    I have developed a web application (ASP.NET Web Forms). One of my customer has very restrictive policies. When he accesses the web page, IE shows this message: Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. As far as I know, we don't use ActiveX controls on our page. I did a "View Souce" and did not find anything suspect. How can I find what part of my page refers to an ActiveX. The application uses jQuery and a few jQuery plug-ins. Is there a tool/add-in like "Fire Bug" that I can use to list the ActiveX controls referred on a page?

  • How to disable UI control based on domain object's state?

    Here's my problem. I have a somewhat complex domain object, which, depending on its state, responds to certain actions. I think the state pattern is pretty much the solution for that. However, I need to display which actions are possible at any moment in the UI. Ex: The domain object is an audio player. Some songs can't be skipped (like ads), so I need to disable the "next" and "previous" buttons in the GUI so the user have some kind of feedback of which action he can execute. I've looked at Swing's Action class (note: this is not a Java project), but I think I would need to keep every Actions in my domain object class (audio player), so it can enable or disable them depending on its own state (thus, affecting the UI). Is it the way to do it?

For example, in the "selectedIndexChanged" event of a dropDownList, if a user selects the value "sport-car" the text box "payload" is disabled and the textbox "max speed" is enabled. private sub dropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(byval sender as object, byval e as eventargs) handles dropDownList1.SelectedIndexChanged If dropDownList1.selectedValue = "sport-car" then textBox_payLoad.enabled = false textBox_maxSpeed.enabled = true end if end sub When I'm doing something like this, the controls aren't enabled/disabled, even the event (wich I've added a breakpoint) seems not to be raised (sometimes several time after it is raised). Also, when the instructions in the condition is executed, nothing changes. What am I doing wrong? Maybe this is a very easy issue, but I'm a begginer in MS Visual Web Developer.

  • Control the size of points in an R scatterplot?

    In R, the plot() function takes a pch argument that controls the appearance of the points in the plot. I'm making scatterplots with tens of thousands of points and prefer a small, but not too small dot. Basically, I find pch='.' to be too small, but pch=19 to be too fat. Is there something in the middle or some way to scale the dots down somehow?

    I have the following client-side front-end HTML using Jinja2 template engine: {% for record in result %} <textarea name="remark">{{ record.remark }}</textarea> <input type="submit" name="approve" value="Approve" /> {% endfor %} Thus the HTML may show more than 1 set of textarea and submit button. The back-end Python code retrieves a variable number of records from a gql query using the model, and pass this to the Jinja2 template in result. When a submit button is clicked, it triggers the post method to update the record: def post(self): if self.request.get('approve'): updated_remark = self.request.get('remark') record.remark = db.Text(updated_remark) record.put() However, in some instances, the record updated is NOT the one that correspond to the submit button clicked (eg if a user clicks on record 1 submit, record 2 remark gets updated, but not record 1). I gather that this is due to the duplicate attribute name remark. I can possibly use JavaScript/jQuery to generate different attribute names. The question is, how do I code the back-end Python to get the (variable number of) names generated by the JavaScript? Thanks.

The problem I'm facing is that from some reason the cookie file does not get read and I'm redirecting to the main login page. I was able to manage the spacing of the results content with: #results4 { width: 620px; padding: 20px; } However you will notice that the top row of information Results 1 - 10 for search... runs off the right side of the content area. I tried using the following code, but it didn't help: .t td { align:left; } I also tried margin-right and padding but those didn't work either. what is the best way to get that content to move over into the content area? thanks.

  • I'm confused, how do I control cache so my clients can see website edits.

    I host about 10 websites for clients. Every so often a client will ask for an update to their website. It may be a simple image change, new PDF or a simple text change. I make the change and then send them a link to the web page with the update. About an hour later I will get an email back from the client telling me they still see the old page. I will then explaining to them how to empty their browsers cache. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way I can tell their browser that I made an update to the website and that it should reload the page and update the cache. I thought about trying a meta tag but I read that they are not very reliable. Also I would still like the page to cache I just want to be able to clear it when I make an update. Is this possible? I'm an advanced front end web developer (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and know some PHP. Cache is just one of those things I don't really understand that well.

In web.config, set this <setting name="DisableBrowserCaching" value="false"/> and create pipeline processor page.Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddSeconds(60)); page.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); but it did not work, the repose head stays no-cache. Questions I have in my mind are : How does browser actually caches stuff, does it request for to see if the cached file has changed on the server or not, What is the Ideal way for a developer to make use of browser chaching to its full, but also to be able to push new changes on the site with no hassle at all. I think if browser somehow chaches my CSS and JS and Images, and then just makes a checks for their modification to the server everytime, this can sort the issue. but I am not sure how to do it, waiting for interesting answers :)

This all works fine except that the clientside error messages are only ever displayed to the right of the element being validated. Is it possible to move this validation message below the element being validated? Or even better, group all messages in a div at the top/bottom of the page? I dont see anything in their docs or examples

  • In FLEX, How can you stop ENTER Key from my Alert being caught by the control that initiated the Al

    I am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky.
