• Line Break in XML?

  Hello, I'm a beginner in web development, and I'm trying to insert line breaks in my XML file. This is what my XML looks like: Song Title Lyrics <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> I want to have line breaks in between the sentences for the lyrics. I tried everything from /n, and other codes similar to it, PHP parsing, etc., and nothing works! Have been googling online for hours and can't seem to find the answer. I'm using the XML to insert data to an HTML page using Javascript. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks before :)

  Let me try to explain my situation: We are using a CMS which 'bakes' a website, and you publish it to a webserver. The published site contains only static HTML ( or XML ) pages ( generated from the content in the CMS database ). I imported an XML file with the names and phone numbers from the company phone directory. Using only XSLT, can I create a way to search that directory? For example, if my XML file, directory.xml looks like this: <directory> <person> <fname>Ryan</fname> <lname>Purple</lname> <phone>887 778 5544</phone> </person> <person> <fname>Tanya</fname> <lname>Orange</lname> <phone>887 998 5541</phone> </person> <directory> Can I create a way to search for a person with the last name starting with "Pur" ? • How to lazy load scripts in YUI that accompany ajax html fragments

  I have a web app with Tabs for Messages and Contacts (think gmail). Each Tab has a Y.on('click') event listener that retrieves an HTML fragment via Y.io() and renders the fragment via node.setContent(). However, the Contact Tab also requires contact.js to enable an Edit button in the fragment. How do I defer the cost of loading contact.js until the user clicks on the Contacts tab? How should contact.js add it's listener to the Edit button? The Complete function of my Tab's on('click') event could serialize Get.script('contact.js') after Y.io('fragment'). However, for better performance, I would prefer to download the script in parallel to downloading the HTML fragment. In that case, I would need to defer adding an event listener to the Edit button until the Edit button is available. This seems like a common RIA design pattern. What is the best way to implement this with YUI? How should I get the script? How should I defer sections of the script until elements in the fragment are available in the DOM?

• Convert array to nested HTML list

  I have a 2 dimensional array. And each value contains a depth. What I want is that the the array is converted to a (unordered) HTML list. I already found a solution in PHP DOMDocument, but I can't really use it since I have to add a lot of classes and content to the HTML. I' have tried to make something myself, but it didn't workout. • Change select's class based on selected option's class

  I have a page that contains numerous <select> elements. What I'm trying to achieve is to ensure that if a <select>'s selected <option> has a class called italic, then the <select> then has the italic class added (i.e. jQuery.addClass('italic')). If it doesn't, then the italic class is removed from the <select> to ensure other <option> elements are displayed correctly (i.e. jQuery.removeClass('italic')). What I'm noticing with most of my attempts is that either all the <select> have the italic class or that the italic class isn't being removed accordingly. Since I'm unsure my choice in selectors and callback logic are particularly sound or good practice in this instance (as I've been frustratingly trying to make it work) I've decided not to include the code I used in previous attempts. Instead, refer to this small HTML & CSS example: .italic { font-style: italic; } <select id="foo" name="foo" size="1" <option value="NA" selected="selected" - Select - </option <option value="1"Bar</option <option value="2"Fu</option <option value="3"Baz</option </select Also, I am aware that not all browsers support CSS styling of <select> and <option>. I have monitored the log on both real servers, they have the same problem. • Is it necessary to "escape" character "<" and ">" for javascript string?

  Sometimes, server side will generate strings to be embedded in inline JavaScript code. For example, if "UserName" should be generated by ASP.NET. Then it looks like. <script> var username = "<%UserName%>"; </script> This is not safe, because a user can have his/her name to be </script><script>alert('bug')</script></script> It is XSS vulnerability. So, basically, the code should be: <script> var username = "<% JavascriptEncode(UserName)%>"; </script> What JavascriptEncode does is to add charater "\" before "/" and "'" and """. So, the output html is like. var username = "<\/scriptalert(\'bug\')<\/script<\/script"; Browser will not interpret "<\/script" as end of script block. So, XSS in avoided. However, there are still "<" and "" there. It is suggested to escape these two characters as well. First of all, I don't believe it is a good idea to change "<" to "&lt;" and "" to "&gt;" here. And, I'm not sure changing "<" to "\<" and "" to "\" is recognizable to all browsers. It seems it is not necessary to do further encoding for "<" and "". Is there any suggestion on this? Thanks.

Usually this works fine, but not in this case: <p> <b>Titles</b> (Some Text) <table> <tr> <td valign="top"> …Something1... </td> <td align="right" valign="top"> …Something2... </td> </tr> </table> </p> I do this query to get the first <td> //p[b='Titles']/table/tr/td[0] but nothing is returned because libxml think that <table> tag is not a child of a tag <p> and following him. And finally the question WHY?
