.Abby and myModel.Ben. whose classes are: Abby myModel.Abby.Car myModel.Abby.Lollipop Ben myModel.Ben.Car myModel.Ben.Apple So myModel.Abby.Car and myModel.Ben.Car are homonym. when I try to register both ObjectContext's, an exception is thrown telling us that there are type name conflicts between the mentioned classes (although the types belong to different namespaces). How can we overcome type-name conflicts, caused by repeated type names among different namespaces?

• WCF Data Services consuming data from EF based repository

  We have an existing repository which is based on EF4 / POCO and is working well. We want to add a service layer using WCF Data Services and looking for some best practice advice. So far we have developed a class which has a IQueryable property and the getter triggers the repository 'get all users' method. The problem so far have been two-fold: 1) It required us to decorate the ID field of the poco object to tell data service what field was the id. This now means that our POCO object is not 'pure'. 2) It cannot figure out the relationships between the objects (which is obvious i guess). I've now stopped this approach and i'm thinking that maybe we should expose the OBjectContext from the repository and use more 'automatic' functionality of EF. Has anybody got any advice or examples of using the repository pattern with WCF Data Services ?

• Silverlight: After adding table no datacontext classes are available for the new DomainService class

  I'm using a Silverlight 4 WCF RIA Services demo application that uses LinqToSql, that works well. I add a new database table, move the new table to the LinqToSql designer and build the project I add a new DomainService class I get a dialog with the only option to create an empty DomainService and no DataContext classes are available. • ADO.NET (WCF) Data Services Query Interceptor Hangs IIS

  I have an ADO.NET Data Service that's supposed to provide read-only access to a somewhat complex database. Logically I have table-per-type (TPT) inheritance in my data model but the EDM doesn't implement inheritance. (Limitation of EF and navigation properties on derived types. STILL not fixed in EF4!) I can query my EDM directly (using a separate project) using a copy of the query I'm trying to run against the web service, results are returned within 10 seconds. Disabling the query interceptors I'm able to make the same query against the web service, results are returned similarly quickly. I can enable some of the query interceptors and the results are returned slowly, up to a minute or so later. Alternatively, I can enable all the query interceptors, expand less of the properties on the main object I'm querying, and results are returned in a similar period of time. (I've increased some of the timeout periods) Up til this point Sql Profiler indicates the slow-down is the database. (That's a post for a different day) But when I enable all my query interceptors and expand all the properties I'd like to have the IIS worker process pegs the CPU for 20 minutes and a query is never even made against the database. This implies to me that yes, my implementation probably sucks but regardless the Data Services "tier" is having an issue it shouldn't. WCF tracing didn't reveal anything interesting to my untrained eye. Details: Data model: Agent-Person-Student Student has a collection of referrals Students and referrals are private, queries against the web service should only return "your" students and referrals. This means Person and Agent need to be filtered too. Other entities (Agent-Organization-School) can be accessed by anyone who has authenticated. The existing security model is poorly suited to perform this type of filtering for this type of data access, the query interceptors are complicated and cause EF to generate some entertaining sql queries. • Binding a DropDownList in ListView InsertItemTemplate throwing an error

  I've got a ListView which binds to a LinqDataSource and displays selected locations. The insert item Contains a dropdownlist that pulls from another LinqDataSource to give all the unselected locations. The problem is that I get the following error when loading the page: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. I'm doing a very similar setup in another page of the website, and it isn't giving us this error so I'm pretty confused. I know I can work around this by not binding, manually finding the control and getting the value, but this should work and I don't understand why it isn't. Any thoughts? • Why does this render as a list of "System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem"s?

  I'm trying to populate a DropDownList with values pulled from a property, and my end result right now is a list of nothing but "System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem"s. I'm sure there's some minor step I'm omitting here, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. • List<T>.RemoveAll Doesn't Exist in Silverlight?

  I'm working on a Silverlight 2/3 application. I would like to use List.RemoveAll (or maybe it's IList.RemoveAll?) and specify a predicate so that I can remove a bunch of elements from a list in one sweep. It seems like this function doesn't exist in Silverlight, though. Am I missing something here? Is there an alternative approach that's equally easy? Right now, I'm manually iterating over my elements in a foreach and keeping a second list (because you can't delete while iterating), and it's quite ... cumbersome.

  Hi guys, I have the following schema. What I'd like to do is to retrieve all customers (and children properties) from a selected StaffAssignment by StaffId.
